I was only out because I had a doctors appointment, but thought I would get a pedicure since I assumed they would not be busy. Most businesses were closed today because of the snow, and the parking lot was full of slush and snow. When my pedicure was finished the nice young man who did my pedicure began to put sandals on my feet. I said "I won't be able to walk in the slush with sandals on because there's snow on the ground" He said " you should have gotten a gel pedicure, regular polish is going to take a long time to dry so you can't put your shoes back on. You just have to wait or walk outside in the sandals." OK I guess that was true and was a consequence of my decision to get regular polish. I had asked how much my pedicure would be when I came in and was quoted $30 however, when I went to pay, I received an up charge of five dollars because they had to remove gel from my my last pedicure. So that was an up charge of five dollars. They had a sign that said if I paid cash I would get a discount, but that was not applied until I asked for it. The young man who did my pedicure was very sweet, but the two other gentlemen who worked there (probably more in their 20s or 30s )we're not particularly kind or helpful. Overall, it was not a great experience as they all seem to find humor at my need to walk across the parking lot in sandals through slush and snow and where happy to upcharge me and reluctant to give me the discount I was entitled to, even though they had a sign posted that they gave a discount for cash. Needless to say there's a lot of nail salons in town and I won't be back.

I took that to mean please don't cut them down too short. She took it to mean I wanted tips. Then she sat with someone else to start their mani and a different tech sat down to do my nails. He didn't asked me any questions since the other tech seemed to have filled him in. He cuts all my nails down and even laughs when I wince at the pain of him catching my quick with the clipper. In fact, I was cut with the drill multiple times on two fingers. Is it normal to bleed and have scabs as part of the look? Then he pulls out his box of tips and I told him I didn't want tips and that's when I realized how short he'd cut my nails down. They're super short but that's fine; they can still look nice. I was upset but mistakes happen so I didn't make a big deal about it. But he layered the polish on so thick so it looks like bubbles sitting on my nails especially since they were so short. A friend's husband compared them to skittles. I think they remind me of ET fingers. It also wasn't the velvet/cat eye finish I asked for and showed a picture of. It was my first time asking for velvet and so I didn't understand it was done with gel but I asked for dip and no one explained to me that the look I wanted was gel so he layered the gel on top of the dip. I think if we skipped the dip and just did gel, we wouldn't have had 6+ layers of polish and powder to make my nails look bubbly but they probably went along with it so they could upcharge me for doing both even though it was unnecessary and looks horrible especially since my nails were cut down so short. So I wish either of the two techs would've clarified that before starting the work. Also, during my pedi, two different techs kept switching between me and the woman next to me without washing their hands between handling our feet or wearing and changing out gloves. My trained friend let me know that's something that should be reported to the board. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this experience was that disappointing. $110 wasted on a mani I can't wait to remove.
