Not a good experience! We were in Olathe, Kansas for a funeral and decided to stay at this hotel. What a mistake. It had dirty carpets, a ripped shower curtain and a smell of uncertain origin. We were going to leave but we only slept there. We went for breakfast the 1st morning and it was no better than the room. The food was cold, gravy looked like colored water. There were 4 danishes in the display and some bread. I've never seen a breakfast this scarce. And to top it off there was a tip container on the water dispenser asking for gratuity for service. The Best Western Plus in Olathe KS is horrible. The rooms have bedbugs. The guests are tweekers. The GM (pam) is very rude and unhelpful. The breakfast needs to be checked out by a member of the Department of Health. They cook eggs and assemble highly perishable foods in a dirty closet with a plug in hot plate from Walmart. One solo employee trying to keep the buffet filled! She is taxed. They do not provide her with soap or sanitizer to clean properly. The pool and workout room are so disgusting. No chemicals are used so they can save money. Its a huge disease factory. I have been in the Hotel industry for 35 years as an Executive Chef and have never seen anything like this! OMG! I cannot warn against this hotel enough. It is overpriced for what you get. The room had a film covering every surface, the sheets were questionable, the room smelled like onions for the entirety of our stay. The bathroom is TINY, the shower head had a filmy crust covering it, there were chunks of wall missing in the corners. The TV was going out and none of the outlets in the room would charge devices. read more

I've stayed here twice, first time was nice, second was terrible. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is nice overall, but when staying there the second time, there was NO HOT WATER at all when staying there for three days in December, during peak cold weather. We showered at three different times during the day/evening and it didn't matter when; there was cold water waiting for us. I called the front desk and the response was "there's nothing we can do. Try showering at a different time" after which I explained we'd showered at three separate times. Then: "I don't think there's anything we can do. The hot water is used up. I can send someone to check your room when he comes in but other than that we can't do anything." We left feedback after they asked us via email for feedback on our stay and we responded that our water was cold the entire time in the winter when we needed the hot water the most. There was no offer to comp anything or any free night or discount, or even, "we'll make sure to look into that so it doesn't happen again." It was something like "sorry and we hope you'll choose us again." We responded again and said "no, we won't stay at your hotel ever again because you can't even guarantee hot water to your customers." A hotel that says there's nothing they can do about cold water the entire stay doesn't want your business that badly. read more

We were very impressed with the large room but the bathroom area was super small. With a lot of wasted space in the entry of the room, this could have been utilized to make the bathroom bigger! The beds were fine and the air-conditioner worked good. Housekeeping woke us up at 8 AM to clean our room after we checked in after 11 PM the night before on a two night stay! There was no reason for her to wake us up! I talked to the front desk and the man said he would have a talk with her and that should not have happened. The next morning she was knocking on the door beside ours saying room service at 7:30am! Wow! The housekeeper did not replace the lotion or face soap or make up remover towelettes when she did clean our room that afternoon. We had some noise coming from the room above us. It sounded like kids were playing with a bouncing ball. I do you have to say the breakfast was very good with a lot of hot options. There were also blueberries and strawberries to top your waffles with. The breakfast attendants were very good at having everything stocked and clean. We stayed at this hotel on memorial weekend and the price was $50 more per night than it is normally. Not worth the extra money. We would stay here again if needed. read more

I really enjoyed my stay there. One of the people there even killed a spider for me that crawled down from the thing that you use to move your luggage up to your room. Buyer beware! When checking in this "dog-friendly" hotel I was not told that there was a per night dog fee of 30.00 plus tax. So almost 70.00 for a little dog that is well trained and doesn't shed. Had I been told I could have taken our 6 lbs dog to my son's house a few miles away. I was only asking for a refund for one night of the pet fee but Pam the manager was very rude and basically said it was all my fault for having a dog there even though I feel I should have been told about the high 30.00 nightly fee when checking in. Also, I had to go to the front desk at about 11:00 pm to ask for bedding for the sleeper sofa. When I got down there the gentleman was out front smoking and reeked of smoke as he came into help me. I would rate the hotel average but the service very poor. read more

My stay here was about as expected. I normally stay in Airbnbs but I chose a hotel this time because I only needed a one night stay in Olathe. This hotel was fine and the rooms were nicer than expected. The beds were comfy and the room was very clean. The breakfast was pretty good and had a variety of foods. Waffles, bagels, eggs, sausage, muffins, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice. 4/5 because they did not have hand soap in the rooms. I went to the front desk and asked for hand soap and they gave me a facial cleaning bar and she said "this is what I got". I think normal hand soap is a very basic thing to have. Also, the lamp on the desk in my room did not work. read more

Not too bad for the price - good value. There's a small indoor pool and small hot tub, which were nice to have. Breakfast was hot and decent, but my roommates weren't too keen on the green peppers that were in the eggs. I didn't mind them. Desk Clerk From Hell (drive on to the Marriott or Hilton) We booked this property back in November of 2014 for a May 2015 stay due to the high rating. WRONG! We arrived to the property late due to all the hectic things going on that day with college graduation plus the fact that we had to drive 200 miles to get there. We had 4 rooms all together in our party and they were all under separate reservations. As we entered the property we had some bald headed clown pushing a mop bucket who later was to identify him self as 'Ken' meet us at the front counter. We had talked with my brother in law earlier in the evening and he'd stated that when he arrived earlier that the first floor wreaked of raw sewage. He had come in for the graduation the night before as to avoid the rush. So we walk in and the first thing I ask Mr 'Ken' is my God, do you have a sewer problem? To which this clown replied and I quote "I don't smell anything". My wife Julie asked "can't you smell that"? and again he replies "I can't speak to that". So my 77 year old mother steps up to the desk and says "do you have any spray of any kind to mask this atrocious smell"? to which this clown (Ken) replies "this is an all natural hotel but if you'd like I can give you the directions to Wal Mart which is about 5 miles away". It was clear this clown (Ken) was in complete denial of the situation. I then replied, are you smoking crack? I mean really? It was a crappy stay that was ruined by this clown at the desk that is better suited to be working at Wal Mart. The room was adequate and sort of clean except for all of the sewer/drain flies in the room and in the bathroom from the sewer problem. (see pictures below) The lady behind the desk called and left my wife a message on Saturday that they would take 25% off of everyone s bill for each night for our trouble. Really? A whole 25%? These rooms should have been comped and this idiot at the desk fired on the spot. We took a chance on a Best Western property once and it ruined our weekend watching our daughter graduate from the University Of Kansas. I have traveled all over the world the past 5 years playing music and this is without a doubt the WORST customer service I have ever experienced anywhere. Do yourselves a favor and drive by this property and stop at a nice place with great customer service like the Marriott or Hilton properties in the area. read more

We just spent the night at this BW+ Olathe location last night. We've spent the last four nights in three different BW's and this was by far the best experience. I slept like a log! The room was quite hot when we arrived to it, but it cooled down quite quickly. The room was big and accommodated my husband and our two young kids perfectly. We didn't get a chance to try out the pool, but it looked good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the BW Points Membership (which is free to sign up) saved us nearly $40 off the room! My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the shampoo and conditioner...it was some crumby off-brand and didn't work too great. But I suppose most people pack their own, I'd just ran out along our trip. Overall a great stay and I would definitely stay again. read more

I stayed here for a week long business trip. I didn't want my room cleaned because I was working graveyard and I didn't want anyone in my room while I was asleep. If I needed something I'd ask the maids before I went to bed. The people from the front desk called me EVERYDAY asking why I had my "DO NOT DISTURB" sign out...really? It says do not disturb and these people woke me up EVERYDAY. I repeatedly told them I'm working nights and I don't want anyone in my room. That was really the only thing that bothered me. The place is nice, room is decent, continental breakfast is good. A friend of mine staying hete for work as well found the gentleman from the frontdesk in her room, he was "checking on how the maids cleaned" but I smell something fishy. I made reservations here for a two night stay while driving through from Virginia to Colorado with an infant and a dog. I arrived at the hotel around 11 am. And asked for my room. The desk attendant I formed me that my room wasn't clean and I could come back at 3. I asked if there was another room that was clean and he told me no, all the rooms would be cleaned at 3. I told him I don't have anywhere for myself, child, and dog to go for 4 hours. He said I could hang out in the lobby. The attendant was very rude and condescending to me. I canceled my reservation and went across the street where they gave me a room right away. I was not upset about having to wait for a room. But waiting more than an hour and being talked down to is ridiculous. However, the attendant was more then willing to allow me to cancel my reservations. read more

Had a reservation for one of my employees to stay the night. Because he did not physically have my company credit card in-hand they refused to let him stay. I called to confirm the transaction but only to fail. When I asked to talk to manager I could not. When I called the next business day to talk to the manager about it. I was told that I would be lucky if they returned my call. I had to call back in the afternoon to reach the manager. POOR Customer service for not even returning a phone call! read more

Booked a room at this hotel through Expedia for April 19 by accident the date popped up April 29th. I called the hotel spoke with Ken and asked to please change the date, he stated "Expedia would not change dates". He offered us a room for a much lower rate than Expedia for April 19, but we would have to book right now or the price would not be available again, he said we could cancel until 4:00 pm. I called Expedia and they were very willing to change the date, from April 29 to April 19 but had to confirm with the hotel, I was put on hold while Expedia called. Expedia said the hotel would not change the date. I asked Expedia who did they speak with they said Ken. So evidently, we were now booked for two separate dates. Called Ken and cancelled the reservation he gave us and went elsewhere, he was not very pleasant, in other words Ken could have changed the date but was going to have April 19 and April 29 bookings. I would never book here again. This is the first and only time we had a bad experience with a Best Western. read more
