This is a two star motel at best. Front desk staff unprofessional and clearly not trained. Room was dark and dismal. A/C unit was horrible - way too loud and cold when on, too hot and still when off - so spent an evening alternating between freezing and sweating. In room fridge door was broken and front desk staff did NOTHING to replace, whining that "the service man has done home for the day!" I noted the time at a little past 5, so obviously this guy had somewhere else to be. Did not cannibalize another room or even have any spares - no offer to discount our room and no offer to add points to our BestWestern membership. And on top of this the room rate was more than the room - even if it worked properly - was worth - so we spent one crummy evening with unprofessional staff in a cold/hot/noisy room and we're charged this privilege. We only booked here because we were traveling with dogs. Motel management is NOT rocket science people, just attention to detail and relentless followup. These folks want to take shortcuts and hope travelers won't notice. How do they stay in business? I was so pissed I cancelled our return stay and booked at another location. Every stay at this particular Best Western has been a solid 4 star experience. This is not, nor does it purport to be, a "five star" luxurious hotel. Rather, it is an affordable; kid friendly; clean; well staffed; well maintained motel with courteous employees; free wi-fi & continental breakfast; a 24 hour indoor pool & hot tub; and fridge, microwave, iron & ironing board in each guest room. Conveniently located (easy on/off freeway access); UofO right across the street; near Autzen & boutique shopping; restaurants & coffee shops nearby. I've stayed with a gaggle of high school age girls during winter percussion/guard competitions (Hail Mac Court!) and with friends during Duck home football game (AUTZEN!) weekends. Nothing like pulling into a hotel at almost midnight after a long day's drive. We were exhausted, but as soon as we walked into the room we felt comfortable. The bed was big and comfy, the room was quiet and nicely furnished and there was a small fridge for my cooler food. When I awoke in the morning, I opened the back curtain and was nicely surprised by the view. A woodsy ravine with a tangle of large mature trees right near to the window, and peaking through the branches I could see a river with a pair of Mallard ducks! -sweet. The breakfast offerings are not terribly exciting but locally there are a lot of choices. We found a wonderful cafe, Vero. This Best Western is a little on the higher end at 94$ off season. read more

SHAME ON YOU BEST WESTERN! Traveling from California to Oregon with my son who is in the Navy and on to his next post in Washington. After a long day of driving (arrived after 9:00pm), we decided to stay at the BW New Oregon having had great experiences with this hotel chain. My son went to check in and ask if they had a military discount, yes they do. Great, need a room with two beds. Oh, the discount only applies for one bed. Huh? Doesn't make sense, but we're tired and thought we'd sort it out in the morning. The next day I ask again about the military discount. Sorry, it's BW's policy to only give the discount on a single bed room. I ask what if people are traveling with families? Shug. I say, what difference does a bed type make, either you offer a discount or you don't? Shrug - it's policy. By the way, we stayed at a BW in Texas and they bent over backwards to give us every discount available - so that shoots your policy in the butt. Thanks Best Western for supporting the men, women and their families in the military. You've lost my hard earned dollars. read more

We came and stayed here after staying at best westerns in Washington and Portland the previous few days. This one was more expensive and sorely lacking. The room is small, but the bathroom is like a converted closet. Showered in the morning and the water went from cold to luke warm then back to boiling. Noises outside all night prevented anyone from getting rest. Had the air conditioner on (hot and humid out) and it was super noisy. When I went to swim there was a man obviously drunk alone who later started doing inappropriate things to himself in the jacuzzi. The area didn't seen to be monitored by the staff at all, as there were wet towels and trash in the hallway. The pool was lovely but after that incident I wasn't comfortable using it. I wouldn't stay here again, and definitely would not recommend it. Not a comfortable room or restful nights sleep. read more

We are visiting Oregon and found this hotel online, a place I've seen often having grown up In Eugene. We just had a wonderful experience at Best Western in Ashland the two nights before. The checkin was easy on a Saturday but the two guys at the front desk looked more like offensive lineman than clerks and one had purple hair and such a bad dandruff problem, large flakes were falling from his hair as we did the paperwork, it was utterly off putting. No mention of wifi, very sloppy directions to our room and no water or snack like best Western in Ashland did as a loyalty member. We have a family suite in the back of the hotel upstairs and were immediately hit with the dramatic fact that the room balcony both in front and creek facing have old railing systems (1960-70's) which has spacing that a kid can very easily fall to their death both in front along the doors to the rooms but even off the deck where the creek is which means you should not open you doors for balcony and fresh air! this was a huge disappointment. Wifi was easy to connect to, but less than dialup speeds so useless. When I called tech support the IT support tech said it was a way under provisioned circuit (35mb) but over 80+ people were connected so it was "going to be useless". Total fail. The housekeeping was poor on arrival (e.g crumbs on coffee machine and cups) and when they serviced our room later in day they took the used towels but did not replenish! Front desk lady just brought them up. Alarm clocks went off at midnight and 2am so never reset. The rooms were spacious and beds while old, were fine. The shower has grime and needs a good heavy duty clean. We have huge u haul trucks taking up entire rows of parking in front of family suites which is a mess. Overall we have usually had wonderful experiences at best western, but this new Oregon branch totally failed us. read more

Spent one night here as a stopping point on our way to Ashland. We were not disappointed in our choice. This is not luxury accommodations, but is a clean, comfortable, quiet place to spend the night. We had a king-size bed, a fridge to keep our cold stuff cold, and microwave so I could heat water for my morning tea. As the kids say, winner! Our room included a small, private balcony that overlooked some walking trails and a river, in which were floating some genuine Oregon ducks. :--) It was lovely place to sit for a spell in the evening, and, on the beautiful summer night we were there, we kept the balcony door open to let in the breeze. (Only drawback was, despite our room and all the ones around it being designated as "non-smoking," in the morning, someone in a neighboring room was smoking out on his own balcony and the smell wafted into our room. Blech!) We skipped the complimentary breakfast not because it looked bad (it actually looked just fine), but because we had just spent three nights at another hotel that offered a too-similar breakfast (which we ate each day) and wanted a change of pace. (We ended up eating at the nearby Studio One Café, which proved to be an awesome choice.) The front desk staff (actually, the same person was there for both check-in and check-out) was friendly and efficient and the process was quick and easy on both ends. Was the only place that had a room on our way home from San Fran to Vancouver BC. The front desk was friendly but the bed and the room was horrible. We found some food wrappers on the floor of the room, the bed had basically collapsed in the middle and was super uncomfortable. It was their last room and our booking was non refundable so we sucked it up. We will definitely look for better accommodations on our next trip. read more

This is a 1 star hotel. Service if lucky will be 3-4 star but rarely if ever 5. This is with everything, from the humidity and smoke stained dinge permeating the walls and linen (or lack thereof) in a smoke free room, so little to no hot water if at all, heat not working on a 25 degree night, and doors/keys randomly malfunctioning. I was booked here on Christmas night because the storm took out computers (whatever that means) at the Hayward, a newer barely 3.5 star hotel. They still charged me deposit and tried to charge me for the full room. I got the impression that no one really cared, and of course being Christmas, wanted to be at work. Well guess what, I didn't want to be on a delayed flight, I didn't want to be without a rental car because Budget rental in Eugene airport sucks, I didn't want to be walking through a snow storm and getting drenched by cars splashing puddles during my walk over to best western from Hayward at 10:30pm at night, starving from a whole day of traveling that started at 0700, but I had a great attitude and even paid your silly fees because you couldn't have communication, you couldn't take the effort to verify my booking already paid for, you didn't have the compassion to think about the customer- so instead of my $117 payment for a slightly more comfier room at Hayward I had to come here, and be haggled to stay in your crappy motel, or be without a room, because YOUR leadership was too incompetent to have the most BASIC of business continuity installed, so as to have some redundancy in their business which greatly impacts people when nonfunctional. So i couldn't have my family dropped off in Best Western dingy room and go have din like we planned, I had to hit the road first thing am to go 60 miles to pick them up. Did they care? No. No late checkout, no communication between stores nothing. I'll expand on this on my review for the Hayward, and the insane experience there. In short, the front desk people were pretty cool especially for a crazy Christmas influx of people due to their supposed tech issues, but don't rent here, because if there's a storm or a simple computer issue they won't be able to help you in any way, whether it's printing keys or checking your reservation, they don't have the foresight to protect their investment, and the rooms are filthy, not properly maintained, and this is worse than just an operational issue, this is a neglected property and this is fully the issue of the management and owners- no pride of ownership. They lost $1200 I gladly paid the Airbnb for a MUCH better experience with my children, and will continue to lose at both places as I share my story with my social networks and colleagues, I'd never let anyone else experience this if I could help it. The next day working with the same management and team at Hayward was pretty much a similar disappointment. Think they offered any help with checkout, or care? Think they honored my request for a Comp due to them not having my room available? I essentially ended up paying double for a best western suite and being charged for a Hayward suite. Worst stay if it wasn't for this being the only place with a room we wouldn't have even considered staying here. The first night there was no hot water to shower with and the linen smelt like underarms as if it was never washed. We let the front desk know about it and they never even came to change the linen. There was also a chip on the carpet outside the door the first night when we came and the third day we left the chip was still sitting on the floor outside my door. Front desk was super helpful at the end of our stay however really if your job is to clean please just CLEAN! On more then 1 occasion I saw the housekeeping staff standing around talking. Jordan in the front desk is amazing she addressed all our concerns professionally and is a really know how to take charge kinda gal. I've definitely been to better Best Westerns. The staff was perfectly nice, although completely wrong in giving directions to my room; I have a feeling they say "straight back" to everyone even though my room was on the back side of the motel to the far right. The furniture in the room was clearly somewhat updated and looked nice. The reason for the low score comes down to smell. It was musty and the air conditioner made horrible noises. I think I dehumidifier and some airing out could go a long way in this place. read more

This hotel was an extreme disappointment. I would highly discourage anyone from staying here. First of all, all three of us woke with large bed bug bites on ankles, arms, and legs. Second, the whole place is very run down and covered up by a few simple upgrades to entice people to stay anyways. The room was very small but packed full of pointless furniture that made moving around the room near impossible. The whole town is super run-down and nasty, especially for being a college town, though the hotel can not control that, I believe it's important to include this so you may decide if you'd rather stay in another town, as we would have done if someone would have told us this. The only positive experience was the woman at the front desk who was helpful and kind and a semi-good breakfast spread, and that is the only thing that makes this hotel worth even 1 star. We were all very irritated that we did not go to the other hotel down the road. If you wish to spend a good chunk of money on a restless, bug infested, run-down place to spend a night or two, this is a wonderful option. *UPDATE* We called to speak to the front desk staff about the bugs, and they simply said they would call management to look at the room. She did not offer a refund or anything at all. She seemed to not care whatsoever. We have to sterilize all our clothes and blankets and pillows to prevent from bringing the bedbugs home. We are all very itchy and simply infuriated. They are so lucky we aren't suing. This is extremely unacceptable. I truly wish to give 0 stars. read more

We came here for one night with our three kids and booked off hotels.com. The kids loved the pool, which is open until midnight and that's nice. Also, check out is at 12pm which is later than most hotels. The customer service at the front desk was good. Our stay came with free breakfast, which was fruit, yogurt, pancakes, biscuits and gravy... All were good. Overall our only complaint was that our room REEKED like smoke when we got in, but we were able to open the window and air it out. Other than that all was great and we would stay again. Pros: Very friendly staff. Very nice rooms. Smaller bathrooms with granite counter tops. I would rather have a bigger bed area anyway. The king bed was very comfortable. Cons: Would of wanted eggs and sausage with their breakfast. There is a slight smell coming from the outside walkways. It was nicely carpeted, but with the rainy weather, there was an odor. This Motel is so much better than I expected it to be! Our room was spotless clean, quiet and the beds very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the complimentary breakfast delicious and clean. They had bagels, muffins, other pastries and bread, cereals, jam, cream cheese, honey, eggs prepared in 3 different ways and other hot items, juice, water, hot chocolate, tea and coffee, yoghurt and fruit. More than enough in my opinion. The breakfast area is very modern and clean and had enough seating for everyone. The indoor pool is not very big but definitely a great place to rewind or for exercising. They even have a hot top and outdoor sun bathing area, small but clean and welcoming. It's right across the street from The University of Oregon and has a bus stop right in front of the door. Downtown is only about 1 mile away and the basket ball stadium of the University across the street. The prices are reasonable as well. We will definitely be back. The reason why they don't get 5 stars from me is that it's right on a busy street and I personally don't like having all cars parked right outside my window. But this will not keep me from coming back. It's a great place to stay. read more

My boyfriend and I had book at a cheap motel in downtown that was absolutely disgusting. When we decided not to stay there we booked a room at bestwestern in the space of five minutes and were treated so kindly. Our room was lovely and comfortable and clean, and the staff was so pleasant and helpful! The hotel is right across the street from U of O and so close to everything downtown. In my opinion this motel could be the standard against which you might measure other motels. One of BW's larger properties, it's amenities are too numerous to list, please see the Amenities list on the motel's website. They strive to meet most every need a traveler may have. They have an indoor pool, exercise center, family rooms, ADA accessible rooms and rooms that accommodate pets. The only complaint I had was that we could have used an additional blanket at night, but I was too lazy to ask for one. Breakfast in the large breakfast room was very good and in addition to the usual fare included pre-made omelets, sausage, fresh fruit and oatmeal. And all this for about ($78) on New Year's Eve. We celebrated with dinner and a few games of 8-ball at McMenamin's East 19th St Café just a walk away. If you'll be staying for a while, consider the back units of the two-story section of the motel behind the office. These units have balconies with chairs overlooking a creek and office park that is very quiet and peaceful and you can walk on the streamside path for some distance. Interesting note: this motel is the only BW that is within 100 yards of another BW, the Greentree, also on Franklin. read more

We travelled to Eugene to visit our son attending Grad School at UO. The BW was a perfect location 5 minute walk to our sons apartment and across the street from UO. The Willamette River and Pre's Trail is just behind the hotel. Check in was friendly and fast. The hotel itself could use an update. It was a bit run down. Our room had a balcony on the creek which was nice but there were a lot of little bitey flying bugs. The bathroom door had to be shoved hard to stay closed. The bathroom tiles need to be redone. The room needs better lighting. Even with all the lights on it was still dark. With just a little bit of updating it would be a perfect hotel. However the king size bed was super comfy!! read more

I come to Eugene often to use the world class microscopy facilities at CAMCOR. It's Eugene, so hotel options are well, limited. I quit staying at the Holiday Inn because bed bugs aren't my bag, baby. Generally I stay at one of the two best westerns, the greentree (nice location, pizza and market of choice near by) and the new oregon. So M-F I stayed at the Greentree, wow, it was amazing, children laughed, I saw a butterfly, no really, it had reasonably comfortable bed, and was reasonably quiet. It's a hotel, not your bedroom, and the cheap ass bastards you work for won't pay more than per Diem. Ok, so I had to stay longer, 2 days, and the only real option was the new oregon. I check in, go to the room and........dog feces, yeah, they take dogs here, and it seems while they will charge you $100 for a dog deposit (fee) they don't really have, lets say, attention to detail regarding cleaning dog feces from the carpet, can I say shit? Now I am a very tolerant person, how did i know the dank heavy smell in the room was Fido's finest? Well we have dogs. I go to to the front office, and I know it isn't their fault, to get another room, seems my options are dog shit or smoker. Is this Czechoslovakia (cool your beard fandango, yeah I know, it's the Czech Republic, have you been there? I have, it's the Mexico of Europe), are you Kafka? Come on now. Zero points. Come on you cheap bastards, it's great that you take pets, really this is awesome, no really it's great, but have your maids (see above) or better yet, the front staff go into the room when the people check out, and give it a sniff, then take the hundy you didn't earn and either give it back to them or clean the god damn carpets. This place is horrible and will never stay here again. I'm currently writing this from a hunched positioned because my back is killing me from the horrible bed I slept on. The pillows are flat and should really just be non-existent considering the level of support they give. It was like my head was directly on the mattress anyway. The room was freezing and needed to run the heat which shuts off every five minutes and then when it kicks back on it's as loud as the train that blares near by. Wonderful when you're exhausted and trying to sleep. No blankets on the bed, just some thin sheets. I was (stressing the word "was") looking forward to sleeping in after not being able to fall asleep until sometime around 3am. No such luck, however, when - even though there's a Do Not Disturb sign on our door - the cleaning staff decided to bust out their industrial vacuum right next door and started vacuuming. Which means louder than anything I can imagine. Or maybe as loud as that train again. No, the vacuum's actually louder. Oh and slamming doors going in and out. That was a wonderful bonus too. We spent 4 days here while in town for a wedding, and were pleased with the accommodations. If you're visiting the University of Oregon, you couldn't find a better location. The dorms are right across the street, as is the brand new behemoth of a basketball arena. Also, Autzen stadium is a short walk through the park. Really, the location couldn't be better. The staff was friendly and helpful (the check-in guy had an English accent... wow!), and they offered up an indoor heated pool (nice considering that most months don't warrant an outdoor one) with a sun deck, a racketball court, sauna, easy to use wi-fi and a fairly decent continental breakfast (bagels, muffins, biscuits and gravy). The rooms were nice and spacious, although the whole place seemed old. The only complaints we had were that there was no microwave and the hair dryer didn't work very well (so pack one in if needed). The Willamette River is right behind the place, along with miles of awesome running trails, and there's plenty of quality restaurants within walking distance. Overall, we enjoyed our visit here, and for a reasonable rate, and we plan to return on future trips to town. read more

This property has been upgraded from almost run down to rather nice. The addition of the Matthew Knight Arena across the street has likely been a big factor in the need for upgrades. Yes, the buildings are old with exterior entrances. But that's where it stops being a motel and turns into a much nicer room than you would find at most of the motels in this city. The king room is very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and I wasn't afraid to actually sleep between the sheets! They offer free breakfast with a really cool automated pancake maker! Way better and less mess compared to the waffle makers I see everywhere else! They offer a nice variety of breads, real oatmeal with a variety of toppings, and even Biscuits & Gravy! I was a little disappointed that even though they gave us the option of using durable plates and bowls along side the paper plates, we had only plastic utensils to use and then throw into the garbage. When making your reservation, read all the notices about pricing policy. The only policy I did not see on line is where this property adds a $30 refundable fee to your card which is explained upon check in and refunded at check out. It's for those folks who use the phone but try to get away with not paying the long distance charges. As for the location, you can't get much closer to the arena. It's also a short walk to Autzen Stadium. Beware when booking that if there is any type of major sporting event in town you will not find a room! So, plan ahead. read more

It's fairly inexpensive, located right across from the University of Oregon (so we don't have to worry about parking, very convenient), and they have free wi-fi. The rooms are acceptable. They're clean. The one we had smelled a bit off, but whatever. It's a motel. I mean what do you expect? This ain't The Mandalay Bay or Royal Hawaiian Hotel, it's freaking Eugene, Orygun! If I was forced to invent a single word to describe this place it would be "oldish". As with most of the places to stay in Eugene the Best Western New Oregon Motel is a relic of the 80s. If you like the 80s and the lack of niceities that the hotels of the lates 90s and 2000s brought us (fluffy towels, comfy beds with excessive amounts of pillows, good showers with nice soaps, 50" flat screen monitors in the rooms, etc) then this place is exactly what you're looking for. It was conveniently located across the street from the Univ of Oregon, and near the Riverwalk Research Park entrance. It was pet-friendly, clean, and felt secure. Our room was clean albeit small. Comfortable beds gave us all a goodnight sleep. I was able to safely and confidentally take my dog for a walk. I used and appreciated the small but well-equipped fitness center. I really enjoyed breakfast in the clean, nicely decorated, comfortable breakfast area. The BW organization does a great job of training its members as seen in their consistent courteousness and efficiency. I've become a big fan of the Best Western hotel chain. read more
