Blood on sheets that my friend and I slept on for 2 nights and just noticed it during morning of checkout
    Greg S.

After calling x3 to this location to see what type of breakfast was had...I was told each time: cheese egg omelets and sausage. My friend and I wake up to find that eggs were NOT on the menu. Strike 1! My friend and I wake morning of Sunday March 6th to blood stains on our sheets. Gross! I mention it to front desk, supervisor comes up to take a look. Her response? Gets all defensive and says "these blood stains are fresh, we would never put anybody in a room with a dirty sheet like this, ya these blood stains are fresh. Translation? Ie supervisor was pointing the finger at us. Doesn't seem like Manger is willing to do ANYTHING about it! Strike 2! Minor issues: hallway smelt like weed. Dirty elevator which had food wedged between the corners. Strike 3! Do not stay here! Staff is rude, place is unsanitary.

I'm a veteran/platinum member of Best Western hotels. This place is absolutely the worst I've ever experienced by a longshot. The staff are friendly and accommodating which is the only saving grace for this property. Breakfast was standard Best Western fare -- nothing spectacular but it will get you out the door for the day. Martha in the breakfast room is a gem and took care of everyone straggling in late and stayed to make sure they still had what they wanted before shutting down operations. She knew I was traveling with my teenage son who couldn't get his act together to get to breakfast on time but she always asked about him to make sure I had a plate put together for him before she put everything away. The lobby and entry are nice but it goes downhill like a runaway freight train from there. There are holes in the furniture dirty upholstery. The other furniture is superbly tatty with worn finishes you'd like you'd expect to see at a garage sale. Every outlet in the rooms was loose and wouldn't hold a basic power brick. Then there's bed bugs to round out the fun. They've updated the bathroom sink and vanity but that's it. The old toilets are water hogs and the ancient tile grout is grubby. The wifi was an utter joke. I certainly don't have high expectations for hotel wifi in general but it was completely useless here. The fitness room was mediocre at best and very grungy. The ice machine was falling apart.  During my stay I had to call the authorities for a brewing altercation in the parking lot between hotel clients and patrons of the neighboring Burger King. I'm not one to readily phone the authorities but I had to in this case. People were going to get hurt. It was super intense. If you have the ability, avoid this property and this area in general. The location is outrageously noisy -- sirens and trains all night. It doesn't feel even remotely safe. I wasn't at all certain my rental car would be there when we emerged each morning.  Not being familiar with the area was a huge disadvantage in this case. For the quality of the room and property, this place is way overpriced. Pay a few more bucks for a better location in the Charlotte area, even if just for safety's sake.

My stay at this Best Western Plus was positive, and I'd certainly consider future stays in the chain now that I've experienced the level of quality and affordable rate. I checked in late on a Friday, so the rate was around $115 via Expedia, but the Saturday night was only $89 when booked through the hotel itself, which was really nice and surprising for a weekend. The hotel is situated in a busy section of Charlotte near lots of shops and eateries. Bojangles is across the street for late-night cravings, and it's only a 12-minute walk (4-minute drive) to a line of two breweries, a cidery, a distillery, a cocktail bar, and a bar bowling alley! The path was a little sketchy and was next to train tracks, but I did it by myself and survived, so that's a plus. It's also easy to access the highway and attractions like the Billy Graham Library and the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market. Overall: Top-notch location all around. I had a king-sized room, which came with a mini fridge. I didn't hear noise for the most part, except for Saturday night around 3 a.m. when a rowdy group exited the elevator, which was directly next to my room but away from the bed. The whole stay was comfortable, and the front desk (and night audit) staff were awesome. Super friendly and accommodating. My only qualm would be the complimentary breakfast. I looked at it prior to check out and didn't see a single thing I'd want to grab. It needs a little boost. Otherwise, my stay was pleasant and it's a worthy hotel at the right price.

Hello my fellow yelpers!! My stay at this Best western was outstanding. The staff at the desk and in the breakfast area along with the maid service were all great. The hotel was clean and the rooms inside were as expected. The breakfast was as I always expect from best western...perfect. Why 4 stars? Because the outside appearance and the hotel location weren't deserving of this...but understand, I would not hesitate to stay here again and the price was right.

After getting screwed by Expedia for my original hotel booking, I was excited to find this comparable option the day of my trip. Pros: -Good location -Decent price -Continental breakfast is included which includes waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, juice, etcetera -Room has a microwave and mini fridge Cons: -Shower head leaked and the drain was a bit clogged -A few random hairs were on the pillow and in the shower I would definitely stay here again next time I am in the Charlotte area.

Homeless guy propping door open with trash can at night time so he can come in and out
    Amanda S.

I gave this business $1600 after a two and half week stay I was kicked out. I didn't cause any problems at all. I was called to the front desk and I was told i had to leave because i had a guest stay overnight who brought their own pillows and on the way out they accused my friend of stealing the hotels pillows when my friend showed them the tags on the pillows and wasn't apologized to they just said oh okay and walked off. Then there was a homeless man sneaking in the hotel overnight every night. He was on some serious drugs and would put trash cans between the side doors propping them open so he could go in and out to his pleasing and then would sit in the hallway and shoot drugs up with needles and talk to himself. It was very unsafe and the worst customer service ever and I was kicked out for no reason and treated terribly. The manager was the worst he was rude and conceited and his words were "we don't need you here". DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Save yourself the trouble. It's dirty unsafe and the only good part was two ladies who worked at the front desk who were sweet.

This was probably the worst stay I've ever experienced at a hotel! I was staying in town on company business when I developed a rash. I went to urgent care and was told I was bitten by BEDBUGS! They staff at the hotel were very sympathetic. I spoke to the owner, Sonny Singh and he did absolutely nothing! He was rude and very defensive! I have never been so insulted! Needless to say I will never stay at this property again. I should've known better when the seats collapsed in the airport shuttle van! Just awful! Shame on this property!

My wife and I ended up here unexpectedly after our flight was canceled due to an incoming snowstorm. Since the JW Marriott wasn't open during my last visit to Charlotte, I made a point to stay here during this short, unplanned stop. We arrived late on a Friday night, which didn't leave much time to explore the hotel's amenities, but the stay still left a strong impression--both good and not-so-good. The guest rooms are sleek, modern, and undeniably luxurious, with a sophisticated design that feels appropriate for a newer urban JW property. The glass shower was spacious and attractive, though oddly there was no body wash provided, and the drain was clogged--small details, but noticeable at this level. The mattress, unfortunately, was extremely firm--uncomfortably so for me--and made for a restless night. Because our luggage was still stuck at the airport, we requested several basic toiletries. Despite assurances, they never arrived. On the positive side, room service is available 24 hours, and the food was excellent--fresh, well-prepared, and delivered promptly. The Executive Lounge is also a standout: beautifully designed and offering a strong breakfast spread that made the morning far more enjoyable. Ben at the front desk the next morning deserves special mention. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely responsive in addressing the issues we experienced the night before, which helped restore some confidence in the stay. One lingering question: I don't quite understand why an urban hotel charges a Daily Destination Fee. While the fee can be offset with credits toward room service or dining, it still felt out of place for a downtown business-oriented property. I've stayed at JW Marriotts in several other cities and have consistently found their service to be a strength. That's why I was surprised that service here didn't quite meet those expectations. The hotel itself is beautiful and well-located, but smoother execution and attention to detail would bring the experience in line with the JW standard.

I was asked by Elon Law to teach a night class in Charlotte and they graciously got me a hotel at the Hilton in downtown Charlotte. Sounded great and I was excited... And then I arrived. Let's see.... There was a long line at the reception and it took quite a while till I got to the front of line to be helped. Then I was told that the rooms would not be available for 2 hours even though it was already 2 hours beyond the check-in time. No accommodation for that mishap other than the offer to leave my bags and wander around. This was awful because I had to teach in an hour! Thank God they did find a room that was ready and so I asked where I could park the car and I almost had a heart attack when she told me it was $35 to park my car. Are you freaking kidding me? The room itself was close to $200. Seriously? I don't know why I asked the next question, although I knew what the answer would be as I timidly asked, "Does this include breakfast?" Of course it doesn't. And if you want a piece of toast and a cup of coffee, that's going to cost you close to $20. This place is a freaking rip-off! I greed to pay the damn $35 and was told that if I park on the fourth floor there is a walkway right into the hotel with my room key. So I parked the car where she said and went to the door and kept swiping and swiping and swiping and could not get in. Finally, I called downstairs and they sent somebody up to let me in to only discover that they share the parking lot and access with the Hampton inn. Incredibly confusing. That's why my key did not work. So I had to take all of my stuff back down to the lobby again and find my way to the Hilton elevator. By the time that nightmare was solved, that was the end of my shower and resting and it was time to leave for teaching I came back after teaching quite hungry but I was not about to spend $150 for an M&M peanut that was for sale in the lobby. I went back to my room, had a bottle of water to only discover that they want $2. Do me a favor Hilton inn. Next time just charge us $1,000 for the night and let it include breakfast and parking. Again, I am very appreciative of Elon University putting me up for the night but next time I'm going to see if they can put me in another place. Maybe a place that charges a normal price, is not terribly confusing and actually includes breakfast and parking for the exorbitant fee. There's a second chapter to this review. and It truly proves that good customer service can mean everything! So as I was checking out the following morning, the woman at the registration named Ebony asked me the infamous, "How was your stay?" And my reply was, "Do you want the polite response or the real response?" with which she replied, "The real response, absolutely!" So I began to tell her how my room wasn't ready and I was going to have to wait 2 hours. I told her how the woman at the registration desk did not offer me anything for that delay other than I could leave my bags behind the counter. I told her how they finally found me a room but told me nothing about the Hilton gold honors I was entitled to. I told her how confusing it was in the garage to find the right way to the hotel. I told her how horrified I was about the $35 parking fee. Ebony was so sympathetic to my frustration and determined to give me top customer service, that she did not charge me for the parking and gave me a Hilton Gold perk I was entitled to and got a beautiful breakfast to go. Ebony turned everything around for me. I got a delicious omelet with wheat toast, made a hot cup of coffee, got into my car with a new attitude and traveled back to Greensboro. I still think the hotel charges too much, should not be charging for parking, should be offering a breakfast for that price and should explain how to navigate the parking lot since the dual hotels sharing the same garage. But, they also have Ebony who knows how to treat a customer! Thank you Ebony! And Hilton... Get your act together!!!

Staff is a 12 out of 10. Valet super nice and helpful, check in and front desk staff always efficient and a delight to deal with same for housekeepers or any other staff we met along the way. This is the only hotel I have stayed at in the States that I think their bathroom is about comparable to ours at home. There is a separate space for the commode which offers some nice privacy if 2 are sharing the room. Housekeepers were adorable they placed out toiletries on emerald green cloths on the counter I truly believe the prettiest place in Charlotte to see the sun rise is at the indoor pool and spa area. It is gorgeous. Love that the pool area is more spa pool vibes with spa music. Hot tub is turned on by a button panel on the wall. Inside the hot tub there is a place to turn up or down the intensity of the jets. The hot tub has pretty colors in it from the underwater lighting. There is a great array of seating without feeling crowded. Meticulously cleaned. Like any time of day the indoor pool space was clean. I do like what they use instead of chlorine it was more gentle on my hair and skin. TV is a bit below average. Streaming speed is pretty slow. Limited on which streaming services that can be accessed. Additionally, the volume jumps a lot like the tv can be unable to be heard you turn the volume up and it is good. Then a second later it is super loud. Spouse said most modern tvs have an auto feature that manages this. But this is on Marriott and not the hotel as with some research it showed this is a pretty common issue most folks have about the tvs. We are buying a Roku stick to try and use in the future to access other streaming services we pay for at home. The beds are better than other hotels in the Marriott family but spouse and I still find them a bit uncomfortable. I would like to have them a more memory foam material than the spring with pillow top. Wardrobe was awesome it is a nice size. Lights up when the doors are opened and has a pretty floral scape along the back of it. I was able to keep my carry on sized suitcase in there. Spouse was able to hand my dress and his sports coat and pants for event we were going to. Room had plenty of counter space in the room and bathroom. This was great. Oddly there seemed to be drums that started playing outside at like 9am on Saturday that woke us both up. There was a wedding going on that weekend and I know they had some breakfasts not sure if there was maybe a morning ceremony too? Noise didn't last super long but woke us both up. The windows you can hear a fair amount of noise through from the street. Ordered room service I think 3 times. Very excellent experience each and every time. Each item was cooked perfectly and things like grilled chicken breast were still juicy and not overcooked. My K Lounge review will be separate from hotel but same 5/5. We enjoyed our stay. I mentioned it was our first visit so we opted for a full tour, but the welcome felt rushed and incomplete. We also noticed other guests being offered drinks upon arrival nothing was offered to us. We headed to the Aqua Lounge to relax and decided to order food. There was no staff in sight, so I eventually walked downstairs to place the order myself. The food was underwhelming, and it took 40 minutes for a turkey BLT, no napkins, it was an overall poor experience. We wanted to enjoy the hot tub but the jets were broken. You'd think everything would be fully functional in a hotel/spa of this caliber. I don't mind paying an automatic service charge when service is actually provided, but that wasn't the case here. I find that staff is less likely to care when the gratuity is automatic, which held true at this spa. The spa itself is beautiful, serene, and well designed. Our technicians, Renata and Kieyan, were professional, warm, and truly the highlight of the entire visit. If I were rating solely based on them, it would be a full five stars. If you're only looking for a great massage, I'd recommend this spa. If you're seeking a full luxury spa experience, go elsewhere.

The only thing that was a little set back was that it didn't offer a hot tub or pool. The lounge and bar -Sophia's was beautiful with unique decor also that all fit together perfectly with the hotel. The bed and room was very comfortable with plenty of room to rest and recuperate after our busy days in town. I would recommend this location to anyone staying in the area. So close to many restaurants and event areas or just to walk around town.

The only bummer upon check in was learning that the elevator was broken. My suitcase was a bit on the heavy side, as this was the front end of a week long North Carolina road trip. They delivered it, but it was still annoying. I loved the staff at Sophia's. They were so friendly. For sure stop in there for a cocktail. The room was comfortable. I love the funky side tables. We did complain about a certain smoky smell, the issue was addressed immediately. We were promised a credit that never materialized. When we checked out, we were offered bag service again (elevator still down), that also did not come to pass. We figured out that the same guy that was running the valet was also responsible for bag service. Impossible for one person to do both tasks efficiently and concurrently. This was a nice hotel, but definitely not Michelin Key level (we have stayed in many).

The checkin was quick and was allowed to keep the luggages at the front desk lobby as I arrived earlier than the check-in time. The morning free breakfast spread was good and the other amenities like gym and the indoor play area for kids were pretty cool. Couple of things I felt could have been different- - The room with the view and the included kitchen were great, but they didn't clean up the room or make the bed, the following days. - The floor consistently smelled caustic - like leaked chemicals.

Check in was at 4:00 pm which I felt was very late. The front desk said that they would have some rooms available after 1:00 pm, so we went to get a bite to eat. We returned at 2:30 pm and were told that no rooms were available. We had to sit in the lobby for another hour and a half and asked the desk several times to check availability of a clean room for us. Finally after approaching the desk at 4:00 pm our room became available. We got up to the room and opened the door and it had an odd smell to it. We were so exhausted from waiting for almost 4 hours to get our room we decided to proceed. Later we noticed that the AC unit seemed to be leaking and the carpet was wet around it. This is unacceptable. The room should not have been given to us at all. The breakfast was OK. There was no cut up fruit like we had at other Hampton Inns. Just a couple of apples in plastic wrap. The hotel is tired and needs to be updated. You need to do better.

I'm truly conflicted about this review…read more.. I spent the weekend at the Charlotte Courtyard for pleasure, and there are some things they did great, and some things that definitely feel short. On the side of awesomeness: Their location is incredible!!! Seriously, you'll be hard pressed to get a better location in Downtown Charlotte. Situated right in the center of Uptown, they are close to myriad bars and restaurants, nightlife, and activities. Close enough to everything to be walkable, just far enough away to avoid the weekend bar insanity. Also, the staff was incredible!! Everyone I interacted with was kind, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure my needs and wants were met. Last thing, the price was great!! Okay, the shortfalls: the rooms! While the beds and pillows were comfortable, the decor is about 20 years in need of renovation. Definitely circa 2002. Dark, dark walls made the room feel like a cave. And the ancient Motel 6 window air conditioning unit was so loud, I couldn't run it at night because it woke me up every time it kicked on. Also, they do have a lively rooftop pool. I heated. And it's in between two four-story wings of the hotel, so it gets minimal sun. And even on the hottest days (I was there in early Sept), the pool was an icy 50 deg. So again, I'm torn. Would I stay there again? Maybe. But at least I'd know what I'm in for. And now...so do you. And knowing is half the battle.

So I decided to give Courtyard a shot and it wasn't the best experience. Bottom line, if you're in…read moreneed of some rest and relaxation, I HIGHLY suggest choose a different hotel. First, the positives. It's located in the heart of uptown, which makes walking anywhere quick and simple. There is a public parking garage accessible from the hotel. The room is large enough for 2 people and the water pressure is top tier. Unfortunately, a fire alarm woke us up one morning. Emergency vehicles were arriving so we thought it was pretty serious. The fire alarm message directed us to use the stairs to exit and this became confusing. We followed an emergency exit sign which led us to a corner of confusion. One sign pointed in the direction we were heading and the other pointed in the direction we just came from (see picture). We decided to keep heading down our initial path, and the couple behind us decided to backtrack. Our path led us down a stairwell to a door that stated "not an exit" but also said "emergency exit" on the handle. We went through the door, which placed us on the 10th floor of the parking garage. From there, we had to find yet another way out... Ultimately, we all made it out, with no explanation of the cause. If this was a real emergency, there may have been some serious consequences. I hope they can add some clarity to their emergency exit signage during their remodel. More negatives. We stayed in room 314, and there was no headboard. There were only some weird, foam pieces with pillow cases. You can feel the springs in the bed, as it is VERY firm. If you're a side sleeper like me, this will hurt your back! I didn't know popcorn ceilings were still a thing, but there was some questionable fluid on it. And the bathroom seemed clean, until you looked at all of the hair that was left in many areas. Lastly, you can hear all of the grinding, drilling, and pounding from construction and every conversation in the hallway. If you choose to stay here, good luck
