This place is the REAL DEAL!! Fantastic Ethiopian cuisine. My wife, son, daughter-in-law, and I had dinner there, and we all shared a double vegetarian sampler, which was more than enough for all four of us. For dessert, we shared a homemade baklava, which was delicious, accompanied by fresh, roasted Ethiopian coffee that was ground and brewed right there, and served with the traditional incense. A fantastic, quiet, small eatery sandwiched between two of America's goliath fast food chain franchises, with a Subway on the left and McDonald's on the right. If you are looking for one of the best deals on truly authentic Ethiopian food in the Washington, DC Metro Area, you MUST check this place out. It's a real gem.

Coffee Ceremony spot

Great lil place. Take out was fast and delicious. Staff were kind and friendly. Coffee beans to go - will be getting some soon. One interesting item - they will do an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony for about 20 bucks. Never seen that on a menu - definitely worth investigating.

Vegetarian Combo

Greens & Teff closed, so I tried Bethel Cafe for lunch. I had the vegetarian combo which was tasty, filling, and I asked them to prepare it mild without chili's or spicy sauce. The red Misir Wot stew was a bit spicy for my taste, but the other two wot stews were mild, and if you ask they can substitute out the spicy wot for a mild wot. The carrots and potatoes, cabbage, and collard greens, were tasty. Good food. Easy to order online, though there is a $1.50 service charge if you do that, but the overall value was reasonable. Friendly staff.

We sat at the bar top and got to watch our barista prepare each drink. She was so nice and knowledgeable about the whole menu and had a lot of information to share, but she also gave my us time to sip our drinks and discuss them amongst ourselves. It was a great balance of being able to have an interactive experience with the barista but also being able to casually enjoy our afternoon espressos quietly with each other. Your final drink of choice is served in a larger size and given to-go, so you can continue having your treat even after the experience wraps up. The drinks themselves were so unique and wildly different from one another. I was initially pretty skeptical about an espresso with lemon and peach but it ended up being my favorite one. My only complaint is their base espresso on it's own was one of the more bitter ones I have tried, but mixed into their drinks it was great. I couldn't recommend this experience more highly. I had such a fun time, no part of it felt rushed, I thoroughly enjoyed every part. They even have the option to make the drinks from the Omakase menu decaf if you're trying to limit your caffeine, which is a really nice touch. I will definitely be back!

The Coffee is Legit & The Name....Say's it All!…read more I stumbled on this to this place while taking a break from work and a walk outside to get some fresh air. It is relatively new and located across the street from the Starbucks here in Virginia Square. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered an amazing iced latte called the 'Three Waves' that have flavors of macadamia nut and hints of coconut & caramel that had my taste buds flying all over the place! I customized it by adding dark chocolate which paired well and heighten the flavor profile. The coffee itself was bold, strong, just like I like it and overall not too sweet. The price point was great too. It was the perfect fix and afternoon boost. The shop is small but has lots of souvenirs and select Hawaiian coffee beans to choose from and take home. The menu is full of coffee, items, smoothies, and variations of coffee drinks that can be prepared cold, frozen or hot.. I left this place buzz and completely satisfied....with a great energy kick to make it through the rest of the day. Thanks, To such a great experience and delicious cup of coffee, I also bought a bag of Kona expresso beans to bring home. I'm so glad this place has opened up here and so close to work. The customer service is excellent and the /barista was very helpful. With such a large menu and many choices, flavors, and combinations to choose..... They were great and helping me navigate the menu and offered up. Excellent suggestions. This place is a huge improvement from the once Dunkin' Donuts store that was located here. Will definitely keep this place on repeat and have to come back to try some of the many other great looking menu items! Two thumbs up & I recommend you make a stop here for a delicious coffee experience.

I fell in love with them while visiting BMore's Cafe Dear Leon and wanted to find a local place offering them...and Yelp led me to Roggenart Bakery. Everything was so fresh and tasty and I now have a new "go to" spot for my breakfast fix. I have raved so much about Roggenart that my friends and colleagues are now ordering. The customer service is excellent. Even though I have used UE for most of my orders, my packaging is always done well. Nothing is squished or dripping. Can you imagine having beet juice everywhere?!? Also, my co-worker has visited to pick up our order and she said it's very clean and smells amazing. Don't hesitate to order. You won't regret it. Happy eating!!!!

About that $23 salad: The portion is a little skeet (that's an STL term - look it up) but the chicken was honestly juicy and flavorful as hell. And, the salad was full of very fresh spinach, and maybe other greens, as well as a good dressing. They provided a healthy amount of shaved Parmesan, which is my favorite. I would definitely order this again if I knew I was going to be around for a while and really wanted a salad. The vibe inside is so cute. This particular location is huge and there are various types of seating available. They have Wi-Fi, which is helpful., and some of their furniture is super comfy. It is the perfect place to connect or reconnect with a friend. I have never been much of a coffee shop, girl, but I could definitely see myself coming here multiple times a week. Service was good. I sat on the booth side by the wall and was not near an outlet. It was quite chilly even though it wasn't sweltering outside, so I'm glad I brought a jean jacket. Music was playing but it wasn't too loud. Stayed for a couple of hours. There was plenty of foot traffic but not enough to be disruptive. There was one restroom, which was clean. The baristas were pleasant as they helped other customers. I was going to order seltzer water, but they had it on tap (along with plain water) so it was free. I also ordered an iced tea to support the establishment. It was refreshing and I didn't even add anything to make it sweet. I would return here to work if I needed to, especially because I like the area (even though parking is mostly paid street spots), but plan on continuing my quest for the perfect coffee shop/remote work vibe.
