Just to order was a 10 min wait and another 10 to get a well done bagel with scallion cream cheese. Bagel...meh...very chewy but no bite or crunch. They said they were out of fresh brewed iced tea but we noticed while waiting for bagel it was available. Tables wobbly and not clean. Not impressed by the bagel or store and would pass in the future. Plenty of parking in very busy strip mall. read more

I stopped in for a late lunch after grocery shopping in the plaza. I ordered two sandwiches. I noticed the clerk added a $5 tip, which I did not authorize. I finished my bagel, and brought the discrepancy to a staff member's attention. She told me she would credit the $5 back. I got a bad feeling, and do not plan to go back. I did not get the correction in my account yet, two days later. The dining room was really messy. Last visit for me - Vernon branch is more inviting. This store has been here for decades but it's been updated in the last few, and the layout feels improved. Coffee and bagel standards are here but also novelties. You can find lox, cream cheese, onion and tomato, but bacon jalapeño scallion cream cheese was a fun treat. Pastries are part of the order line instead of the faraway case of old, so your breakfast decision gets tougher. Wraps and sandwiches make this a lunch friendly spot after breakfast/brunch hours, if not dinner since the store's open until 8 pm, The staff were friendly for the busy Saturday morning order line, and the cute mugs and tea tins are still for sale if you need a quick gift. Local art takes this place up a notch further. Pleasant Valley is a busy commercial area with a weird parking lot, but this place is always a treat. read more

The best part of my experience here was leaving. The employee was not friendly at all. It was borderline rude with the communication. We ordered two TomTom clubs with light Mayo and a coffee. Club sandwiches are my favorite so I was pretty excited to find a place that reportedly made good ones. The total was $26. When we received them, we were not expecting what we got. First, it was smothered in Mayo, it took 2 napkins to wipe off the excess. And there was no separation of sandwich. The pickle was flaccid and tasted of pure vinegar like it's just an off brand jar from big lots. Between Rounds is more of a nostalgia visit than anything else. Growing up I used to love coming here. But remodel after remodel, the service seems to get slower and slower. The bagels are ok, the coffee is pretty good, and the wait time is abysmal. Breakfast? Ham, egg, and cheese on a cornmeal bagel. I know...cornmeal? Well, it's hard to find and I like the texture. It's not a balance of flavor, so you're going to want to augment with good fillings. Ham, egg, and cheese is usually a pretty good choice but at this point it's one slice of microscopically thin ham and just a little cheese. Meh. Lunch? My go-to in high school was tuna on an everything, toasted, with lettuce, tomato, and onions, two pickles on the side. I haven't had it in forever...but here's hoping that hasn't been remodeled off the menu. Last time I was here I waited 15 minutes for my bagel. What. Why. How. The upside to that wait was that I was able to down three large iced coffees (free refills still exist here, thankfully) while waiting, so at the very least my day was extremely caffeinated. One last note: I noticed some heavy use of the microwave (I'm not going to ding them for that) but.... every. single. egg. thing. got. a. new. plastic. container. which. was. then. thrown. into. a. bucket. I went during a very quiet time on Saturday (3 pm) and had the splendid pleasure of being served by one of the young ladies. She might have been new, but she was sweet and professional. She made her fourth Reuben sandwich for me--it was really tasty. (And she asked for feedback when I had finished eating and was just lounging at my table. A growth mindset is lovely.) I chose to have it on an everything bagel--to heck with rye bread, I want an everything every time now xD I also picked out a dessert from the display along the counter: apple-caramel crumble cake. This spot happens to be next door to my job. On those days where I don't have a chance to grab breakfast before work, it's convenient to walk over and grab a bite. I've gone in a few times and always receive warm and friendly service. The employees are delightful! Plus, the pastries are good (sometimes they can be too sweet, but that is a personal preference‍). I gave a star for each of those positives. I've tried the breakfast sandwiches (the Woodstock and a classic egg and cheese on a croissant) and was highly disappointed. There is NO flavor! It's like eating cardboard with veggies on top while swimming in mayo. I know and egg and cheese isn't much, but they don't even sprinkle a hint of black pepper or salt. Just dry egg with almost melted cheese. The croissant was very good though. I guess for a place where I see so many people all the time, my expectations were higher than they should have been? The service and atmosphere is why I have become a regular here. They offer free WiFi allowing me to work while having my morning coffee and bagel stick. I like the selection of coffees and being allowed to make my own coffee with right amount of milk and sugar at coffee bar. Bagels are baked and I like the whipped cream cheese better than another National chain. They also offer bagel sticks which I like better than an entire bagel. I've been going here since 2000. Even though I no longer live in this part of CT I can still say that this is my favorite place to get a good bagel in the state. Having grown up on Long Island, where there is literally a bagel shop on practically every corner, that is a high compliment indeed! Their bagels are fresh and chewy and don't need to be toasted as they do at other lesser places. I love their cheddar bagel- cheesy and delicious! They have an assortment of homemade cream cheeses which are all tasty and yummy. You can also get a bagel sandwich with sausage/bacon/egg/cheese, or with high quality Boar's Head meats. And if you're looking for a small gift for someone, they continue to have a collection of unique coffee mugs etc. that you can purchase. The only negative (which is why I cannot give this place 5 stars) is that the prices are a bit high- $5 for a bagel with sausage/egg/cheese is a bit much. Both girls at the counter seemed absolutely miserable, no greeting when we walked up, after each item I asked for I got "anything else" but in the tone that if I asked for anything else I'd get an eye roll back. They started to make our order without telling us the price or taking a payment, just walked away and left us standing at the register confused. After we paid we moved to the pick up counter where an older woman came out of the back and just stared at us each time she walked by, no hello just stared each time, probably 3 or 4 times she walked by as if we were doing something wrong. If i could give zero stars I would. Wanted to get a quick bagel before I make my way out to New York. When I walked in, NO ONE I REPEAT, NO ONE was there. There were about 2 guests in the restaurant but the workers were nowhere to be found. I was at the cashiers desk for about 5 mins hoping someone would of came and take my order. Nope.
