They sold me a control 4 module that was defective and never worked, and then eventually died, then tried to charge me $300 for a service visit just to tell me the defective piece of equipment that they sold me didn't work anymore, then tried to charge me $1700 for a replacement for a new module. They don't actually do anything, they just up-charge equipment and gouge people on maintenance, and good luck getting a service person out to help you within a week. Absolutely atrocious company. read more

A few years ago hired them (on a coupon deal) to replace some lighting in my home. Recently, one of those lights had a problem, I contacted them. Prompt response. I learn (after 5 Zendesk exchanges), unless you sign a "service agreement" they will not even talk to you. Part of that agreement is a "$175 minimum fee". To service a warranty item? Sometimes company's efforts at providing good customer service backfires and in this case, it did. I still don't know the source of the problem but I will not be using Bethesda Systems to fix it. read more

Bethesda installed my original system about 7 years ago and has been there ever since to help keep the system running. For obvious reasons, during the COVID-19 crisis, my system needed an upgrade. The technician that helped us, Jason Baumann, did an excellent job quickly assessing what we needed, proposing a reasonable upgrade, and completing the work. I engaged Bethesda Systems to complete the installation and programming of a Lutron Radio-R/A switch system. After some difficulty in establishing a sales/service appointment, a sales rep and technician visited my residence. The technician successfully installed a system switch, the sales consultant spent a considerable amount of time to assess the additional programming and component requirements. The sales consultant promised to order additional system replacement parts and to provide a follow-on installation and programming proposal proposal; but, despite repeated inquiries, did not further follow-up. I was compelled to hire another contractor to complete the installation. One year later, In January 2014, I received a bill for the technician services. Discussions with company management did not produce satisfaction. Bethesda Systems generally enjoys a positive company reputation in the Bethesda area. I am displeased and disappointed with this transaction and cannot recommend them to others. read more

Now they want to change for services because we are "out of warranty", but they did not deliver stable capabilities that we signed up for to start with. Stay away!!! read more

Before they touch anything you have already $195.00 bill to pay $130.00 for every hour visit time and $65.00 travel expenses . Hour visit time is the same fee if they are with you for 30 seconds or 60 minutes, fix or no fix anything. Good and easy way to make money!!! Very smart business! I'm glad I hadn't read previous Yelp reviews before deciding to hire Bethesda Systems or this morning I might have missed out on a great customer service experience that has really enriched our home. From start to finish, this was a satisfying transaction in every way. We stopped in their showroom for advice on upgrading our TV system, and Michael provided detailed guidance that gave us confidence. We wound up purchasing from them a 65" Sony TV and a Sonos soundbar (which I'd never heard of). When one expense listed in their proposal (I value their practice of preparing proper, written proposals with all costs broken down) seemed unnecessary, they were willing to negotiate. We then relied on them to install the new system with a wall-mount. Their team of Jason + Sean showed up today as agreed, right on time -- and they could not have been more helpful or professional. We wanted to understand the new purchase (a big deal for us), so they explained exactly what steps they were taking as they went along. When they encountered an unexpected glitch -- like discovering the new TV was not designed to accommodate a 40-yr-old VHS player (yes, we're cinema nuts who still need a VCR for some films) -- they didn't give up but in fact stayed almost two hours extra, determined to get it right. I suspect other companies might have gotten impatient with this and simply told us we were out of luck, but Jason never expressed frustration and finally found a way to get it to work. Plus, they were respectful of our home, wore protective shoe coverings, covered the floor first with blankets to protect the equipment, and brought their own shop-vac to clean up afterwards. Geez, what more could I ask for? I recommend Bethesda Systems highly. read more

I cannot understate how awful they are at their jobs. We have had their system since roughly June 2014 and have had no less than 15 visits due to the system they install completely breaking. The only thing worse than their service (which is truly terrible) is the quality of their work. If you hope to enjoy your television system at all I would urge you to find another service company. read more

I am not sure what kind of job these guys do. I wanted to go to there shop to listen to a pair of speakers that they carry. I called 4 or 5 times to discuss the purchase and every time I got a receptionist who would not connect me to anyone in sales. I was told that no one was available but they would call me back. Hours later no call. The receptionist could not even tell me if I would be able to stop by the shop because she could not guarantee that anyone would be available to let me audition the speakers. This is a really fly by night operation. read more
