When the faucet died, I naturally asked them to find and replace the faucet. Here's what I learned: 1 - do not rely on the information provided by whoever answers the phone. They are just a receptionist with zero knowledge about what is possible or practical. 2 - do not work directly with the servicing technician on parts. they don't know how to work with the "front office" to make sure the correct part is ordered...and they don't provide any updates on status of orders. (not my job, was the essence of the explanation) They might be good at cleaning out clogged drains, but I wouldn't trust them to do that right either. Use them at your peril. You've been warned.

TL/DR Review: JP Plumbing & Heating is fantastic! They are actually willing to fix you furnace, or…read moreair conditioner, instead of just trying to sell you a new one. That can mean the difference between spending a few hundred dollars on a repair, or spending several thousand dollars on a whole new HVAC system. Unabridged Review: In order to understand what makes JP so special, you need to know a little about how the HVAC business works. Imagine if every auto mechanic primarily worked on one or two types of cars, but they didn't have a sign out front telling you which types they worked on. So, if you bring your Honda to a mechanic who works on Honda and Acura, he'll have all sorts of parts in stock, and he'll fix your Honda. If you bring that Honda to a mechanic who works on Toyota and Lexus, that mechanic has a choice. He can either order parts and try to fix a car he's not used to working on, or he can tell you your Honda is in bad enough shape that it's not worth fixing. Then, he can sell you a Toyota, make a lot more money on the sale in a lot less time than it would have taken to fix your Honda, and also make it so it's easier for him to fix your car next time. That's exactly how most HVAC companies work. If your system is made by York, and the company you call primarily sells Goodman and Trane, they're typically not going to order a York part for an HVAC unit they don't typically work on, and then have you get angry it's taking so long for the part to get there, when they can make a lot more money selling you a new Goodman or Trane furnace and condenser that they will always have parts for. I don't blame them. I understand why they do it. I just don't want to pay $6,000 for a new HVAC unit when I could have paid $300 for someone to diagnose the problem, and replace a part that probably costs $25-$50. That's where JP Plumbing & Heating comes in. My wife first discovered them after one HVAC company had told me my problem was my thermostat (it wasn't), and quoted me something like $1,200 for a new thermostat, three new filters, and way more labor than a thermostat requires. Then, another company told me my entire HVAC system needed to be replaced. JP sent a tech out. He examined the furnace, and determined that the flame sensors were malfunctioning because they were covered in rust. He spent a couple hours scraping the rust off, and the flame sensors have worked great ever since. This was two or three years ago. We called JP again this past Wednesday afternoon, because the furnace kept kicking on and off randomly. We figured the flame sensors might have rusted again. JP sent a technician out early the next morning (yesterday). He determined that the problem was a broken pressure switch, and he had it fixed in probably less than an hour. So, I have called JP for two separate things, and they were able to fix those things both times, instead of selling me a new HVAC unit. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on a new HVAC set-up, then definitely do that, but don't spend thousands of dollars on a new unit because you called the wrong HVAC repair company. Call JP instead.

The receptionist was very friendly and professional, and even though not a technician, offered up a few basics to check before they sent someone out in the morning. Josh was my technician who called to let me know he was on his way about 10-15 minutes beforehand which was great, and was even a few minutes early. He was able to point out to me how my furnace worked while he was working, and explained what all of the parts were without making me feel like an idiot so I could do a little more intermediate troubleshooting if something were to happen again. Josh found the issue and showed me the part that was broken, what function it had and why it likely had broken down. He was in and out in about an hour, was very professional and helped explain a lot of things that I didn't understand. As a fairly new homeowner I appreciated the extra time taken so I could get a better comprehension of what was going on. I will definitely be using Hanna's for any other issue I ever come across, and would highly recommend them.

They were true professionals who not only treated me with respect, but you could see the respect their employees had for each other. They worked very hard on a messy job that took hours of hard work to accomplish. Their fees were more than reasonable and they met every quote they gave me. They were so efficient that I had them replace my toilets which took less than 24 hours. They also fixed my water heater that had a leak and every job they performed works perfectly! They took a very distressing situation and treated it with urgency and true craftsmanship! You can't ask for any better service than the professionals at Hanna and they do it for a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone with even the simplest of plumbing problems! And for the truly invasive, messy problems, you can TRUST them to take care of the problem with great efficiency! It is a huge relief to know Hanna is out there if I should ever have any plumbing problems. I can't say enough good things about their professionalism!

They came out same day to let me know that the water heater was shot and needed replaced. The current water heater was a Rheem 40 gallon 40,000 BTU 12 year Professional ($900). They told me they would replace it with a Richmond Economy water heater from Menards, when asked to replace it with same brand they said they do not buy Rheem, only what Menards sells. Being without water and that they had already cut the water lines I really had no choice. They left to "run to Menards" and brought back a water heater, rushed to take it out of the box and throw it in. as they were installing it i went and looked at the box, it was only a Economy 40 gallon, 36,000 btu 6 year water heater ($399). I asked the installer and he said "I don't know what to tell you, people don't usually ask this many questions" I was given the owners number and called him, he informed me this was just the way they do it, and that this is the standard water heater he installs. I asked him how he takes out a $900 dollar water heater, gets authorization from the home warranty to install a $900 water heater then goes to Menards and buys a $399 economy water heater. He replied "I do it to everybody, if you don't like it I'll tell my guys to leave". so I googled the water heaters at Menards Other options Richmond 40 gallon, 40,000 btu 12 year ($619), or even a Richmond 40 gallon 38,000 btu, 9 year ($526), Repeated calls to the company have been ignored or just told where to stick it and hung up on. These people are scam artist. Beware. Do not do business with this company

However, due to it being a Saturday, I was charged a $250 weekend service charge. The problem was that drifting snow had blocked the outflow pipe. While the technician was at my home, he received a call from my neighbor experiencing exactly the same thing. The technician advised him to clear his exhaust pipe. No charge. I did not object to the technician's service fee, but felt the weekend fee excessive, especially since my neighbor was treated fairly at NO CHARGE. Colony profited unreasonably and lost my business because of it. Dr. Sisson
