The room was not clean upon arrival. The floors and surfaces were visibly dirty, and the overall condition of the room did not meet basic hygiene standards. Traveling with my wife and infant, cleanliness is not optional -- it is essential. More seriously, there were ongoing disturbances outside our room late at night. Groups were congregating near the walkway, smoking, being loud, and there was fighting going on. At one point, an individual approached our door and repeatedly stated our room number. This behavior was alarming and completely unacceptable in a property that is supposed to provide safety and security for guests. Due to the combination of unsanitary room conditions and the unsafe environment, we did not feel comfortable remaining at the property. read more

They always accommodate me over the years that I've been coming here for leisure with my grandchildren or my children. Thank goodness I'm doing the review and not my husband because he was a little bit negative this time about this place. We stayed here for a wedding anniversary, and got the big in room Spa. Problems: we found somebody else's pants in the dresser, there were spider webs in the corner by the window with two spiders in it, we found one dead millipede and one very much a live one in the bathroom that we caught and set loose. The room seem tidy enough, but they were very cheap with the blanket one thin blanket no comforter. It was a little cold in there the room is very drafty. TV was great lots of channels, breakfast was pretty good although it was obvious that it was microwave frozen food but they had a pretty good selection. My husband was complaining about noise most of the night it is next to the highway and there was a lot of traffic being as it was the night before Christmas Eve, and then to top it off there was a train that just laid on the horn at 5:00 in the morning. I would stay here again for the hot tub because it's wonderful! I don't know if I can talk him into it again though. They do need some work on the housekeeping read more

My friends stayed here for a baseball tournament and it was awful. The place is old, run down and the rooms are just plain dirty. Lots of bugs, including cockroaches both in the rooms and at the pool. Its one thing for a hotel to be older and need a remodel but to not be cleaned properly is ridiculous. There were dust balls in the corners of the room with hair in them. When the sheets were pulled back to check for bed bugs, you could see the dirt around the bed frame. Disgusting! read more

When we arrived at Best Western Orchard Inn at midnight on September 10, 2020, the front desk person refused to check us in because I was using a debit card and we needed to use a credit card (both my debit cards also can be run as credit cards but stick boy refused to hear any of it). We don't use actual credit cards or carry them on us. We had already reserved the room the day before, but regardless he refused to let me use debit card to check in. We have a special needs son that recently had open heart surgery, and he was in need of all his medications, and now we could not do that because this IDIOT at the front desk refused to take my debit card. So, we had to wake up family members that were fast asleep, and have them go to the front desk and use their credit card to check us in. This fellow at the front desk was rude to me, rude to my wife, and just a complete miserable person all around. The icing on the cake came the next morning when we checked out and the new person working at the desk told us that they absolutely DO take debit cards, and the fellow that was working the night before was not correct and mis-informed. So, we basically went through all that for nothing. Then to top things off I called in to Best Western corporate the next day to file a complaint, and was told that I would hear from someone in 5 days, and nobody has gotten back to us. Hotel was not well kept, the parking lot was dirty and there were a number of questionable folks that seemed to be 'hanging' around the hotel. The very rude front desk worker seemed to have friends or maybe his dealer dropping by at all hours of the night. There was a car sitting in the parking lot when we arrived at midnight blaring hip hop music. We certainly did not feel safe at this location. My family and I arrived here at 1 am after driving 5 hours. When we arrived to check we were greeted with below average enthusiasm lacking all customer service skills. Our reservation was for a double queen room NONSMOKING as my mother in law is allergic to smoke. Well...the room was a smoking room. The pungent order was stifling and unbreathable. The AC took 20 minutes to kick in to work in this summer heat. The floors were stained and filthy, the bathroom had stains could use some bleach. The shower had hairballs in the corners with flies buzzing around our heads. I have stayed in Best Western all over the US and Europe and I am sad to say this is one that I will never return to. We had to call Comfort Inn for our next 2 nights. It is unfortunate that we have to get ready for a wedding in this room. This hotel is a typical Best Western as far as design, but it tops the scale in customer service. The staff is welcoming and helpful making our last minute need for lodging a wonderful experience. From when I entered the lobby to see if there was availability, to breakfast the next morning, we were made to feel like VIP's. As for the rest, the rooms were clean and comfortable. As a last resort it is okay, but if you have more time and a bit more money get a better place. first of all the couch in the room I don't know if it was dirty or it was made to look like it is two different colors. Second there was a desk chair that you can flat out see it has never been cleaned, so much dust and dirt on it. third when you walk towards the bathroom there is a broken tile on the floor if you are walking barefoot you will cut yourself. fourth the tub in the bathroom has small holes and The tub is very low also, the showerhead is loose. the water pressure is so off you will hear a screeching noise the whole time you're showering. lastly the bed is so uncomfortable for a king bed I would expect it to be comfortable it wasnt you are better off sleeping on the floor. read more

Best western is usually my go to when traveling because they are usually clean and a good price. But boy was I wrong this time! THE ROOM HAD BUGS ALL OVER IT I WAS LAYING IN BED AND THREE ROACHES STARTED CRAWLING ON ME! I also had bug bites from laying in there bed! I quickly got up dressed and got my bags in the car went to the front desk and asked for a refund and they refused to give me one even after I shouted photos of the bugs I saw in the room. After having to deal with an attitude from the front desk they moved me to another room this one was much cleaner even tho I found dead bugs in it.... i asked to speak to the Manager many times and he didn't seem to be there at all the next morning or the times I have called. If they have this many bugs in there hotel rooms I can't even imagine how filthy and bug ridden the kitchen would be for the breakfast. Very disappointed and disgusted to have bug crawling on me, have only seen this in movies. I'm in the unique situation of writing a bad review for the Turlock branch without having actually stayed there; I showed up and they'd given my reservation away. After traveling all day I showed up at 1am to get my room, only to have to wait for 20 minutes until someone finally answer the phone (still no one at the front door). Despite the wait I was told very rudely i was lying about being at the door 20 minutes, and that the hotel was full despite my reservation. They gave my room away without me canceling and the service and workers were hostile and inconsiderate. Called BW hot line and they helped me to find other hotel at Los Banos but charge me for it updated The third party with which I made the reservation have called them to hear their side and they did not want to give any information, i got refunded i will never stay at BW any where read more

This hotel had good memories for me and my wife because a year prior most of our wedding party stayed here during the weekend of our ceremony. So on our first wedding anniversary we paid $170 for a room with a King sized bed and a whirlpool. What we got was obviously a queen sized bed and a tub that was a little deeper than normal and has jets but the jets themselves were discolored and were encrusted with dirt or something so my wife refused to use it. I talked to the front desk in the morning. I figured there must have been a room mix up. The lady at the desk said there was no mix up, if there was only one bed in the room it was the king sized bed. But the bed is clearly not King sized, it is without a doubt a queen sized bed. The desk lady also said that the whirlpool is actually just a tub jacuzzi, that I would have to pay even more for a "spa room" for a whirlpool that was actually useful. Me and my wife felt very bait and switched. The lady at the front desk seemed very unsympathetic. If you pay more for the king sized bed with whirlpool ($60+ more than a standard room with a "King sized" bed) absolutely know what you are getting. As for me and my wife, this is not a place we would come again. Especially not on our anniversary. read more

Had an awful weekend here this weekend. Couldn't wait to check out this morning. We checked in on Friday night and all night long had to deal with the people in the room next to us arguing, yelling and screaming, slamming doors from 11:00pm til 4am. The walls r so thin you can hear every little thing. Seems like a lot of lowlifes live at this location. The second night we experienced a similar situation. Got to our room around 11pm and there were multiple cars in the back parking lot where we were located blasting music. The room next to us had people knocking and coming in and out all night. I'm guessing drug deals were going down because it literally happened all night long about every half hour. Couldn't get a wink of sleep all weekend. Absolutely terrible. Whoever works the night shifts should be walking around checking things out, putting an end to these obnoxious disruptions. Or there should be some sort of security. Only reason I even left 2 stars is because the bed was semi-comfortable, the AC was ice cold, and u get a fridge and decent sized refrigerator. Don't recommend. Will definitely stay at holiday inn or Fairfield inn next time. read more

The bedrooms were messy, disorganized, and when we placed our reservations we wanted a 2 bed room and there wasn't even a single bed in the room. There were SLEEPING BAGS on the floor. We had dirty walls, dirty sheets, bloody carpets, a dead roach on the carpet and handprints on our headboards. If you do choose to stay here and not listen to all the negative reviews then beware! Stayed here while we were in town for a few days scouting places to live. Booked ahead because of the discount through my work and the pictures online are a far cry from reality.. first didn't realize this place is kind of off the beaten path... second I booked a king bed "business" room and when we got there there was none available. Also yes it's right next to the freeway but there's other options that are closer to food and shopping. The rooms are dated even though they've been "upgraded" and smell of mildew (and if someone is smoking on the patio a few doors down.) No elevator for upstairs rooms so if you have a lot of stuff or kids be prepared for a hike. I agree with other reviewers the tubs are incredible slippery and there was no mat. Horrible water pressure in the shower. The staff was nice and the breakfast bar was fully stocked each morning. read more

If you are coming from the Bay and going to Yosemite or any other High Sierra National Parks, the cheapest and most convenient place to stay is at this roadside Best Western. The suite was worse than the first room. The bed had vomit on the comforter and when we pulled the comforter back we noticed the matress had a huge blood stain! Not the most best hotel I've stayed at from Best Western. When we pulled up, there was TWO Probation vehicles here searching a room . One of units was a K9 unit. The room we received smelt of cigarettes and the notice clearly states all rooms are no smoking. The second bed had a tear in the sheets and comforter. The staff was very pleasant though. If I ever come to the Central Valley area again, I highly doubt I will ever stay here again. read more

A discount from them was five dollars more than the online. Then there is no table to eat at in the room. That worked out because the included breakfast isn't available because, "they don't have supplies to make the bags, sorry about that!" And of course they don't know when breakfast bags will be available. We spent $10 to get breakfast at Birger King down the road. Sad! More expensive! My wife and myself stayed at this inn on the evening of Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016. Shortly after checking out and departing on Thursday, November 24th (Thanksgiving Day) my wife realized that she had inadvertently left her wedding ring on the bathroom vanity in our room (#218). Though we were less than five minutes away from the inn, my wife immediately telephoned to advise that she had left her ring in the room. When we returned to the motel minutes later, I went into the reception area and was told by the front desk clerk that the ring could not be found and that I was welcome to go up to the room and look myself. My wife and I promptly parked and went upstairs to the room where we found several maids/housekeepers in the room cleaning. The maids were obviously not looking for the ring, but were instead focused on regular cleaning of the room. In addition to the maids, there was also a small child (approximately four or five years old) energetically running about the room. When I asked the maids/housekeepers about the ring, it was reiterated to us that it could not been found. While my wife and I were tearing apart the room in search of the ring, a member of the staff approached us and stated that the towels/laundry had already been sorted through and that the ring was not found there either. We were also told that the trash was going to be looked through, however we were later told that there was "noting but used condoms" (which most certainly did not come from my wife and my room) in the trash and that, again, the ring could not be found. A manager, whose name and exact position I did not get, came up to our room and explained to us that there was nothing he could do about the situation; he told us rather rudely that my wife and I could not prove any wrong-doing on the part of the motel staff. The manager left after only a few minutes, and when we called the front desk to ask him to return to the room - hopeful that he could come to some sort of a solution to find the ring which was obviously taken by a member of the staff - we were told that he had already left for the day. I was also told that it was "normal" for managers to leave before noon and that the only thing the front desk clerk could do was send a text message to the manager to ask for him to reach out to us. To his credit, the manager that we spoke with earlier did return to talk to us, though I personally do not feel that someone in his position should have gone off-site in the middle of a catastrophe such as ours and an event where his staff was obviously involved in wrong-doing. In our second conversation the manager told us that "missing" items were common-place and a normality in the hospitality industry and that "it happens". We were told that management could not make accusations, question employees, etc. and were several times reminded that "there are not cameras" in the rooms and that we "can't prove" any wrong-doing. We were then asked to leave the room and told that we could not continue our search for the missing ring. My wife and I are very distraught and upset with this whole situation. My wife is not one to misplace things; when she first realized the ring was not on her finger she knew immediately where she had left it. There is obviously a massive issue with management and oversight at this property and this experience has forever tarnished the Best Western brand for me. I am simply beside myself that this property employs people of such poor character. The poor management at this property speaks for itself; small children are permitted to run about in an environment where bio-waste is apparently common-place, management apparently leaves well before check-in, and when an obvious case of theft such as ours arrises the unsympathetic manager defaults to telling us we have no proof and that there is nothing we can do. read more
