Might be my favorite coffee and bake shop in all of Wisconsin (I've only been here for a month though). The coffees were excellent so was the lattes, I also had the breakfast sandwich egg and cheese on a house made croissant ... best part about it... the runny yolk! Perfection! I also got an apple maple something bar... next level good.

I absolutely love the Hillside café. They have the absolute freshest bakery items and you will always find something new and delicious when you go in! The staff is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Delicious & fresh food, delicious coffee, and gluten-free options! Absolutely everything that you want from a neighborhood coffee shop.

Very cute, smiling staff, who will talk you up a storm, and laid back atmosphere. Lots of GF options for sweets and serves Anodyne coffee. Service is slow, but it's because they're so friendly with everyone. Just take your time and enjoy browsing through their knickknacks!

What a cute little coffee spot! Hillside is a great place to grab a quick coffee, stay and do some work or just relax and enjoy the ambiance. They have a large variety of coffee drinks and do have seasonal drinks. I have had their iced coffee (which they serve with coffee ice cubes - frozen coffee - to not dilute the drink) and various lattes and can say they are always delicious and just the right amount of sweet. Their bakery is also very good and they have a large variety of baked goods to choose from. Staff are very nice and friendly. The owner regularly comes and will talk to customers which I really appreciated!

This is the most adorable coffee shop I've ever been inside of. It's in a cute former schoolhouse. They have a variety of homemade pastries and treats to choose from at the main station where you order and pay. They then have you enter the main room, which has an eclectic mix of seating arrangements, where you can wait for your drinks. They serve either in to go containers or on China! Their coffee is delicious as are all their treats. (Don't forget to try a cinnamon roll! That's their specialty!)

This was once a school, now a coffee house with amazing baked goods. There was a line when I arrived and it moved very fast. The ladies working are all extremely friendly and welcoming. There are several tables to relax and enjoy your coffee, and lots of windows with natural light and plants, a very calming place, and there is a whole downstairs as well. I was impressed with my bakery treat and will definitely be back to try more. Not pictured was my chai and that too was delicious, not over spiced, just the way I love it.

A year later and I'm finally back at the Hillside Coffee House. Let me tell you, I am even more surprised and delighted at my experience here. The ham and cheese croissant was melt in your mouth delicious and worth the wait for them to make a fresh batch. The iced cinnamon roll latte was smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere in here is amazing, and the staff makes you feel like this is your home. So many smiles, so much kindness, and amazing smells. If you haven't been here yet and are thinking about trying, then step right in to your home away from home.

my favorite coffee shop in the world! the staff is always super sweet and helpful and the food is unlike anywhere else. it's the best bakery and coffee you can find. the environment is also super cozy! lots of seating options in the downstairs and upstairs.

Very cute place! It looks like an old time school house ! You walk up the stairs and see the shoe case! You can order coffee and desert ! I got the strawberry cream puff that's a bid selling item ! Homemade delicious cream I ordered freshly brewed coffee ! Tasted like great beans!! We bought a blueberry lemon pound cake slice to take home and enjoy for another day! Will go again to this local business !!

Hillside Coffee House is a beautiful local coffee spot in Oak Creek. This renovated building from the late 1800s has served as a school (with photos from the 1930s classes to prove it!), city hall, and a variety of other businesses. There's plenty of natural light, tables, and nooks to be cozy in. They serve a variety of baked goods and Anodyne coffee. I'll be back!

After doing a little research, I've learned that sadly, Kringles are not widely spread throughout the U.S. Did you know Kringle is the official state pastry of my home, Wisconsin? It turns out that Racine, WI is actually the epicenter for Kringles. Racine's O&H Danish Bakery opened in 1949 and has been family owned for four generations. The almond kringle is one of their more traditional/basic flavors, but it is still impressively delicious. I was pleased with the amount of filling O&H crams into the pastry. It's got a nutty flavor that is so sweet, it almost seems fruity. Texturally, the filling has a creamy aspect to it, but it's also rather dense. The body of the kringle has hints of butter and like the filling, is thick and dense. Additionally, it has a flaky and pleasantly chewy texture. Lastly, the kringle is topped with a thick layer of icing. Usually O&H is pretty consistent, but as you can see from the pics, some portions of the kringle had a really thin amount of icing compared to others. Regardless, it was still another superb Kringle from O&H. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews * Only minor complaint is the size/price as I wished they also offered a smaller version of their Kringles or half kringles or even individual slices. My Top Kringles: 1. Pumpkin Caramel (limited time from O&H Bakery) 2. Eggnog (limited time from O&H Bakery) 3. Cheesecake (Racine Danish Kringles) 4. Sea Salt & Caramel (Racine Danish Kringles) 5. Sea Salt Caramel Pecan (Uncle Mike's)

Everything is so good. I'm the happiest with their Kringle though. Cupcakes are just ok, coffee is and some of their donuts are superb, but not all. My friends love (LOVE) their lunch menu but I've never a chance to try personally. You can get a Kringle for $10 at Trader Joe's, while here, you pay about $2 more, but you do get to pick from a variety of flavors. Service is spotty - I've had mostly positive experiences, with a few grumpy cashiers, but not overly rude. The store in Racine seems to be generally more friendly and happy.

First up, location and staff. This is truly a neighborhood bakery so expect to pull in, grab some things, and dash off. I believe they have some tables for the summer but in March there's just no place to sit and enjoy your items, so keep that in mind. It's a family affair behind the counter with the young gentleman reminding me of helping my mom bus tables as a waitress many years ago. He was polite and efficient, two great things you don't see in young 'uns these days! Most importantly, the goods! Sundays are cinnamon roll days and that is where it's at, people. They are ready by 9 am and when we grabbed them this morning, they were still warm! We took them to the Starbucks on Drexel because of the aforementioned seating challenge and they were still warm and also delicious. Easily one of the best rolls I've ever had--and I am nothing if not a bread connoisseur. I also snagged a peanut butter cup for later (later being noon...) and it was phenomenal. Don't sleep on this place--honestly, how am I the first one reviewing it!--if you're anywhere in the southern hemisphere of Milwaukee, it's a gem!

The first event that occurred was when I went to Jen's to simply grab a few pieces of candy because I didn't have too much change on me. I grabbed some stuff and a few pieces I got were a bit over the amount I had. Instead of kindly saying that an older woman that's always at the register told me,"If you know you don't have enough money don't bring all of this up here" I found it rude but I assumed she had a bad day. The second interaction happened today. I came in with a few cents in my pocket to pay for some candy and leave like I always do I go to Jen's all the time. I pay , and I'm always nice. She followed me around , hovered over me when I tried getting what I needed , stared me down as soon as I came in , and I am an African American woman. She stared me down and when I went to the register she asked me if I had anything in my pockets when I went to ask her how much money in change I had. I was flabbergasted. She stared me up and down and made me feel unwelcome. I simply put what I already grabbed back and left. I did say,"No offense but if you're gonna think I'm stealing then I won't shop here." And I left. They're always in a rude mood when there and almost never nice. I went back later just for an explanation as that's a local store. They both said it's because they thought I put things in my pocket I told her I didn't and she shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. I asked why she would think that I always pay. I didn't get anything only that she thought I was stealing. I don't know if it's because I'm African American but this environment makes me feel unsafe due to the energy , the glares , and the rude comments.
