    Cob webs!!!

Bugs bugs and more bugs! Very dirty. Staff dosnt' care! Elevator is broken which is not big deal but you have to use the stair well that's filled with stink bugs and centipedes!!! Room was filled with cob webs. Room next to us said they had spiders! We were going to book 2 more nights but went to another hotel!

    Dirty toilet

One of the worst hotels by far on my road trip from east coast to west coast. This hotel from the start smelled like cigar from the moment you stepped into the lobby. We thought it would be better once entering the room to only find out this cigarette smell was even stronger in the room. We had to go out to buy air freshener and disinfectant spray and pretty much had to remove dust from all furniture. To top it off, the toilet was dirty with a yellow-brown ring of moss, the side of the tub had orange moss growing, and the blankets were stained with who knows what! Avoid this place for sure.

One room has a bathroom adjacent in the hall and leads to a kitchen area and living space. Full kitchen comes with anything you need including utensils, cutlery, and even those condiments you forgot! There is also a balcony with tables chairs and grill. If you get the penthouse on the third floor you won't be disappointed! Huge full kitchen with amenities like the second floor Kitchen. This place is within walking distance of many great Alton eateries and shops. Also only a 16 minute drive to Grafton or Edwardsville for for entertainment. One drawback is the parking. No dedicated lot so it's only street parking. There are dedicated spaces out front and side parking is available too. We cannot wait to come back and utilize this space again! *Wasn't able to picture of all the rooms just mine*

The beds were very uncomfortable, most of the plugs did not function between the beds, the A/C and heat was very loud in both rooms, and no one ever came to our room to refresh anything. We had to ask someone to come and bring fresh towels, toilet paper, more soap, and empty the trash. I understand that this is post-Covid and that workers are hard to find but no one should stay in a hotel room designed for a weekend and not have anyone ever come by for at least a refresh of the room. I think my favorite part was every day we would come down about nine for breakfast, and there would be hardly anything hot left to eat until just before 10 when the kitchen was closing. Now you ask yourself, why would they bring out new fresh food at closing time, right? That's easy, the food was for the employees to come in and eat breakfast after the kitchen closed. So the point is that they would rather save the fresh food for the employees instead of bringing it out for the people who are paying to stay at the hotel. Also, the breakfast area and tables were very dirty with food and just general mess. The only day this did not happen and everything was the way it should be was on Saturday, December 31, 2022, whoever that employee was working, the kitchen did a dramatically better job with the kitchen and keeping the tables clean. I'm not overreacting, it was ridiculous and this comes from many years working on the road staying in hundreds of different hotels all over the country.

My room was very clean. Nice shower! It is rare for me to praise a shower. But this one was very nice. White (glass?) walls. Very clean. Sliding glass door. Walk in shower. Towels smelled burnt. I think they are dried in a very hot dryer and it gives them that burned smell. The inside of the elevator needs a good wiping down. I thought it would be cleaned in the morning, but it wasn't. The maid staff and the check-in staff were all very friendly. The pool is nice. We enjoyed our visit in the pool. As I said, the train is loud. Also, the walls are quite thin. I could hear someone else's phone call on speaker phone through the walls. Once I turned on the fan to run full time, it was fine though. I didn't hear anything and I could sleep quite well then. Also, there was a very nice pillow selection and the bedding was comfortable.

I can not BELIEVE what a buffet we have had!!! My daughter's room is on the 3rd floor and it is equally nice. The breakfast buffet in the morning is, quite possibly, the BEST and nicest we have seen at a hotel in a LONG time. I can't imagine what else they could do to make it more appealing! The halls are quiet and calm, you can't hear any noise from rooms on either floor. The pool is indoors, and it is clean, doesn't burn your eyes whatsoever, and it doesn't take you out from chemicals when you walk in. The gym is really nice, and I loved having a spot to relax that was just for me. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. If you are traveling and need a nice, calm, yet fun (pooll and gym) place to stay, I say this is your place! There was plentiful parking as well since there wasn't a lot of people here. Checking it was an easy process and they had items and their food pantry but their selection was very minimal and Bare Bones and if there was something that you liked it was absolutely expensive. The hotel looks like it went under a remodel recently and it looks great in the lobby and in the hallways but once you're in the room it might be a different story. The shower was poorly put together with a sliding doors one of the doors was stuck the entire time in the shower all the other one nearly fell off the track. It felt like they rushed the remodel. Beds and amenities here are pretty nice. I realize that there was a loud breathing sound and I was trying to figure out where it was coming from. At first it sounds like Darth Vader was around the corner but actually this room has a very loud mini fridge. I had a nice nap so I decided to go downstairs to have some breakfast . It looks like the person that was supposed to make breakfast didn't show up so breakfast was being rushed 30 minutes late . They had some of my favorite selection like the red skin potatoes but the sausage that was made was terrible! Nearly the entire batch was burnt and unedible. Overall, it was not my best stay here.

The hotel's location is a little odd, since you have to take a side road to get in, but the surrounding area felt safe. Check-in was fine, but the wheels on antique looking luggage trolleys didn't work. When we got to our room around 8 pm,, I checked to make sure the shower products were filled, since they often aren't. Sure enough, the shampoo and hair conditioner were there, but also a bottle of body lotion placed inside the shower instead of shower gel which I'm guessing was an honest mistake. The bathroom floor was sticky--not sure if it was from cleaning products or something else, but it definitely didn't feel clean. There was also some musky smell; maybe the room was just dated and old. The TV worked, but the Netflix button on the remote didn't, and it seemed like there were no streaming options, which was disappointing since most Hamptons we've stayed at have already been upgraded with those features. Breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn setup--decent but nothing memorable. Overall, it was an okay stay. The location and staff were fine, but housekeeping really needs to pay attention. Cleanliness is such a big part of a good hotel experience, and that's where this property fell short.
