Chose this company because of the good reviews but had quite an unsettling experience. Two men came out to fix the spring on my one car garage and quoted me $475. I'm a single mom and needed it done but realized quickly they were over-charging me. Immediately I told the men I found it for $350 and they said they would have to call their boss to get it that low. One made a phone call, came back and said "the lowest we can do it $395". I responded saying I will go with another company. He then told me he would be charging me a $95 service charge for coming out (this is something they never told me about, nor did I agree to). He called his boss again and came back to tell me he could do $350 and asked if it would be "cash or check". (Their website says they take cards). So many red flags. My friend then called the company's main number and they quoted her "$350 out the door". These men see a young single mom and try to take advantage by charging her $125 more. They complete the job and come to collect pay. Before I paid, I asked for a receipt and the guy tries to send me a text message receipt! I said "Absolutely not. This looks incredibly sketchy and there is no reason you cannot give me a paper receipt". So he calls his boss again and comes back with a formal receipt. I can't say enough great things about these folks. We called them at random because we needed a new opener installed on our main garage door. They were fast friendly and affordable. They were able to answer questions about garage door programming even a year after installation. When it came time to add an opener to our 2nd door we called them and had a similar experience to the 1st. We had them come back to fix an issue with the 2nd door closing roughly. They were out and got it fixed the same day even though it was an existing condition not related to the opener. That is amazing customer service. I have given a few five star reviews before but for DBar if there was six stars I would give it. Dotan was here at my home six years ago troubleshooting my original solid wood 50+ year old garage door and installed a new opener which still works perfectly to this day. Fast forward to December when the Winter Storm here in Portland froze everything and caused our original door here to fail crack and break in all sorts of ways. I was out of town and my wife was stranded with a broken door in the cold with two kids. I called Dotan from abroad to see if he could come by that day to see if he could find a resolution as my wife was leaving town the next day. I needed commercial size springs replaced on a residential RV garage door. No other place in the Portland metro area could source them for me over the course of 9 months. Not only did D Bar find them within 24 hours of my call, but they replaced them within 48 hours of my call and charged me exactly how much I had been quoted by other places in summer/fall of 2021 (and considering inflation over the subsequent 9 months, this was fair pricing). Dotan and his team did an excellent job with our garage doors. From the very beginning with the quote we could tell this was the right company to use. We had a fairly complex request and Dotan had great suggestions for making everything work perfectly. We have regular height garage doors but a tall garage and we wanted the garage doors to use the vertical space so as not to waste useable space in our garage but without using ugly commercial roller doors. My husband also wanted the garage to be weather sealed and insulated. I recently moved into a house flip that had an old, dented garage door that wouldn't seal. I found several different garage door / repair companies on Yelp. I had 4 different companies come by for estimates. Of the four, D Bar Garage provided the most professional estimates and answered all of my questions thoroughly and promptly and provided a very clear estimate of both parts and labor costs. Although D Bar Garage Doors was not the lowest estimate, I felt most comfortable working with them. The day of the installation, two technicians, Shaun and Jay arrived on time and got to work disassembling the old garage door. Both men worked almost 9 hours to remove all of the old equipment and install the new garage door. Towards the end of the day, Dotan (the owner) came by to go over the final invoice and inspect the installation. I'm ecstatic with the appearance and the function of the new garage door. Everyone at D Bar were very detail oriented. Shaun and Jay even waited until Dotan showed up to install the weather stripping because they didn't have any black nails with them and they didn't want white nails to ruin the esthetic of the door. Shaun, Jay, and Dotan hauled away all of the old door and the packing materials and left my garage as clean as it was when they had started. Even though it was getting late in the day, I asked Dotan if he could re-key one of my doors to match the keys for the other doors (I noticed the logo on Dotan's vehicle stated he was also a locksmith). The torsion spring on my 2-car garage door broke over the weekend. Heck, I didn't even realize that was a thing. I checked yelp and called D Bar because of the great reviews that people have posted. I talked to Dotan over the phone, and he reassured me that it was an expected occurrence and that it was a completely straightforward task to put in a replacement. I described the garage door and Dotan gave me a ballpark range for how much it should cost to replace the spring. He also pointed out that there really should be two springs on a door of that size and that one might have broken before we bought the house and never been replaced. The quote seemed reasonable so we scheduled a visit for the next day. As promised, the team called me from the work van as they left their previous job to let me know they were on their way. They showed up right on time took a look at the broken spring. Skyler (I hope I'm spelling his name right) talked to the shop on the phone and gave me a quote, which matched up with the ballpark range Dotan had provided the previous night. When I approved the quote they got right to work. The guys were super friendly and knowledgeable, and were quite happy to answer my questions as they worked. The got done, cleaned up the workspace, and were on their way to the next job within an hour after thanking me for the business. Overall, I can't think of anything that they could have done better. They even lubricated the springs and hinges on my other garage door before they left. The newly repaired door does what garage doors are supposed to do, and seems quieter than before as well. I will happily call D Bar again if I need any other repair work done or a garage door replaced. read more

The torsion spring on my condo's door decided to break. I scanned Yelp and found D Bar Garage Doors with very positive reviews. Speaking with Dotan on the phone, he made it very clear that he didn't want me to spend unnecessarily. He made it clear that they would make sure that we made the garage door right without going wild. The team arrived on time on a VERY hot day. They examined the issue, explained what would need to happen and got to work immediately. It took them about an hour to remove the broken spring mechanism and fabricate a new, much more beefy spring setup. They also tightened the chain, lubricated all moving parts, adjusted the drive unit down to lower the opening and closing pressure. Dotan briefed me on proper programming of the controllers as well. I felt that the service was superb, no pressure, very upright, and to the point.
