I did not get the most friendly vibes...I came in with my book bag, attempting to do some work & possibly focus in on some things. The chairs didn't look comfortable. It just didn't feel very inviting and was smaller than what I thought it would be, inside the place. I said I wanted the $4 matcha, and the barista asked me what size--the menu didn't specify sizes, it just said the price by the drink name. I said, "Which one is the $4 one?" She seemed just as confused as me. I asked for a chocolate donut, to which she responded with, "You said the white chocolate right?" *insert casual flip of the tip screen* Between the service and the "vibes," sorry, but I can take my time and business elsewhere. read more

Stopped by Charleston Coffee for the first time on a Saturday morning and it certainly won't be the last. Charleston Coffee has a robust coffee menu, including some fun specialty lattes, and a fun seasonal beverage menu to boot. Their food menu is varied and includes a few vegan items. I ordered their nutella latte which was good! My dining companion ordered their pistachio latte, which was a delicious blend of pistachio and white chocolate (I had a sip). They have milk alternatives and we were both able to get our lattes made with almond milk. For my breakfast, I got their vegan breakfast burrito which was easily one of the best vegan breakfast burritos I've enjoyed. With creamy chunks of vegan mozzarella, vegan chorizo, and eggless egg, it was delicious! My dining companion got the same dish and we pretty much spend the morning raving about it. The service was friendly and welcoming. They have some lovely outdoor seating (a little early in the spring for us to enjoy--but we'll be back later in the summer!) and comfortable indoor seating as well. Get to it! read more

Positives: great atmosphere, fun coffee flavors, plentiful tasty sounding menu items. Hard working staff. Food was good. Challenges: understaffed - the cashier was also making drinks and there only seemed to be one person in the kitchen. Both seemed to be teenagers, which is not a problem, it just seemed strange for such a busy restaurant with a robust menu. The bathroom was out of paper towels and when told, the staff said they were out. The napkin dispenser was also empty but they were able to refill that. read more

Tried this place a few weeks ago on DoorDash for a lazy start to the day. The food arrived hot and was delicious. Decided to check them out in person the following week. The croissant breakfast sandwich was delicious. The breakfast burrito was more pressed like a panini this time around. When we ordered to go, it looked more burrito. Both versions were good, just a bit surprised with the pressed one. The inside very gives coffee shop vibes. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. Cute vibe, great coffee. That's what we went in for. The menu does seem a little overwhelming when you walk in. I was glad there weren't anyone else in line, cuz I had to take some time to look through. There weren't any sugar free options so I just had their coffee - medium/bold roast. I had asked what roaster the coffee is from, but it wasn't a familiar brand. Whatever it was, it was good! Friend had the lavender oat latte. She took half of their regular dose of syrup, and says it was just perfect. She's not a huge sweet drink person, but says this was a perfect pick me up at 3pm. It wasn't very busy on a weekday afternoon, but we saw a couple who looked like regulars having lunch... and the lunch looked so good. Planning on a return visit for their food! I don't usually complain about Charleston Cafe because I love it. Today though I made an order earlier to come by 2:40. When I went back to look at it later than that because I remembered it said it was canceled. It said to look at my email and it would tell me why but there's nothing in there. So I looked it up on Google and it said they're open till 5:00 starting today. So it was 4:00 when I was trying to call them. I went on doordash it said it was closed and nobody answered. So today I'm very upset because I can't figure out why it's canceled. I'm not saying this happens often because I don't know about other people but this really upset me this time since I was really looking forward to my food. read more

Cutely decorated independent coffee shop in the City of Cudahy- serving up all your bar drinks, Matcha lattes, coffee and a large variety of food since August 2020. Charleston has plenty of indoor seating, and lots of locals were hanging out, which is really nice. Apparently this place used to be a hotel in the 1920s, and has that boarding house look, and is decorated with warm tones and copper touches, include a floor made of pennies. I decided to catch up on some reading and ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee "for here". I would love to see coffee mugs for here instead of To-go cups to reduce paper waste, as well as having half n half carafes instead of those plastic cup half n halfs. Put out a water station for customers. Small tweaks which are fairly standard at indie coffee shops. Plenty of breakfast sandwiches and omelettes on the morning menu, and sandwiches and fresh pizzas. Their outdoor patio is huge! The owners have really made a committment and it shows. read more

I would love to try Charleston Cafe. There are a few breakfast and lunch items that look amazing based on menu descriptions and pictures on their website. Unfortunately, they're unreliable. Both last week and today I made a 35 minute drive from Germantown to Charleston Cafe so I could order right when they open at 7am and make it back to work on time. Last week I waited 15 minutes before leaving because they hadn't opened yet. I called them about an hour later to see if they were open and the person that answered apologized and blamed a "family emergency" for not being open at 7am. Fine, I thought I'd give it another chance. Today I waited 10 minutes before leaving since, yet again, they weren't open on time. If you can't be open at 7am, don't advertise that you're open at 7am. A "family emergency" can only be blamed so many times. I don't know if I'm going to bother trying a third time, which is disappointing considering how excited I was for this place. read more

I get a lot of Door Dashes here and we finally checked it out! Their menu board is a bit overwhelming. They have specials along with teas, coffees, fraps, and even Italian Soda. Cute little cafe with a good flow of people. The iced coffee and cannoli were very good. The behind the scenes cook was pleasant and brought our food directly to the table with a smile. They do need to upgrade their food game though. The everything breakfast burrito was filled well but dry, the egg and cheese croissant was an expensive version of a Jimmy Dean breakfast croissant without the sausage..both sandwiches would be better purchased from your own grocery store and microwaved in your own kitchen. This is the absolute cutest cafe ever, it has quickly become a go-to spot for me to meet my coworkers and boss for daytime/morning coffee meetings. They have a large selection of hot/cold coffee drinks and will gladly customize your drink (I usually get almond milk and add a espresso shot to everything lol). They also have a good selection of food! I've only ever gotten a muffin (to easily snack on during work chats) but everything else I've seen come out looks amazing! I also just realized they are open late night and serve beer/wine/pizza/etc. I am definitely planning to come on a nice night and enjoy some wine & pizza on the patio with the fire pit!! 10/10 would recommend this place read more

I really wanted to love Charleston Cafe, but it's just kind of okay. Pros: On a main drag, convenient location. It's small and cute. The music was fun: Elvis, and similar. My coffee was decent (I ordered a lavender honey concoction). Price was reasonable. Not so great: The food. It's nice that there are vegan options, but my "turkey" wrap was honestly kind of gross. I probably should have asked what they used for plant-based turkey, but I guess I expected something other than the yucky turkey slices you find at most grocery stores. The chips were the best part of my meal. Will I try Charleston Cafe again? Probably. I'm really hoping my next experience is better. read more

On the plus side it's a cute place in a great location (no other independent coffee shops anywhere near), easy street parking in front, and staffed by enthusiastic, youthful workers. On the negative but improving side, they aren't into being environmentally responsible. The first time I came in, I explained to the cheerful young lady (I'm not into cheerful young ladies by the way, I came here for coffee) that I wanted to have an espresso here and (pointing to the stack of espresso cups and saucers) I would like to have it served in one of those ceramic espresso cups. She agreed with excessive exuberance but didn't tell the young man who actually fixed my espresso and served it at my table in a disposable paper cup with a non recyclable plastic top and little plastic stirrer. I asked him if next time I could get it in a ceramic cup, and explained I was trying to minimize garbage waste. He hadn't heard of anything like this, explained they have to serve in disposable cups because of COVID and I pointed out that no one was masked, there was no distancing, and in fact he was standing less than two feet from me. I asked if next time he could check with his boss, just to see if maybe an exception could be made for me. He agreed to. He uses lots of extra nonsense words like adding "today," and "at all" and "today at all" to ever sentence. Oh people murder the American English language with such aplomb and veracity. Alas. So the next time I came in, I begged to have my espresso in a proper espresso cup, and the same young man served it to me in the espresso cup, but not the saucer (that was up there, I saw them). So I feel like I'm making progress. The coffee is good, the pastries are too. I like the ambiance enough I am going to keep coming back until I get these youths trained right. read more

Came here with two friends during the lunch hour. It was very busy at that hour. Our order was taken by a very pleasant and helpful person. We ordered a salad and two sandwiches plus drinks. My salad was as described, and the ingredients were picture perfect. I was surprised there were no crackers on offer. I didn't bother asking. The dressing was tasty and not overly salty. The iced coffee was great. The decor is cute and there is a variety of table sizes, however, the ordering line has to snake around the tables. The four person tables had crumbs on them. After your meal you bus your own table. Sandwiches come on paper and cold drinks in plastic. Salads come on ceramic plates, and metal utensils are provided. There is no plastic recycling bin. One of my friends did not get her sandwich and she had to ask for it. It was brought out quickly but without an apology. She said it was tasty (beef hoagie). I felt like they were short staffed. It was too hot to sit on the patio, but I have been out there before and it's very nice. Despite the few small things, I would return. read more

This cute little coffee shop has some good eats for lunch. We split a Piparo's pizza with sausage, mushrooms, and black olives. The crust was thin and the pie was loaded with creamy mozzarella. We also split a salad, which was plenty for two. The ingredients were fresh, and we especially enjoyed the real bacon pieces, almonds, and swiss cheese. The lemon pepper dressing was very good. For dessert, we split an apple dumpling. I liked the filling, and my husband liked the dumpling crust. We've been in this establishment for coffee in the past, and we are glad we can now add it to our lunch rotation. There's a pretty patio and fire pit on the side of the shop, and I can't wait for warmer days to try it out. read more

Cute ambience; Nice Baristas; Management needs training in Customer Service. ...start out by saying the baristas are great! The manager, on the other hand, is not. Here are 2 examples of what we witnessed recently. We were enjoying a quiet Sunday afternoon when the manager started arguing with his girlfriend who was the barista. The argument escalated , voices were raised, she walked out and he went after her dropping the "f" bomb as he left! There was a family sitting at one of the tables with young children and they certainly didn't need to hear any of what went on between the two supposed adults. The second time we witnessed this manager lose his temper and begin an argument in front of customers it was almost closing time. There seemed to be some confusion with a food delivery service person. There was a lot of conversation between the delivery person and the baristas. The manager walked in, walked into the service area, talked briefly with the baristas and began raising his voice and arguing with the food delivery person. It was obvious to those in the cafe that she was upset and rather than walking outside and talking privately, the manager continued to argue and finally walked out of the Cafe saying as far as he was concerned, the matter was not his problem. He left the food delivery person standing there, visibly upset. We quietly got up and left the Cafe and haven't been back since. We spend a lot of time in Cafe's , inviting friends to join us and spend the afternoon just enjoying the company in a comfortable place. We always try to frequent our local businesses rather than the big chain coffee shops but sadly, the Charleston Cafe will not be on our list in the future. Hopefully the owner(s) will take the time to train their manager and emphasize the importance of stellar Customer Service - both to bring in new customers as well as retain the loyal ones. As far as the baristas, we hope they will not learn bad habits from this dismissive and poor excuse for what a manager of a customer based business should be. They deserve better than that. read more

We happened onto this charming coffee shop/cafe while wandering the city. Clean and well lit, their selection of beverages was top notch, their bakery selection looked appealing, their sandwich menu inspired. We ordered a strawberry banana smoothie, a nonfat sugar free vanilla latte with an extra shot, a raspberry/rhubarb French pastry, and a Canoli to enjoy there. We also ordered two Cuban Paninni sandwiches and a slice of Espresso cookie crust chocolate cheesecake topped with a rich raspberry ganache to take back to our hotel. Oh my goodness ... where to start. My latte was as I'd requested, extra hot and a perfect blend of bitter and sweet. My husbands smoothie was chock full of fresh strawberries and bananas in more than adequate proportions. But it was the Canoli and the fruity French pastry that had us looking at one another, saying; "now this is a Canoli like we had in Italy, and did this French pastry come from Paris, or Cudahy Wisconsin? Both were delicious! A couple of hours later we decided to tuck into our Cubans, and as someone who's ordered Cuban sandwiches around the world, I can honestly say this was up there with the best European restaurants where I've enjoyed this filling and tasty treat. Later last night, wanting just a little something sweet before bed, we decided to tuck into the Espresso cheesecake. Once again we just stared at each other in amazement. How could something so heavenly come from a little family owned and operated corner cafe along the Wisconsin coast? The simple answer is the family running this sweet stop has a history in restaurants and believe me, they know what they're doing. We don't live in Wisconsin, but if we did, we'd be regulars at this darling cafe. If I'm ever back in Cudahy, I promise this will be my top choice of where to eat! How do you expect customers to know this is the Charleston Cafe? My friend saw me walk by and yelled at me and said this is the place.How do you expect any business? Your employees acted like I was bothering them when I ordered. Lack customer skills. When I received ordered dropped off plate and walked away. Never asked if I could get you anything else. No napkins with meal. I walked up and asked and the kid said over there and walked away.. really. Part of sandwich cold. Sat there along time and servers never came over to pick up plates. If you're looking for some crafty coffee concoctions near Cudahy look no further. I was delighted by the various mocha, latte, and even tea options on the menu. I absolutely love the caramel toffee macchiato, and the Bee's Knees latte is appropriately named if you're looking for something with a sweet cinnamon kick to warm you up. I tried the everything breakfast burrito and loved that it had three meats in it as well as tater tots, and it was grilled like a panini-it really hits the spot. I also took a locally made fruit crumble bar to go, delicious. Have also had the grilled cheese from here and that will really make you feel better on a rough day. Only taking off a star for using regular American cheese in the breakfast burrito, if in Wisconsin, must use real cheese, but the three meats made it all worth it! read more

Cassidy and Jeff were very attentive to customer service for our breakfast meal. Offering napkins, carrying our order out to the relaxing patio complete with a waterfall area. I didn't take photos but ample room for spreading out and enjoying the weather. Fast, friendly service and discussed compostable items. I would enjoy seeing paper bags for take out and did catch a glimpse of some. Also suggest a recycling bin on the patio and in house. Very clean, well lighted and decorated. Our breakfast croissants were hot, fresh and very reasonably priced. Coffee was great and the cup was stellar as it didn't need a sleeve. I look forward to returning for lunch and more.
