My stay was ok. The room was clean. Things were, for the most part, quiet. Breakfast was decent. The price was reasonable. Location is very close to 71 and restaurants. Now for the bad: The lady at the front desk who checked me in at 7pm (and was there the next morning at check out as well, which is a mystery) WAS NOT WEARING HER MASK AT CHECK IN OR CHECK OUT (see below). Once again, despite a HUGE SIGN on the hotel's door regarding mask wearing (see below), the hotel's own employee disregards the policy. Not to mention, Ohio has a mask mandate still in effect. I have no idea why employees are disregarding the mandate and the hotel's own policy but they're putting people's health at risk. Oh, I should mention that in the morning, the lady pictured below was having a conversation with some bald guy (employee) prior to me checking out and he was also mask-less. I'd like to add that this idiot mask-less lady also put me in the closest room to the front desk. I requested something down the hall but she CLAIMED she had nothing, despite their being hardly any cars in the parking lot and empty rooms with curtains open. So at 8am the morning of check out, when a group of six idiots decided to congregate and have a loud conversation in the lobby/hallway area 20 feet from my door, I had to turn on the tv to drown them out and could not get back to sleep. These idiots were also either mask-less or wearing their masks improperly but not a word from the hotel staff. It's a shame. This is a decent hotel. But because of the mask issues, I won't be staying here again. Next time, Holiday Inn Express for sure. They wear masks and accommodate room location requests. read more

A basic hotel, and a good night's sleep. We've stayed at Best Westerns before and liked them. This one is clearly a bit older, and not only in need of a remodel but also kinda limited by its age. The room was smallish, the bathroom was tiny, and things were just crowded in general. A little worn around the edges. Some small issues in the room- the fridge made noises, the HVAC smelled like it was burning when you turned it on (probably just dusty.) Nothing major, and it was fine as a place to sleep, if not hang out. For a trip to King's Island, or an overnight visit to Cinci for a wedding, like us, it was just fine. There's a pool that looked nice (small, again.) It had a lift for people with disabilities, which is cool. The breakfast was, again, a little on the small side. Very basic. Only hot items were sausage, scrambled eggs, and waffles. I guess I'm just spoiled by having gotten good deals at nicer hotels. But this one is reasonable priced, and has comfy beds, and gave us a handy place to stay. read more

Let's just start with the hair in our breakfast. It wasn't a little. It was 4 long, black hairs and definitely not ours. My husband and I went to breakfast first, and when we told the front desk, the cook removed the pan of eggs and brought another one. We didn't tell our kids who were still sleeping, because we didn't want to freak them out since it was a fresh batch. Our kids got theirs to eat in the car. My son found another hair after a few minutes in the car. The sink in our room was also broken. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean, but over all, the other things completely ruined it. EVER EVER EVER AGAIN. On Jan 4th, my daughter and I traveled from SC to OH, with all intentions of staying until Jan 7th. My great grandson was due to be born on Jan 5th, but of course that didn't happen, so we decided to stay two more nights. We had been staying at the Drury Inn, and decided to continue staying there so we wouldn't have to pack up everything and leave. I checked on the room rate through Agoda and Best Western came up right under Drury Inn. I clicked on BOOK ROOM and as soon as I did, a message came up "THANK YOU FOR BOOKING AT BEST WESTERN". I Immediately tried to cancel the booking but couldn't. I called Agoda and they advised that it was a no cancellation room, but they didn't have a problem if I cancelled, but it would be up to Best Western. I called Best Western and tried to explain that I booked with them accidentally, that we were already staying somewhere and would appreciate not having to move. The clerk was very rude and obnoxious. He didn't care why we were there, didn't care if I booked with them accidentally, and didn't care if we had to move everything for two nights, he wasn't going to let me cancel. We packed up all of our stuff and moved about two blocks down to Best Western. The first night we were there, we got to hotel from visiting at hospital and when we got out of the car to go inside, a girl screamed like all hell was going to break loose. We couldn't tell where it was coming from but when we got inside, I told the clerk who said "oh, she was prob just watching the game." We went to the elevator and while waiting for the elevator, I looked in the dining area and there was a man staring at us. Just when the elevator got there, the man got up and headed in our direction. We hurried and closed the door and when we got to our floor, I heard the elevator open. I looked down the hall and he was walking in our direction. Needless to say, our room was at the END of the hall, next to the stairs, so we didn't leave the room untill morning. I can't even review the room and breakfast after staying at the Drury. Ultimately, I KNOW this was MY fault for not paying more attention and booking the wrong hotel. BUT........ Under the circumstances he could have worked with me, because it was an accidental booking, I didn't just book and decide to go somewhere else, he could have been more understanding and let me cancel the reservation. We have always stayed at Best Western hotels and have always enjoyed our stay, but the clerk at this hotel ruined all of that. read more

I have read other reviews and can not believe what I see. I spent 3 weeks at the hotel in November 2023 and was much less than impressed with the hotel services and mostly the staff. I will say the rooms are kept in great shape and very clean, I commend the cleaning staff. My biggest beef is with the front desk staff. When I first arrived they had a hard time finding my booked room, I am talking about a 25-minute wait time. After finding the reservation the girl at the front desk was unsure how to check me in! This was another 20 minutes. I booked for 3 weeks but found out I would have to re-register each week or they would close out the room. Found this out when I came back to my room and the key card did not work. The breakfast was a joke and not a funny one, the mystery meat was terrible and the eggs looked like they used powered eggs. I settled for an Apple, I believe the 5-star reviews must have come from family, there is no way my visit was that much different than other people's. One thing more, I had to extend my stay by 1 day and asked if the current daily charge would be the same, The clerk said no, they would have to charge full price. I couldn't believe this, I had been there for 3 weeks! The extra money was the only consideration, the increase was only $20.00 more for the extra day to get to the full price. For me, It's not the money but the lack of customer loyalty. Never again. read more

The room (319) smelled like urine and when informed the staff didn't do anything about it. We had to go buy air freshener just to make the room habitable and when I was getting the cost of the supplies back at check out, it turned into a 15 minute argument with the manager over the fact that it's not their responsibility to follow up on complaints, it's the guest's. They claimed that the desk employee went up to our room shortly after we notified them which was around 02:00, but being that we were up until 04:30-0500ish and we never heard a single knock I find that hard to believe. And being that housekeeping never came in the morning either, clearly these kinds of complaints fall through the cracks. Absolutely horrible establishment. read more

We decided to go to Kings Island for a quick fun day and chose BW to stay at. The main positive was the friendly front desk clerk who checked us in. He was nice enough to come up to our room to check on the flat screen TV that wouldn't work after D went down to the lobby to complain. It ended up we had to go to the menu options and switch to HMDI to get it going. We thought the fix would be permanent but we had to do it again each time we returned to the room. Internet connectivity was mostly dead. It would at most on average have 3 bars and constantly disconnect. There's a Mason Inn that's across the street that had a solid 5 bars. We surmised the connectivity issues could be because we were in a corner room. We finally gave up and thankfully my phone WIFI worked fine. The toilet kept running through the night and on our last day decided to overflow. The shower drain also refused to drain properly. We notified management who came in with a plunger to resolve. Also we were told free continental breakfast would run till 10AM but we got there at 9:15 and luckily were able to make a waffle and get a banana before they started cleaning out everything. Room itself was dated but mostly clean. If in the area again I'd likely check out other options. read more

Comfortable hotel and very good experience overall. Easy to find even at night; easy entry/exit, Ample parking, Rooms have nice fridge, freezer and microwave. Tons of stores (Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, Home Depot, Target, etc.) and eateries within a mile. Very friendly and efficient front desk staff. No issues with noise from other rooms. Exercise room is very basic with 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical and weights. There are sidewalks nearby and you can walk/jog there. Breakfast is OK and was the same for the 10 days I was there - eggs, sausage links, waffles, real oatmeal, bread/bagels for toasting, fresh apples, bananas, cereal and yogurt. Housekeeping was the weakest aspect - they overlooked stuff like emptying the ice bucket, replacing the empty tissue box, cleaning the mirror and cleaning the microwave. read more

This was a better-than-average Best Western. The person at the front desk was very helpful and very friendly, and the check-in was smooth. The room was very small, but clean, and there were not any major flaws. The hotel is a little older, however, and wouldn't hurt if it had some renovation. The main floor smelled really strong of chlorine from the pool, which was the first thing I noticed when I walked in. Finally, the continental breakfast was mediocre, but I don't expect much from a value hotel. read more

The pool and hot tub area was nice and I have to say their breakfast buffet was above the rest however, our beds were rock hard and not comfortable at all. My husband spent the night in the computer chair due to a bad back and the beds being so uncomfortable. The staff is really nice. We went with them because of price and we were trying to get away for a couple days. Our normal place is a little more expensive so thought we would try out cheaper. I think we will stick to the normal which is holiday inn at the roberts center. The beds are very nice there .. just wish the price was better. If BW mason had better beds it would be our go to place for sure. read more

This Best Western was pretty much a mediocre facility at best. Let me warn you...Don't believe the "Airport location". It is 30 minutes away! Yes, that is not a misprint. It is actually 30 minutes away from the airport. Being 30 minutes away means no shuttle, which means car rental. All of these things cost $$$. So, any savings you thought you were getting, just went out the window. Allow me to continue...Hmm, I tend to think when a customer places a "do not disturb" tag on their door, or in the card slot as the DO NOT DISTURB CARD suggest, it pretty much means do not disturb. I did that twice and twice they came in my room. Can you say "Awkward Feeling". They don't offer a safe in the room and claim it has something to do with the law. However, every other hotel in their same vicinity offers one. Go figure. Staff was very friendly, the continental breakfast was fair. The room size was good and the king bed was a true king bed. Would I stay here again, I doubt it. Would I recommend it here, only if you don't need to be near the airport. read more

If you want any breakfast (even though it says it has a hot and cold breakfast and we paid 10 dollars per person more to stay here so we wouldn't have to stop down the road for food), you better be in the breakfast area as soon as it starts. The front desk clerk was very pleasant, sweet & welcoming. Why do I give it one star? Putting up the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign the first night they completely ignored it & tried to enter the room after I had raised my voice saying no & after my wife yelled out we didn't need service. I know the guy heard it & wanted to enter anyway. When I reported it to the front desk she was honest enough to admit they had reported it before. Later on after I saw the guy & I could tell he was up to no good & some of the staff around had a questionable demeanor...I'm not one bit surprised I read on other reviews that they've had their stuff stolen. I check out tomorrow & will not be surprised if stuff is missing. My car was also left with a ding at the parking lot. I would not recommend anyone staying, I don't even feel safe here. read more

After reading some bad reviews about hotels in the Kings Island area and not wanting to risk a blind bid on Priceline, we settled on Best Western since it had a heated indoor pool, full breakfast, and interior entrances. Booking through their company website using a AAA discount was cheaper than using Priceline and Hotwire since those sites tend to tack on $20-30 in fees (Best Western fees were about $12 making our final bill about $121). PROS: Breakfast was decent and they had hot eggs, sausage, biscuits/gravy, and waffles along with cereal, bagels, toast, and fruit. The small indoor pool was a good size for the kids (3' to 5' depth) and they have a hot tub. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Getting a late check-in and late check-out was no problem. The place wasn't disgusting (though not immaculate). And it was in a business district that felt safe and there were several restaurants nearby. CONS: The place wasn't new and it looks like they were trying to transition over to some more modern décor (our room had old school dressers with nice modern lamps on them). Although the rooms were generally clean, the attention to detail was lacking. There were sunflower seeds and cracker pieces around the base of the beds under the skirts. The pool floor, baseboards, and tables were dirty in the morning when they opened that area. And the teenage girl staffing the breakfast area stood around a lot instead of emptying the overflowing trash cans and cleaning up the plateful of eggs that spilled onto the floor. We only figured out she was staff because she wandered into the staff-only supply area a few times. (She did finally empty the trash.) Overall, we'd read much worse things about other hotels near Kings Island and we'd stay at the Best Western again if we were in the area (if we didn't want to pay the big bucks for Great Wolf Lodge, of course). The few issues we noticed are completely fixable with a little extra staff training. read more

This hotel far exceeded my expectations!!! My friends and I stayed here after a trip to Kings Island, and I was very impressed with the staff, the cleanliness of the facility, the modern decor, and the value for the money. Our room was very nice and up-to-date, and it was actually much nicer than most higher priced hotels that I've stayed at in the past. The staff at the front desk were very polite and helpful, and check-in and check-out were a breeze. My ONLY complaint is that the breakfast could be a little better organized, as it was very crowded, and many food items ran out while I was there (they were restocked in a resonable amount of time though). While staying here we had put a 3/4 full half gallon of vodka in our freezer that has been in other freezers for the entire week prior. Once we arrived put it in the freezer in our room immediately. After a full days stay we needed our room cleaned so we left for a few hours while the maid service cleaned our room. After returning we went to mix ourselves a drink and relax, only to find that our half gallon of Vodka was a solid block of ice. Well it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the only way vodka gets frozen like that in a mini fridge freezer is if water is added to it. So while we were out the maid staff stole some (or all) of our vodka, and tried to fill the bottle back up with water so we would not notice. We went down to the front desk to let them know the situation and were offered no solutions other than "the manager will be here tomorrow." This is a huge invasion of privacy and completely unacceptable. I will be contacting best western corporate offices to file a complaint, and telling all my family and friends (in person and on social media) to avoid this hotel read more

Great Hotel! I am not a regular customer of the Best Western Hotel chain, but this one has really changed my view of BW! Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice king suite with exceptional decor. Comfy pillow top bed, micro and fridge, indoor pool, which is amazing in the winter, and super clean rooms and very clean throughout the hotel. Breakfast was very good too. I highly recommend that you consider this hotel when in Mason, OH. The king suite is well worth the price. This hotel ranks with the Marriott Courtyards, Hyatt Place Hotels, and Holiday Inn Express.....but a far better price! read more

Awful, took almost 2 hours to check in after them telling me there lowest rate and I continued to prove them wrong and find one almost 42% off the original price. Got to our room on top floor and plumbing in bath room is broken. Girlfriend was sick and have a toilet that won't flush. Told an employee about it and still haven't heard from anyone after 6 hours. Daughter was asleep in bed on one side of room and light switches were wired wrong and kept waking her up when I would turn the switch on right insid the door. Had to just unplug the bulb. AC doesn't work. Would try and kick on but eventually after time heat would spike right back up. No trash bags in room. Daughter wakes up can't use bathroom what so ever. Has to go to first floor. Pool has been out of service and was told it would be another whole day. Walked out of my room hot as can be and room service had there cart right when I opened x mhibd read more
