Rooms & fixtures have been updated, are clean. Quiet, located near a residential neighborhood, & a Catholic church, away from most noisy truck traffic. Pet friendly room is adjacent to safe area to walk pet. Rooms have newer microwave, mini Fridge, satellite TVs. All rooms non-smoking. Lobby is updated. Friendly & helpful desk staff. Breakfast buffet was adequate: hot food in crockpots. Negatives: The exterior appearance, conditon needs work. A derelict former diner building is adjacent which makes this motel look seriously sketchy. Parking lot & walkways show too many gross cigarette butts tossed by careless guests or staff taking smoke breaks. Walkways could use power washing, trash receptacles should be cleaned or replaced. The adjacent residential neighborhood seems to include some heavy cannabis users, so if the smell of drifting marijuana smoke is a turn off, this could be a problem; however much of Oregon deals with this issue, so not unusual. But if traveling with children, that might be problematic. Despite the negatives, I will stay there again when traveling with my dog & to save $$. For this solo female traveler the property felt safe enough. I didn't detect any obvious drug/criminal activity on the property. read more

Stayed here for a wedding. As I checked in, they ask, "Do you want housekeeping?" I say yes. Next day, leave for the day. When I get back it's clear housekeeping has been there. Swapped towels, emptied trash, etc. The one thing they didn't do? Make up the bed. Apparently that's not part of housekeeping here. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and this has never happened before. Overall, it's a nice place. Clean, well-maintained, nice staff. They just don't care about your bed, I guess. read more

What a wonderful place! We needed a place to crash after a long drive and chanced upon this place. It was 4am and we were beat. The staff were so hospitable. They were able to get us a room and gave us a little extra time for checkout since we were arriving so late. We woke up in time to catch their complementary breakfast which was very good! Such a disappointment. After a long day driving and towing a trailer we were so excited to arrive and put our heads on the pillow. My uncle made the rez thru a 3rd party and said he told the person there would be 2 adults and 1 pet. (He's done a lot of travelling and booking so I'm very doubtful he forgot to mention the dog) When I went to check in, the gal at the desk was super nice and almost seemed to expect us as she used my uncle's last name before I could say what name the rez was under. She needed a card for incidentals, which came as no surprise. I assume I did sign the check-in paperwork b/c they said I did, but I didn't take the time to read any of the fine print, nor did the gal mention about needing a special room if we had a pet... The room itself was your avg roadside stop--nothing to write home about, rough, industrially washed sheets, sandpaper towels, and bad lighting, but it was clean. Just as I was changing into my jammies, the room phone rang and it was the front desk gal. She asked if I lost a sparkly earring, which, unbeknownst to me I had. I remember thinking how nice it was for her to let me know. I commented to my aunt that's why I love small towns -- people seem to care just a little more. Well...fast forward a day and I notice two charges from the Cottage Grove Inn on my account--one was for $100, the other for $200. I was surprised by the amounts but I didn't think too much of it as I know it often takes a few days for the charges t reverse. Fast forward again, now about a week and the charges were still there so I attempted to reach the inn (a couple of times). I got a recording telling me that the number was for new reservations only and to dial a different (toll free) number for anything else. So, I called that number. I spoke with someone who I assume was doing the job from another country because of a very thick accent and the background telemarketing- sounding noise (& btw, this is not a big deal to me). I explained the sitch and requested they put the $ back in my account. I was assured they would look into it and get back to me. No one did. I was finally able to get through to someone at the actual Cottage Grove Inn. The gal that answered looked up the rez, asked if a pet stayed in the room, to which I replied yes. She went on to inform me (& kind of in a tone that was both patronizing and irritated) there was no mention of a pet on the reservation and that one of the charges was for that, and the other was for the additional cleaning needed b/c of aforementioned pet. We were in the room for less than 10 hours. My dog is short haired, medium size, very clean and well behaved dog who did nothing but sleep, drink some water and maybe eat a bowl of kibble. She has short hair so, yes, I'm sure there was some fur remnants that might have required another go-around with the vacuum and possibly a lint brush sweep, but certainly not $300 worth of cleaning. I mean, holy hell, that's close to 3x the cost of the room. SO...go to Cottage Grove OR b/c it looks like a darling town, but if you choose to stay at the Cottage Grove Inn, and have a pet, make sure you make that crystal clear or be prepared to pay the equivalent of the price of a 5 hotel. read more

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was nothing fancy, your standard hotel fare. The rooms were actually pretty dirty, with greasy hand prints and dirt around the doors and touch surfaces. At one point, one of our guest rooms had an unwanted visitor when my mother was inside alone. An unknown male knocked on her door and attempted to enter the room. Would I stay here again? If I was on a budget, yes. The staff was friendly and attentive. The room quality, not so much. I think with a better cleaning regimen and pride of ownership this hotel could really level itself up. Stayed here for a week for work, and it was a great stay. There are restaurants, coffee and a gas station down the street within walking distance. It's quiet and quaint. The front desk and housekeeping are very friendly, and pet friendly. The only complaint I had was that my room had a few spiders in the ceiling, webs behind the door, and in the shower. Other than that the room was very clean, and I just passed it as a form of the room not being used since I was in the end I figured it was rarely used. But the room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The tv wasn't capable for add ons like a fire stick or gaming console because the remote was very limited and no input switch option. The breakfast was a great selection and open for several hours. Many options and healthy. I would definitely recommend this anyone staying for more than just a night, with all the amenities in and around the inn were fantastic. I would love to stay again during my next visit. read more

No longer Quality Inn, rather Cottage Grove Inn. Looks like they have been spiffing the place up. Yes, some imperfections here and there, but the place was clean and, most importantly very friendly staff. It seemed we were staying with family. Great vibe there. They had a suite with two separate rooms (I snore). Cool side notes: excellent Indian food next door. Also Animal House was partially filmed in Cottage Grove, most notably the parade. The armory was used for some interior scenes. This hotel has interesting related literature including articles and photos published in the local paper during filming back in 1977. read more

-they had me at m&ms... I'm a woman traveling alone this trip, and I was concerned about safety. The neighborhood is quiet despite being right by hwy5. When I arrived I was greeted by Christine, who was very friendly and helpful. There were surveillance cameras right on the wall where she could see the whole property (there's the safety part), she let me know that waiting for me in my in room fridge were two cold bottles of water and some M&Ms. She also suggested the best place to park and a few ideas for dinner- along with the tip that you get a little discount if you mention staying here. My room was freshly redone with new carpet, linens etc. all very nice and super clean. I was able to walk across the street for fantastic pork chops (Vintage Inn). I stopped in the office on my way back just in time for a warm chocolate chip cookie! Their hot tub/spa was not functioning when I was here, but I enjoyed a lovely soak in the tub in my room- a very welcome splurge after 9 hrs on the road. If there were neighbors, I never heard them. The air conditioner was a little noisy for me, but I'm a light sleeper and don't have air conditioning at home. Breakfast was pretty incredible. Debbie kept everything clean and refilled. There were make yourself waffles- with your choice of reg or blueberry, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy. Along with all the usual breads, fruit, yogurt and cereals. I was very surprised at how nice this hotel is. All budget hotels need to take a lesson from this Quality Inn. First, the staff is very friendly and helpful....from check-in to breakfast. All the guest rooms have been upgraded in the past year so expect clean, stylish, comfortable rooms. There is a refrigerator and a microwave in each room which is great for travelers. Both bedside lamps have USB ports and an electrical outlet. The TV is surprisingly large for a budget hotel. There are also two full length mirrors in the room which is a nice touch. Breakfast is included every morning. The breakfast is pretty average, however, the coffee is very good. Quality inn will now be my go-to for a budget hotel. read more

Top notch service from the moment i walked in, the lobby is very room as was the room I stayed in. Plenty of parking, area is clean and well-lit. Quiet inside at night, no road noise. The breakfast that's included is huge, they have a list of like 20 things, such a nice change compared to the stale bread & cereal offered with most free hotel breakfasts. This room was filthy. The door jams are banged up outside and inside. Paint everywhere it's more like a run down Motel 6. There was no shower curtain. The soaps were dirty on the outside packaging and there was left over soap in the shower from the last person!! Not to mention wrappers on the floor of Capri Sun. The blue chair in the room was filthy and stained. We slept in our clothes afraid to catch something from the sheets. The room smelled like cigarettes and our door was open when we went to check in. When my friends and I first check in to this Quality Inn we were just expecting a mediocre motel. Since we were tired from travel, the price and free breakfast totally sold it!. When we open the door, to our surprise the room is so inviting!! It is newly remodeled with great contemporary decor that every adult would appreciate. The room is clean and well put. It furnishes with nice bed mattress with comfortable quality bed sheets. Flat screen tv that is unexpected size for average room. It also comes with microwave,fridge all in one neat cabinet.there is a desk comfortable enough to do work for business people out there. The bathroom has great lighting with all the amenities properly placed by the bathroom. This is one of the first motel ive ever walk barefooted . Thats how much i feel at ease with the place. After viewing the Eclipse and not sleeping for 30 hours (drove all night from CA)... This place was great! I called to ask if we could get an early check-in... Kristel was awesome, super nice, and granted our request. The room was very nice & clean, smelled good, and had very comfy beds. (We slept 13 hours) Our refrigerator even had bottled water and a bag of M & Ms... Woo-hoo! The pool was clean, comfortable temperature, did not smell of chemicals, but could use new pool towels. The spa was a little intimidating (needs new coating/paint) but again, clean, and did not smell of harsh chemicals. Breakfast was satifying... Coffee, biscuits and gravy? Awesome. Will return. There was a mix up on our reservation and the clerk was very rude about it. We ended up staying anyway but the only room left was a suite. The room appears to be clean but it was hot and it smelled old and musty. We had trouble getting the tv to work. I wanted to leave but couldn't afford to pay for another motel. Will never stay in a Quality Inn again. Update- the morning that we checked out I was able to figure out what happened with our reservation and it turns out it was my mistake. The clerk was very helpful and discounted our room for us. She gave me good advise on how to attempt to get our money back. I feel better about this place now. read more

So clean! Super friendly staff! Needed a room last minute and must have picked up the last available one. There were races of some kind in town and the place was almost fully booked. Gal on the phone could not have been more down to earth and helpful. The second floor room was clean, fresh and welcomingly cool. Beds were comfy, pillows were fluffy. Definitely a great and clean place to stay. I was down in Roseburg working a construction job, our company always chooses Quality Inn. I did tell the housekeeper my room needed new towels and the trash taken out, when I got back from work that day I realized it wasn't done so I told the front desk. Mariah immediately restocked my towels, collected the trash, and even left me a note apologizing for the inconvenience. She mentioned she was new and didn't know how the towels were to be placed in the room, for being new she definitely made a great impression on how they train their staff.
