I was very disappointed with this animal care business. Their staff and treatments may be great, but we didn't get that far. Today I called for an acupuncture appointment for my cat, to be told that she needed to be seen by their vet first. We had just been to a new vet a few days ago, to the tune of $500. So I asked if this place could just use those records. No, they couldn't. That meant a superfluous vet visit for another $100+ and then acupuncture for $200. Maybe other pet parents around here haven't felt the bite of inflation, but we have! All this was not doable, or even reasonable since we already have a vet, but most of all I was sad for my cat. read more

My 7 year old pug Tyler was recently diagnosed with cervical intervertebral degenerative disc disease and herniated discs between C5-6 and C6-7. When we were facing a 5-7k surgery we couldn't possibly afford, we were desperate to try anything. I was naive to think my energetic mini-dachshund Thor wouldn't suffer because we took every precaution to protect my darling's back, but it's in their genes. I highly recommend Beth Schneider as a Pet Acupuncturist. When our Vet recommended Beth to help with our 13 year dog Jack's arthritis, we didn't know what to expect. But we decided to give it a try since Jack had been limping badly and was having trouble walking; it was hard seeing him off-kilter and uncomfortable. My sweet, 12-year-old Pug Jack suddenly lost control of his back legs earlier this year. It happened very fast. His condition was so bad, I feared for the worst. Beth is amazing. We started seeing Beth over four years ago when our mastiff/pitt mix, Simon, got very sick. The vet we took him to, after extensive and expensive testing, diagnosed him with lymphoma, and told us he had six months left to live. At the same time, he was also having trouble walking from a torn cruciate ligament. We decided to take him for acupuncture to help ease his pain, and to make him more comfortable. Beth treated both his knee, and his digestion issues with acupuncture and herbs. She also suggested we try him on a gluten free diet, that he was possibly having an allergic reaction to gluten in his food, and that was what was causing the lymphoma symptoms. Well, after only a few treatments and a diet change, Simon was almost back to normal. He still needed a brace for his knee, but Beth coached us through the entire process of ordering and fitting the brace, and getting Simon used to wearing it. The digestion/lymphoma issue was completely gone. Over the next four years, we would periodically see Beth, when the knee would become painful ,and then again when the ligament in his other knee tore. And finally, late last year, Simon started getting sick again. This time with a brain tumor. that slowly took away his ability to use his rear legs. Beth saw him every week, making him as comfortable as possible until it was time for us to let him go. She was also a tremendous help and support to me and to my husband during this truly difficult time. I should probably have mentioned at the beginning of this review that Simon was a rescue dog, and was severely beaten and abused for the first few months of his life. When we first got him, he was afraid of everyone, and almost didn't get placed because he would hide under chairs and snap at people during adoption events. We worked hard to change this, and eventually he was a very happy dog with many human friends. But he still did not like being in new situations, or in large crowds, or around people he didn't know. But no matter where we saw Beth, when she was at the vet in Montclair, or the Holistic vet on Piedmont Ave, he was always excited to see Beth.
