Pretty much all they have in store is frozen meet, If you want a prime graded steak cut to order don't waste your time. they have a handful of thawed steaks but pretty much, it's what you see is what you get. I'm used to going into places and picking up USDA prime steaks, dry aged and cut to the thickness that I want. Sadly Salem Oregon doesn't have any place like that and this place is not near what I'm used to coming from central California. They give the same song and dance I've heard before: "we don't carry prime steaks but if you look at the marbling its the same" No, its not. I've been buy steaks for over 3 decades and know what a prime steak looks like and I didn't see any there, not on that day anyway. read more

Sticker shock would be the best way to describe my experience. But not with the meat... I expected that. So, what's my beef? The price of milk... Yes, I said milk! The new location near Fred Meyer on Commercial SE, sells milk too, in glass bottles! But... boy is it expensive! its not raw milk, but it is whole and certainly good. but $7 per half gallon is just not sustainable in my opinion even though it is local dairy, thats $14 a gallon! Did I buy some? yes, but i was misinformed as the bottle size and bought 2, because I make Labneh. Thats yogurt cheese for the un-initiated. and i thought i was buying 2 gallons (based on the salesman who said the price was per gallon. There is also a $3.50 deposit per bottle. so the price was $20.50 for... 1 gallon. Now to be fair, I should have done a bit more checking. the bottles do say 64oz on them, but not easy to see that until the bottles are empty and you can read it along the bottom edge of the glass. Also to be fair, it was my very first visit, so i received a free package of 80/20 hamburger, and a free really nice insulated better beef bag to carry it home in. so i guess i really bought the beef and the bag too... Will I go back? maybe after i recover from the Alaska milk price and want some really nice steaks. but restaurant pricing on meat is a bit tough to swallow right now. So I'll savor my fresh batch of savory garlic seasoned labneh, and contemplate my next visit. Their meat selection really is outstanding, but for a dairy option, I'll have to pass. read more

Good Day Yelpies I wanted to let you in on a not so secret of a retail outlet that had a huge emphasis on beef and quality food standards. I've shopped her a couple times just to get comfortable with a locker beef program. I must say that every purchase has been great and the quality of the meat is hands down the best. I can't lay out my work history but let's just say the meat grades out at prime 90% of the time which means melt in your mouth goodness. Oh yeah they have membership programs and they deliver just one more amazing thing that sets them apart from the big grocery conglomerate. I wanted top quality beef tenderloin to prepare fillet mignon for a group of friends. I had never heard of the Better Beef Company, but an internet search led me to this company. After reviewing their website I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did. I have purchased beef tenderloin from every major supermarket in the Salem area, usually contacting the butcher and specifying the size and quantity of the steaks and having him/her cut them from a fresh loin. The eight steaks I received from Better Beef Company were, by far, the best I have ever had - and my guests raved about them also. Wonderful flavor and absolutely tender. BBC delivered them directly to my home, frozen. I let them thaw in the refrigerator about 24 hours before my dinner. Excellent! read more

I read so many good reviews. Everything is frozen. They had a helpful salesman all duded up in cowboy boots, hat and wranglers. I tried the porterhouse steaks and the ground beef for burgers. The steaks were a waste of good money-Frozen meat just sucks. The ground beef was okay. Sorry, but I won't be going back. read more

These guys know their beef! We got 4lbs of Korean style ribs (flanken cut) and they were perfectly marbled, phenomenal flavor and fresh (no freezer burn at all). I 100% recommend grabbing your beef here at not some grocery store where you aren't sure what you're feeding your family.
