Run...don't walk as far from here as you can!!! I walked in and there were about 7 people in line to check in. No kiosk, no sign in....just wait for everyone in front of you to get processed. I was there for a quick employment drug test. They took my order and ID and told me to go fill out paperwork. Everyone else did their's at registration, but I had to sit. Filled it out and gave it back. Sat patiently to be called back. About an hour later they call me to register!!! What???!!! They verified my ssn and phone and said I'd be called back soon. Then they put me at the end of the queue despite it being their mistake!!! I sat another hour to be seen. Every person on the planet was seen before me. Once called back it was 90 seconds and I was done. Horrible horrible horrible. They made Patient First seem like a spa resort. Shame on HCA. read more

This review is for CareNow since their name and ownership has changed: The web checkin is useless. It does not provide accurate selections for physician or pharmacy. It does not hold your place in the queue! The text prompts are not clear ("come into the office" does not indicate you need to see someone at the front desk). There is one person at the front desk to process checkin and check out (BetterMed had 2). We have been waiting for OVER an hour and still have not been seen. Someone who was a walk-in (not web checkin) was processed and seen after 5 minutes and we are STILL WAITING. Do better. read more

Great service, quick help, warm staff. I was helped very quickly, I'm not shy and embarrassingly blunt, and they were not startled or put off by my adult speak involving my problem. Wonderfuly open staff, not afraid to discuss your situation with adult words. Which I appreciate. You can hear other appointments through the walls, T.V.s help the slightest but not really. My doctor (female) has stunning bedside manor, she was great, very understanding, offering with her information and understood me well. I am new to the area and needed to see someone as I believed I had bronchitis. My wife had used them in Mechanicsville and had a great experience so I tried the one in Colonial Heights. You can check in online as to what time you want to arrive and I did that before I left. There is plenty of parking in the lot and as you walk in everything looks and smells new. I was waited on quickly and didn't have to wait long in the waiting room. The people were nice they checked me in. The waiting room was clean. Upon seeing my doctor she did a great job of listening to my concerns and then doing an analysis of me to determine I did have a sinus infection and bronchitis. Dr Lori Rutledge was who I saw and she did an excellent job, very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely go back although I hope I don't have to! read more

Took my 5 month old because he was sick and his pediatrician didn't have any open appointments for 2 days and they said he was in "perfect health other than a cough". 2 days later he's still sounding and acting exactly the same and I finally got him an appointment with his pediatrician and he has a double ear infection that she said he's definitely had for more than 2 days. I definitely don't recommend bringing your children here because they obviously don't care. read more

Highly recommend! Thought I had the flu, was cared for by a very sympathetic nurse practitioner and on my way in less than 20 minutes. Turned out to just be an upper respiratory infection. The waiting room was quiet and calm, with offerings of Keurig-style coffee and tea while you wait. Each patient room was clean and bright (not bright like a hospital room, though) with a small TV on the wall to keep you entertained. My friend told me to go here instead of the other urgent care facility across the street, and what a wise decision it was. read more

Only go to this place if you wish to spend more in copays. My daughter was encouraged to attend this place on her lunch break because they supposedly have faster service. Not only did it take her over an hour to be seen she also paid a higher copay. A typical copay fee for a place comparable to patient 1st and minute clinic is $25 for me and my family. They charged $40 (which is what I pay to see a "specialist" and they are not that honey) stating they could bill that way because they are considered "urgent care". Yeah ok. They are basically beating you out of your money. You got my daughter once but NEVER again. Loved this place UNTIL I GOT THE BILL! We have a PPO and have never paid close to this much for a visit to an urgent care facility like Patient First and Kidmed. We've always just paid a $30 copay. What I found out after a long and treacherous road of calls and complaints was that BetterMed bills by the actual doctor not the clinic itself. That doctor is typically associated with a specialty so we had to foot about half of the bill. I have $400 worth of bills from Bettermed for a pink eye visit and a strep throat visit. Brutal! I have no idea why they bill differently than any other outpatient clinic we've ever been to and the folks at the BetterMed billing department were rude and not helpful at all. Avoid this place at all costs if you have a PPO. read more

Best Urgent Care we've been to so far here in Virginia. We saw the same doctor (Dr. Gazoni) two days in a row. Ft. Lee's on call provider referred us there because it was the weekend and was only a few miles away from post. On Saturday, my son was complaining of chest pain, and he was really congested. His allergies have been acting up. The doctor gave him a Xopenex treatment and a steroid, and a Rx to pick up at the pharmacy. On Sunday, my son started complaining that his ear was hurting. The doctor gave him an antibiotic Rx, and we were on our way... Dr. Gazoni and his staff (from front desk to the nurses) were amazing on both days. They made both my kids feel comfortable and treated them great even if we were only there for my son. The doctor answered all of our questions and worked well with what our needs were. The clinic was very clean even the restrooms. There was No Wait Time!!! We were out of there quick. My husband and I would definitely recommend this clinic to all our friends. read more

My teenage son and me both went to BetterMed in Prince George this morning. We had flu-like symptons and both tested positive for different strains of flu. The Nurse Practitioner that took care of us was great and treated us like we were the only patients there. Terrible experience. Talked to the back of a computer while being checked in. Went to the back immediately only to have vitals taken and then sit there for almost an hour in a thin gown shivering with chills. Provider came in. Looked at me. Confirmed what I already knew I had and sent me on my way to go get oral antibiotics. Less than 5 minutes spent with me. Shivering and shaking the whole way out. I had a known infection. Fever with tachycardia. I should have had at least a cbc drawn to see my white blood cell count and to make sure I wasn't falling in line with sepsis. Went to Walgreens to pick up the abx and when I got there they hadn't even received it yet. I left Bettermed that day and went immediately to the ER. I had a fever when I arrived of 103.2 and a heart rate of 153. After hours of IV fluids and Iv antibiotics I was finally released. Walgreens didn't receive my prescription order from Bettermed until my discharge from the ER! Save yourself some money and time and go somewhere with actual care providers. read more

Nice and quick, it should be explained though that you will be paying for a Doctor on premises whether you see him/her or not. It would be wise to use this place for truly urgent issuses as you will prob pay 3 times as much as going through an ER or your primary depending on your Ins. 15 min without seeing a Dr cost me $334 and that was with Ins. If my fee had been explained i certainly could have waited and saved at least $200. read more

He listened to what I had to say and helped brainstorm other meds since I'm allergic to most cough meds. Most places would just say you have to deal with it. The staff kept me informed the entire time I was there. The doc gave me understandable instructions at time of discharge and I had a follow up call from the Better Med the next day. This company is simply unable or unwilling to get a bill correct. FOR YEARS, they bill the co-pay amount as part of the final charges added into the bill. Despite the fact that the copayment is required prior to seeing whomever is pretending to be a physician at the time. Nice physician ASSISTANT, who is able to prescribe medication. The billing office is made up of people who can't quite seem to realize that the copayment was made prior to service, per the stated rules clearly outlined on the wall of the facility. I dread any member of my family going here, because it happens EVERY time.... idiots. read more

UPDATE: After posting on Yelp!, BetterMed contacted the pharmacy at Fort Lee and has resolved the issues it had with prescribing to military beneficiaries. It is always helpful to remind providers and patients that military pharmacies only accept original hard copy prescriptions hand-signed by the provider. previous post: Military patients be aware: To pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy on Ft Lee your provider must print out the prescription and hand sign it with an inkpen. The Kenner Army Health Clinic pharmacy does not accept any faxed prescriptions, verbal orders (call-ins), or E-Scripts. Be sure to ask for paper prescriptions and be sure the provider signs them with a pen. The provider or staff at BetterMed may tell you that they have called in or electronically submitted the prescriptions to Kenner but this is impossible and they have been calling them in to Off-Post retail pharmacies without notifying the patient. read more

Went in LAST August for a spider bite on my thumb. Spent 5 minutes with the Dr. He insulted me and way overmedicated. Paid $250 for that joy. Now almost a year later they have sent me a bill for an additional $223 dollars. When I called to find out what this was about they told me that it was a bill for the Drs time. That the $250 I paid the day of didn't cover that . What a rackett! They had no explanation for why they are sending this bill almost a year after the fact. I highly recommend this urgent care. I actually work in an urgent care facility but am not treated in that same facility due to age restrictions. I choose bettermed after going to my primary care and not getting any results. There was no wait, she checked me in, got me back to the room and the nurse was in right away. Being that I have front row experience in urgent care I was pleasantly shocked and it was appreciated. They were able to find a diagnoses my primary missed and I have recommended them every since. read more

Do not go here.. took my 7 mth Old daughter for vomiting. Dr Alyssa told me that she felt my daughter had an issue which may lead to surgery and sent us to an ER at St Mary's in Richmond. As any parent the word surgery makes you nervous and my daughter just had heart surgery..We went and sat there for over 3hrs. To come to find out that what she thought my daughter had was impossible due to it only happens to infants age 6weeks to 2 months old.. So now I have a unnecessary bill for the hospital and all she had was a little viral infection.. which could of been solved if Better Med did an X-ray like the hospital.. when I call to speak with Dr.Alyssa about what happen she was very rude and said my problem was not with her but with the ER doctors.. she even hung up..NO IT WAS DR ALYSSA FASLEY Diagnosing my daughter with something that she couldn't have had at her age... Even the Er doctors said they will be making phone calls due to this and her false diagnosis... I will not be returning and if she is there see another doctor... read more

I am shocked and appalled with lack of care and empathy I received at this clinic. My infant son has been sick and I think I got my illness from him but who really knows. I came in on Sunday (Valentines Day) for a severe cough, fever, and sore throat (because my general practitioners office was closed). They felt that a chest X-ray was nessesary to make sure I did not have pneumonia and then the Doctor did not even do a complete exam (he never even looked at my throat). After that, he told me to keep using the same over the counter medicine that I had been using (Zyrtec was one of them that I already take year round) and Afrin nasal spray. Does this guy think I hadn't tried that???This was a complete waste of my time and money (I'm sure this visit cost several hundred dollars). I called back the next morning (because it was a federal holiday and my Dr was not open till Tuesday) to complain of my symptoms. They keep getting worse (my back physically hurts from the coughing and Ive gotten no sleep in 3 nights)and they told me to try drinking some honey, Benedryl, and to sleep in a reclining chair. To me, that doesn't seem like a solution at all. I would have saved myself a lot of money and hassle just talking to a pharmacy tech at any random local pharmacy. Dr (I guess you can call him that) Brian McCauley had absolutely no empathy and took no time examining me. I would never ever see him again. My suggestion to anyone thinking of going to the Better Med in Prince George (or any location) is save your time and money (you can buy a lot of honey with what this place will charge you to tell you that and if you feel as sick as I do suggesting honey as a medicine is ridiculous).
