After doing a lot of research on eyelash extensions I decided to go to Betty Lash to see what all the hoopla was about. I found Betty Lash on Xtreme Lashes website. I thought I would be able to see the stylist that is listed on Xtreme''s site, Kate Merrick, but when I called to schedule an appointment I was told that she was not available, and didn't appear to be available. I said I would see someone else, and did. The stylist was polite and did a decent job, but I was not blown away, like I expected to be. I have great natural lashes, and heard horror stories, so I know it was not my lashes that were the problem. What I was MOST alarmed about was the pricing structure. It goes from $175-$550 for a full set. How am I supposed to know what I personally am going to look like after they are finished doing my lashes until it is over and done with? I was told my eyes would be taped and I could not open them to see...so choosing which package I wanted was very difficult. Once I was finished the stylist tried to sell me lash packages, and many products. I got one fill with my package, and took immaculate care of my lashes as instructed and came back in two weeks with not many lashes still left. towards the end of the appointment the stylist told me that I could use more lashes and that there would be an additional price for that. Am I supposed to say "No, leave me looking half done?" So I told her to make it look the best she could and paid the difference. I made my appointment for the next fill, and went home and did some research on other stylist that I had also found, and none of them charged pricing this way. All of them were flat rates-not priced by the number of lashes applied while your eyes are taped shut. How was I to know that I was actually getting the number of lashes i was paying for, I felt like I was at their mercy,. Once I realized there were other equally qualified salons and stylists in Austin who could do as good of a job, or better, and I could get the full deal without paying extra I called and cancelled my appointment....and was told that if I had gone somewhere else and "transferred" back to them there was a $25 fee to come back. WHAT? Are you kidding. They won't have to worry about me coming back. Oh, and the best part was the bad attitude and sarcastic attitude I got was free! read more

So, the craziest thing happened at Betty Lash! I am so impressed by it I still can't stop talking about what they did for me. I had already been and had great experiences and amazing lashes compared to anywhere else, but the staff usually seemed overbooked (it is sometimes hard to get in because they are pretty busy). This last time I called to book I got a much more cheerful gal than usual who took my appointment. I told her I wanted to book on Saturday, meaning the next day, but there was confusion and she thought I meant the following Saturday. I didn't realize that, but she was sweet and we completed the booking and we hung up. Then I realized I never told her I meant in the next 12 hours, so I called back and said "did you understand that I mean tomorrow?" She was immediately so apologetic. I told her it was my fault, but within minutes I was the owner of a $100 GIFT CERTIFICATE! I couldn't believe it. She told me there is a new owner who is trying to reverse a lot of the negative feedback people had given before her ownership. The new owner has even been sending stuff to people apologizing for complaints taken before she bought the place! Who does that?? She said they won't let a single soul go disappointed under the new owner's watch. Well, I can tell you, there is no disappointment here. I almost feel bad using the gift certificate. I love their lashes and the quality is way above the rest, so I know I will put it to good use. Unfortunately, I DO need the gift certificate to put towards a new set of lashes because I was a goofball and let them go too long. They always tell me to refill before three weeks is up. Now I know why. I can't imagine why anyone would say a negative thing about this place to begin with. I have always viewed them as above par. I just wanted to share my amazing eyebrow Microblading experience by Melinda at Betty Lash Spa. It was pretty nerve-wrecking as I've never even gotten a tattoo, but she explained the process so thoroughly I knew I was in good hands. It was also comforting to know that Melinda also trains other service providers, so she's definitely an expert. They apply numbing cream on and around your eyebrows - and boy does that stuff work! My forehead felt like a rock, which is good! I felt no pain at all and I was worried for nothing. As she began the microblading process, it felt like little pencil marks were being drawn on my brows. Anyway, she nailed the shape I was looking for and I am just thrilled with the results!!! It's crazy how it works - little fine lines that look exactly like little eyebrow hairs. For anyone else who is interested in Microblading - just know that your eyebrows will be super dark the first few days! But then they lighten up to the perfect shade. I am on my 6th day right now and I already see them lightening. As a woman of a certain age and a breast cancer survivor, it was with more than a little trepidation that I bared it all for a spray tan today. Betty Lash supports the Breast Cancer Resource Center's signature fundraiser, Art Bra Austin, with complimentary spray tans for runway and floor models. The event is this Saturday and I was more than a little nervous about looking like Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars, lol I'm thrilled to say I look like nothing close to a traffic cone! Not only does my medium dark tan look totally natural, no streaking, etc., but the experience itself was wonderful. My technician was Stacy and she couldn't have been more personable, thoughtful, and professional. She made me feel totally at ease and did a beautiful (and very fast) job. The salon is very girly and glamorous and just makes you feel so "worth it." I started going to Betty Lash for eye lash extensions January 2011 and have been going for about 2 weeks every month since then. Needless to say, I LOVE MY LASHES. I am addicted. I receive compliments everywhere I go, and have had 0 problems with them. I started with the "Betty Lash" and now I get the "Betty, Diva or Glam" fill. It is so nice to just wake up and go, as apposed to applying mascara every morning. I love the atmosphere (they have recently moved locations, so make sure you are going to the right location) with a spa feel. The private rooms and girly decor are wonderful. I most always fall asleep during my appointment because I am so relaxed. Everyone who works their are so helpful and patient with trying to squeeze you into its busy schedule. I have moved back to Houston, and will try to commute as much as possible to continue to go to Betty Lash for my last extensions. What can I say about Betty Lash? Well I had an eyebrow shaping, eyelash tint, Strip Eyelash Application, and a makeover with a lesson. The first two were with Erin, and she did a great job. and then Kristy did my makeover. She can do things with a brush that can take even the roughest face and make a charming beauty out of it. That is saying a lot because I am not the pretty by a long shot. If Kristy can make me look and fell pretty imagine what she can do for you. The only negative was I wish I had my contacts for the lesson. My bad!! They were courteous, respectful and just fun to be with. Kind of did not want to leave. Being my first time experiencing the greatness of lash extensions, I fell in love with my results. From start to finish, the staff was incredibly sweet, spa was clean and quite. Kathryn walked me through what to expect and very accommodating to my nervousness during the process. I did have slight irritation on my lower eyelid which was a normal part of the process for some, which did subside after the process was complete. I have not had any issues since and my eyelashes are perfect. I felt like the staff really takes pride in their work and put a lot of effort in perfecting the techniques. I'm new to eyelash extensions and had driven past this place before so I decided to check it out. The girls inside were great and very helpful, but when I was introduced to the owner, Kate, and asked for a simple consultation explaining the services I was met with disgust. She was uppity, condescending, and everything that is obnoxious about the west side of Austin. From what I witnessed, the treatment of her staff was horrible and I left shortly after arriving. I had the best experience when I went to Betty Lash. I went to get lashes because my friend went there and they looked great. They don't look fake, in fact they look really real! The service there was great, the girls I talked to were really down to earth and sweet. The spa itself is really calming, I actually fell asleep when I was getting my lashes done. My first experience was amazing. When you first walk into Betty Lash, it is beyond beautiful and girlie in every way! I am forever in love with my Rose Gold eyeliner I purchased. First of all, this is the most adorable place ever! All the employees are super sweet and helpful but my favorite is Andrea Day. She does my lash tinting, extensions, organic sunless tan and waxing. I always get complements on my lashes and tan but only a few people know that my tan is not natural. I always feel special when I'm there, not just another customer.
