Bought a Frigidaire stacking washer/dryer to replace an existing 17 year-old unit. Because I live in a condo, I needed to install a drip pan, which had to be connected to an existing drain pipe and ApplianceLand apparently doesn't handle installation of drip pans. I asked the sales representative and one of their technical experts and they declined. So I had to have Applianceland come out to my home twice - once to remove my existing washer/dryer and another time to install the new one. They insisted that I needed to hire a plumber for the drip pan connection, which I did not. I was able to do the work myself. And I'm not a particularly handy person. I got charged an extra $79 for the additional visit to remove the old washer/dryer so I could then install the drip pan, which wasn't too bad a charge price-wise. But I will say that the process was much more complicated and time consuming and confusing (with their insistence that I needed to hire a plumber) than I anticipated. If you live in a condo or need to replace an existing drip pan, Applianceland won't help, so be prepared for a bit of delay, aggravation and possibly additional cost for two trips. The appliance removal and appliance delivery were uneventful. Both teams (of two) were cordial, professional and worked quickly and carefully. I am very pleased with the delivery service personnel. Very pleased with the care the delivery team took placing the new unit into the drip pan without moving the pan and harming the drain connection. Overall, I recommend Applianceland, but I do also feel a little nickel-and-dimed for a purchase that totals about $1,600. The store representative said that we needed new hoses ($25), electrical cord ($25) and dryer vent ($40), which made sense to me for safety and also for their liability concerns. They don't want to be responsible if an old hose leaks. I get that and have no issue with that (although it wouldn't hurt for them to include those first two items at the price point of the appliance - but I won't quibble.). But, here's the thing: during our delivery today, the installer advised us that our existing dryer vent was clean and in excellent shape, and recommended that we not replace it with new dryer vent. He said the store would refund the price for the dryer vent. I called the store representative later in the day to thank them for their great delivery, and I was told that our refund would be for $20 - as opposed to $40 - because we were still going to be charged for the installation of the dryer vent. I'll admit I was a bit unclear about how that made sense, but I didn't say anything and then, after I hung up, scratched my head on why one would be charged for installation when nothing new was installed. Would they not have hooked up my existing dryer vent as part of their normal installation? Anyway, it's nickel and dime stuff. I expected better on a $1,600 purchase. I'd like to give the store a 3.5 (a 4 or 5 for their fine delivery personnel, and a 3 for the rest), but the extra time and costs dealing with the drip pan, including their insistence that I needed to hire a plumber (this can't be the first time they've faced this issue) and the nonsense with the dryer vent refund, made me round down. UPDATE - it's the next day. ApplianceLand read this review today and called me to apologize about the partial refund for the dryer vent. Apparently their internal computer system splits out the costs for the dryer vent (yesterday ApplianceLand refunded $21.21) and its installation (I suppose it's $23.79) where the customer invoice shows just one price for "replace dryer vent" of $45. Still don't understand why ApplianceLand would even have considered that a customer should be charged for installation in that context (an approach that appears to go out of its way to minimize the customer's refund benefit as opposed to maximizing it - which is why I called it nickel-and-diming), but it is what it is. They agreed to refund the entire $45, which I appreciate and is the right thing to do. read more

I would leave zero stars if I could. ***BUYERS BEWARE*** This store knowingly sold us a brand new top of the line Bosch dishwasher which we later found out (1.8 years into ownership) that the manufacturer did nor provide a standard warranty with this high end model because it is "difficult for the techs to service". This store (Liz, Thomas, etc) lied to us numerous times. The dishwasher ended up throwing an error and cannot make it through a cycle and we purchased it less than 2 years ago. The store is shrugging "there's nothing we can do, too bad for you". We will never shop at this store ever again, and we will definitely place a negative review on Consumer Checkbook and file a report with the Better Business Bureau. Over $1600 down the drain in less than two years. At this rate they expect you to buy a new unit and spend $1600 every 1.8 years on a new dishwasher. How crazy is that? This is such a scam and completely unacceptable. We will be avoiding these companies like the plaque and will advise our friends, neighbors, and family to do the same. Background: We have been ApplianceLand customers since 2002 and have purchased at least two sets of a washer/dryer, a microware and a deepfreeze from them. My wife and I came into the store in mid-July to purchase a refrigerator. We ended up buying a $2500 Bosch along with $130 installation and removal fees and the extended service plan for a total of about $3000. I was transparent with the salesperson that we would be buying the 36 inch refrigerator but that our kitchen doorways were smaller so the doors would need to be removed and reinstalled once the refrigerator was in place. I wanted assurance that this wouldn't be an issue for the installers and if there were additional fees that needed to be paid, I was happy to do so. The salesperson assured me it would be done, and no additional fees would be required. Prior to the delivery, I also removed the doors from the old refrigerator so the installers wouldn't have to waste time with that and could just carry the old refrigerator out. Later that week the installers arrive and immediately start talking about additional charges for having to remove and install the doors (which I was never charged). So, who was lying, the salesperson or the installers? Once they were done, they quickly went over the features of the fridge and then asked me to sign the ApplianceLand get-out-jail-free paperwork that states once they walk out the door, ApplianceLand is no longer responsible for the refrigerator. Looking at the refrigerator, everything looks fine and there are no visible issues. However, I am not an appliance expert, that's why I paid ApplianceLand to deliver and install the refrigerator assuming they would do it in a correct and professional manner. I even tipped the installers. No good deed goes unpunished. A few days go by, and my wife notices there is frost building up in the freezer drawer. After getting down on our hands and knees and looking under the fridge, we realize the freezer drawer is not closing flush with the freezer cabinet. I contacted the salesperson and described the issue, and he suggested that maybe we have the freezer turned down too cold. I said "no", there's a visible gap between the freezer door and the freezer. He says I'll have to contact Bosch. Long story short, it takes two months to get an appointment with Bosch. They show up in early September and we describe the issue and the technician asks who installed the refrigerator. ApplianceLand, we said. After about 20 minutes, he has the freezer drawer adjusted and it now properly closes. So, my question is, are the ApplianceLand installers unqualified or lazy... or perhaps both? In any event, the whole experience has left us extremely disappointed with the services provided by ApplianceLand and their lack of professionalism. This will be the last time we set foot in ApplianceLand. I would also suggest to ApplianceLand management that they should get their salespeople and installers in the same room and coordinate on what lies that they are telling the customers. These folks have been great for me as I live in an older renovated house with weird spaces that I have to squeeze my appliances into. They replaced my stacked washer and dryer when that died and also my garbage disposal. It would have been a total disaster if I'd tried to go to a big home improvement store and get my own replacements. The people at Applianceland are very good about consulting with you to find out what kinds of hookups you have (and therefore what models you can actually install) as well as what will fit in your space, so you don't end up buying something you can't actually use. Their installation services are pretty reasonably priced. They do not try to scam or upsell you. They just help you find what you need and get it installed where you live. read more

I bought an expensive dishwasher and it was delivered damaged. Applianceland has taken no responsibility for it. When the GE repairman came out the second time to repair it, they found an additional problem and now the dishwasher is completely broken and won't be able to be repaired for an additional 2-3 weeks. I have had to leave work 3 separate times now and there will be a 4th and I have a non-working brand new dishwasher. I have called Applianceland several times with no response. Apparently they sold me a lemon and refuse to take any responsibility despite taking my money and causing me to lose money by not working. Be very careful, they will sell you a non-functional appliance and not assist you in getting it repaired in a timely manner. But they will very quickly take your money. read more

I've bought many appliances from ApplianceLand over the years with no issues, until my latest purchase. I bought a Maytag Pet PetPro washer and dryer in Summer 2023. The purchase was fine, and I added an extended warranty for both. First delivery attempt failed as they made a mistake and brought a white washer and black dryer, despite purchasing both in black and it being clearly noted on the order. Second delivery was a few days later and went fine. In November 2024, the washing machine starts to have issues. Apparently, this is well known for this model and is related to the sensor. This is where the real troubles begin. I got the runaround from Allstate, the extended warranty company. We could not get proper service, which is not ApplianceLand's fault, but their handling of the issue was dreadful. In January 2025, I finally called ApplianceLand's corporate office to intervene. In the last exchange, they said that Allstate said they fixed the issue, which was a blatant lie. I had to go through multiple women who work at the corporate office at ApplianceLand, and each time I would have to tell the entire story, because one did not communicate to the other. Frustrating. The last woman I spoke with was very nasty, and I told her I wanted a refund on the extended warranty. She said someone from the Rockville location would call to get my credit card info to credit me for the extended warranties on both machines and then hung up on me. I never got a call. Shameful behavior and they will never get my money again. I have told others my story and now I am telling anyone who reads this review. Sadly, like so many things these days, customer service has gone downhill. You might as well just go to a big box store. read more

We used Applianceland in Beltsville, and in the past have had good experiences. However, we recently purchased a GE range and when it was delivered we discovered a defect, which the delivery fellows agreed with: the lower drawer was crooked, giving an unpleasant wonky look to the range. Called the store and Dennis was dismissive and unhelpful - referred me to GE. GE fellow came out and said it was a defect and not repairable. We went back to the store and again hit a brick wall with getting some appropriate adjustment for this. We appear to be stuck with this range. My husband has jury-rigged the drawer so it doesn't look as bad but the defect is there and it is unclear whether our jury-rigged fix will last. Moral of this story: if at all possible don't let an Applianceland appliance into your house until you get a good look at it. Once it is in the house, no one wants to deal with it. GE was also unwilling to do anything. I found this whole unproductive process hard to believe. We will avoid this company in the future. read more

We set on a delivery/ installation date, which they did miss. But someone from the store called us the day before to let us know and setup a time for the next day. The second time, they were promptly on time and did the setup in short order. They even did a good job testing out the washer and dryer and took away the old units. Bought KitchenAid refrigerator, microwave & dishwasher from ApplianceLand for apprx $5,700. (2) serious issues that Salesperson Kuert Straubinger, Brooke (Assist. General Mgr.), and Chris Patane (General Mgr.) refuse to remedy. BUYERS BEWARE!! Even when our remedies are simple & realistic, ApplianceLand refuses to correct and has abandoned us after the sale & delivery; see below. We are forced to file complaint with BBB & MC Consumer Protection to get remedied. Issue #1: 12/15/21 - Relocation of our Existing Refrigerator: a. Per agreement & verbal agreement, our fully operational existing side-by-side kitchen refrigerator was relocated by "their" installers to our bsmt, however after they plugged it in, our refrigerator has failed to work. The lights come on, however it doesn't cool & you don't hear compressor running. Installers confirmed refrig. was working prior to their move. b. While moving refrigerator through bsmt door, they ripped off our screen door latch on the door jamb & my husband had to re-drill & re-install. Remedy Requested: We would like this refrig repaired or replaced immediately. Issue #2: 12/15/21 - Newly Delivered Refrigerator: a. Right door consistently squeaks. b. Ice maker occasionally drops ice out of shoot on its own. c. Top inside corners of both doors have dents in them. d. Top left door insulation is exposed around door frame. e. Installers did not fully remove plastic wrap from around door edge & it appears will require special tool to remove. Installer tried to remove some with carpet knife, but was afraid he would scratch door if removed remaining plastic. Remedy Requested: We expect the refrigerator to be replaced with a new one. This appears to be a Lemon & we don't want future issues. We do not want replacement doors as they recommended, since "their" installers informed us that the doors are factory fitted & once you taken off and re-installed, the seal never fits back correctly. read more

Bosch washer broke down and since the old washer and dryer were dedicated and the old set was 10-years-old, was told in other stores that we would need a new washer-dryer combo. Kuert did the research and found out that the new Bosch washer would work with the old dryer. Saved us a ton of money. Other stores said combining the new with the old wouldn't work but they didn't do the research. He worked with Dennis at the other store and they coordinated the whole thing, including delivery and setup without a hitch. They always go the extra step! Couldn't be more pleased! read more

Website claims that the salespersons are knowledgeable. Well, not so!!!!!! I recently purchased an oven (Kitchen Aid) spending over $1,500.00 at the Rockville location. 90 days later I use the oven self clean feature and it simply does not work!!! And, I do mean that it does nothing!! The self cleaning feature in ovens has been around and working great for 30 years. I went into the store to select an oven and the salesperson could rattle off all kinds of differences between the ovens but failed to mention that one of the ovens I was considering (and ended up purchasing) had this new self clean technology called "AquaLift" Turns out, this new self clean technology is "well-known" in the industry to NOT work. Class-action law suits have been filed against this technology for not doing what it claims to do (CLEAN!!!!). When I called Appliance Land to see if I could upgrade my purchase to an oven without "AquaLift" , the sales person told me he had no idea the oven had this new self cleaning technology. Yet, in the same sentence defended the technology as trying to address the high heat needed in the past to clean ovens. Appliance Land should not be selling products with features that do NOT work!!! Or, at least should be AWARE! I wish I had gone elsewhere and received a heads up regarding this new NON WORKING self cleaning technology. read more

OMG! I bought a speedqueen washer/dryer there which I was told was the most reliable brand. The salesman reassured me that it wouldn't have the 7 year warranty if it wasn't reliable. What he didn't tell me is that it would break down after every wash and that it would take 10 days to get a repairperson to fix it - which would be good for one wash until it broke again. When I phone to see if they could suggest a warranty repair company that was more timely and actually fixed the machine, I was told "that's just our society today, no one wants to work." WTAF? How about standing behind what you sell? I guess no one minds selling garbage these days either. What a joke. BTW - this was after they had to bring 3 washing machines (3 separate appts) to my house because every time they opened the box they found out it was damaged (heaven forbid they check before they bring it out). read more

My husband and I came to Applianceland to purchase a new washer and dryer. We were looking for a mid-range level set and Kuert did a great job of helping us narrow down options. We actually ended up buying a higher end set on our own volition and didn't feel pressured at all. Kuert was very knowledgeable and patient with us, running the numbers multiple times for us to compare. The buying experience overall was pleasant and efficient. I would give 5 stars to the buying experience. What went wrong was the installation... We needed a new dryer vent as ours was the old foil duct hookup that is no longer approved. I wanted it installed correctly (because dryer fires are bad!), so we paid extra for Applianceland to install it. The delivery itself was efficient, however the installation was lackluster. The delivery guys actually almost left before installing the vent (which we paid extra for??) and my husband had to ask them to install it. He said they did it incredibly fast and looking at hook up now, we can see that the foil tape used to affix the duct to the vent is coming off. They did not use the 90 degree elbows (which we had to purchase with the vent kit). Because of this, it's causing the duct itself to start to pull off the wall. Applianceland said we could return the 90 degree elbows if we wanted... but I was under the impression that we were supposed to use the elbows for correct installation. We will have to likely take the duct off the wall and fix duct ourselves and install the 90 degree elbow to take the pressure off the duct. Overall - the buying process was great and I am always happy to support a small business. However the installation process... not great and frustrated that we spent extra for something we'll have to fix ourselves. In the future I do not know that I would use their delivery/install again as the appliances they sell generally require safe installation to use properly (dryers, gas appliances... yikes!) read more

My refrigerator stopped working and the next day I began looking for a new one. Much to my dismay, finding what I wanted was nearly impossible. I visited 5 stores looking for a refrigerator. It quickly became clear that either I would have to buy something I didn't really want or I was going to have to wait weeks and weeks for delivery (and there were no guarantees that delivery dates wouldn't change). One store after another told me, "Sorry, nothing available ". Then I walked into ApplianceLand and I met Liz. There my luck changed. Liz stuck with me...to the bitter end, and helped me find what I wanted. I wanted something very specific. She didn't give up, if one path led to a dead end, she tried something else. Even when I finally purchased a refrigerator and then a few hours later realized I had gotten the wrong size because I measured incorrectly, she happily refunded the purchase and continued looking until she found the correct size for my space. Liz worked so hard and kept saying, "Don't worry honey, we'll find something". She did and delivery will only take a few days! I am so thrilled and so grateful for Liz. Her one goal was to help me. We ordered a refrigerator in October and was supposed to be receiving in less than 3 weeks. Thanks to Appliance Land we spent Thanksgiving Christmas and New Year without a refrigerator. They were using COVID as an excuse. One day when I called them Dan picked up the phone and he was extremely rude. When I wanted to get an ETA Dan's answer was " We dont make refrigerators in the backyard".. He was not even botherd about how we were managing the holidays without a refrigerator .Finally we got tired of waiting and ordered from Lowe's and got the refrigerator next day!!! I was trying to spend my money on a local retailer than a National chain and all what I experienced was disappointment and rude comments by Dan I will never shop at Appliance Land again!! read more

The only positive thing I have to say about this company is that the salesperson that I worked with was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Also, the customer service representative was very kind and followed up to make sure everything was fixed and working properly. The negatives: 1. The delivery system: For the past 30 years, their delivery system is that you are called on the day of delivery between 7-9 AM to find out a 2-4 hour time slot for delivery. This is extremely inconvenient for most because it means you have to take off a day of work because you won't know the delivery time until the day of. Also, the time is inconvenient for those that work the late shift as they likely have just gone to sleep around that time. 2. The people that deliver: They have between 40-60 deliveries PER DAY and therefore hastily install your appliance(s). There also seems to be a lack of training with the delivery men as once I had an appliance hooked up, the delivery men messed up with something for another appliance. In the past 5-8 weeks, I have had to schedule people to come out 5 different times to fix simple errors the previous men made. Most of them, if they need to move stuff around, will not return it to its original place, leaving the mess for me to fix. I wanted to give it a 1 star rating but gave it an extra star for the people that work in the store, and for customer service. I will NOT be using them again, nor do I recommend it. read more

Had to have one before X-mas arrives and after doing our on-line search we ended up at Applianceland in Rockville. had great help from Kuert, they had two units available in stock that we could choose from and we went with a Maytag model. It was delivered within 2 days. Found the tiniest dent on one of the handles when the blue sticker covers were removed after the delivery was made. Called them that night, they took the claim & told us a company that they work with (Via Services) would be contacting us- it could take 10 days to 3 months due to Covid-19 backups and shortages on parts. VIA Services called the following day, had the part in stock, came by the next day and installed for us without a hassle. Very happy with both services. *****Thank you***** read more

My wife purchased a washer from the Appliance Land in Rockville, when the delivery came, they did not wear footies, and they require us to protect the floor. They told me that they had to use the hand truck ( a dolly ) to roll the washer upstairs. We told them it was their responsibility to protect the floors. They disagreed. Ok, we offered them the blankets to protect the floors, then they did not want to do the job anymore! They did not show any positive attitude trying to get the job done. They called the owner of Appliance Land, and said the owner agreed with them not to do the job, until a better and dryer day. My wife and I both work and we took that day off just for getting the delivery, and this was their attitude! Very disappointed. We purchased appliance from them before, and we will NEVER purchase anything from this store every again! On the contrary, we ordered the same appliance from Home Depot. The delivery was very pleasant. With 15 minutes, the job was done. They hooked up and tested the machine for us. We were very happy. After going through a week-long nightmare with Bestbuy, I discovered (re-discovered) Applianceland. We paid for a fridge and waited a week for delivery but the Bestbuy guys took one look and said we had to move the washer and promised to return that day. That was a lie! After many calls and serious aggravation, I started looking elsewhere. Ever live without a refrigerator for a week? An actual human answered the phone at Appianceland in Rockville and was so very helpful in selecting the proper refrigerator promised in 2 days, i.e. Christmas eve..
