Been to this location twice now - It's pretty good! The first time it seemed like drinks took forever, the second time drinks were out before our food was. The first time we picked standard but moved up to premium and ended up just doing premium the second time too. All the meat was delicious, very flavorful and good cuts of meat. Drinks were delicious. Banchan was yummy as well, I just wish they had refilled them more often. Although it is a "do it yourself" type of place, it feels like unless your meat is all on the grill you'll struggle to find your waiter for anything else. The place has vaulted ceilings, dark aesthetics and was very clean. Even the bathroom was spotless. They're also very conveniently located right off the highway and are in a strip mall so ample places to park.

Sat 5:15 pm Party of 2 Post Thanksgiving crowd is light, service was friendly and excellent, quick proactive support. We ordered from the Premium package $34 and enjoyed all of our choices; beef Kalbi, beef and chicken bulgogi, teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken. We had five panchan (sides) and 2 of three sauces. They forgot the oil and salt. Servings are 3 types per round and will be proportional to the number of ppl at your table. For 2 ppl a serving of kalbi is one piece each. Our server checked on us often and brought our requests efficiently, I asked and heard that even on busy nights the service is good. There's a front section and then a large wall that separates an entire back seating area with a bar and slot machines. We were seated there by the windows which was less crowded. Enjoyed four rounds after hiking around Silver Falls. Great end to a great day. Thanks!

We came to the restaurant in a party of 11, and were seated at a large table with several stoves to cook on. Our server was great. Very attentive and responded to the slightest wave. We ordered the Premium package, and were generally very happy with it. The different beef meats we ordered were all very good. Hawaiian beef was by far the favorite of all at our table. Brisket was pretty good, but kind of plain. The others were very good. Chickens were great, too. My only complaints were these: 1. Everyone at the table has to order the same package. I understand (kind of) the reasoning for this. It's to keep people from sharing with others who might have ordered a different package. However, some more adventurous diners might want some of the more exotic foods that aren't available in the standard or premium packages. 2. The vegetable dishes were pretty tiny. You can order more, as the packages are all-you-can-eat, but they don't come with much by default. 3. The shrimp comes with tails, shells, heads, and legs. Yuck!!! For the price of the food, the shrimp should be ready to cook and eat. We will go back again some day, but it won't be a regular place due to the pretty high prices.

We recently went back and enjoyed a night out with the family. We were seated promptly with a party of six. 3 adults and 3 kids. It was fairly busy and the service was great and friendly. We enjoyed extra kimchee, fresh garlic and jalapeños and the sauces for every dish we could order! We ate good and can't wait to go back!

During my business trip to Portland, I began to crave Korean food. As a Korean American who grew up in Koreatown Los Angeles, I'd like to believe that I can differentiate good Korean restaurants from the bad. And Kkoki falls under the category of good. Let me explain why: 1. As a KBBQ establishment, the quality of their meat is above average. I ordered the family meal combo #2 with brisket, rib eye, pork belly, and pork jowl. They don't allow AYCE (all you can eat) for people dining alone so I had to go with a family combo. 2. Their bean paste stew 된장찌개 tasted perfect and I asked for it extra spicy 3. Rib eye was very tender. Brisket was uncomplainable. Pork Jowl was so good and pork belly was mediocre. 4. Service was great and I received Korean level customer service so I tipped him $20 for my meal. I'm in Portland for another week so will try to visit this place again before I fly back to California.

This is quite the hot spot in Salem. Located conveniently near the shopping mall we decided to stop in. The staff does a great job of explaining how it works. They bring you the meat, you cook it at your table with your own burner at the table. It's a great set up. They bring you the veggies and rice which you can have as much as you want for the base price of $27.95. They come back and check on you frequently. We got there about 5:30 and it was pretty empty. It was very full when we left around 7:00. It looks like they had beer and wine. As well as soft drinks. No take out allowed. All in all a good time. We learned a lot about the different foods. I'll definitely try this place again.

Forever my favorite place to go to for family dinners or date nights! I appreciate how they seattle out potions depending on how many people are at your table. My favorite dish is their Beef Ramen!

A group of five of us went. We did the supreme all you can eat. Not a fan of the two hour time limit. It should be at the least three hours. A few people ordered some cocktails. They all stated they were way too sweet to enjoy. A tip for cooking the meats, make sure your waiter increases the gas to high, to cook the food. Otherwise time passes, and the meat doesn't cook quick enough. For the price, it was only so-so for me. That was some of the saltiest meat I have ever had. You get rice and some other small appetizers. Service was excellent. Our waiter took allergy issues seriously and handled it well. I would pass if invited again. That overly seasoned meat was too much for my liking.

    The meats tasty

He had a great song selection, and his voice was hauntingly beautiful. I'm not a huge barbecue person because I prefer my meals to have a little more variety than just meat, but I did enjoy the brisket and the pork belly. The sides were just okay for me. I'm from the South, where we take our potato salad seriously, so I wasn't the biggest fan of theirs but I did really enjoy the beans and the corn salad. I'm Southern and I've eaten a lot...a LOT... of BBQ, from home cooked at my family meals and events, at roadside stands, food trucks, mom-and-pop joints, and nice sit-down restaurants. As part of my work as a corporate trainer, driving all over the South and Midwest was my daily commute, but BBQ was my daily off-work mission. I've eaten a LOT of BBQ! Whuttle's BBQ is not Southern quality, it is HIGH Southern quality. I wasn't very hungry when we went out tonight so I just ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich. My husband ordered the same plus the mac-n-cheese and we both had Whuttle's own fruit punch. I took a bite of the husband's mac-n-cheese to sample it...before he threatened me with the loss of a hand if I ate any more...and it was, to make it simple, the best mac-n-cheese I've ever had, and I've eaten a good bit of that around the country, also. The chicken was moist and tender with a perfect smoky aroma and flavor. Their BBQ sauce was just right and the sandwich had just the right amount - a flavor boost for the perfect chicken but not overpowering nor was the sandwich swimming in it. Just right. The bun was fresh and soft and was ideal. That fruit punch was so good I could have drank a gallon. It made the sandwich a perfect match. I realize I keep using the word 'perfect' in this review. That's not an accident. On top of the wonderful food and drink and speedy service was the Down Home friendliness of the folks there. We learned that the inspiration comes from their Arkansas roots and among great Southern BBQ, the BBQ I've had in Arkansas stood out from the rest, and honestly Whuttle's would make even great Arkansas BBQ seem average by comparison. It really is that good. We live just a mile or so away so we'll be regulars now. If you like BBQ and you really like great BBQ, you're missing out until you eat here.

The Pickle Gambit - super thinly lengthwise sliced pickles in a light batter. Comes with chipotle aioli and ranch. Good portion size. One of the best fried pickles I've ever had. Ned's 5-Alarm Chicken - really good crust and very flavorful. One regret is we didn't go waffles with this. Lemon Poppyseed Slaw - tastes like a classic slaw. A little sweet and creamy. Goes really well with the heavier dishes that we got. The Shrimp Incident - small shrimp and sliced sausage with a Cajun cream sauce and crostini. We thought this was ok Country Mac - my favorite part was the fried chicken as it was very tender and flavorful. The shell shaped pasta was cooked al dente - it was firmer than I would like partly due to the pasta being on the thick side. The Mac is Cajun forward and not very cheesy. Staff was very friendly. Finally, today was the day. We arrived at around 2:15 and ordered up brisket with beans, a three meat combo plate, and an order of nachos. While we were waiting, we began chatting with the owner of the Oregon Crepe Company, who was just dropping off the buns for service (love that this business is keeping it local). This gentleman was extremely pleasant and he and the owner of Chad's BBQ gave us a complimentary pretzel bun, which was generous and tasty. Salem Ale House was comfortable and we enjoyed a lovely beer. The brisket and the three meat plate were good - the sausage was the best part of the meal - very moist and flavorful with a casing that had a crisp snap. The brisket was nicely seasoned and tender, but not fall apart tender - we still had to use a knife to cut it. Pork was a bit dry (seemed to be very lean). The beans were smoky and tangy. Portions were generous. The meal went wrong with the nachos. The chips were stale and tasted like rancid oil. Despite the cheese sauce (we thought the portion was a bit stingy) and other various toppings, the rancidity of the chips just dominated each bite. We ended up picking off the pork and tossing the chips. We probably should have mentioned this to the owner but there was a bit of a line when we left and it is always easier to avoid complaining. UPDATE: The owner contacted me, apologized, and advised they noticed a bit too late that the chips were rancid.
