-12/2024- My husband and I were on a flight to Kalispell, MT that couldn't land due to fog. We ended up getting a voucher to stay in a hotel and I chose this one since it was at the top of the list. We really lucked out with this pick! If you have to stay in Billings overnight, this is the place you want to do it in. We were picked up from the airport by a very friendly shuttle driver. The worker at the front desk was very apologetic for not being faster in the check in process because they were completely unprepared to handle the influx of travelers due to the flight delay. While grateful for the apology, I felt like the check in process was incredibly quick and smooth. During check in, I realized I left my purse on the flight. As I was panicking and trying to find a way back to the airport, I passed the shuttle driver in the lobby. He said he was done making trips for the night, but didn't mind taking us back to the airport. This angel of a man drove us back, sat and waited the ten plus minutes it took them to find my purse, and then brought us right back to the hotel without expecting a thing! We were so grateful! The hotel was very, very cute and cozy. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. There's a fireplace in the lobby that really just invites you in. There's a restaurant too that we would've loved to check out in the morning but didn't have the time for. The room was very clean and nice. I noticed this cool little advertisement offering a free glass of wine or beer if you came down to mingle at a certain time. They also had a coffee bar near the check in desk that was much appreciated the following morning after the wild night we had. They also let us know that if we needed water, we could snag some from the cooler in the fitness area. I thought that was a sweet thing to offer your guests. I don't know that we'll find ourselves in Billings, Montana again, but if we did, I would choose to stay here! Thank you, Northern Hotel, for taking care of us when everything was stressful and up in the air!

I was not impressed with this place whatsoever. The staff is nice but outside of them I just didn't have a pleasant experience. There is NO microwave on the entire property. If you meal prep and have strict dietary restrictions, you might just be out of luck if nearby restaurants can't accommodate you. The elevators are small and cramped. The rooms are outdated in my opinion, and the air conditioning was cutting on and off throughout the night. I don't think I'll come back here.

4 am! 28 degrees! Quiet morning.

The hotel is nice and probably the best one in town but...my room wreaked of cigarette smoke. I turned up the heat and the room smelled worse. Maybe my neighbor was smoking i dont know. The corner room at the end of the hall the doors are very close and my neighbor thought slamming it was necessary. That sucked!! As other reviewers said, no refrigerator. I found my room fine, it was a king suite with a small sitting area. Road noise is loud but doesn't last all night. Window area gets pretty cold even with curtains closed...can't turn up the heat because it smells like cigarettes!!!! I'd come back but I'd bring air freshener. They have an offer of a free alcoholic beverage and I'm on the fence with that. Some of us don't need the temptation!!

The room - little messy we were on our way out

Anyone know about the dress code for housekeeping? I recently applied for a job and id like to dye my hair a fun color. Anyone know the limitations?

We arrived around 9:45-9:50 pm, just before the kitchen closed at 10. Abby, our waitress, could not have been more welcoming. She got us seated right away, recommended the fries (which were incredible), and made sure we had everything we needed even as the kitchen was winding down. Special thanks to Chef Joe, who deserves a big compliment for putting together such fantastic food at the very end of service. The wings were amazing, the burger was excellent, and the fries were so good that I actually finished them, which I almost never do. That says a lot. The atmosphere was fantastic lively but not overwhelming, with a party still going on since the bar stays open until 11. I haven't even seen the room yet, and I already love this place. Between the service, the food, and the energy, this stop turned into one of the highlights of the trip. Abby and Chef Joe both deserve a shout-out for making it happen.

Our tour filed off the bus, walked into their lobby, and were greeted by a big box of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! Our hotel room was very large, the bed was comfortable, the room temperature was perfect, the TV, Wifi, and shower worked great, and there was a nice desk/workstation. We had plenty of plugs to charge our phones, etc. What could be better? Well, how about breakfast way up on the 20th floor? It was one of the very best buffet breakfasts on our trip with plenty of fruit, hot foods, yogurt, cereal, granola, pastries and the very freshest and biggest croissants I have ever seen. And of course, the view of Billings from the 20th floor was amazing. PRO TIPS, BATHROOM EDITION The bathroom in our room (618) was one of the largest in recent memory. The shower had plenty of hot water and pressure and gets bonus points for safety with grab bars on all three shower walls. As great as the shower was, the toilet was lacking in a few areas. First of all --it sits very low to the ground, so it might be challenging if your knees aren't in tip-top shape. But worse than that, the water pressure when you flush the toilet is quite weak. Anemically weak. So weak, it will take 2 or 3 flushes to complete its business after your morning business is through.

We got a call about 7 AM the next morning, starting they had our credit card and license, and apparently Belinda had this out so anyone could see. The only other time this happened to us, the check in attendant rang up hundreds of dollars of phone calls. This was really disturbing because Belinda had many opportunities to return them. The housekeepers woke us up afterwards banging on the door starting at 9 am and did it several more times, despite the Do Not Disturb Sign prominently displayed. The handle was broken on the fridge door and the bathtub and sink were damaged. Grandma said looked old and dreary, not well kept. When we told the manager, Orlando, about our problems at the hotel, he could have cared less. It's hard to imagine that he works in customer service, and tourism in particular. This is probably the worst hotel we ever stayed in, and we couldn't wait to get out.

It was SO convenient for a traveling family. The room was immaculately clean, as was the rest of the hotel. I appreciated seeing hand sanitizer dispensers in the elevators and by the breakfast space. No part of the hotel smelled like mold, which, in the eight hotels we've stayed in in the last two weeks, is a first time occurrence. Laundry room downstairs ($1 in quarters to run, which is half of what we had to spend at our last hotel) was right next to the pool, which meant we could run our laundry while we let the kids swim. The pool was a really great size with floor to ceiling windows for light, complimentary towels, and non-slip tile around the pool deck which you would think is a no brainer but this was the only hotel we've stayed in so far that had it. Downstairs they had 24/7 coffee, tea, and ice water available. We went by one night and they'd placed cookies out! There was a lovely outdoor seating area with a fire pit, market lights, and comfy seating. They also had board games out for use. The complimentary breakfast was awesome-- waffles, oatmeal bar, boiled eggs, yogurt, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, bagels, toast, cereal, juice. They also had coloring pages/crayons out for the kids that they changed out daily. Just adorable touches. There's also a little convenient store downstairs where you can buy jars of pasta sauce and pasta, frozen meals, etc. in case you need something to cook. The WiFi was pretty decent as well so I was able to get some work done. We appreciated the helpfulness and friendliness of the front desk staff-- they were helpful with things to do in the area and with lighting the fire pit when we wanted to spend time with new vacation, friends outside.

JC The breakfast attendant went above and beyond what we expected to make our stay a more enjoyable one. Folks here are very friendly!!! I totally recommend this place If you're visiting for a couple days or even a week. The breakfast was more than continental breakfast. The breakfast burrito on Friday morning and the egg sandwich were very hearty and you can easily take it on the go. JC, the breakfast attendant is very attentive, helpful, very personable and social. He shared some of the touristy places to visit. He was prompt in refilling all the stations without having to ask for things. Stations were clean and food were well presented (robust). We've been to a lot of hotel breakfast but this place was , hands down, better than most. Front desk was prompt in any request. I do have to note that house keeping is upon request which is fine and I personally like that...my preference. Ben, the manager was able to reverse the double charge as we went through a 3rd party book. He even personally called us to follow up with the status of our charge. The only criticism I have as with most hotels are thin walls and heavy feet from tenants above. A definite place to stay and if travels finds me back to Billings, this will be home :)
