Well, it doesn't look like me and the crew are gonna make it all the way to Salt Lake today, so we decide to call it a day of traveling here in Wendover. Wendover as well as West Wendover are right at the Utah border and they go by the next time zone, so you gotta change you clocks for that. This hotel, The Best Western Plus, is not my usual hotel chain we stay at for travel, but there weren't any Holiday Inn Expresses in town, so I just picked this place as some place sort of similar with, you know free breakfast and clean rooms and a level above Motel 6 or something. Checking in was no problem, all credit cards taken and the staff was friendly. My crew seemed happy not to have to travel any more. We lugged all out stuff in and got to our rooms just fine. My room was clean and the first thing I do is try to log onto the WIFI. It works fine and speed is OK to get my work done. The bathroom was nice and the hot water had good pressure, cause I could use a long hot shower right about now. My little water tank at home just runs out too fast! Everyone else said the rooms were fine. Breakfast was on level with most free hotel breakfasts. Coffee was hot and the food was too. It's nice to have a little change in breakfast choice from our usual Holiday Inn Express. Tomorrow is back on the road to Salt Lake. At least the speed limit is 80mph! read more

It was clean, beds and pillows comfortable. Nice pool. Front desk workers helpful and informative. Continental Breakfast was ok. Would be nice to have more of a variety of hot food on different days. Like biscuits and gravy. AC worked good and was much needed where it was 102 outside. The workers seemed to keep busy and working hard to keep the premises nice and clean. I stayed for one night was charged for two with separate room charges on my credit card one day apart. I called and management said they would look into it and call me back the following day which they didn't. I called the next day and was told I should call back in the morning. I called again the following day the manager said he was off shift but would look into it and call me back the following day... This hotel is a great place to stay when visiting Wendover. The rooms are clean, tidy and modestly decorated. The customer service at the front desk was perfectly splendid, easy check-in and check-out. The staff was friendly and helpfully accommodating. I was so grateful for this Best Western which is on the Utah side. We didn't want to stay in a casino, and it was nice to have an option away from the bright lights. The parking lot was good sized and well lit so we felt safe. Check in was easy and the room was very comfortable. They have the small size pillows that I'm not thrilled about, but I guess it's just me. As others have noted, it's not easy to get enough soap/shampoo/conditioner out...you need to be patient. Water strength was good and it stayed hot for me and my daughter. After bringing everything upstairs, we decided we didn't want to hit a restaurant, so we drove to the Smiths on the other side of town and picked up some frozen meals. We were surprised that there isn't a microwave in the room. There is one in every other BW so we just assumed there would be one. We went downstairs into the breakfast nook and found a strong microwave that helped make our supper quickly. And there were utensils there...so we didn't need to buy them, but that's ok. My daughter will use them up. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Checkout was easy. I did ask if I'd get emailed a receipt but didn't get one. The charge did match the quoted price so I'm satisfied. I would stay here again. read more

We went on a fantastic drive through Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada & California! The only thing I regret is that we didn't ALWAYS stay at a Best Western Plus. We did stay at them in Denver (DTC) and in Wendover. Each was at the top of their game; excellent service at front desk, clean & tidy rooms, and the added value of breakfast being included brought the whole BWP experience home. Clean place. Easy check in and out. It does have a laundry facility as well as pool and spa. Rooms seems relatively clean although my hubby thought he smelled some smoke scent even though our room were non smoking. My main gripe was that the walls are thin so what ever people did in the room above or next to us we could hear and it disturbed my sleep. Not bad for a place to stay for a night when visiting the salt flats. read more

We had a great stay here. Staff was friendly, especially the lady cleaning and restocking the breakfast buffet. The indoor pool and hot tub felt great after a long day on the road and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic. My only complaint would be that the soap dispensers in the shower only dispensed a drop at a time making showering a little frustrating. If we were staying another night I would have asked for some bottles to use for the next shower. The water pressure also wasn't great but that seems to be a typical hotel thing. I am yelping while waiting for the water to heat up so I can take a shower ... it's been running for 10-15 minutes already and is not even lukewarm! I've stayed at this motel numerous times, since it is a reliable pet-friendly, clean place to stay at roughly the half-way point between where I live now and my hometown. I do remember it taking a little time for the water to heat up, but it hasn't been this bad. Usually I'm able to stay on the first floor, near the exit closest to the dog exercise area in the back that has some grass and a pet waste bag dispenser. This time, though, they put me on the 3rd floor ... could that be the reason the water is taking so long to heat up? The pet area is almost completely iced-over (it was ~2 weeks ago as well, when I stayed here on my trip out) ... the sidewalk is clear so at least it is not dangerous to walk from the parking lot to the building, but my dog was sliding all over as she was sniffing for (and not finding) a good spot. I eventually went over to a different grassy area so that she could pee. I get that there has been snow and frigid temperatures, but I think the problem here is drainage -- other grassy areas that have a little contour are not this icy. Okay. Water is still cold ... called the front desk and they said they'd send someone up ... ****** The maintenance guy came up in about 10 minutes ... turns out that the fixture handle was installed backwards, so cold is hot and hot is cold! Not that you would know that when first turning on the water, since it does take time to heat up (but why would you run cold ...) Grr. Almost an hour's delay getting back on the road for a mis-installed handle? Not super psyched about that. Also note that their "green" soap/shampoo/conditioner/lotion dispensers are especially green because they don't work worth a damn. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner, and snag the face bar from the sink for soap. On the bright side, they do have decent wifi. read more

The outside of the hotel and lobby look really nice. Breakfast was ok, gym was ok, pool was ok, staff was ok. Rooms were terrible. Looked like they had a water leak from the top floor and didn't care to fix it. Ceilings were damaged. Bathroom shower fixture was taped on (which is an easy fix) along with the Drain also looked like it needed a quick repair. Bedding looked worn and not well kept. 4 stars for being a small town hotel. I'd consider this the best option for the area. There were some pretty sleezy motels around the area, do yourself a favor and just book the Best Western. The hotel was clean and staff was all very friendly. We stayed here for two nights while we were exploring the Bonneville Salt Flats & nearby trails. Check in was easy. The room was spacious and had a comfortable king bed, pillows + all typical amenities (fridge, hair dryer, desk, coffee maker, etc). They offer a continental breakfast from 6-10am which had the basic options (waffles, eggs, yogurt, bagels, muffins). Nice grab and go items as well. The coffee was oddly kind of gross so I just made a cup in the room. The breakfast was super helpful as your other dining options are fast food in the morning or gross casino food. Plus goes until 10am if you need to sleep in. Location is great! Easy to get on/off freeway. Quick drive or decent walk to local casinos up the road in NV. Plenty of parking in the parking lot - can likely accommodate trailers or trucks/moving trucks towards the back of the lot. read more

This is by far the dirtiest hotel we have stayed at. Right when we get in to the room there was dog poop on the floor, through out the night we stepped in chunks of dog poop that was left. When speaking to the front desk regarding this they did not believe us and did not do anything about it. They said "house keepers wouldn't leave dog poop in the room". Spare your family and your feet do not stay here. Take your business to a hotel that will actually care about their guests. Rudest and worst experience, will never stay with this hotel again, I would rather sleep in my car. read more

I love our one night stay. They took my Yorkie in for only a $10 charge. Spacious King suite. Clean. Soft mattress and pillows. Leatherette small love seat. Carpet and faux wood flooring. When we made reservation we asked for a first floor room or something close to the elevator (handicap) . When we checked in the hotel was full and we ended up on the third floor. The elevator is at one end of the hotel (not at the center) and our room was 2/3 of the way down the hall. Since they were sold out, there were no rooms to switch us to so we ended up having pizza delivered. read more

I checked in and front desk was very friendly. Went to room and there is no microwave or thermostat in refrigerator. The bathroom was very clean. Night crew at front desk seemed like she was lost. Breakfast area was very small. Have to walk to room 129. Yes the upkeep is very good. Not their fault that the room had nothing to offer but coffee in the room. I'm 100% disabled veteran and had two dogs and the are pet friendly and understand why they put us at the far end of the hallway. I recommend getting microwave in each room and refrigerator that has controls on them. read more

Not the same atmosphere compared to other best western. But it did the job. I was force to stop here since it started snowing and the road was covering up the roads. They do not have designated parking for semis but you can park your semi on the street. The person at the front desk was very friendly when I called about 18 wheeler parking. Upon showing up the same front desk clerk gave me the low down on everything. It was hard to understand the clerk, he had an accent but I get the idea. The clerk stated that the have a to go breakfast due to covid. On my way out the next day, another clerk was working at the front desk. She was ready to check me out and let me on my way. I had to asked for the to go breakfast. I'm surprised she did not asked me if I wanted it. The Togo breakfast was nothing to be impressed about either. It consisted of a small water bottle where you can basically drink it in one gulp. There was a packaged of small donuts and a banana that seems like it should have been given away a day ago. Another problem I had was that there was not really any places that did food delivery around the area. It okay if you have a car but not when you are in an 18 wheeler. The hotel did not even have a vending machine for snacks. So I did not get to eat dinner that night. Over all great stay. read more

Pretty disappointed. We stay primarily at Best Westerns 300+ days a year. This one is poorly managed and dirty. Footprints on the wall, dirt stains on the comforters, piss stained and scented chair, and 2 towels when 3 people were on the reservation. All amenities were shut down while other best westerns keep the pool and gym open. Felt like an excuse for management to do the bare minimum and blame it on COVID. No microwave in the room, even though the ads said there are. Refrigerator froze our food and ruined it... with no way to warm it up to defrost it. Poorly managed property. read more

TLDR: (1) Upon check-in, the night clerk requested to buy quarters off of me. (2) The second bed in the room was stripped of all its linens and pillows when I checked in. (3) When I checked out, I was accused to my face of stealing the linens from the second bed and accused again on the phone after I left. I'm a little delayed in writing this review, but I do think it's important to warn people. I travel frequently between Northern California and the Dakotas. Occasionally, I end up staying in Wendover. When I do, this Wendover Best Western Plus has historically served my needs well as they are one of the few hotels in the area that allows pets. The last time I stayed with them was in February, 2022. I arrived around 11:30 pm and was exhausted from driving all day. I called a few minutes ahead to see if they had rooms and they did. When I pulled into the parking lot, someone (who looked much like the front desk clerk I was about to meet) screeched into the parking lot and ran into the building. When I checked in, she requested to buy quarters off of me, which I thought was really strange. But I was tired, so I really didn't care that much. I go to my room, which had two queen beds in it, and saw that one of the beds was completely stripped of all the linens and pillows. At the time, I didn't care because there was another bed for me to sleep in (which is all I needed), I was exhausted, and had to get up early the next morning to do more driving. So, I didn't say anything about it and went to sleep. The next morning I go to check out. I am the kind of person who just likes to leave the key in the room and leave, but for some reason, I decided to drop the key off at the front desk while my car warmed up. But I was cranky because I was still tired and was facing bad weather during that's day's driving. So, I walked in, dropped the key on the counter and walked out. One of the staff members stopped me as I was walking out and accused me of stealing the bed linens and pillows. I told her it was like that when I checked in and she said to me, "That's impossible. We do checks." I told her I didn't know what to say, that I didn't have her nasty used hotel crap" and walked out. A few minutes later, she calls me as I'm driving and accuses me again. This time I'm not kind and verbally let her have it and again said, "I don't know what you want me to do. I don't have your [expletive] bed linens." She says she's going to check the cameras. I said, "Great! I look forward to the next phone call where you apologize" and hung up. She never called me back. As far as I know, I don't have a warrant out for my arrest in Utah and was never charged for any missing items. I filed a complaint with Best Western corporate online and they suggested I call them, but I don't have time for crap like that. My recommendation to Best Western is to have their people NOT accuse paying customers of stealing their nasty used hotel sheets, blankets, and pillows until AT LEAST they've verified they didn't make a mistake on their end. I think I was still charged $100 for the room, but they didn't charge me for the pet fee, which was better than nothing, I guess. But it wasn't enough to make up for being accused of theft and lying. Who knows what would've happened if I were to call corporate back, but it's too late for that. My recommendation to Best Western customers is (1) Don't give your hard-earned money to a Best Western that thinks it's OK to accuse their customers of theft and then basically call them a liar and (2) If you HAVE TO stay here, make sure everything looks the way it's supposed to when you check in and if it doesn't, say something right away. Or risk being accused of theft. Because of this one Best Western in the middle of nowhere Utah, I will never give any other Best Western my money again. I asked if they were supposed to make this noise? Then he said, "I don't know." Either way. He refused to give us a different room. Refused to discount this room. The hotel was clean and well equipped. The sound of running water from showers and toilets are very loud. We were on the 2nd floor and it seemed like elephants were on the 3rd floor right above us. If you're wanting to sleep at all, this may not be the hotel for you. Literally all night, the person above would pace back and forth so I called the front desk to ask if she would kindly call the person. She did not sound happy but the noise stopped but by then, it was already 6am. The pool is very nice and clean. The coin laundry was a bit expensive but got the job done. Omg. How do they do it?? This BW is immaculate. The grounds, the lobby, the hallways, the room. Sparkling clean. AND they allow dogs. Not a poop pile anywhere and lots of grass for walking dogs. They automatically put me in a first floor room near the specific dog potty grass area which was so appreciated. I didn't even have to ask. The room was beautiful, large, comfortable and CLEAN. Fridge was cold. Microwave in the breakfast room was available. Front desk help extremely pleasant. I can't get over this property. Kudos to owner/management. Breakfast was good. I was traveling across country and wanting to stop every 8 hours, Triple A recommended Wendover and this hotel. Later I discovered that clearly Triple A has some sweetheart agreement to push crappy regional casinos. When I pulled into this desolate town I was struggling to figure out how this was recommended as a overnight. I soon drove past a number of mediocre casinos and quickly realized I was on the NV/UT line (so you can hop back and forth if you want to sin.) The hotel was tired and cramped; it didn't exceed my already low expectations when I saw it was a Best Western. If you hope to eat in Wendover and, like me, you have no interest in setting foot in a casino, your only food options are fast food (the healthiest being Subway.) Breakfast was cramped into a severely crowded small room, where it seemed like all the hotel's patrons felt obligated to eat anything free they could find. I was glad that they had hard boiled eggs and adequate coffee. Not terrible, but definitely low budget, and I was glad to leave. read more

Stayed one night with my partner. Had to call the front desk three times because the pounding noise from the room above us was so loud - our room was actually shaking. It went on from about 9:30pm till 3am. When we asked for some kind of compensation for a lost night's sleep, we got a $20 pet refund. When we got home, we had bed bug bites - my partner had 11. The manager would not acknowledge the problem. Have you ever had to deal with bed bugs? All clothes and bedding to be washed, vacuum everything in the house, put suitcases outside either in heat or things in the freezer to kill the hitch hiker bugs. They're insidious! Still waiting to see if I have an infestation. Expedia, called to try and get us a refund but the manager refused. Stay there at your own peril. read more

The staff were very nice. We had booked another hotel that ended up having horror movie vibes, and called this place last minute. Beds were the softest I've ever slept in and the room was clean. They have many amenities but most closed due to Covid. They were careful and safe with breakfast the next morning by making goodie bags of food for the guests to come and pick up. "a Hidden Gem right down from the casinos"-Me Arrived late at night. Checking in was seamless, we got to stay in the accessible room which was close to the door. We had not asked for this we just happened to get it. The room was nice the shower was very easy. The room is very clean and friendly as far as plug-ins being exposed etc. In the morning from 6 to 10 they had a continental breakfast which although I couldn't eat much from, I did have orange juice and a banana. Bina at the front counter got me signed up with a Best Western membership which had no fee. It will get me free stays in the future. We make trips out here semi-regularly and this will be a place we will be happy to stay at again and recommend to family. read more

When is the last time they inspected the elevator? If you want to strike it rich, ride in there enough times and you may be able to get a lawsuit. The staff at the front desk was terrible when getting the right charges on my credit card (they were unable to follow instructions) and they were not upfront with their pricing. There is also a rabid pack of Chihuahuas that live in the junkyard next door and run around barking at everyone and their pets 24/7. The one good thing I could say about this place is the maids did a great job and the breakfast was good some mornings. Great job maids! read more
