We hired these guys to install an RV garage door on a new building in our backyard about 10 years ago. They did an excellent job. I don't recall having any issues during the entire process. Once the door started making squeaky noises when opening and closing, we thought it was time to get it serviced. I left a message, and Fely called me back the same day. Since their computer software had been upgraded since our install, I had to pull our old invoice to give her the information she needed to set up my appointment. She quoted me $220 for the 'tune-up' service. She was able to put me on the schedule for the following week, with a first appointment of the day. We were happy about that. Leroy showed up on time and got right to work. It took him about 45 mins to an hour to complete the tune-up. He let us know our springs would need to be replaced in the near future. He wound one of the two springs to balance the door. He said he didn't feel comfortable winding the other one. When he gave my husband the total bill it was about $80 more than quoted. I confronted him and he said they usually charge an inspection fee. I let him know that Fely never mentioned that. He apologized and asked Fely to credit me back the inspection fee. I was happy they stood by their original quote. Overall a professional experience. Would recommend. read more

Jose called to confirm my time and showed up precisely on time for meeting me. He assessed the situation quickly and gave me a few options including the basic, a medium refresh or a complete overhaul. When I selected the basic, he respected that decision and did not pressure me or use fear in his arguments. He kept me informed of his findings throughout the job and had it all fixed within an hour. I have used this company for both garage door repair and new opener installation. In one situation I had a Genie opener product failure that potentially could have led to damage of the vehicle sitting under it. I called the Best Overhead Door office and they immediately recognized that I needed help ASAP. They sent their technican Jared to my home and he removed the collapsed opener without further incident. A few weeks later he installed a replacement Genie garage door opener and all is well. Lowe's Tigard, where we purchased our Chamberlain garage opener, referred BOD thru Handy Technologies Inc. to do the installation. The installer came on time in their given 1 1/2 hr window. But my son had to leave the home early, so the installer advised hIm that he could go & he would lock up the place after he was finished. That worked well with my son's schedule. Almost a near fatal accident due to improper installation. These guys installed the railing to the dry wall of the ceiling instead of a stud!! 2 of the 3 screws holding one of the railings fell off and hit my brother as he was walking under the opened garage door. They also damaged my foundation when attaching the bottom side of the railing. Broke huge cracks and left it. Another guy came out and reattached the screws, but these issues should have never happened. Safety and regard to the owners home should be a priority with any vendor - it clearly isn't on their list. read more

I ordered my new Garage Door Last November 30th and was told it would be a 3 to 5 week lead time. They didn't deliver it until February 15th, 11 weeks later. They scheduled and rescheduled 3 times the week of installation. The paperwork from Clopay on the new door said it had been ordered December 22nd one month after I put 50% down. To make matters worse the install ( supposedly their Lead installer) improperly installed the Door seal. I had to call them back and instead of replacing it he adjusted the door so it was overdriving down to seal. Now 3 months later my garage door opener failed thanks to overdriving all the time. Absolute incompetence from start to finish and will end up costing me thousands of dollars to fix their mistakes. The first guy who measured the door recommended a wall mounted garage door opener (which is great, that is what I was hoping to get). Two months later when the door arrives the tech says that I don't have enough space for that kind of opener due to the track, but said we only needed 4" more height so if I could do that we'd be good to go. So, I cut a giant hole in the ceiling so we could make this work, sent the pics to BOD and they sent an installer out...who then tells me, no, you need an additiona 8 inches to make this work, well that I can't do. So, now I have a garage that can't fit my car or use my golf simulator all because BOD doesn't hire installers who know what they are doing. Really, really frustrating/awful experience. Oh, and now I have a $500 garage door opener that can't be returned and doesn't work for my space. I am not one to post on Yelp about another persons business but this has been egregious. We contracted through Home Depot. They did not show up during the time. I even came back from something fun to meet them,no calls nothing so I assumed they were not coming. 4 hours later some young guy comes up and says he's here to fix my garage door. The kid did not even apologize for being four hours late and not even a courtesy call which I mentioned that it would have been nice to at least receive a courtesy call to let me know that they were running late only after that did he apologize and proceed with the job. After about two weeks something malfunction and I had to just call the manufacture to help me get through it they were more helpful to me than the actual company that installed it. service was horrible! I do not recommend them and I'm also disappointed that Home Depot would not check up on who they subcontract to. I will definitely use a different company in the future. read more

Our garage door was making a loud clanking sound when it closed. We called for service in July. The service man came out and basically did nothing. Said that garage doors get louder the older they are (our garage doors are only a couple years old). This past Thursday, the garage door wouldn't open at all. The installer did a bad job installing the garage door opener. He ran short of wire so he added a section of wire with no connectors. He twisted the wire together and wrapped it with electrical tape. The wire came loose after 1 year and the door would stop closing intermittently. The door opener was also not adjusted correctly. The technician for Best Overhead Garage Doors blamed the problem on a faulty circuit board in the unit. He would not help with the warranty- just charge me 49.00 for the service call. Called Dave's Garage Door and they showed up in 2 hours, diagnosed the problem and fixed it in less than an hour. Next time I need anything related to a garage door, I am calling Dave's Garage Door. The owner called us, heard our story and the resolution and refunded the 49.00 + 115.00 Dave's Garage Door service calls. Nice Job to the Owner. Thanks!! read more

Nice people. Horrible service. Horrible communication. I would NEVER use them again.! Don't use them, unless you want your garage door install to take 4 months to have them sort out their mistakes. I ordered a door through Lowe's ( by the way...don't use them either. Nice people, poor service). They contract with Best Overhead door. The install people were not flexible with the install times. After much debate of when to make it happen, they installed my door without handles. This was not communicated to me that this is the "norm" now with new doors. They No-showed twice to "fix" it and to put in a better fitting seal for to decrease the gap caused by an uneven floor. Both days I had to take off work to meet them. Due to their schedule, this took over 3 months to schedule. Once, the installer did not get my work order (even though I got a reminder call from the office) and no-showed. They also recommended that I leave the garage door unlocked, so they can come by and check it out if I'm not home. Without the lock, the door rolls up 4 inches. I stated that to them and how it was an obvious safety issue. They agreed, but that that what they recommended. Poor logic. Its now November (my door was originally installed in August) and they still have not fixed the door seal (which they call a receptacle....I'm not an expert...but I don't think those two things are the same). After the last no-show (who happened to be the owner!), the receptionist said she would send her brother out to fix it for the next appointment. She guaranteed that he would do it correctly. Weeks later when he came out, he did not get the work order for it...this is the second person who did not get the work order for fixing this. He did add handles. He also took pictures of the floor gap and the unsecured door panel. The office was supposed to follow up with me the day after about this to schedule a time AGAIN to get the seal put on. Never did. Horrible communication. Now I get to call AGAIN to see when they will fix it again. Maybe I will have it done by the New Year...maybe not... They have their contract from Lowe's and they just really don't care. I would not recommend them. read more

I understand that scheduling is a challenge when people are making service calls and they don't know how long an appointment will take. However, when I make a 9:00 appointment, after informing them that I can make any time except 10:00 - noon because of a doctor appointment, and they call back and tell me the guy is running late and the only time he can make it to my house is during that window, I think they are being unreasonable. They offered to reschedule him back on a day when we are due for a huge snowstorm, and I have other appointments. This is to fix an installation they originally made that has never worked right. She too is excellent to work with and very helpful. Gabe the installer arrived on the day scheduled and in his professional, competent and talented style proceeded to install the quietest most smooth running opener I ve ever owned !! I requested a "quote" to fix my garage door. They came out and gave me a very vague, generic quote which amounted to the price quote for replacing the entire door, motor...the whole works. No itemization at all. I don't need the who system replaced. They say they called me to discuss the quote, but I never received any voicemail. I receive voice mails all the time so I know they could have left one, but didn't. I called them to get a quote for replacing the part that is actually broken and no one called me back. A short time later I received a bill in the mail for the "quote."..... $49.00. For what?? I never paid it and never will. I live in a short distance from their shop and there is no reason to charge for their poor service. Thanks for nothing. Communication between sales and scheduling was not the best. After waiting over 6 weeks for the office to call me after talking with sales at one of the home shows, I decided to call them. The office did not have any paperwork for me, but staff were great. Installation by Jared went well though he came with the wrong equipment. It was a good thing that I was watching the installation and cleaning out my garage at the same time otherwise I would have had a chain drive instead of a belt drive installed. Jared followed up immediately and had another unit delivered to my house while he was completing other parts of the job. Overhead Door installed a new garage door opener on a two car garage through a Home Depot contract.. I have a second RV garage and the opener did not need replacing. The outside wireless keypad could operate both doors. The installer trashed the outside keypad and replaced it with the keypad for the new opener and never asked me where I wanted the new keypad mounted. I told him the outside keypad operated both doors. Now I cannot open the second garage door from the outside. BOD refuses to take any responsibility for the screw up. I have had to go back to Home Depot to try to get this resolved. It would have been so easy for BOD to correct this problem but they refuse to do so. read more

I had scheduled these guys to install a garage door opener after . The price was reasonable but they called and canceled the day before to tell me that the only installer they had that knew how to install the opener I needed was injured and they didn't know when they would be able to install. Customer communication is suspect and I have to question that skill of most of their installers. I wouldn't hire them. read more

Best Overhead Doors was recommended to us by a friend who has used them in his design and remodeling business. Jared came out and installed the insulated metal door with windows we had ordered. We also had the opener replaced. Jared worked efficiently, the door appears to be solidly constructed, and it opens/closes with ease...much quieter than our old opener. Jared went over the main opener functionality, including vacation lock feature, the remotes, alignment and functionality of the sending and receiving protector system sensors (light beam), and the external keypad operation. He also showed us how to maintain the door, i.e., where and how to apply lithium grease, and how to disengage the opener to manually open/close the door, as well as how it re-engages. Handprints on the door, unavoidable in the installation, were cleaned up, too. While the door appears to be high quality, the window inserts are flimsy plastic and I suspect they won't last long. The only issue we had after Jared left was the discovery of leaked oil from BOD's work truck on our stamped concrete driveway, which is why this rating is 4 star. Overall this was a good experience and Jared was knowledgeable, professional and thorough. We are happy with the door and I recommend BOD should you find yourself in need of overhead door professionals. read more

Warning for all Clark County residents! Best Overhead Door says they service Vancouver and have a Washington phone number, but they ridiculously overcharged us for a service call. The reasoning was they are based in Tualatin, so coming all the way to Battle Ground was over and above, apparently. In a simple Google search, I found plenty of other reputable dealers who were truly local to SW Washington. One even advertised a $29 service call. Lesson learned for us, but we wanted to forewarn any Clark County/SW Washington residents NOT to use Best Overhead Door. They overcharge, overcharge, overcharge! Use someone local! read more

I had an intermittent problem with one of my garage doors that was installed by overhead doors. After talking to Dusty in the office and walking me through a bunch of steps to try to avoid a service call I ended up having to have them come out anyway because we ruled out all of the events we tried over the phone. Upon arriving, Dave Walsh introduced himself and gave me kind of a rundown of what were potential possibilities that could be causing this. With his 15 plus years of experience he came to the conclusion it was a very rare situation where the sensor was defective internally & working intermittently at which point he replaced and then eent on to educate me on the garage door as far as lock rings and angles to look out for and how to keep on top of the garage door maintenance with lithium grease as well. The door is working great oww. They're a great company with great knowledge of what they do. I highly suggest them and believe they're as honest as anybody in the business. Plus Dave had a great comedy monologue as he was working and yet still very focused on what he was doing. read more

I purchased a garage door from Best Overhead Door in 2008. I got a door that has windows and plastic inserts in them. I had problems right away with one of the inserts slipping down and showing the top of the glass. I got a guy out right away from overhead who was rude to me and told me just to super glue them. I did not feel comfortable trying to fix on my own. So called them back and they sent someone else out who supposedly tightened the frame. Had same problem soon after and just have been living with it for many years by pushing up the inserts about once a week. It is now 2014 and the plastic inserts have warped and I can no longer push them back up in the frame. I called Overhead and they are willing to come out and fix the problem for a COST. Garage door itself is ok except they said it is insulated and what a change it would make, I have not noticed any change, actually in the summer, it seems hotter then with the old door. Also their spring they put in broke a couple of years ago and had to have it replaced. I think the worst part of this is Best Overhead wants to charge me again for their faulty product!!!
