Unfortunately, coming here has become an annual visit. This morning was a very good friends 94-year-old father's funeral. The chapel was clean, simple and well managed. My mother had a prepaid package with Beth Israel Memorial Chapel Delray Beach. When she passed her remains had to be transported from NYC to Delray, which Beth Israel Chapel promised to handle. I asked them the price for transport from NYC twice: - Once before her death the office told me about $500. - On the day of her death the office told me about $1900 The actual bill was for $2950. I think this was a underhanded and deceitful. They gave me 2 low estimates then a very high bill in the end when it was too late to change. Had I know the actual costs, I would have had an other company handle it at a more competitive price. Due to their manipulations I was stuck. read more

We were referred there after my husband's sudden death while on vacation in West Palm Beach. The funeral director who took care of us seemed ok. He called my daughter the next week and said he was over night mailing death certificates. Then 3 days later I received a message to pick them up. We were in MA. I called and the person answering the phone was not helpful but said the funeral director was no longer there. Apparently he was terminated. Finally they said the certificates were mailed with his remains again over night. They didn't arrive for 2 more days. And the director I spoke with said I would get postage, $145 credited. It is now a month later and this has not happened. Yesterday I received the lucite candle holder only it was for a Christian woman. Again on calling I felt like I was bothering the woman answering the phone. She did call back and say a new one was ordered and to discard the one I received. Since they cost $299 I thought this unbelievable and also another grieving family did not receive theirs. I would not recommend Beth Israel read more

I just wanted to note how much I appreciated working with Funeral Director John Brooks during this confusing time getting my father's body from the nearby hospital and eventually having his remains cremated and the ashes disposed of. Beth Israel Memorial Chapels came highly recommended but John went above and beyond in helping me through the process of getting enough death certificates and helping me with everything else. He was always available and he was consistently on time with all of his promises of delivery. I called him this week to let him know that I received the original death certificates last week and to thank him again for all his help, advice, and kindness. If I lived in Florida, I would have certainly bought him a drink! read more

I cannot say enough negative things about my experience with the staff of this chapel on the morning of my father's funeral. They were pushy and not receptive to how the adult children and grandchildren wished to approach those there to mourn with us prior to the service. Things were no better at the gravesite. It seemed to me that they needed their limos back for their next funeral, why else would they rush me to the car and try to stop me from hugging family members? I also do not have positive things to say about the rabbi's interactions with the family when he was giving out the Israeli soil. His approach was less than comforting, but rather brisk and chastising. If I could give this experience zero starts, I would. read more

My mom passed a few days ago and she lived in Boynton Beach and the temple was very close to her house and my mom's husband arranged the service. It was very nice, and the Rabbi Jonathan Kaplan did a great job and spoke very nicely, and we liked that we could Zoom people into the service. The Rabbi didn't know my mom but seemed to speak from the heart. So why two stars when we all went to the cemetery, we had about a 15-minute service which again was great, and we placed dirt on mom's casket and the Rabbi explained the significance of that. The Rabbi did tell us we needed to hurry because they were bringing in the heavy equipment to finish the burial process and the rabbi than started speaking with the person who ran the cemetery that he has two more tomorrow and will see him shortly. First you should never rush a family when they just lost someone, and I have no problems with you mentioning that you had two more services the next day but do it a little further away from the family so everyone doesn't hear. It just seemed very cold after having a very nice service. read more

Unfortunately we have had to use Beth Israel too much in recent past. Earlier this week we were there and met with Carole. She is amazing. She treated us as if we were her family. Great personality and she helped us so much during, what is at best, trying times. I have never recommended a pre-need counselor but the time has come. He answered all our questions, took the time to explain every option we had, and assisted us in making some very, very important decisions. Oh My! What a place! Five stars are not enough! My dear cousin passed away some time back in 2016 and was cremated. His cremains were with his widow and she wanted them buried. Because my cousin was a veteran he was entitled to burial at the South Florida National Cemetery. I called Beth Israel because they had facilitated the cremation. That call led to an appointment with Kenneth M. Kay, Chapel Manager and Funeral Director. What a mensch! Truly. It felt like I had run into an old and dear friend. He was kind, gentle, warm, and most of all effective! Within less than a week, my cousin was laid to rest with full military honors! Ken's knowledge of "the system" and skill in managing it, was so important. My cousin was 99 when he passed. His widow is 95. To see the service today, flag folding by uniformed Army officers, Taps played. Oh my! Thank you Ken! Your kindness, your knowledge and your ability to be a friend to the family when you stood to make not a penny off of this ceremony, speaks volumes about you and your funeral home. I cannot say enough positive things about these people. I am a young adult recently widowed under tragic circumstances, and left with a small child with multiple disabilities. I went to several funeral homes in the area, explained my situation, and was treated with indifference, but from the first moment I walked in, I felt a sense of compassion from everyone who worked there. I was very impressed with the service and integrity of Beth Israel Memorial Chapel. As the other reviewers have noted, it's never a good situation to deal with a funeral home. We used Beth Israel for my Dad five years ago, so it made sense to call them for my Mom. There was never any pressure to spend more money then we originally budgeted. In addition, they promptly refunded us for all the services we signed up for but ultimately didn't want. They addressed everything in a prompt and professional manner and were extremely proactive in their communication. I was impressed how my primary contact handed work off to colleague when he knew he would not be in the office on a Saturday and to address an urgent need we had to schedule our service at a very busy Veterans cemetery. Last week I lost my sweet father and in such a time of sorrow, I realized how important it is to find a Memorial Chapel that provides a lovely service in a peaceful, reverent atmosphere with a staff who go to great lengths to help ease the loss when saying goodbye to someone so dear.  Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, Florida, is just such a place.  They employ a staff who show tremendous compassion and are there every step of the way to help you and your family.  I could not adequately articulate what incredible people they are, or how effectively they guided us through each aspect of the process and assisted everyone from my 90 year old mother to my niece, making sure we all felt welcomed and heard.  The services were exceptional.  The facility itself exudes a calm and depth of respect that allowed us to express our sentiments, have privacy to say goodbye to my Dad and experience the most beautiful service I've ever attended.  Everyone from Ken who originally spoke to my sister; to John who met our whole family; the wonderful Rabbi who, though this is his second career, has definitely found his calling; to the limo driver who truly went above and beyond the call of duty; and Sue in the office who allowed me to turn my mother's loss of her 68 year marriage into a memory she'll treasure forever.
