Our dog is now 16.5 after working with Dr. Brown, Chelsea, and recently Ruby for 7 years (and ongoing). Our dog has had many ups and downs, a couple ER scares, and Dr. Brown has patiently walked me through all of anxieties that come with loving a geriatric soul dog. In my mind, you're paying for time - his time, which he's generous with, and more time with your pet. It will always be worth it. No one picks up the phone during business hours. Called at least 5 times on different days. It is a real struggle to communicate with the vet tech. Common sense is not her strength; for appointments (can only be booked by email), she only gives days of availability not times. She rarely responds to emails in a timely manner, even when it involves medications for example that need to be received in a timely way. It is very stressful playing phone tag with her or reminding her to respond to emails. I really like Dr. Brown, but I cannot imagine how I can rely on this clinic when my pet is having an emergency and there is no one to speak to. Voicemail directs emergencies to a third party. It would be terrible to be unable to reach your veterinarians during an emergency. Their physical address maps to a UPS or a rug store so you can't go in person for an emergency either. read more

Another 5 star visit this week, every visit is 5 stars, and I am sure we had hundreds of visits! My eldest (15 years in October) was suddenly rushed to the ER on 7/17. Doctor Brown immediately called me prior to leaving for the ER, he told me where to go. We walked in the er and Dr. Brown called to speak to the ER vet, my eldest has one of the worst cases of IMHA (he is now in remission), and he is only alive because of Dr. Brown. We were diagnosed with pneumonia in the ER. This week we had a follow up with Vesta and as usual they were amazing. Dr. Brown and Chelsea spent so much time with us, they viewed my dog playing at home, in his environment, instead of viewing him in a cold exam room. I cannot believe my good fortune in finding Vesta Vet. I do not have a car, and my dog won't jump up into one. Doctors Brown and Alpern are excellent doctors and great people. Dr. Brown first thoroughly evaluated Sylvie's health; he also performs tests and procedures--normally done at an office--in your home. They also have a clinic on Solano, so they are truly full-service. Sylvie has had two bouts of vestibular disease and also was exhibiting orthopedic pain and a lot of anxiety, as her hearing and sight have declined with age. Dr. Alpern has been using acupuncture and herbs, which clearly have helped a lot, and because Sylvie is 13+, we are giving her Librela, which has resolved her pain. (They are prescribing Librela in only very limited situations.) I am deeply grateful to have their expert assistance, and I am pleased to report that both Sylvie and I are now doing well. read more

I've always been picky when it comes to my dogs especially when it comes to their health. My German shepherd is EXTREMELY weary of people outside of immediate family and especially hates the vet. Then I found Dr. Brown and the rest is history. Echo goes running down the stairs, tail wagging and whining when he sees the vet (usually he has to be muzzled before anyone would go near him). Vesta vet team is awesome! My dog (15 yr old Malinois mix) has severe arthritis in her hips and spine along with a blown cruciatic ligament. As a result of all of this she had a fall at the end April and couldn't stand or walk. She was also having acute pain on and off from her injury. Dr. Brown and Dr. Alpern have been miracle workers! From her first treatment with Dr. Alpern (acupuncturist) I could notice a difference in her ability to walk and stand with my assistance. Her acute pain reduced to almost nothing in the following days. By June (with continued treatment) she was walking unassisted and getting up and down on her own! Please note she has also been receiving physical therapy in order to strengthen her muscles that atrophied from her inability to walk or stand. I can't thank them enough for their love and expert care of my pooch. I always have quick responses to any email or phone call. They are very flexible with their time and I can tell how much they love my dog. I will continue with Vesta Vet for the rest of Indy's life!!! read more

There is no better place to call when your pet needs care! Dr Adam Brown and Chelsea (his assistant) come to your home and treat your pets with compassion, intelligence, and excellent care. Dr Brown seems to have a special connection with animals and they love him. This was very evident when our very large Akbash rescue dog (Max) managed to interrupt Dr Brown's visit with our Lab named Bonnie. Max had a tough start in life and has required much patience and care to get him to trust humans. Even though it's taken 7 years to get him to trust and not be so fearful, I try to avoid involving him with strangers. Yet there was our Max letting Dr Brown look in his ear and actually rested his head on this vet's lap! Miracles do happen! Dr Brown is helping us with Bonnie who has required every test, scan, and specialist at UC Davis to try to get a diagnosis. Getting a biopsy is very risky and long story short we're doing everything we can to maintain her comfort and quality of life. Dr Brown referred us to Davis and is actively involved with her care. He's discussed her case with the Neurology Dept at UCD and had some very legit concerns about her discharge instructions that they gave us. This whole process has been a nightmare and having him on our "team" is quite comforting! I can't end this review without high praise for Dr Brown's wife, Dr Alpern. Our 12 year old Lab (Roo) has mobility issues but still thinks he's a puppy. He obviously has no desire to leave his cushy life anytime soon! After Dr Brown examined our "old puppy" he suggested that we try acupuncture and mentioned that his wife is a large animal vet, and does acupuncture on regular and large sized animals. Lucky for us Dr Alpern is top notch at this treatment and our Roo loves his appointments with her! Initially he had weekly appointments, then bi-monthly, and has been one time a month for quite some time. She prescribed Chinese Herbs that he loves to eat with puréed pumpkin. Best of all he is still mobile! I can't say that he runs around like he did in his younger years (please don't tell him!) but he gets where he needs to go. The improvement is amazing! Our pets are family and getting them the best care is a commitment we made upon adopting them. I can honestly say that the Vesta Veterinarians have helped us keep that promise! read more

She receives exactly the sort of care and handling she requires to have a successful vet visit (sometimes literally in the back of my car) from Dr. Brown--not an easy feat. My last experience taking my dog to the vet didn't go well. My dog doesn't like strangers and really doesn't like them to touch her so the vet had to sedate her so much she couldn't walk to the car after. I couldn't face putting my poor dog through all that trauma again, so I began looking for mobile vets. After reading the reviews here, I decided to go ahead and try Vesta Vet and Dr. Brown. We communicated by email at first, and I arranged to get a mild sedative for my dog from my old vet. Dr. Brown and his tech arrived on time, and have a very calm vibe. After instructing me how to put a cloth muzzle on my dog, they proceeded to try to "make friends". My dog, Shasta, wasn't having it, lol. But, due to their patient and calm vibe, they were able to do what was needed (nail trim, exam, fix ingrown dewclaw) while I held my pooch. This was an incredible improvement over trips to the vet office, Shasta was less stressed out and when it was done, she was home, so she relaxed pretty quickly. We will be seeing Dr. Brown for all our vet needs from now on, and I won't put things off because I'm worried about the trauma to my dog. It might be too much to hope she will come to like him (there are 4 people in her pack, period) but knowing she can get the health care she needs without terrifying her is such a blessing. Our at-home visit from Dr. Brown and Chelsea yesterday was the best vet experience I've ever had! We have a cat with special needs (neurological issues, wonky eyesight, runt of the litter) who completely freaks out when we bring him to the vet. But since I discovered this mobile vet option, and Dr. Brown and Chelsea were so gentle and patient with him, he barely even noticed he was getting checked out. No hissing, clawing, or meltdowns- it was like night and day from what we're used to. Dr. Brown was also very observant and knowledgable about what could possibly be going on with our little guy, took his time to explain everything thoroughly, and came up with a reasonable treatment plan that will hopefully have little side effects. Clearly he knows his stuff. I appreciate when a vet will be straight with you about the situation, without unnecessarily worrying you or over-prescribing/over-ordering tests. I also want to mention the convenience factor of not having to leave your home (they even had the medication we needed on hand), and that we felt very safe with regards to Covid precautions. Dr. Brown and Chelsea are going the extra mile by visiting homes in the middle of a pandemic- clearly Vesta's priority is your pet's comfort and quality of life. Lastly, we couldn't believe how reasonable the pricing was. If you're looking for great care (especially if car rides and busy vet offices are hard on your pet), absolutely schedule a home visit with Vesta Veterinary! He talked me through treatment options and what I could expect over time in terms of how her condition would probably progress. After two years and thousands of dollars with local vet who merely treated the symptoms and the problem was never resolved it was like a breath of fresh air to meet Dr Brown and Chelsea. They are truly compassionate yet professional and very well versed in their craft. They were at our home for about one hour taking the time to patiently educate us on the chronic ear infection including the structure of the ear and how to properly clean it. They also explained to us their philosophy on limited use of medications and why. I can only say how happy I am to have found a vet who is more focused on helping us take good care of our animals as opposed to so many of the newer vets whose main focus seems to be running up the bill. We had an in home visit from Vesta Veterinary today to do a check up on our elderly cat. Dr. Brown and his assistant Chelsey were so wonderful. They were kind, patient, and their bedside manner with our beloved Abby was amazing. On a tip from a co worker, we contacted Vesta Veterinary to come to our home. We never knew there was anyone around here that did house calls! The doctor sat with our kitty for quite some time to get to know her and let her relax a little before they did anything.
