I have had Best Way for many years, and I appreciate the job they do. I have called the office for extra pickups, and when I needed my can replaced, they were always helpful and prompt in their response. The pricing is fair. If you think about it, where would we be without this service? I am grateful that they come to my home and carry away my trash. I pay online, and once I had an issue when they did not receive my payment. But I talked to them, and we worked it out. I didn't feel they were rude or disrespectful. Anybody but Best Way...This company is awful. Just read all the negative reviews. Not only do they not actually pick up your trash but the billing is way below subpar, like 1980's no actual account bad. Everyone is put on yearly billing because it is easier...for them. God help you is you get behind. Here is what you can expect. See love letter posted below. I have been a customer for years and you can count on a 20% non-pick up rate. This is because the tracking is the same as their Billing...almost non-functioning. The cans are not tracked and is you're like me living in the country my neighbors cans are right next to mine....sooo if one is in fault the whole stop is skipped. I called to let them know and was greeted with your account was closed for non-payment. Please see attached Statement! Note the balances...I have been making payments just throwing money as kind of a bill pay. As you can see the balance was nominal and reoccurring payments are being made. I'm being treated for cancer and money is VERY tight in this tough economy. Note the statement does not indicate ANY past due amounts of any kind but I did get (in the same statement) the legal threat....so that was nice. This is straight up bulling tactics buy a company with a THUG mentality. I immediately called the service rep at Not Best Way (NBW) and asked to speak to an account manage to let them know I made a payment and to turn on my service. Well I was bounced to voice mail and left a message...nothing but crickets in reply. That was 3 weeks ago and today on my pick up day...no service. In closing - Customer service...terrible I mean talking over your issues while you try to get relevant answers from the minion answering the phone. - Actual service: not too bad and you can't blame the drivers doing what they are told by the suits. - Billing: Basically this company is stuck in the 1980's. No ACH transfer...No actual information on past use status. NO ONLINE ACCOUNT VERIFICATION. I know a 13 yr old that can set that up! The KICK in the privates is when you finally get to a "service" manager you have ZERO escalation path. I was told there is no corporate phone number because they will only refer the complaint back to the "Lack of Service" manager. Do yourself a favor and just DON'T! you will eventually have a problem with NOT BEST WAY. At the end of the day NBW turned off my trash pick up a month ago with no actual notification on the statements, no phone call no late payment notifications on a person throwing up after chemo treatments. The upside is I did get the lovely legal action letter! In the words of Best Way owners Mike and Ralph Balkema "websites and graphic design aren't their strong suit". I have had Bavarian and now Bestway for 30 years +,,, there have been some issues but for the most part do a good job. Yesterday regular pickup day usually early afternoon. I had left over and old food and containers. So didn't curbside trash until mid morning and missed pickup. Customer representative reminded me of policies . If you have an issue, such as a missed pickup, guess who gets the blame for it? Have a complaint? Expect to hear that it's all your fault. Somehow, you didn't follow the "rules." Your bin wasn't positioned exactly right. (Never mind those piles of stubborn snow and ice during harsh winter weather.) Need to discard a cardboard box? Call in advance and make special arrangements. Expect the driver to reject pickup because the box isn't flat enough. (Next time, I'll bundle it up and put a bow on it.) Request service cancellation? Oh, they're happy to cancel your service, but don't expect a refund. "Can't do that. Didn't you read the rules?" Request to speak to a supervisor? Big surprise, he's not in the office today. Leave a voicemail? You're only talking to yourself. Looks like Best Way's Give-a-Damn is broken. Next year, we're switching back to Rumpke. read more

- Worst billing system ever. You need an account to login to pay your bill, but none of your account info is linked to your login. The system doesn't know how much you owe, your account number, or the invoice number. All three of these are required to pay online, so you have to have the physical bill in front of you to pay, and you have to type it all in. - Terrible customer service when on the phone. - Sometimes they would skip my house and not pick up the trash. Literally the WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. They do everything they can to stick it to the customers. We pay yearly via automatic payment. Last year we asked for a special pickup for a large item. They said it's an extra $30ish and picked it up. 6 weeks later they didn't pickup our trash. When I called, they said we didn't pay. I said we paid for the whole year and they said yes, but we didn't pay for the extra pickup. I said it was on automatic payment but they said no it was sent to us. We didn't remember seeing it and said regardless we paid for the entire year...of which there was still 10 months left. It would almost make sense to stop picking up at the end of the year to make up for the $30 but they're so unbelievably rude. Never had this problem with Rumpke (unfortunately they don't pickup where we are). Highly recommend you stay away from them. read more

Moving from one address to another. I've been a customer with them for years and they are charging me 10$ to take their can that I pay to rent from the current address to the new one. I find the nickel and dime process ridiculous. I will most definitely be changing trash companies come next billing cycle. Oh look, they gave the short bus kids a business, they gave them a very loud truck that goes bang bang with an arm they can throw garbage all over the neighborhood, then sit their mouth breathing buts in the truck and not get out to pick up there mess. It's peanut butter jelly time for these downsy bunch of trailer trash every day of the week. Absolutely terrible- Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Sat 2 trash cans on the curb for pick up like normal, came home with 1 can missing and the other can full for the second time. They stated the driver must've accidentally lost the can during dumping (rep also stated this is fairly common in the company) and will bring a new trash can out NEXT week. When I asked about them coming back out and servicing the full trash can that they missed at the curb, they refused! Then offered me two options. Option 1. $4 refund and to wait a week with no means to dispose trash. The other option you ask?.... Option 2. I could receive no refund and pay an additional $50 charge upfront for them to come service the can that THEY missed! Supervisor then proceeded to tell me that I was ENTITLED for expecting a driver to go out of HIS way tomorrow and service the trashcan without paying the $50 charge and if I wasn't happy with the options given I can seek another provider. Meanwhile I'm expected to continue paying my bill and have 0 trashcans to utilize, due to their refusal to own their mistake and resolve. Not to mention they left trash all over my yard. Cancelled service and going to Rumpke. I highly recommend everyone to avoid this headache and find a company who cares about their business and their customer relationships. **update** To top this experience off... When canceling service we were advised that the trash can must be emptied in order for them to come collect it!! Or else suffer from another charge from them refusing to service! Hello, I paid an additional rate to have my trash picked up at an off time (Monday morning). I was not told that the service comes at 5 am, the call recording of the two times I spoke to 3 reps (including the billing supervisor) last Friday will reflect this. I was refunded the amount today because my trash was not picked up, having been set out for the usual time of 7 am on Fridays, not realizing he came at 5 am. I was told by a seemingly irritated phone rep that the routing supervisor would not be able to fit me in and that I'd be waiting until Friday, my next scheduled pick up day and that I would be refunded the amount but not before claiming I knew and was told. I get the impression this is a small company and the quality/tone of the service reflects that. It is very take it or leave it, like it or leave and it is low on the bar for service today and locally. I once had a professional relationship with this company as a property manager, but residentially I have received basically poor service on the phone, in my opinion, in the form of uninformed, uninterested or undertrained reps. I will be submitting the feedback on Google reviews as well. I just wanted my trash picked up and even tried to work it out after the rep did not inform us of your company's change in schedule. Although I see a number of negative reviews, overall I have had good luck with Bestway. I do want to give them kudos for one thing. My family just moved out of state and there was an issue with "not sufficient funds" (NSF) in our account when we made one of our last payments to Bestway (I think this happened because we closed our bank account before the scheduled electronic transfer went through). Anyway, we were charged a $25 NSF fee. I called the company and, after a bit of cajoling, they reversed the fee. Thank you Bestway and God bless in the future! I used best way for 5 years I rented one can and for 4 1/3 years never had a problem if I had a little extra garbage I then had to call in order to get the extra pick up on the rare occasion that I had more than the one can. I am getting ready to move so had extra 2 times in a one month period and they were going to Charge me for the extra. I have been using Best Way for residential garbage collection for last few years. Rarely do I set trash next to the can, but recently I set a cardboard box out which was from a small refrigerator I purchased. The box was about as tall and wide as the garbage can that they gave me to use. Nothing was in it but the packing that came with the refrigerator so it maybe weighed 10 pounds. Anyways, they missed my trash so I called the company and the lady said something about snow and not being able to get to it. I chuckled over the phone at her because I live on a cul-de-sac with a massive circle to turnaround in so I'm not sure the level of difficulty she was speaking too but it wasn't worth further discussion. Some times I wonder when I call if they have prepared an excuse for the week when they leave your garage on the curb. Like these drivers remember every house and piece of garage they leave at the curb and why from the hundreds they gather from each day. So they came out the next day and got my trash from the can but left the box. So I called again and asked why they didn't take the box. I was given a few excuses: 1.) I'm suppose to call them in advance to pick-up larger items. Lol...I asked if she was kidding and I said it's a cardboard box. The customer service lady replied all items are to go in the can. So this lead to the 2nd excuse. 2.) Their drivers are not required to get out of the truck to collect trash. So if the electronic claw can't get it, then it will be left at the curb. It seems, based upon my conversation with them over the phone, its up to the driver whether he/she is in a good mood that day whether they take that 13 gallon trash bag next to your garbage can or not! You can either hope they are in a good mood and its not raining or snowing or cold out and they get out of the truck and take it...or you can change to Rumpke where the workers actually do get out to get your trash still guaranteeing your trash will be taken. The choice is yours! I chose to change to Rumpke after the incident. That same cardboard box that Best Way wouldn't take...Rumpke took it on my first trash pickup without me having to make a phone call or even move it from the spot where Best Way left it at the curb! Bestway came to our area a few years ago offering lower prices on trash pickup. Like an idiot I took the bait. Now thier prices have raised and are not much of a savings over Rumpke but what really seperates the two companies is service. Bestway doen't pick anything up that doesn't fit in their smaller than Rumpke trash cantainer and if something falls out of the can they don't even pick it up. If you clean out your garage and have anything that won't fit in the Bestway can forget it they won't touch it. Bestway reminds me of a new Restaurant that opens up and everyone trys it but then 3 weeks later everyone talks about how lumpy the gravey is and swears they will never go back. I am paid ahead on my Bestway service and they don't give refunds so I can only offer this advice don't be a sucker for a lower price like me steer clear of Bestway a small savings isn't worth the total lack of service and dealing with a company that has no intentions of meeting the needs of it's customers. read more
