I brought in a very expensive down jacket to have the zipper replaced after my dog chewed several of the teeth off. I was VERY surprised, however, when I got the jacket back to see that the bottom of the left side of the NEW zipper is SO deeply buried into the material of the jacket that it is absolutely inaccessible to hook the right half of the zipper onto it at the base! I am puzzled how she could have given this to me, without making any remarks whatsoever, and charging me $22!! But now, after seeing similar issues reported here on YELP but in which customers say she also refused to give refunds for this type of defective work I am quite upset. I left other work there for her to work on before I saw this and now I honestly don't want to go back ... EVER! read more

I've had items damaged here and two instances where I've showed up and my items were either completed in a hackjob manner and ruined, or not completed at all, so I've had to stand in the business and wait for her to start them. Absolutely do not go here. read more

BEWARE!! I would give zero stars if I could. I had taken a pair of dress pants to have hemmed and when I picked them up each leg was a different length. we are talking like 4inches atleast difference! At first the lady didn't want to even fix it, eventually she took them back to correct it and then they were too short all together. I asked her if she would replace them and she said NO!!! I recently visited Beth's Alterations for the first time, as I am fairly new to the area. I had purchased a $83.00 pair of slacks from Macy's store which required alterations around the waist / hip area. In order to do this work properly, the waistband should have been removed, the slacks taken in at the seems prior to the adjusted waistband being sewn back on. This did not happen! Upon picking up my new slacks, I went into the dressing room to try them on. I was EXTREMELY upset when I saw that the waistband had not been taken off at all. It was just cut and made smaller. Even the stitching was terrible. I was so upset, after I changed back into my original clothes, I gave Beth the money I owed and just walked out without saying anything to her. I will not be recommending this business to anyone! read more

Zero. Rude, messy place and messed up my bridesmaid dress. Sewed the jeweled belt on crooked. I had to take it off and redo it myself.

My daughter had Beth do alterations on my granddaughter's dress for our son's wedding. She managed to destroy the $200 dress. Thank God I was able to find someone to fix her mess. I would never recommend this place. I couldn't give a negative or otherwise I would have. read more

I'm really not sure why these other reviews are here... I've taken a wide array of items in for Beth to alter/fix. Pants that needed hemming, sweaters that had small holes, pants my husband ripped the crotch in and the largest most impressive repair was a dress that I had to order from China for my sister's wedding. I gave specific measurements and they sent me a nightmare. I was sure that it was beyond fixing but Beth was (amazingly) able to salvage it!! Quick turn around, reasonable price, and good tailoring. And, unlike some tailors Beth has regular business hours, which is a plus!

Beth turned a beautiful $300 dress into a HACK JOB! When a refund was requested she flat out REFUSED and demanded that it was somehow my fault for the uneven hemming. The lining was 2 inches longer than the dress in some spots, one side was shorter than the other, and there was a 4-inch variance in the skirt length front to back. Outrageously POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will NOT be returning to this store for alterations and would suggest you look elsewhere for quality tailoring. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My mother recommended that I take my wedding dress for alterations by Beth because she was considered "best of the best" in Midland. I live in Ann Arbor and was driving 2 hours each way for these alterations. Every experience I had here was with a condescending tone and disrespect. I am a size 0 and she took in the waist on my dress so that it was so tight I couldn't breathe and it couldn't be zipped. Instead of being apologetic, she only made excuses. This happened 3 MORE TIMES. I made four trips to Midland for alterations and by the fourth trip the dress was still too tight and uncomfortable but I couldn't afford to keep taking all the time to drive there. She did not seem to think this was a problem. As I was doing this months in advance, I mentioned to her that she could take her time with my dress and was response was always, "Heh, when am I not busy?" She had no respect for my time, as if I didn't have anything else to do but drive to see her. I ended up taking my dress to a more local tailor who noticed that the corset was sewn completely wrong (leading to my discomfort), the bustle was uneven and bulky, she had taken in one of the shoulders with a quick seam so that the lace no longer matched, and the hem was uneven. Fantastic. I would absolutely NOT recommend Beth's Alterations. Terrible service and terrible product. I would not trust her with any garment you like. read more

I have been to Beth's literally dozens of times over years, and never had anything but good experiences. She has replaced uncooperative zippers in tricky places, added pockets to purses and soft-side travel luggage, even. She has rescued fraying garments, or made them fit to wear. If something needs fixing, she finds a way to fix it. Particularly happy with a piece of luggage that was much more useful after she did what I asked with it, and a jacket that was wearable after she repaired it. read more

Two old ladies who probably like to sew as a hobby but shouldn't call themselves tailors. I took in two expensive pants to let out down the seams. The pants were bespoke suit pants and I was aware that there was a 2.5" allowance. The lady, who by the way is very rude - just try giving her a call and asking any question - said there was only .5". I just let it go and had them take it out the .5" they said they could. They didn't sew in a straight line, there was a hole - literally a hole where they missed putting the seams together, there was bunching, they sewed into the pants, I mean they just killed it. I probably could have done better watching a YouTube video and having a go myself. Seriously I don't understand how it could be sooo messed up. I wish I could give them no stars. read more

Took vintage coat there to have cuffs fixed, as it was showing wear. I was lucky that I didn't authorize for her to cut them or the coat would have been doomed to the rag bag. The "fix" was so horrible that I wanted to cry. I immediately took elsewhere to have removed and arrange for a professional alternation. Everyone I show the photos of what they did can't believe what they did. It is SO horrible. read more

I decided to use Beth Alterations when I was still new to town and they were located close to where I lived. I brought in a cashmere sweater and a pair of pants that both had holes in them but seemed easy to fix. An elderly lady working there didn't seem very friendly and looked annoyed by my questions. However, she confirmed that they work with delicate fabrics and they've had lots of cashmere items coming in lately. When my husband came to pick the clothes up a week later (on a day mentioned by the lady), they were not ready. No apology or explanation followed. Just weird jokes that she didn't have the clothes because "she sold them". We managed to get my clothes back the next day, but the quality of work left much to be desired. The thread used to fix the holes was totally different from the color of the garment, it was all uneven and showing very amateur level of skill (to say the least). I was very upset to have some of my favorite and expensive clothes messed up. Had to go to a different tailor out of Midland and get the results of Beth's work fixed. Don't go there unless you want to waste your time/money. read more
