Very unhappy with my stay here at this hotel. Room was hardly ever cleaned, maid would come by every 3-4 days but would only make up bed and not change the sheets, trash was always a problem, they never would even vacuum the floors when attempting to clean the room. I was also charged for a room "with a pool view" which I didn't request and due to its still being cold outside when I checked in(04-09-23) the pool was shutdown and covered. The room charges was continually changing and then I was asked to check out 6 days early due to the hotel over-booking even though I had booked the room for 30 days continuously. I was in town for work along with @ 3500 other people and most of the hotels in the area were price-gouging everyone. A 2star hotel regularly $85/night were now asking nearly $200/night. Smdh!!! We are BW Diamond Select customers. We stay at BWs most of the time. We travel a lot so we tend to visit a lot of BW properties every year. Most of the time the experience is great. Now and then, not so much. We were on our way to Deadwood and had reservations in Bozeman for the night. But we got into town pretty early and decided to cancel our stay at BW and put a few more miles on. It was dinner time when we got into Billings so we called the BW diamond select reservation line to see what was available. The said there were three BW properties here in town. As soon as we walked into the lobby it became blindingly obvious that we should have chosen one of the other two instead of this place. Should you decide to stay here anyway after reading this review, you have no one but yourself to blame if you are unhappy with the place. I barely know where to start since there is very little, if anything to like about this place. OK.... it is in a "bad" section of town with some very sketchy druggie types lurking around looking for cars to break into. The hotel parking garage has signs all over warning that they aren't responsible for lost or stolen items. And the place just looks like it's ripe for druggies with a brick looking to smash a car window for some quick money. The elevator was broken. We were told that "it is finally being repaired after 50 years of service". If so, this is the world longest repair job because Yelp reviewers have been complaining about the elevator being broken for many years. The room was a dump. Per BW policy, diamond select customers are supposed to be upgraded automatically..... not here, apparently. It's a Sunday night and there aren't many guests here so ...... if we are in fact in an upgraded room then the "regular" rooms must be horrid. The desk clerk left a lot to be desired. She was cheerful enough (sort of...) but it was pretty clear that she'd really rather be somewhere else. As she ticked off the various problems/issues and we become more dejected with each "revelation" it was clear that the desk clerk could really care less. She had what I would call a "Hey, I just work here" demeanor. I'll probably send in a complaint to BW HQ depending on how noisy it is at night, if our car has a busted window come morning and what b'fast is like. As I said, this place should not even be allowed to post a BW Plus brand..... this property and it's employees fell FAR short of what we've come to expect from BW over our decades of being loyal customers. Travelling to Wisconsin from northern California, we planned an overnight stop in Billings, MT. My buddy had stayed here before and selected this particular hotel which is located downtown. The surrounding neighborhood is somewhat questionable but the building exterior appeared inviting. I also thought the lobby was quite nice. Now the covered parking seemed a little sketchy in appearance...I imagine that the winter snow would hide a lot of this. There were lots of parking spaces, but finding an open one in the later part of the day was a bit challenging, but we did find a few. The elevator was working, unlike other post had mentioned...appeared to be new or at least had a good make over. You need your room card on the first floor to operate it, but not on the second floor. I believe the exercise room was on the second floor but we didn't use it. If you stay here, everyone in your party gets a limited selection, complimentary breakfast next door (see my other review). Our room was nice, but it definitely had signs of age. There were also signs of room repairs such as new caulking around the tub. But as an old construction worker, the workmanship was not up to standard and somewhat sloppy. But I have seen much worse. Caulking is an art in my humble opinion...some are great at it, but a lot are not. Whoever did the caulking here should have someone more experienced give them some tips...I bet they'd be pretty good afterwards. The beds were nice and comfy...this counts most in all my hotel stays. Lots of pillows too! Flatscreen TV worked good. We got stuck in Billings a second night due to mechanical issue and stayed here both nights. I decided to go out for a short jog to Two Moons Park and back (r/t appx 6 miles). Yes I saw a few questionable individuals, but no one bothered me or tried to panhandle from me. In fact, I ask some workers for directions and they were quite nice. From the hotel you can make your way down to a path along the Yellowstone River. Great jogging/cycling on this path with nice views! I tried a bit different route on the way back....a mistake that added 3 more miles to my run. With more friendly instructions from another local, I found my what back to the hotel. Hotel staff seemed really nice. We didn't complain about anything to them. I believe we had rooms 214 and 217 but am not 100% of this. Both were of the same quality. Now the price per night was high in my opinion (appx $125 per night midweek with no reservations). Overall, I was happy with our stay and I'd stay here again, but will probably seek a better rate or try somewhere elsewhere with a lower price. read more

We really should have stopped in Laurel. I'm not sure what makes this Best Western Plus, as I am certainly not feeling it. As a matter of fact, this just took my second to least favorite slot in the Best Western line. The cleanliness of the room allowed it to top my least favorite marginally. Sadly, it isn't anything that I can fix by approaching the front desk, as I draw the curtains to eliminate my dumpster view. [Edit: the dumpster was emptied, at 6am, loudly...] Sketchy, lumpy bed, [edit: later discovered a rather thick matress pad was either the wrong size or place on incorrectly or both, causing a ridge down the sleeping area. This was addressed by management, definitely worth a bump in ratings.] ...Shower only in the room and I really could have used a whirlpool tub or a hot tub... [edit: It is possible that the room description said shower only, as my husband reserved the room. I could have used a soak, as we rode a bike in. My muscles were screaming and we got in too late to use the pool. Our fault, not the hotels.] At least they have the updated sign & the towels are soft... plus reviews say that breakfast, which will be at the restaurant across from us is going to be good, and well worth the estimated 30 minute-1 hour wait. Room wasn't ready and told to come back in an hour. We waited 2 hours...room still not ready and told the cleaners hadn't even started. 1 hour later, around 7 PM, we got a call that our room was ready. I understand that Covid has caused some hiring problems. Selling more rooms then you have the staff to clean is a a separate issue. The front girls at the desk were exceptional and were really overwhelmed. They did great even though many customers were very heated. We would like to go back one day. This place is pretty gross. You would think they would take extra Per caution due to the Covid pandemic. We booked this hotel because supposedly Best Western has "industry leading cleaning standards ". I walked him and Lysol wiped everything and you wouldn't believe the amount of stuff I got off of the counters. It appear to of been some coffee drips or something like that. Also there was a lot of hair on the bathroom floor. And my children's feet turn black from walking on the disgusting carpet. This was booked by a group that we were with and I had a back up plan if this was not up to my standards. WOW, was I shocked..the rooms were great, clean, large and updated. parking was convenient and the Staff was Amazing...always asking what they could do for you. Diner attached is convenient as well. Stayed here for 2 nights while in town for a family wedding. We booked the 2-room, 3 bed "family room" and it was perfect - spacious, not fancy, but comfortable, in the part of the hotel overlooking the pool. Very convenient downtown location, near some great restaurants and one of my favorite karaoke bars! Also, next door to the famous breakfast joint, Stella's, although we did not have a good experience there (see separate review). The Best Western isn't as upscale as the Northern, or even the Crowne Plaza, nearby, but the pool was a big selling point for the kids, and we enjoyed using it each day. Free WiFi and parking. Found the night staff sweet and on top of things. Recognized me and had my fax on hand. Room was surprisingly large. Very clean. Dated, but well kept. My room was on first floor, right across from the pool. I found it very quiet. Of course, it was December and the pool was drained, but still... Very quiet. BTW, there IS an elevator. Free parking - woot. Missing a free breakfast. Having a fridge is nice. No microwave. Seriously, though, the room is huge. Full couch, side chair, desk, office chair, huge TV, even the fridge is a bit bigger than mini. Conference room nearby, easy access. Also roomy. Overall, well done! read more

While eating at the next door restaurant that this company owns, there was no parking. Not on the street, nor under their under parking structure. We parked right in front where the was not a no parking sign. There were in fact 2 other cars that were parked along this curbing. When we walked out, there was a "ticket" on our car. There were not tickets on the other cars btw. It was from the Best Western Clocktower Inn that stated we were in violation of parking there. No where was there a notice, a sign post, an orange cone or anything that said No Parking here. So I took the ticket and waited a few minutes for someone to show up at the front desk. A younger girl in her early twenty's said "Whatch need?" I said, "This ticket was on our car and there wasn't any sign that says No Parking. Maybe you guys should put a sign up that says No Parking." She said "There's no parking there." I said "There's no sign. Put up a sign if you don't want anyone parking there. Also, if you were doing your job correctly, you would have marked that the license is not from Montana, it is from out of state." She said "Well honey bun, just letting you know there's no parking." I said really snarky back "Well, honey bun, get a frickin sign!" Asshat. Great customer service. I would never stay in This hellhole with all the drug addicts and prostitution that is hanging out at this area of town. The parking is horrible. If you are traveling you will be expected to park in an alley, on the street, in a parking garage with homeless tweekers doing drugs and hanging out, or in the very LIMITED spots near the rooms. There was homeless walking throughout the hotel grounds. They need to put gates up! We did not feel safe. We were worried all night about our belongings being stolen. Staff had told us a previous hotel guest had their bikes stolen right off their car in front of the hotel. We had requested a pet friendly room, once we got there they said " oh the room we have down is not" so we had to pay for two rooms and we are still waiting on the refund. The gals at the front desk proceeded to explain we will probably never see a refund. The bathtub was clogged so our shower water was filling up all around us, there was no laundry bag for our dirty clothes, the floor had stains on it. The one plus is, we got a free breakfast and it wasn't too bad. On that note, we will never stay there again. read more

An older property craftily restored, which is good because the location is fantastic. Right downtown near all the action of billings. Big clear flat screens, updated colors, big soft beds, covered parking in most areas, nice little fridges, very comfortable Lazy boy chairs. Friendly well trained desk staff. Lots to love here. BUT.....I was kept up all night by the rhythmic thumping of the plumbing, loud! And then upstairs, the guests were stomping about. LOUD. Booked through priceline for $69. Check-in parking area is super difficult, this is an older hotel so parking is for bikes? The lobby is actually very beautifully decorated with a vaulted ceiling. We had been traveling for hours and I was doing a peepee dance! The nearest restroom was inside of a very well equipped workout room so before I checked in they had to code a swipey card....ahhhhh! But the guy was fast and polite. Parking is just all around awkward and there were people just lingering in the lot and alleys. We had a room that had no elevator access which when traveling is super annoying just cuz you're tired! An older man, who later I realized worked there but initially I was gonna mace, offered to help with bags but the folks in the lobby didn't tell us there was help or workers out in the alley/lot. There was a man a few rooms down from us who brought out the room chair, tipped it back with his feet on the banister, on his cell & smoking. All of which wouldn't have bugged me if this was a motor lodge. But it was sold as a two.5 star but in reality is one star. The room was ok...nothing spectacular. had a cool lapboard for my laptop but other than that nicety it was just less quality than I expected. Right in the heart of downtown so locale was awesome except for the vagrants who milled near the cars. read more

We had to travel to Billings to bury my mother-in-law. When we made the reservation before driving the nearly 1,000 miles from Seattle to Billings, we explained the situation and asked for a quiet room with a pullout bed to accommodate our daughter, who would be flying in a day later. We were told they understood perfectly, and they would make sure the right room was waiting for us. When we arrived after driving nearly 1,000 miles, the guy behind the desk asked us if we were in town for vacation. We explained the circumstances and our desire for quiet again, so imagine our surprise when he pointed us to a room that was right next to the pool. It took 15 minutes to get that straightened out. By the time we got to the room, we were so tired that it wasn't until the next morning that we realized that it was missing the pullout bed we had requested, requiring yet more negotiation with the front desk. The walk-in shower has nowhere to prop a foot up on while shaving your legs (let alone a shelf for shampoo, etc. -- nothing but a soap dish), and the rainshower head leaks a strong spray directly up at the ceiling, so I didn't feel comfortable using it and risking damage to the sheetrock. The cushion in the desk chair is so worn out I could feel nothing but hard surface under me. And the desk itself is about six inches in front of the air-conditioner, so I had to make sure the air conditioner was off before using the desk. It took us a while to figure out that the lamp on the desk, in the base of which is the only accessible electrical outlet in the room other than the one next to the bathroom sink, is controlled by a wall switch on the other end of the room. So I discovered myself without a working phone on our first morning there, after thinking I had left it charging overnight - a real bonus when you're trying to make funeral arrangements. The only good thing about this trip is that we'll never have a reason to return to Billings or the Best Western "Plus" there again. read more

I'm a single mom traveling with two young kids. We found a great deal here, and were pleased that pets are allowed. This motel was probably built in the 1960s and has been very nicely, and recently, remodeled. Our room was probably the cleanest I have ever seen. Elevator access was by room key only. The beds were comfy, the towels were fluffy, and the bathroom was sparkling. Breakfast next door at Stella's was fantastic, but be prepared for a wait. Within walking distance were several restaurants, the Yellowstone Art Museum with a Lego exhibit, and historic sites we didn't even make it to. Will definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed here one night whilst touring. We were surprised to find this hotel is virtually in the middle of the city but still had free car parking and decent priced rooms. As the hotel is in a 'U' shape on two levels, I thought the rooms may be noisy from cars arriving, people unpacking etc but they were relatively quiet. Room was comfortable with good beds, hot shower, good coffee maker & fridge (no microwave). Good range of TV channels and great, fast wifi. No breakfast available but the bakery and cafe 'Stella's' is right on premises and is a great option for all day breakfast which actually included some healthy choices. You can walk into town but there's not much to see. The hotel offers a small discount on a range of bars and restaurants on the edge of town, only a block or so from the hotel. We got some take out from a local Mexican (Don Luis) which was generous and good quality. Overall, this hotel suited us and we would stay again and recommend to others. read more

Every member of staff that I interacted with was very welcoming! The room and was clean and comfortable, the staff helped me with getting a taxi and shuttling me to and from the airport, they gave plenty of advice for things to do within walking distance, and the staff seemed genuinely interested in how my trip was going. The only reason I gave this hotel 4 out of 5 stars is because I did not receive my wake up call the morning I had to head out. It was not a big deal to me but it might bother other guests. This was an easy 5 stars. Friendly, professional staff, very accommodating. Wife, dog, and I couldn't have found a better place to stay the night after a long drive. Highly recommend especially if you have kids (awesome pool, water play place) having an exterior door to the parking lot was perfect for bringing luggage in and out of the truck. At the Clock Tower Inn a piecemeal cluster of buildings are thrown together in what proves to be a bit of a confusing trek to find your room. Despite the odd layout, this isn't a bad place to stay, right in the heart of downtown Billings with numerous dining options a block or two away. The rooms are large and well appointed, with a handful of little touches to add to the comfort of your stay. The one touch that felt a little like overkill was the "fresh remote," a TV remote sheathed in a felt baggie, catering -- I suppose -- to the germophobes terrified of touching a dirty remote. My biggest beef was the smell of the room, a musty, cigarette smoke smell that lingers from back when no-smoking rooms were unheard of. Nevertheless, for non-smokers (like myself) this is a bit of a bother. Don't get this Best Western confused with being a Hotel -- it's a Motel, albeit a Motel you would never lump in with the cheap-o spots littering Interstates. Bottom line: the Clock Tower Inn is a pretty decent option if you can get it for the right price. read more

I have nothing bad to say about this place-- I ended up staying in Billings due to a weather related car accident and they were super sympathetic to my plight when I was checking in at 7 AM. They reduced the price of my stay and gave me a breakfast meal at Stella's (the bakery/restaurant located next door). I would definitely come back here just for the staff alone. After the night I went through it was just the courtesy I needed to feel a little more relaxed about my situation. The room was clean and spacious as well as the bathroom. Their shower had great water pressure and the mirrors were free of any smudges. read more

I stayed there last night and experienced nothing but exceptional service throughout my stay. It all started when I dialed from the airport and the shuttle from the hotel was there within minutes. The checkin process was quick and easy, the room was clean and well furnished and the hotel is close to a number of great dining and brewery establishments. The next day I had an appointment where I would not be able to bring my luggage items with me. They allowed me to check out, keep my luggage items there behind the desk (Dana). They then provided my a ride via the shuttle to my interview. As if that exceptional service were not enough, they subsequently delivered my luggage to the airport at the conclusion of my interview. That represents the best service and hospitality I have experienced in years. I visit Billing frequently, and now know there is no where else I will stay. read more

What a great surprise. I booked this hotel because it is pet friendly and was seriously concerned when I pulled up because the surrounding area is sketchy. It is an old school motel with the room doors that open to the outside. Check in staff very friendly. I expected our room to be dark and dated. The parking lot is overcrowded and hard to negotiate, even for a veteran road warrior like me. As far as cell phone connections, forget it. Almost impossible. I was in town for a convention, and in comparing notes with other attendees, as well as employees of several restaurants and the DoubleTree, where the convention took place, everyone stated Billings has absolutely awful cell phone and wi-fi, so I guess I can't really blame the Clocktower.
