Called up Rick for my my obligatory 2nd estimate on a new garage door. Over the phone, he was able to pinpoint the issue and undersell what i needed. Said i didn't need to buy a new door but rather just fix the springs on the old ones to save me some money. I thanked him for the advice but my wife and i wanted to spruce up the house by opting for a brand new door. He welcomed the idea and said he would come by later in the week. He called me to verify time and when showed up assessed my situation further. I viewed the catalog he had with him and quickly made a decision on what we wanted. White, Double door, with long panels, and windows. $610 plus $138 with windows (optional of course). Because I was going from a 25 year door and motor, I would have to also upgrade the motor he advised. Okay, he also mentioned that he had a spare door opener (motor) that was "like new" and if i wanted, I could take it off his hands for under $200. he also said he would give me a 1 year warranty on it. I decided to take him up on the offer and we agreed on an install date. He showed up when he said he would and within a couple of hours, he removed my old door and hinges and replaced with a beautiful brand new door. He also didn't rush out and took the time to explain the parts (how to open, how to turn on light, turn off), how often i needed to grease the hinges, etc. It was very much appreciated. he took the payment at END of job (and not a penny before). 1st company I called was not only $400 more expensive, but wanted $400 upfront. I called Rick on the morning of Monday October 3, 2016 and he was at my front door that afternoon. I had just moved into a new home and was having trouble programming my garage door remote. Rick came by to help me out. Turns out that at some point someone had changed out the controller on the garage door and the code was now set by switches instead of intellicode. To make matters worse the dip switches were hidden inside the unit which had to be disassembled in order to access them. None of this was an issue for Rick who had new remote programed and working in about 10 minutes. He then noticed that the arm the connect the screw drive to the door itself was installed correctly so he fixed that while he was at it. I was so impressed with his work that I hired him to install new door opener for the 3rd car garage which didn't have one. He quoted me a price and we agreed on the date for the install.
