I…read morewent in to the emergency room after a visit patient first who told me that I had a lot of anomalies in my blood work along with a few other issues and they sent me straight to the emergency room. When I got there, they ran the initial blood tests and everything as well and found all of the same bloodwork anomalies. Well, all of the nurses in the ER were super nice, super helpful and helped me tremendously since I was by myself for quite some time. My boyfriend showed up and stayed with me until they were just getting ready to take me to a room, which was at 2 AM in the morning. So technically I'd sat in the ER room for 10 hours but because of all of the test testing and everything it pretty much went quickly. And I sent my boyfriend home around midnight to take care of our dogs. Anyways, the bathrooms in the ER we're fairly clean and well stocked. But you're also sharing bathrooms with 100 other people lol. When I finally got to my room, the nurse that was assigned to me on Night Shift got me hooked up to multiple multiple. IVs took vials and vials of blood and all the while making me feel very much at ease. I had this particular nurse for two nights in a row and she was nothing but sweet and kind. She allowed me to sleep through some of the things she had to do to get my vitals and everything. I ended up staying three nights and was allowed to be released Tuesday late evening. All of the food was not terrible lol not that I ate all that much. And the lady who delivered my food three times a day was the most happiest lady I've ever met. The only thing I hated was that because of all the IV lines and medication's and vials of blood being taken from me. I only had a short walk from my bed into the bathroom and couldn't even shut the door and had to wash my hands in the room because I couldn't even reach the sink in the bathroom. The doctor that was on the floor for most of my visit I found him kind of cocky at first, but as I got to know him better and was able to ask questions he turned out to be a pretty good guy. For those who were wondering, I had taken some water pills at home that were verbal apparently that depleted a lot of stuff in my system, including potassium, sodium, etc. So they got that fixed. Then the day before I was released, they found out I had pneumonia and had been misdiagnosed with bronchitis several weeks before and was on the wrong medication's and because that doctor had recommended me take Tylenol when I started running a fever somehow or other, I managed to overdose on Tylenol because it not only was in pill form, but it was also in other medication's. They had given me for the bronchitis so I had a whole lot of things going on, but I made it through. Happy to be home. I know this is a lot to read, but this is and was my experience.

Ended up another heart attack, failed stress test, ICU 4 days for 3rd stent that was needed in left main artery and was left 99%blockage, didn't know about. Dr told was very lucky. I was told to go to the restroom to give a sample and to leave it just outside the door on the tray. After that, I was told to just go sit in a chair between 2 curtains. I didn't like this area because it violated HIPAA in every way. There was NO privacy whatsoever. They come back to ask you what your issue is multiple times & EVERYONE can hear everything you say. What happened to the rooms with doors??? I didn't like that at all. Also, they lost my specimen & I had to do it again??? How did that happen??? They are disorganized, but the staff was somewhat friendly for the most part. When I was discharged, I noticed that the insurance person never came to me. I got my rx & it had a super old address on it. I don't even live in VA anymore, so I can foresee a lost bill in my future, so I will reach out to billing to get ahead of that mess. All in all, I was in and out within 2 hours. I can't be mad at that. They just need to get more organized, update patient demographics in the beginning, & protect the information of their patients.

And then tell them you're not talking about them espiecally when they are in the mental health unit. Let me tell you if you're planning on bringing a vulnerable loved one. Don't. Had a horrible experience. They let me go into the mental room with my phone. Had a lady look at me and proceed to TALK about how I was on my phone in a way that made it seem like I wasn't important or what I was feeling wasn't real. I then had nurses come in my room to TELL me no one had said anything. IMAGINE I was suffering from schizophrenia imagine I was suffering. Without even asking her which then she confirmed she did say something saying I wasn't even allowed to have my phone in the first place. Horrible please do not come here and if anyone from the department of health or anybody in any charge. Your patients have to hear Your staff talk and laugh outside rooms. My girlfriend is a nurse in the hospital and they are trained to not laughs and dilly dally. You never know what someone is going through and it is sick

But I always like to form my own opinions. So I decided to come here to get medical care. I planned to be here for at lease 5-6hours. Therefore I ate a nice lunch, brought me some chips and a soda. I also made sure I charged my phone and brought my tablet. Too my surprise this was about to be the most in and out hospital visit I've ever had. I arrived at 1:03pm (on a average Tuesday afternoon). I was greeted soon as I walked in. They also saw that I was hopping on my foot so they got me a wheelchair. At this point I was rolled straight to check in. After they checked me in, They took me to registration right away. While in registration they got my vitals & even the doctor came over to assess me. Right on the spot He ordered X-rays for my foot. Although I did wait a few moments (maybe 20 mins?) before they put me in a room. I was so amazed at how fast things was moving. Once I got in my room, a few moments later a nurse come and check on me. Then Another doctors came in to assess me and Even the X-ray unit came to me! I couldn't believe they took my X-rays right there in my room! I thought that was very innovative . After getting my X-rays taken, I experienced another brief wait as the doctored waited for my X-rays to view and give me my diagnosis . Maybe 20/30 mins later the doctor came in with her findings. Sprain ankle, They wrapped my foot real good.Gave me some pains meds, documents and a work note. I am so grateful for this painless process. Not even 3 hours later and I was ready to discharge. That was so fast!!! The staff here are amazing, attentive, comforting and knowledgeable! Sincerely a Happy patient.

My dr in NC told me to go to this ER specifically though I don't understand why. After reading their Google reviews, I was extremely hesitant to. I followed his advice though & went. Walking in, I felt like I was going to visit a friend in prison or something. I was met by an unfriendly officer at the metal detector entrance with his wand & rough demeanor. The way he tore through my purse looking for weapons and mace, you'd think I was getting booked. After I passed his "test", I was allowed to walk in to check in. The line was short to check in, BUT the sea of sick patients and their 1 visitor was abundant. There was literally like 2 seats available between 2 waiting areas. There were 3 officers sitting at the desk & I was very shocked when I was told there were 47 people ahead of me. 47??? Once I was triaged, I was taken directly to an ER room due to my condition. Lucky me...eyeroll. I was met by nurse Amanda who was funny, but the nurse practitioner was rude and told me that my NC dr botched my surgery. Ummm, what??? My surgery wasn't botched. They just didn't want to go behind what he did and cauterize the area that was bleeding. They tried to convince me to leave & not wait to speak to ENT. I waited anyway. The ENT specialist came in trying to gag me to death with the tongue suppressor and some other tool. Umm, HELLO!!! I had my surgery under anesthesia, so how the heck do you think you can try to do the same thing with me wide awake??? If I had any food in my stomach, I would've definitely thrown up on her. It would serve her right too!! The experience was painful & disturbing. After that, I was admitted for observation. Every single nurse/care partner I met in the CPU department were great. They clearly love their jobs. The ER staff needs to take some notes. I ended up being discharged this morning. They still didn't cauterize the area. They just "watched" me overnight to make sure it didn't bleed & then they told me to stay on a liquid diet until the weekend in hopes that the area will heal. I somewhat recommend them. I feel that if they would've cauterized the area, I wouldn't have to worry about the issue anymore. Instead, I have to HOPE it doesn't bleed again & if it does, come back to them. That is a complete waste of time and money. Just do it right the first time. Oh, and one more thing...please protect yourself in the ER waiting room. It is dirty, social distancing isn't even possible, and almost no one is wearing their masks correctly. I felt like I was going to get sick just sitting around some of those patients. It is completely disgusting.
