This shop not only completed the repair, but they went beyond the basic repair, matched up the metal rings to make the bag look more polished than it was when I first bought it, and sewed unobtrusive black leather patches over the canvas around the rings to make sure that the rings wouldn't tear through the canvas again. Some women have collections of purses in different sizes and colors that they accessorize daily. I don't. I seek out and acquire one sturdy but lightweight black fabric purse (with multiple pockets and compartments that can keep me organized) that I use all the time except for very dressy occasions, and generally, I use that bag for years until it's no longer usable. I set up the bag so that each pocket or compartment holds very specific items, and I become very accustomed to how it's set up. I hate having to change bags. This shop understood exactly what I needed, and went above and beyond. The next time I need that kind of repair, or any alterations, I'm coming back to this shop. I was all set to give Hem Over Heels a good review based on the quality of their work even they are pretty pricey. But I had a bad experience when I picked up my suit after it was tailored, and their poor customer service and attitude has resulted in this low evaluation. My initial visit to have the suit measured went well. I didn't have to make an appointment, and everyone was pleasant and professional. The suit needed a fair amount of tailoring in both the jacket and the pants. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the turnaround time would be less than one week. At $300, the price seemed quite high though. It was about 3 times what a department store would charge if I purchased a new suit that needed tailoring. But I figured I could avoid the cost of buying a new suit and Hem Over Heels was a local, dedicated tailor (who also sharpens knives & fixes shoes!), so I decided to proceed with having them do the work. When I picked up the suit, the tailoring appeared to be well done. I asked about the length of the jacket, which had not been shortened, and the seamstress said that it would look better if it were shorter. She pinned it up and it definitely looked much better. That additional work would cost almost $100 more. Yikes! I asked if there was any sort of discount available, and Josh, the owner, said we could get 10% discount if we had paid upfront, which I hadn't done because he never mentioned the discount at the time I dropped off the suit. The 10% discount could only be applied to the additional $100 charge to shorten the jacket. I am not at all happy with how Josh and his staff treat their customers. Not only did they not suggest that the jacket be shortened at the time of my fitting, Josh said I was solely responsible for telling them what I wanted to be adjusted on the suit. In other words, they are just order takers and don't ask about any alterations beyond what the customer requests. Aren't they supposed to be the tailoring experts? Don't they add any value to the relationship with the customer? Josh became quite argumentative and insisted that I should have told him everything I wanted adjusted on the suit rather than working with me and offering suggestion on what to alter to make the suit fit best. And why didn't they offer the discount during my first visit when I initially said the price was very high? They didn't offer me the opportunity to pay upfront and obtain the discount. Hem Over Heels needs to learn to help customers and be professionals. They'velost a customer (and hopefully other potential customers who read this) because they don't care about customer satisfaction and service. We originally had her dress altered at another location (that came highly recommended by the bridal salon) which completely did a botched job. After two months with another seamstress, we were left with such a hack job on the sleeves, along with a disastrous job on the hem and bustle. I went to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed for a wedding. Thank goodness I went a month ahead of the event date because they messed up the first hem which took a week and longer because they got my phone number on file wrong and never notified me that the work was done. When I went to pick it up they messed it up and didn't take it all the way in. When I went back for the second fitting everything worked out until it was time to check out. When I initially dropped off the dress I paid for the services with the discount code they offered on their website but when I checked out, Josh let me know I didn't pay for it yet and i will need to pay full price and they couldn't accept my discount code anymore (which you have to take a five minute quiz for btw) because I had to have it paid for it when I dropped it off... I explained to him that i did exactly that and the person checking me out probably messed it up because I did see a pending charge on my card as I walked out. I even showed him a screenshot dating back to the drop off date Feb 26, 2025 of the coupon code from their website and he said it's too bad I should've read the instructions on the website... somehow it was my fault for doing exactly what they posted and what's worse is they messed up multiple times and had horrible service and couldn't even do the job right in the first place and he dared to criticize me to read correctly. Overall definitely not worth the experience and insult and on top of that a $200 bill. If you choose to patronize this store after reading my review, then you accept the treatment from the owner, Josh, which I'm here to caution you against. I was uncertain where to take my shoe for repair, so I searched online and noted two nearby shoe repair shops in Boynton Beach. I read mixed reviews about Hem Over Heels, but since I needed a simple fix, I opted for the closest option. This turned out to be a HUGE mistake. A particularly negative review I had read mentioned that upon showing her boot to the owner, he proceeded to tear off the sole after suggesting she needed new soles, despite her not requesting this service. This is relevant because I faced a similar situation. I've never experienced such appalling service in retail before. Josh refused to simply fix this ONE shoe I brought in. He insisted that the appearance of the shoe I brought in indicated the other would require the same repair. Despite my objections, he would not proceed with the repair unless I brought the other shoe in for him to work on both shoes! The one at home is perfectly fine. When I got home I even tugged on the strap where the other one was broken and it was fine. Furthermore, he began to pull at another area of the shoe presumably to demonstrate that it would also break soon. When I saw him start to tug on the part that wasn't broken, I remembered the review where he pulled apart the sole on her boot without permission soI grabbed my shoe from him and said don't pull on that strap! He walked to the back angry and gave me to a nice girl that was in the front. I told the girl there is no way I would do business with this man regarding how he spoke to me and for his refusal to fix the one shoe that was broken. I yelled toward the back of the shop where he was after running away from me, "I will never give you my business and I will definitely be writing a horrible review so others are warned of your atrocious treatment to customers." As I was storming out of the store he screamed I don't want your business anyway! I left there in disbelief! I still had the address of the other shoe repair so only 2 miles down the road at Military and Woolbright, Boynton Shoe Repair 3837 W Woolbright Rd., Boynton Beach. I brought my business elsewhere to a very nice man who was happy to fix my just ONE shoe. If and when the other shoe breaks the same way,that will be MY problem to get that one fixed....certainly not the decision of Josh. I, personally, have a retail store in Livingston, NJ for the last 35 years. If I treated my customers like that, I would have no business. I hope his actions put him out of business. Josh seems to always make a comment after reading every review. I did the same review on google and he ranted about my review. I am sure he will do it again even though I requested him to keep his comments to himself. What I have written is exactly the truth. Don't use this shop unless you want this kind of treatment. My next review is going to the Better Business Bureau. Whenever I mention my experience to a friend they tell me they have been there and will never go back because of THEIR treatment.
