The worst experience that our family has ever had with an appliance store. The sales part was a routine, went seemingly easy. On delivery day; however, the horrific experience started. The installer took nearly 4 hours for a dishwasher installation and it's still setting lopsided and he dented the dishwasher front when he overtightened the handles. The refrigerator was delivered in what appeared used condition, scratches, dried crumbs in crisper, scratched front that had been touched up with paint, etc ... it was nearly $4,000.00 refrigerator. The installers left. The store, Brian, will not do anything to make it right. he suggested we contact GE for warranty help. The service is horrific. read more

During COVID I bought a Weber Grill from Better Housekeeping over the phone. The gentleman I spoke with was very personable and helpful, and did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. The price was as good as online. Despite the aftermath of a storm that made it difficult to drive into my area, the grill was delivered as scheduled, assembled and installed. Like the gentleman who took my order, the two gentleman who delivered the grill were friendly and exceeded my expectations. Next time I need an appliance, Better Housekeeping will be my first stop. read more

My washing machine died on a Monday. I live in a 100 year old house so I was worried about the size of a washer getting down our narrow stairs to the basement. I was reluctant to even get an estimate from Better Housekeeping as I didn't think they could compete with the prices at the big box chains. After recommendations from multiple neighbors, I decided to give them a call. I spoke with Derek and he offered to come to the house to measure the space on the same day to make sure the appliance would fit. I asked for an estimate on 3 other appliances as they were in need of replacing. Derek was extremely knowledgeable and recommended certain brands that were the most reliable. The prices on the appliances were better than the box chains, so I stopped at the shop to sign the paperwork 15 min before closing on the same day. Even at that time, they were able to get me scheduled for a delivery the next day. Less than 24 hours after the order was placed, they delivered all four appliances. The deliverymen were extremely professional and very careful navigating the tight spaces to hook everything up. They were also thorough in making sure all the pieces were in good working order. I'm extremely happy with the personalized service and will be sure to stop at Better Housekeeping for any other appliance needs! read more

Not sure if I was ever taken seriously or whether the store just did not need the residential business. But on Tuesday, I cancelled the first of 3 orders which would have totaled $35,000 in business for this store. My wife informed the store owner, that we were recommended from a local building store and that we had a significantly large order. He in turn handed us off to his sales rep to take care of us. Well to their misfortune, we experienced extremely poor customer service, no follow up from the sales rep after many calls, and an owner never available to speak to us to resolve the issue. Thus, we took our $35,000 order elsewhere and unfortunately it is not local. Local business say they want business but I have not found one business that I have recently worked with are worth considering in the future. Rather, I find most to be complacently smug, lazy, and take your business and theirs for grant. read more

This used to be a great place to buy from and get service from. This was the worst and most stressful service experience I have ever had!! I needed to get my Jennair stove fixed. The burner blew out. They came to my house on Aug 24th and said they would order the parts and they would be in in 3-5 days. On the 26th I called and was told the parts were on the truck and that they would call me on Monday to set up call. No call, so I called both Tuesday and Wednesday and was told the same thing and still no one called me! I called on the 31st and asked for the owner Mike, who said his worker denied saying that to me and that reason for the long delay was that they never confirmed my landlord's approval for the credit card and gave me a bunch of excuses of why this happened. My landlord who is GREAT, denied ever getting a call from them. I said I would pay the charges and let's move forward. So now we are at 8 days later and they never ordered the part. It sounds like a bunch of people covering their butts who don't communicate with each other. So here it is 10 days later with no stove!! The (unfriendly!) guy comes fixes it and starts to leave saying my landlord was being charged for it. ARE YOU KIDDING? I thought you were waiting for approval! The repairmen goes on to say I don't have time for this I have 7 calls waiting AND he refused to give me a receipt! NEVER AGAIN! read more

Called for a repair of an oven we purchased from them, came with no parts and charged $80 to tell us what parts they needed to order with no credit for the first trip. If you come with no parts you can't possibly believe you can repair it. $80 To tell me it's broken? I knew that! read more

I had a similar experience as the previous reviewer about presenting BH with a competitor's quote and them telling me that it "looks like a great deal" and I should go with the other guy. However, that is not the reason for my rating. I spent over $21,000 at BH on an entire kitchen of appliances. They screwed up the order and left out the microwave that they admitted we spoke about several times, their delivery people have no legitimate office to call (you have to try to reach a driver on his cell phone while he is out making other deliveries), and when the appliances were supposed to be delivered the deliverymen discovered that they had not previously measured the elevator (as they themselves admitted that they should have) and it turned out that the fridge didn't fit in the elevator. So, I had to reschedule the delivery of the fridge (and the microwave that they forgot on the first order) and take more time to sit at home and wait for appliances. I also had to pay an additional cost to have the fridge disassembled and delivered in pieces (which would have been okay if someone at BH had told me ahead of time that this could happen), and when it finally was delivered, nobody put it back together!! I called BH multiple times and was told to patiently await a call from a repair shop that would schedule yet a THIRD appointment to come put the fridge back together. I finally gave up on waiting and called the repair shop who said they had been waiting on BH to give them details on the job! Good thing I didn't hold my breath for BH to come through on what they claimed (again!!). Bottom line... it's been weeks since I ordered my appliances. I finally got them but it took two separate delivery trips (and having someone wait at home) and additional delivery charges and dozens of phone calls (including to the owner, who was marginally helpful) to even get that much. However, my fridge is still in three pieces, I have no idea when this third party will be putting it back together, and this will now be my third time waiting at home.... You'd think dropping $21k would get you some level of customer service but I guess not... read more

I purchased a Summit wine cooler less than three months ago. Last week the cooler malfunctioned and froze all of my champagne. The bottles exploded causing over three thousand dollars of damage. At this point the store has done nothing to help me out. Not only did I lose 3,000 dollars of product I also have not be reimbursed for the 1,200 cooler that was destroyed. So we have these guys in to service our double oven. They tell us we need a new part, if the part exceeds $500 we should just buy a new oven. Well, the part comes in and doesn't fix the oven. Without our consent they order another part, total cost of about $640. I tell them I don't want to go ahead with this based on their recommendation. They said it's too late, the part is in and we paid for it. They ran our credit card based on the first part that was ordered. Pretty slimy. I will never use them again. Dont use them!! read more

Steve the owner went the extra mile to swap out the washer when it was giving me problems a month after purchase(I didn't even have to ask). No one does this anymore! Bought every appliance for my house 6 years ago clothes dryer died 2 months ago which was repaired twice at my expense in the 6 years I had it. I bought a new dryer to replace it now that one is not working. I'm told by better housekeeping they will not repair it as it's under warranty call the manufacturer, just spent 30 minutes on phone with whirlpool, finally was able to schedule service. So much for servicing what you sell, sure only if you get paid for it. If you are under warranty too bad!! Never again will I buy from Better Housekeeping! read more

I have been a customer of Better Housekeeping in Red Bank since 1995- the sales people have been knowledgeable and helpful, never rushing or pushing us to buy. We redid our kitchen in that year and were very pleased with our choices - microwave, cooktop(gas) and convection/regular electric oven). They arrived as promised and on time and installed with no problems. We recently replaced our microwave and cooktop and had a similar experience. We had a bad experience with another company that walked away from installing the one we purchased from them.
