My water heater went out. The company that "diagnosed" the problem charged me $99 and said that this did not include the cost to replace it. The company then quoted me $2200 as the cost to replace it and reiterated that this did not include the $99 that they already charged me. So yes, had I gone with that company, it would have cost me $2300. Armed with this information, I posted pictures and exactly what the "diagnosis" said and asked for emailed quotes...to be clear I said EMAIL only. Called Lakeland on a hot Monday because my AC unit began to leak Freon. Was advised that because the unit was 18 years old and the fact that Freon is no longer available, it would be very expensive to repair. While quoting me the repair cost, I was given the cost of a new unit for comparison. The price for a new unit installed, in my opinion, was fair and chose to go that route. On Wednesday, the installation guys showed up on time, and had the new unit installed within a few short hours. The guys were professional and courteous and cleaned everything up to my satisfaction. Our water heater suddenly stopped working. We'd had a plumber out only two months prior to consider an upgrade, but he said we had at least 1-2 years left and it could wait. Then, it stopped working completely. I reached out to multiple businesses to get quotes for repair. Lakeland gave me a range and asked for photos. I sent photos and got back the message "Sorry, I'm gonna pass. Good luck". No reason. No rationale. No recommendation for a different plumber. Just, wow that sucks. Oh well. I've had people in all sorts of industries tell me they aren't the person for the job, but never have I had this level of dismissal. I went with another plumber. Initially had some issues with my central AC unit unit leaking. Then on 6/1, 91 degrees out, my AC went out. I called several places to get someone out and Jason replied within the hour of my call. He said he would be out on Friday between 4-7pm but, due to other client issues, he wasn't able to meet that time. However, he kept in touch and did make it that evening. He added coolant which allowed us to have AC throughout the house but the AC coil needed to be replace as it was leaking. He had his assistant, Arden, come in on the 14th to replace the coil. He did a professional job with the installation and also relocated our condenser drain line to drain outside instead of using a condenser pump, which tended to leak.
