Better Together Cafe offers up a variety of baked goodies, sandwiches, and specialty coffees in a cute and comfy environment. We stopped by Better Together Cafe recently for some coffee and breakfast on a late Saturday morning. I ordered their pistachio latte which was a sweet nutty delight. Truly one of the best pistachio lattes I've had in the area. For my meal, I got their caprese sandwich which was delicious. It's made with pesto (instead of fresh basil) but no complaints here--the pesto was delicious and the sandwich was hearty and tasty. The parking is on site is on site and convenient. Super cute cafe!!! They have awesome drinks, and the baristas are always willing to help you satisfy any fun drink craving. I haven't visited this location in a while but was reminded today of my last experience. It was the end of august and i was craving a s'mores latte with none in season at the time at any major coffee shop. I decided to stop into Better Together as id been there before and remember having lots of customization options. I shoot out of my car through the doors and to the cashier and plead "is there any way you could make me a s'mores latte" with ease and a smile the barista/cashier replies YES. This location also of stickers, art, and trinkets to shop along front area to shop while you wait. Small sitting area but I'm sure it is just right for those who have claimed it as their hang out spot or daily ritual. Im just a bit more introverted personally. Great local business here! read more

Despite the fact I grew here in South Milwaukee, I never get there these days. Today, I'm glad we ventured out to Better Together Cafe. It was trippy seeing it occupy what used to be a Dairy Queen long ago. This is a definite upgrade! The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. The food menu is limited, but that's ok - they have a few sandwiches and soup. I chose the Cubano, always a favorite of mine. This one stood out from many I've had. The place had a good vibe. Lots of people came and went. I hope that's a sign they are doing well! All in all, an excellent experience! South Milwaukee is lucky to have the place! read more

Date of visit: February 22, 2025 I had two meals out today; one on the far north side and one on the far south side. I am a bit surprised that the far better meal was that of Better Together in South Milwaukee, a city that gets literally no credit or respect--perhaps things are a'changing! The staff could not have been friendlier or harder working if they tried! While the space is small, they make the best of it and never let grass grow under their feet, always cleaning, organizing, and making sure that food and coffee drinks are delivered quickly and, of course, deliciously. They even came over with waters for us without asking! Who does that!? I had the grilled cheese, which was simple, but tasty. Would have liked to see a slight upcharge to add a protein, but the bread was excellent and the cheese was cheesing. As the very first stop after landing at MKE, we expected a little Midwest hospitality. We didn't receive any of that when walking in and waiting to order here. We stood in front of two workers talking to each other and another standing a few feet away doing who knows what for at least 2 minutes before being acknowledged. The least someone could have done was say they'd be with us shortly. That's literally all it would have taken; acknowledgment. The sausage egg sandwich on an English muffin was good, but I wish they'd had a better (maybe homemade) hot sauce to go with it. Another successful Yelp suggestion and event! Better Cafe was cute, clean, helpful service and warm atmosphere. We had the espresso oreo and cinnamon toast crunch, which were very popular and delicious. I took mine without whip cream but enjoyed the extra boost of caffeine. The cinnamon toast crunch tasted just like the cerea. They were all types of folks from families, working people and singles. Cookies n' Cream Shake: Better Together Cafe is located in South Milwaukee near the entrance to scenic Grant Park. The cafe opened in 2021 by owners Becky and Zach Kinzer. Its name comes from their belief that some things are better together, such as people and coffee with ice cream. It was a bit weird walking in for the first time as that building was a Dairy Queen for my entire life until 2021. Let me tell you though, I visited in the afternoon and it far more crowded than DQ ever was. The place was packed! Staff were super friendly and considering the crowd, service was quick. I found the interior to be tastefully decorated, clean, and cozy. Their menu offers a variety of coffees, a few different food options, and over ten different shakes, including a gluttonous "The Better Shake" aka their shake of the month. I went with their Cookies n' Cream shake, which is made with OREO cookies, milk, chocolate syrup, and ice cream. The version with espresso was tempting, but it would have been too much caffeine late in the day for me. Anyways, my caffeine-free version was extra thick and contained a plethora of crushed OREO pieces along with a generous amount of whipped cream doused in thick ribbons of chocolate syrup. I am definitely going to be back! Better Together is not super close to me, but I think that a 20 min drive to snag a treat is worth it once in a while. I had a mocha shake with espresso shot and ohhhhh boy it was so good. It really reminded me of a malted coffee shake offered by another coffee chain. I was immediately in love and wanted to order another! My husband had an iced mocha and found it to be too sweet for his preference, so keep that in mind if you are more a coffee person over sweet when ordering. The location is really nice, corner lot with a decent sized parking lot. Many will remember when it used to be a DQ, but the new owners really put a lot of work into painting and decorating to make it a clean and cozy cafe. There was a long bar top with seating looking out the front windows, and plenty of tables to sit and enjoy food and drink purchases. This is such a cute place! Parking lot is small but it matches their indoor capacity. Staff were friendly. I had wanted to check this place out for a while after following them on Instagram for a couple years now. The August shake celebrating Harry Potter's birthday always caught my eye. My nieces were in town so I jumped at the chance of taking them there. I had to laugh because one niece got a vanilla shake, the other the cookies and cream, and never adult, the fun Harry Potter one. The shakes come in three sizes. I should have gotten both nieces small because they did not finish their mediums. The menu in the cafe is just text so if you're looking for visuals, I recommend going to their website. Firstly the hours are a problem. I wanted to come sooner but my kid doesn't get home until 4. They close at 4:30pm. We had to hurry through traffic arriving at 4:15pm. When we left, the parking lot was full of cars. They are missing out on the after school crowd. We just made it today and I was psyched to try a salted milkshake. I was expecting a tricked out shake like they show on their page. I got a small pretzel in mine. Nothing show stopping. Also mine lacked the salted part of the salted caramel. I opted for the smaller size but could have up graded to a bigger $7 shake. They also offer different milks and add ons like espresso. My daughter's was the cinnamon toast crunch shake. It had a wafer cookie shoved in the top. Again nothing show stopping. They also didn't have any food. Even french fries would have been good. Overall great experience. The baristas were really nice and helpful. I only had the cold brew which was some of the best I've had in the city and my friend had the chocolate croissant and he really enjoyed that. Solely as an FYI, this place is TINY! Cramped cafe seething area that seats less than 20 people. I think there are 4 two top tables, 1 six person table and 6 single bar height stools. Showed up with my friend on a Friday morning and we unfortunately had to turn around and leave without trying since there would have been no place for us to sit. And there were more people pouring in the door behind us! Most two top tables were taken up by one person leisurely working on their laptops and the one big table was being hogged by two ladies and all their stuff. Kudos to the business for having a popular spot, but wish it could accommodate the demand! Still hoping to check it out some day because it for sure looks delicious...but possibly will have to be really aggressive and get there right at opening to be able to sit and stay to enjoy my coffee/milkshake. read more

This is a cute cafe with great coffee, tea and ice cream drinks. I live their unique milk shakes of the month. They have sprinkles of the rim,, cookies,, candies,, etc.. brilliant idea with great presentation! The staff is friendly and efficient. It's a bit pricey. There are ALWAYS a bunch of sugar laced children running around. Yes, it's more a parental issue vs a restaurant issue. We just got through a worldwide 'virus' closing down schools and businesses. It's incredibly disturbing to watch children helping themselves to the brightly colored straws which are stored (unwrapped) in a cup-like container. It seems to me, the owners should take steps to eliminate the germ sharing. We've all learned a lot and have been more diligent about reducing germ transferring and yet this is just irresponsible.
