A rare Hampton Inn that gave me an upgrade as a Diamond but also one desperately in need of a renovation to update the oddly dated interior. It's a theme park hotel so you aren't going to be surprised when there are a ton of families and kids running around but sound proofing (at least in my room) was decent. It was clean (but very dated looking) and service was fine - you don't interact much with digital check in! Waffle House next door and lots of other things within a short drive are a plus. Overall a solid Hampton Inn that I would stay at again. read more

We go to Kings Island every summer and always stay here because it has been wonderful. Well not this time. The room smelled musty, and our sinuses were acting up every time we entered the room almost like mold was painted over. The bathtub was all tore up and chipped so you could not bathe. On top of that, the entire bathroom smelled like Urine. The refrigerator also did not work properly. The room was disgusting. We also left the room clean, and tipped the cleaning lady like we always do. Well guess what, the property did not return our damage deposit after lying to me on the phone stating that they did. A clean and inviting pool, newly remodeled, breakfast area, and clean modern rooms make this a good choice for stays in the area. I have actually visited this Hampton many times over the years, and can say that the current owners have paid attention to detail, and invested in the building to keep it up-to-date. Stayed here before without any problems. This time? Housekeeping problem. - Mildew in the tub. -Too much hair on the outside of the tub. - Front desk essentially unattended @ 7:20AM. Knocked on the office door, no response. Kitchen/ breakfast attendant went to the back office ... said that "he is here." Almost a 10 minute wait for him to appear. I needed change to tip the breakfast attendant (Nancy rocks). Wanted to report the housekeeping snafu. I prefer a hard copy of my folio ... Room was older, but clean. Used online check in. Spent 2 nights here while exploring King's Island. Did not spend much time in hotel. Air conditioning/heating unit had a maintenance issue (loudly cycling) and disturbed my sleep. Nicely sized rooms and bathrooms (though tub could use some refinishing). Only one elevator but never had to wait long. Conveniently located for our needs. Breakfast options were varied each night we were there, which was nice. Pool seemed a little run down. Staff was overall friendly once we arrived. Had a negative experience with the manager extending our reservation without our permission and would only change it back to the original dates once we said we'd be calling corporate; thankfully the actual stay was uneventful. read more

I arrived around 1:30 PM and was told that my room was not yet ready and check-in was not until 3 pm. Totally understand, however in all my years of traveling I've rarely not been able to check-in prior to the official time. So, I grabbed a chair in the lobby and waited; the front desk cleark graciously called housekeeping and got me into a room much faster. I was so appreciative of this as I was in need of a nap and wanted to get comfortable before my event later that night. Checked in after dark. Front desk gentleman was pleasant, had my key and water in less than one minute. My room was on the top floor far end, so it was nice and quiet. We stayed here on the way back from Pigeon Forge. The location is good; close to 71, food, Kong's Island, the Beach, etc. the room was consistent with what you'd expect from Hilton. The room was clean and breakfast was busy but good. The hotel is smaller with only 3 floors but it's well kept. Good stay! read more

Most important, beds were comfortable with good linens. Bathtub had a broken stopper and something sticky on the bottom that left black footprints that didn't go away during the shower. Also, the wall needs spackle--15 minute job ignored. read more

This is a nice place! It's very close to the Kings Island amusement park and that's why we chose it. I reserved the room online which is no easy feat. Placing a reservation online with a family of 6 is quite a challenge as you have to put in the number of adults and kids and now we have 3 adults and 3 kids. Then they want you to put who is in what room and it just gets worse after that. I won't even get into what hotels call a suite and what actually is a suite, that's a whole other topic. Not every hotel has adjoining rooms and they won't even guarantee that the rooms are on the same floor. I called this place after making the reservation and the day before we checked in and scored rooms across the hall (YES!). They offer a breakfast here which is GREAT! Sometimes what they say is breakfast is bagels and orange juice, but not here. They have bagels, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, hot items like sausage, bacon, omelettes and they have a Belgian waffle maker. The rooms were very clean and the service was nice. We had to ask for more towels (as usual) and didn't get the third degree like other places. I won't get into details about the toilet problem we had (teenage boys, do I need to say more?) but they came right up to the room and fixed the issue promptly. I have to take away one star for the sporadic cooling each room had. The unit in our room would go on and off randomly giving me a sense of what hot flashes are and the one in the other room would reset to 70 degrees every 15 minutes. I would rather have had that, but I wasn't staying in there after they set up their bachelor pad! This is about 1.5 miles from Kings Island, so if you are planning a trip there, I would stay here. read more

Our rooms (three) were spacious, clean and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Out rooms each had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. This was a great overnight stay. Very quiet. I had a late check in and had no problem. The lady at the counter was very nice. Breakfast was amazing!! I haven't seen a breakfast bar like that before in a hotel. I would stay here again. Front desk was very rude and denied my friend and I our room even though we checked in ahead of time. Wouldn't recommend. Also their policy for only accepting 21 and over isn't clearly stated so we were lied to. No where on the website or inside the hotel said that we had to be 21 to check in. Poor service. read more

I spent 3 nights at this Hampton Inn. Even though they were going through a renovation, the property was clean and nice. I don't know if the room I was in had been renovated yet or not, but it was spotless and seemed very updated. My only two "must haves" in a hotel room are a comfortable bed and a great shower. This place nailed it...one of the best showers I've found in a hotel in a long time! Check in was a breeze also. The front desk staff was very friendly. I was never able to take advantage of the free breakfast, but the area where it was served was pretty nice and comfortable. I used it as a work area one afternoon. I stayed overnight after a trip to Kings Island. Check in was quick and smooth. Our room had two queen beds. Everything was immaculate in detail. The room was clean, bathroom fully stocked with everything that we needed. Hot water worked amazing. There was also a refrigerator and a microwave both clean and functioning properly. No issues with noise. Both front desk ladies were polite and made checking in and out a breeze. Would definitely stay here again. read more

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Hampton Inn, Kings Island, Ohio: The Good was the friendliness of staff, the cleanliness of the room, and the comfort of the bed. The Bad was the smell of chlorine, the slowness of the elevator, the noise of the refrigerator in the room, and the frustration of the keys not working and need to reprogram them. NOT impressed! It appears they recently remodeled but our room was a bit dirty. I hate seeing previous guests hair on the floor. I have short hair and my husband is bald so I know it's not ours. Pool was closed, no given reason. The free breakfast was completely tasteless. We stayed here only due to being close to Kings Island but would not stay again. I stay at Hampton inn's all the time. They are usually great. The staff here is nice but the hotel is SO run down. My room smelled like cherry car freshener. The ceiling in the breakfast area was leaking all over the place. They put money in to the exterior and the superficial but under it all it still needs work. The pool looks cloudy and like it was painted. But again the staff is not to blame. They are always asking how my stay is and I don't want to tell them that I think their place of employment is a smelly dump with modern furnishings. Either way it was the only hotel available on short notice so it had to do. There are worst things in life, it's not a motel 6 ;) (maybe an 8). read more

There was construction that we were never told about. The room smelled like vinegar. The pool had chucks of the ceiling that were cracking and leaking water into the pool. Our toilet had pee stains around it that was never cleaned. The floors in the hallways, stair, and through out the Hotel were run down so much that it smelled. The towels they left us in the bathroom had reddish stains on them... This was by far the worst Hotel I have ever stayed at. The last time I was unhappy with a Hampton inn I told the front desk they told there manager and I got an email that said sorry and that was it... So this time I'm telling everyone I know... I would love to give them zero stars. The room was fine, the hotel was fine, but the fact that my credit card was double billed and that when I called the hotel, Chyyra (spelling unclear) was extremely rude, acted like I was accusing her of something and hung up on me. When I called back, she hung up on me again as soon as I started talking. I went through the Hilton Corporation Complaint Resolution online, and I've heard nothing back from them either after two inquiries. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will let them take it from here. But the third party that I went through to book the room (and pay in advance) said the hotel will not get back to them. I can understand a mistake in double billing, but the actions of Chyyra has lost them a customer (of ANY Hilton franchise) for life. Too many choices to have to put up with a chain that employs people like that. read more
