When my wife and I decided to pre-plan our funerals, we attended a seminar conducted by Beth Israel and were very impressed. We made an appointment to speak with the representative named Jacqueline Schuller. We spoke with her and she laid out what would be required. My wife and I had a choice of a funeral here in Florida or having the funeral by north and Jacqueline laid out the costs for both. We opted for going back north. She gave us all the information we needed to make an intelligent choice; what was best with us personally considering all aspects of what would be entailed. After some delays which were cause by family circumstances, (she kept in touch throughout the delays) we were able to meet with Jackie and complete the agreement. Jackie laid out all the prices, what we would be included in our costs. There was no pressure, no incidents of trying to sell us more than we wanted. She listened to our wants and needs and presented us with just what we wanted. Jackie is a perfect person for her position. She is professional, and knowledgeable about everything involved with the pre-planning, giving us pointers on what we should be looking for and what we did and didn't need based on our discussions. She is also very personable and made us feel completely comfortable. She made the "purchase" easy and something that made an unavoidable discussion a lot easier to take. I just wanted to note how much I appreciated working with Funeral Director John Brooks during this confusing time getting my father's body from the nearby hospital and eventually having his remains cremated and the ashes disposed of. Beth Israel Memorial Chapels came highly recommended but John went above and beyond in helping me through the process of getting enough death certificates and helping me with everything else. He was always available and he was consistently on time with all of his promises of delivery. I called him this week to let him know that I received the original death certificates last week and to thank him again for all his help, advice, and kindness. If I lived in Florida, I would have certainly bought him a drink! read more

Unfortunately, both my Parents went through here recently. Everything seemed to go fine with my Mom. My father passed after, and I received multiple assurances his death was reported to SSA. Even after receiving notices by mail a month later, suggesting it wasn't, I was told it was definitely reported. For sure. Two months later I called social security and his death was in fact never reported. This sprialed into issues with the estate bank account and delays, as long as 180 days which likely may significantly delay probate issues. I wasted many hours of my time back and forth with SSA and Chase, being told different and contradictory things by each. This was entirely avoidable and caused by this funeral home's mistake. They did not offer to refund a single penny when I asked and stated I did not get the service I paid for. They said this happens 1 in 1500. Even if so, signs were there, and assuring me it's impossible was inexcusable.... read more
