I always get the orange chicken fried rice here and it has never disappointed me. The portion sizes are huge here and each combo is enough for two meals. Each combo comes with a free tea (black/green/milk). The service here is quick and straight to the point. I like this place because it is quick and a great value for decent food. I wouldn't say this is the best food I've ever had but I enjoy it as it brings me back to my college days when they used to have a location near UT Dallas years ago. I deducted a star as the restaurant itself had a chemical smell in the dining area, otherwise I recommend getting it to go and enjoying it at home. Parking here should be fairly easy, there is a parking lot in front of it but be careful not to park in front of the business in front of it. Having to eat gluten free, a place like Bethany's (and most every Chinese restaurant) isn't the best option considering my diet. Even when avoiding the usual (gluten-y) suspects like noodles, anything deep fried, wontons, dumplings, egg rolls, etc.-- I have to consider that most marinades and sauces contain gluten: soy sauce, teriyaki, hoisin, XO... ugh! Beef and broccoli is gluten free on its own, but made into a delicious Chinese stir fry with all that fabulous flavor? It's a no-go for me. BUT this really isn't about me and my dietary restrictions, it's about me still loving Bethany Cafe & Boba Tea House despite the fact I can't eat much besides plain white rice. The honor of the #10 spot in my 2025 line up goes to Bethanys! Me and Bethany go waaaaAAAyyyYY back,ok. As a UTA student this was my main diet haha! I remember when this place was dark and poorly light inside, it had a whole shelf of manga books and the ceiling was "caving in" and all the AC/HVAC was expose. It was literally a hole in the wall that has had a massive glow up from what it use to be. I remember when the menu was literally like 80 items (not including the boba and teas) and it was 3 pages long! I remember when it was only that one room and there was only like 3-4 tables, looking back at it those were some good times. I started visiting them since my freshman year at UT Arlington. I love how Bethany has grown to what it is now and I do like how they made the menu more simple compared to what they had back then. I am really happy they have upgraded and taken over the space next to them and love all the seating options!! I also appreciate how they have all of their soy sauce/ sweet and sour sauce in one area and just grab what you need. The décor over the years has become more simple, I like that. I don't like the whole claw machine and video/arcade vibe they are going for in the front desk. I also dont like how they have random keychains for sale or other snacks/sodas for sale, they should just focus on their food and their boba/teas. Now lets talk food/drinks! This is my go to place for boba if I am in the area. I like the options of boba and jellies they have. I always say I am gonna try a new flavor but end up getting Taro (my favorite). In terms of food I usually get the popcorn chicken or general tso chicken. Last time I went I had the sea food combination fried rice (?), I also love their beef noodle soup (if they still have them). I honestly dont think I had anything bad from them these past 17 years! You will see a lot of high school students afterschool hanging out here getting some boba, you will see a surge of the during lunch hours too. Just seems inconvenient, or made me feel that way when wanting a refill. - Large menu, it's a alot... however, everyone should be to find something to their liking. Prices are pretty cheap. - Food, it was okay. 6/10. Large portions but heavy on the fillers rice, noodles, etc. You could probably make two or three meals out of one entree. Taste is so-so, gyudon wasn't bad. Basil chicken was kind of bland. Maybe go for the drinks, but even my friends said their drinks were super sweet. - Staff was okay, 6/10. I've been wanting to try Bethany's because of the popcorn chicken and their take on Chinese food. First off, we went to order our food and had our questions answered as it pertained to certain dishes we weren't sure about, but if you know for sure what you want to order, there is a kiosk you'll see ahead of you as you enter where you can place your order. We got the egg rolls, popcorn chicken (of course), general tso with rice noodles and the honey basil lo mein. To my surprise, a free drink was included and we ordered the Milk Tea that I added boba to for $.50, which was pretty yummy. While waiting, my boyfriend and I walked around and felt like we were in Asia. There's this whole section of $1 mini cakes that I was almost tempted to get, but given the amount of food we ordered, well, I'm gonna have to get that next time. They also have a little display of Sanrio things you can buy as well as a vending machine around the corner. It was a pretty cool vibe while we waited for our food and the staff were nice and friendly. Now to the food, the egg rolls were pretty yummy and light. My bf wasn't a big fan of it. The popcorn chicken was ok, but was super fried and at times was difficult to bite and chew. I recommend drizzling some duck sauce on it before eating. The general tso was good and the rice noodles reminded me of the Filipino dish pancit. My bf chose to add some soy sauce to his for more flavor. And the honey basil lo mein was ok. I used to love eating at Bethany's for the curry lo mein and pork cutlets years ago. It's buzzing especially during the weekdays around lunch time since it's across the street from a high school and down the street from UTA. The food isn't the same, it's either too sweet, too salty, or just plain bland. The portion sizes are large and filling but because of the flavors, it's just not satisfying. The orange chicken tasted more like honey chicken, it was so sweet and the fried rice had no flavor and was dry. The curry lo mein was sweet and honey basil lo mein was bland, both were disappointing and so was the beef fried rice. The chicken leg was over fried and dry. However the sautéed green beans were the best dish of everything we got. They also sell the viral fruit shaped ice cream. But if you're hungry enough - it's the perfect spot. They have great combo deals and with a little fixing up with sauces it's tolerable, plus it's affordable. It's spacious enough now to dine in comfortably. Parking can be difficult because all the traffic but if you wait a moment a spot will open up. The service has always been nice when I've been. read more

I have had this place before and haven't had issues however, I have to report this as it is a health hazard. I doordashed from Bethany's on 04/23/25 and I got the curry popcorn chicken as well as a white mocha boba tea. I almost immediately within 1-2 hours developed a stomach ache that was dull. Later at night time stomach ache and cramps developed to severe with vomiting and diarrhea. The stomach pain got so severe landing me in the ER. I was found to have enterocolitis from this food (this is an infection of the small and large intestines). I'm better now after fluids, antibiotics and pain medications 3 days later, but no one else should have to suffer from this. My husband who had a bite of my food is also having stomach cramps with diarrhea (although not as severe as mine). This is a health hazard and they need to seriously monitor the quality of their food. I'm severely disappointed and hope they do something about their food quality/ care so no one else has to suffer through this, yet alone pay for ER bills. read more

i love getting bethany's to eat after classes. i normally go for beef and broccoli with rice and a thai tea with boba. the broccoli is perfectly cooked, with the right amount of crunch. the beef is well cooked and the sauce is seasoned well, but can be a bit salty so make sure to eat it with the rice. the portions are very big so i can get two meals from one box. this whole meal is about $14, which, in my opinion, is a very good price for high school and college students after a long day. read more

I've been a loyal customer for years and have never had an issue until today. I stopped by with my brother to pick up some ice cream and, as we opened the freezer, the cashier immediately yelled at us to close the door. I was only reaching in to grab what I wanted, so this felt a bit abrupt. He then told us that the fridge was broken which was surprising, as there was no sign indicating that. Unfortunately, the ice cream we purchased melted almost instantly after taking it out of the freezer, which confirms the unit wasn't cooling properly. I'd suggest putting up a clear sign if the freezer isn't working or fixing/replacing the appliance so customers know what to expect. I appreciate this store and hope they can resolve the issue soon. read more

This place has changed, for the worst. To be more direct, the food has changed. They used to have the best curry sauce. The recipe is different, might as well be tomatoe paste with no flavor, spice, or heat. Total dissapointment... Service was quick and friendly. It's been 12 years since I've been back to my old hangout for good boba and Chinese food. I ordered the popcorn chicken half size and a mango dragonfruit refresher. The popcorn chicken was just the way I remembered crunchy outside and moist in the inside. I love that the serve it with a side of red chili powder. Of course I sprinkled on to make mint spicy. The ambiance was cute with a cotton candy machine in full display and a game machine. The sitting area looks bigger as well. The cashier was very nice. The best oyster omlette in DFW!! This is a rare find and when it's done so well, you just have to give a 5 star review. I love how you just order at the window and theu give you a pager that rings when it's ready to pick up. I love it when a boba shop has savory dishes to go with. The Taiwanese oyster omelette is a must. We also got the beef and broccoli with rice and orange chicken. To drink we got a free iced tea, black peach boba tea, and a mango slushie. I expected this place to be good based on the reviews but they must be reviewing the drinks or they have high blood pressure and can't eat food with salt because there is no way. I ordered the honey basil shrimp noodles, chicken katsu ( this was just omelette type egg and two pieces of katsu chicken over rice), beef and broccoli, chicken noodle soup and passion fruit lemonade. The only thing anyone liked was the passion fruit lemonade. The Honey basil noodles were ok after adding other spices, soy sauce and sirracha, but the fact I have to add seasoning to all the dishes makes this place a deal breaker to me. I was most shocked at the chicken noodle soup. The broth tasted like straight hot water. I was so disappointed in this soup.
