Here's to my favorite coffee place in Arlington. Simona has been my weekend getaway spot for years. It is where I have spent most of my Sundays in the last couple of years. Delicious coffee, delicious cookies and some really creative and refreshing drinks as well. My most ordered things probably are the hibiscus tea, iced lattes with almond/oat milk and their cookies. Occasionally I have gotten breakfast and sandwiches from here. Everything simple yet so different than everywhere else. It is very hard to describe the difference. The cafe is small, cozy and located in a corner of Clarendon. The baristas are lovely and the service is top notch. I may be biased but it is hard to dislike anything about this place. It is one of my happy places. 5/5 must go there! read more

While the location offers convenient outdoor seating and a single restroom for guests, my overall experience did not meet expectations. There was only one employee preparing drinks, and despite there being no line ahead of me, my beverage took approximately 25 minutes to be made. The other staff members appeared to be occupied with other tasks, though I cannot speak to their responsibilities. As for the coffee itself, the espresso was not to my personal taste. While I still drank it, the combination of the wait time and overall experience means I will not be returning. read more

Simona Day is a really cute coffee spot with great vibes. It seems like a good place to do work or just hang out for a bit. The inside is pretty small though, so it can be hard to find a seat if it's busy. The matcha was actually really good, definitely one of the better cups I've had from coffee shops I've tried around the area. Overall, it's a nice spot where you can get work done and the atmosphere is cute. For some reason though, it hasn't really become one of my go-to places. Still solid and worth checking out if you're nearby. If you need good wifi then maybe go somewhere else. It was too slow for me. read more

The food was very very meh for the price you pay. It was dried out and tasted old. The cafe itself is cute, but not worth bad product.

Simona has been my favorite coffee shop for years, and in my opinion, it's one of the best cafés in Arlington. I absolutely love the atmosphere, the service, and everything on the menu. They've built an amazing community around the café, and there are always great events happening. If I had one piece of feedback, it would be consistency. I've noticed that during busy hours, when one of the more experienced baristas is working, the coffee is always excellent. During quieter hours, though, the quality can vary depending on who's making it. I completely understand that every barista has a different level of experience, though I'd love to see a more consistent cup of coffee. The other thing is the Wi-Fi. I'm not sure why, but it often becomes unreliable, especially when sitting outside, which can make it difficult to work. That said, these are really MINOR things. I love Simona, and I'll happily keep coming back. read more

I just recently went to an event hosted at Simona Cafe and it was such a delight. Although it's in Arlington, there is a lot of street parking both in front of the cafe and in rhe surrounding neighborhoods. My friend and I ordered off the summer menu and both got the iced strawberry lavender matcha. It was made to perfection and the staff were so sweet and helpful. Their lattes are consistently excellent--smooth, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. I love trying the seasonal lattes! My go to is their vanilla latte though (with almond milk). The café itself is small, but cozy, and there is an outdoor space. It has a warm, inviting vibe that makes it perfect for a quick stop, remote working, or a relaxed meet-up. Service is friendly and efficient, which I always appreciate when I'm on the go. Time to update my review! Simona has worked its way up to 5 stars, and is my favorite cafe in Courthouse, perhaps Arlington. Their breakfast sandwiches and scones are excellent, their seasonal coffee flavors are delicious (current fave is baklava syrup), and the latte art is always gorgeous. There isn't a ton of seating, but the covered patio is very cozy. I'd recommend arriving on the earlier side if you'd like to grab a seat. Pretty typical hippie/yuppie cafe with everyone on their lap tops. Good choice of coffees and croissants. In the morning there are interest breakfast options. We enjoyed Brie and ham baguette and the scone was also top notch. Inside and outside seats located just off main drag. Parking limited outside but some street parking not far away. Despite the limited amd crowded space at this location, Simona is a good neighborhood coffee shop and cafe. The parking area is limited too, unfortunately. The interior and exterior are quaint and modern. Pretty clean setting is a nice relief. This store has gone thru various reiterations and ownerships, and its popular again. So, its pretty crowded during summer weekends. The menu for coffee is varied, and local Rare Bird Roaster coffee beans are used here. There are plenty of staff behind the bar, and the baristas are professional, courteous and polite. My egg and avocado sandwich is on point, too. BTW, if you are seated outside, be aware of the two blaring fans directly in front of you. read more

I've returned to Simona a couple times in the past few months and had way better experiences. I enjoyed checking out their seasonal menu but also found their cappuccino to be really solid. I'm also into their new book club / craft night / etc concepts -- I look forward to checking them out. Seems like a great way to cultivate the cafe as a local community space. There are heat lamps in some of the outside seating space, but I'd still bundle up if you're seated out there in the winter. I personally prefer sitting inside, but it can be hard to snag a seat during busy hours. read more

A D O R A B L E. Is the only way to describe this spot. Came here twice during my stay next door because the vibe is cute and the coffee is great. I love the little outdoor patio and the service is so ultra friendly. I didn't get any food here, but everyone's plates looked amazing so definitely something to consider next time. I also liked their matcha, although both my friends asked for their matcha to have no sugar, and they were definitely ... sweet so perhaps they use a pre-mixed matcha? I discovered Simona through the Too Good To Go app a couple of months ago but have been back a few times to visit since then. Their matcha is so delish and their focaccia is delishhhhhh!!! They don't sell it by itself, which is probably a good thing for my waistline. Ha! I recently went for a paint and sip event and had a great time. Ive even discovered other small businesses while visiting on another occasion. Service is always cordial and they stay pretty busy! I can always find a spot to sit even though the seating area is more on the small side. There is seating inside and out. Parking is street. It was just about 8:15 and the customers were trickling in. This location has been on my Go To list! It's a fall, gloomy morning and I thought to myself 'why not? Perfect day for Simona'. No regrets! I had the Wilson (sandwich) and an apricot scone. Honestly everything looked delicious! I plan to return to try their entire menu! You cannot make reservations so come early. I am a morning person (and so is all most of Arlington!). So glad I got here early to snag a seat and place my order. The coffee shop is adorable and I love the vibes here! They have other locations to in DC. Some customers bring their laptops and work here. There's outdoor seating, which I love! Very busy cafe in Arlington with outdoor seating. There were no tables when we arrived on Sunday morning so we were going to take our food to go. It was lucky then that two tables, not together, opened up. We had some breakfast sandwiches on fresh focaccia bread -- scrambled eggs were warm and creamy and covered in melty cheese. Very cute cafe and very crowded because it was one of the first nice days of spring. The outdoor seating space was super nice but not a lot of space. The sandwich was good the focaccia especially well down but wish they seasoned more of the eggs. The thing that really blew me away was the matcha latte. The cherry chocolate scone was fantastic, the texture was flaky and buttery, but it wasn't too dry. It was great paired with the lemon chamomile tea. There's not a lot of seating inside or out and can get quite busy so be prepared to swoop in and grab a table when you can. the outdoor patio space is pretty nice with both the covered and uncovered portion. Great spot! I loved the interior of the place--the green and wooded undertones give the place a nice aesthetic. I came on a cold day to listen in on some Zoom meetings. I had to wait for a table to open up but had a good set up once I got a spot. There was outlet access and wifi which was great. I had two meetings to listen to--both 1 hour 15 min--so I had to leave and find another spot since the wifi was only 2 hours access. The chai was decent and the fancy grilled cheese was a little too oniony for me--but not too bad overall. Finding parking was the biggest inconvenience of my journey here. I stopped here on the way out of DC because it was early, I needed coffee, and I didn't want to have to fight for parking in DC. Since I was leaving I checked along my route and found this spot. This is a small neighborhood coffee shop with friendly baristas, solid baked goods, and top notch beverages that you can tell are made by people who care about them and who know what they're doing. Easy street parking. Seating indoors and out, quick and easy service, super relaxed vibes.
