I would give it a zero if I could. This place is gross! Upon checking in the smell of chemicals were so strong and this should have been the first red flag. We got to our room there was black hair all over the bed and blood on the curtains! I put my stuff back in my car faster than I could call the front desk. I then called the front desk to let them know what was going on and the guy was so rude and hung up on me. I also didn't feel safe this place is next to a smoke shop and a gas station. We have been here twice recently with family events. Was a little nervous about our stay but I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted enthusiastically by Patty at the front desk. There was a few softball teams staying our first weekend there and she thoughtfully gave us a quite room away from the action. She explained the pool hours and invited us to a yummy complimentary hot breakfast the next morning. Our room was comfortable. Great comfy bedding, a microwave, fridge and coffeemaker helped make everything inviting. The next morning we had the breakfast in the breakfast room and it was surprisingly good. Eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit and breakfast beverages. Upon checkout Patty asked about our stay , which was great and even offered a few local spots to visit before we went home . This is a hidden gem of a motel and Patty is a wonderful ambassador for Best Western!!! read more

Spent 3 weeks. Excellent place to stay. Clean cozy rooms with microwave, mini fridge, nice AC/Heater. Pretty quiet. Close to freeway and plenty of places to eat within walking distance or a short drive. Black Angus restaurant next door. House keeping consistent. Front desk very helpful and accommodating. We needed a room for a pageant to get ready, the rooms were clean I just wish they had turned the air on, it was a hot day in September and we were only there for 2 hours and it took 30 minutes before the room cooled down to get ready. They also charged us extra for an early checkin but we used the room for around two hours and checked out . They could have given us a little grace since they could resell the room that night and had barely any cleaning to do since we just used the bathroom to get ready. read more

I've never been treated so poorly by a company before! I arrive to the Best Western after midnight and when I showed the front desk worker in my confirmation, he claimed to have not been able to find it in the system. After a long drive from Central California, I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was lay down. After a lot of back-and-forth, the hotel worker denied me access to the room that I have paid for and have the confirmation number for proof. I was forced to sleep in my car outside of the hotel with no blanket, no pillows and was freezing cold. to top it off when I called corporate and the hotel itself, no one wanted to own up and claim responsibility for the Hotel action and I was not given a refund. Then there is that beautiful Christmas tree n the lobby which I was told was done by Patricia's niece Diana. Me and my family stayed here a couple of nights while attending a softball tournament and the hotel was only a couple of miles from the Santee Sportsplex. This is probably one of the worst hotels that I have ever stayed at and paid way to much for the bad experience. The other reason I stayed here was it was pet friendly at $30.00 per night. The room was not clean and the shower spout did not work properly.The air conditioner did not work properly and there was no room service so garbage was not picked up. It did have a frig and microwave. Loud noise from the next door plumbing was obnoxious. Pool and hot tub was not operational and the only thing that worked was the ice machine. I will never stay at this hotel again! read more

Was there last night at 12/20/2023 left my weed there, asked for it back, hadn't even been checked out an hour before I realized it was gone (hadnt smoked in the room or anything like that) They straight up lied to my face saying they didnt have it. I know for a fact it was, even told them where to find it. Again lied to my face saying they didn't have it. If I could give zero stars I would. Worst customer service at this place. I called to see if I they had rooms available and spoke with Ben. He said yes that they had several and quoted me a price or $140. After I asked him if they could take my Best Western Gift Card he said "I don't know if our system works or not to accept your gift card, but we can find out when you get here." I explained that we are driving from 2 hours away and that the value on the gift are is $50. He explained that we will not know if his system works or not until we arrive. Excellent hotel My house burned in Feb and these wonderful people took us in and even allowed our dogs! The night of the fire -we lived nearby- we had nothing and no place to stay. After the trauma of the event the last thing we wanted was to be separated from each other and leave our dogs any place. They gave our family adjoining rooms and let us keep our dogs with us The rooms are clean the people that work there are so kind! I highly recommend this hotel and I am so grateful for them all read more

The room was horrible and very very rundown. There were flies all over the sink and restroom area. The shower had holes in the panel and chipping. The hotel clerk/manager used the excuse that our room would not be cleaned due to covid19 which is a lie as most hotels still clean the rooms. Also the manager said that we would also not be getting clean towels during our stay. So basically $200 per night was ridiculous. Not recommended and my family and I were very disappointed. Will NEVER stay at another Best Western again. The owner's do NOT take pride in owning their properties. read more

Been here for 30 min and already the worst experience! We walked in and our TV wasn't working, our refrigerator didn't have any shelves in it and was STILL dirty. We had finger prints on our mirror and it looked like our room wasn't done being remodeled or something....the guy that checked me in,josh, didn't tell me about breakfast or our WiFi info. I let him know if I had a choice I wouldn't pay them anything and find another hotel. He didn't seem to care but from other reviews it's apparent he's a problem. He shouldn't be working in the front desk. I've always had great experiences with best western but its frustrating when you come off of a 5 hr drive and walk in to this. I don't recommend, I will be reviewing all sites to let everyone know. The only nice person was the maintenance guy who fixed our TV. read more

Our stay here was great. Over the last year all this illness nonsense has made our expections, mediocre at best. This is not the Hilton, anyone who expects that is in the wrong place. If only it isn't a holiday weekend (4th of July) where hotel rates are ridiculously expensive, I would have chosen to stay somewhere else. However, we stayed at Best Western by Grand Canyon before and it was nice. So I assumed that this property will be the same as well. The room is small, with double bed. Thank goodness I did not find any bugs or bed bugs. Table lamp, phone, and clock were dusty. The bed cover they have looked pretty worn and not tucked around the bed at all. The wall by the sink has a hole in it. And the shower wall has cracked paint And a smoke detector in a plastic! How does that work? Anyway, after being inside the room after half an hour and accepting the fact we're stuck here, it somehow wasn't as bad after all. But for a rate of almost $145 a night, I will not go back to this property. read more

My brother traveled from Northern California to Southern California to visit family. I live in El cajon so he picked a close motel for him and his gf to stay. Once they turned the lights off to sleep he saw a "lady bug" like bug crawling on top of the covers. He turned the lights on, flipped the covers over he saw bed bugs. He placed one in a plastic bag ,took it to the office and got a refund and left. They are now in route to Del Mar looking for a cleaner motel to stay. Avoid this place. read more

I usually don't complain. But, after taking a shower at the Best Western in Santee, I walked across the floor of the bedroom area. By the time I got to the bed, the bottoms of my feet were BLACK with filth! The same thing happened to my wife (see the photo). I went to the front desk and showed the photo to the desk clerk. I booked on Expedia...... I totally screwed up and put the wrong date down for my reservation. The staff at both Expedia and BestWestern saved my ass since I didn't pay the free cancellation fee. The front desk lady was incredibly kind! The rest of the staff was very accommodating and kind as well. The room was clean, modern and only steps away from the very inviting pool. Super convenient to restaurants and a local 7/11 just a few minute walk from the hotel. The other business that's super close is the Honey Donut establishment. Honestly I live in Santee. Me and my girl just wanted a pool in a local get away for an evening. A staycation if you will, so we frequent Honey Donuts all the time. Great donuts, staff and a wide variety of sandwiches. Another good place to eat is just across the street. Felipe's is one of the best places in San Diego for pizza and Italian food. The breakfast at Best Western was very good for a continental breakfast. Eggs, sausage and waffles as well as a wide variety of other things. All and all, we will definitely be back for another in town staycation when a pool and super convenience is required. This was the worst hotel stay we've ever experienced. We understand that the Best Western is considered sort of a middle ground as far as hotels go, but we have always had fabulous stays, clean rooms, and great service and we are Gold members. BW Santee looks quaint from the outside, but that's the last good thing I can say about it. The bathroom was infested with ants, the AC unit didn't work at first because the filters were completely clogged. We had to remove the filters before it could blow cold air, and then it proceeded to leak all over the floor. We tried placing a coffee cup under the drip to contain it, but the cup was full every ten minutes. We noticed that our feet were BLACK after walking barefooted for a few minutes. The gentleman at the front desk had about as much personality as a ream of paper and even hung up on my boyfriend after we requested a late checkout. I couldn't get any hot water in the shower, even on the hottest setting, unless my boyfriend flushed the toilet. Disappointed is too mild a word to describe the let down we experienced here. read more

This Best Western Lodge Hotel is trashy inside and outside. The employees were nice at first but then they were rude and careless. Every time I was in the parking lot I would always see people doing drugs, drinking alcohol, getting drunk smoking weed, smoking cigarettes, vaping, and having sex in the parking lot in or outside their vehicles. The park lot is a super small but okay to park in. My hotel room number 207 smelt like cigarettes and so did my ac & heater unit every time I went to go use it. The filter in the ac & heater needs to be cleaned bad. I couldn't even use because it smelt so bad. The toilet in the bathroom is not handicap accessible my disabled grandmother had a hard time using it. The beds have no extra blankets just a sheet and a thin blanket. They are also bouncy and squeaky. No room service. The maids were hardly around. The room has stains and scratches and holes from other guests who have stayed here before us. It needs to be deep cleaned and redone. The breakfast: They have oatmeal, Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, Brand Flakes, strawberry Activia peach Activia yogurts, Vanilla Activia Yogurts, Skim Milk, regular milk, Boiled Eggs in a container, packets of butter, packets of ketchup, Packets of salt, packets of pepper, packets of fruit jelly, plastic utensils, Paper plates, plastic cups, paper cups, orange juice , Farmer Brothers regular or decaffeinated coffees, green tea bags, black tea bags, sugar packets, a bottle of French Vanilla creamer, a bottle of Original creamer, a bottle of Hazelnut cream, apples, oranges, small store bought lemon poppy seed muffins, store bought banana nut muffins, store bought Crescents, sliced white bread, sliced wheat bread, a toaster, the juice machine is broken only works on one dispenser, a microwave, a freezer, eggs that are precooked, sausage links that are precooked on a heating plate, a hot & cold water machine, tables are small can only fit 2-3 people. The breakfast 7am-9am daily the room is small you exit out the exit door not through the hotel lobby area. It's not worth it. The swimming pool and hot tub is outside and is gated it is dirty it needs to be remodeled the pool is not heated the hot tub is heated. It's open 10am-7pm can fit up to 6 people it's not worth it. They don't serve lunches or dinners here just small breakfast only what a disappointment. There's a smoke shop and a 711 store on the left side next to the hotel area if you want to get food or drinks it has better options. There's only 2 vending machines outside the hotel room area they don't take cards only cash. The hotel soap is so weak that it dried out my skin I could not even use it I had to go buy some other soap to use for my showers in the hotel room. The bathtub was decent. The LG TV was decent I enjoyed it. The WiFi is easy to set up. I'm not really sure if it's free or if they charge of it. There's a password for it they give to you with your room key. Yes they allow pets here it's animal friendly. Yes they do allow smoking but it has to be outside not in the hotel room they will charge you a cleaning fee. No there's is no nice views just boring views of of the pool and hot tub and all of the other hotel rooms around here. Yes there are places to eat and do near by. Yes I have heard all of the bad reviews of this place of people doing stuff they are not supposed to be doing and the cops don't get called on they don't care about anything here. I do want to say from staying here yeah they don't care about anything just about the money so those bad reviews are right. I wouldn't recommend staying here. read more

To me, 3 stars is satisfactory. Best Western Santee earned a extra star with their customer service. The room i was given was fine. As my family and I were unloading our cars, my son noticed a bee in our room. I saw it, but wanted to keep unloading so we could relax after our long drive to town. My son saw "a bunch of bees" outside. I stepped out and noticed a handful of bees in the sconce by our door. It wasn't enough to scare me but my 21 year old was freaked. The next morning I told the front desk staff. I was assured that their pest control company would be informed. I asked for a new room and was told it would be no problem. The staff member told me to come back down when we were all ready to move to another room. Easy. No skepticism, no questions. I just got what I asked for. Perfect! Note that the parking spots are kinda tight. The rooms were clean. I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about. For the amount of money I paid, I can't complain about what I got. It ain't the Hilton, but it's a decent hotel at a fair price. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before staying here. Does not even deserve 1 star !!! The online photos look nothing like the hotel does at the moment. Granted they are are undergoing some construction. Very false advertisement. During covid times you would think the rooms would be cleaner. The beds were nice and clean , yet. Thank goodness I brought cleaning supplies and lysol with me. Tub was dirty, toilet plumbing kept making loud noises every 30 min or so. The floors got our feet black when we barely walked on them and we wore shoes the whole time or ruined our socks. Huge stain on the floor and curtain as well. Even had to clean my poor dogs paws often due to the grime. No jacuzzi. Parking very limited and difficult. Loud as heck. I would of asked for another room , yet my husband had already unpacked, etc. So we kept the place clean and left it cleaner than we found it. Also I was quoted a totally different price when I called to book the room. The only good thing was the convenient location and friendly check in . WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!! Save your money. This place sucks. Rooms dirty. Smells like cigarette smoke bad. Stains on the floor. No shampoo or conditioner in the sower containers. Manager not willing to work with us on anything. His response to the cigarette smell was to use some room spray or leave the windows open. He also promised we wouldn't be charged the $200 smoking cleaning fee. Filthy floors around the beds and underneath furniture. Parking stalls so small and narrow your guaranteed to get some door dings. Hope this helps someone from making the same mistake we did. read more

Worst experience ever we stayed here 8 nights and we respected there no smoking policy to the fullest. We smoked outside every night . And when we checked out today we were charged $150 for smoking in room, they said that 3 people went in and all said it smelled. It is all bullshit we never once lit up in the room. It must be because we are Latinos in this racist city of klantee. We stayed here with our 2 cats and paid the pet fee of $150 no problem my 2 cats have really bad asthma and require there inhaler every day we don't even smoke if front of them at the house I don't even spray air fresheners because of the asthma. So I would be crazy to smoke in inside that little room with them. Don't stay here! Look at there other reviews not just mine. read more

The beds are uncomfortable and heaven forbid your partner moves your getting tossed all over the place. TV sound went way high then way low. AC didn't do much good at all. Very disappointed, I rented the hotel and the toilet was not working, I called, they sent Maintanance and was still not fixed. I really had a very bad experience to this hotel I spend all night with my family with out toilet.
