I was owed 25 cents in return. Before she finished our transaction, she rang up another person. I don't think I will return, as the clerk was impatient and not helpful. I was gifted a lovely box of mixed chocolates from this lovely shop by a former Valentine. It was the first time I truly enjoyed every piece. So beautiful and so delicious. I was able to try another Bevan chocolates every time we visited his little sister. She fancied the 'Thin mints.' Those then became my favorites. So today I have 3 special gifts to pick up and I'm doing it here at Bevan's. Marshmallow caramels and two thin mints. Lovely staff here. Wonderful nostalgic atmosphere. Old photos. A friend gave me a box of assorted chocolates for Christmas and they were so tasty that I had to come check this place out myself. I must have passed it a ton of times so I'm glad my friend introduced me to this amazing chocolate. The candy tastes so fresh that it's hard to stop eating it. They a bunch of cool options and I know this place will be busy for the upcoming Vday holiday. The staff was very nice and helpful. This little shop is so cute, and the workers are so sweet! I came in to pick up an order I had placed and didn't realize they're cash or check only (usually I'm good about checking!). Wawa is right up the road if you make the same mistake I did. When I arrived, it was close to their closing time but they were still very patient and kind. When I asked about a certain candy, I was given a sample to take home and ohmygosh it was delicious. I love this shop! There was a line when I got there around 10:15z. It went quickly and It was nice to see covid precautions in place. Wow! Such a cute n charming little store. I was very impressed that they've been a media staple for 50 YEARS. The milk chocolates are veryyy smooth and creamy. We got some peanut butter filled ducks, rabbits and small coconut cream eggs. So yummy! We bought some dark chocolate cream eggs as well and the dark is not as nice as the milk, imo, but still good. The store, taking almost a half a block between State Street and Baltimore Pike in Media, specializes in hand-made candies and chocolate. And their menus and offerings change with the calendar. I grew up in Media, and Bevan's has been around forever. We always had special Bevan's chocolate bunnies and custom eggs in our Easter basket every year. The dark chocolate is on par with European darks I have known and loved. Silky smooth and delicious. My husband, who grew up in the CT burbs, was deprived of Bevan's. I bought him his first chocolate bunny this year, and every time he comes home from work, he disappears into the kitchen, and reappears with chocolate at the corners of his lips. Coconut cream is EXCELLENT! LOVE IT! Service was great, and the one blonde woman who I had (twice in the same week b/c I had to go back for more) was really sweet and helpful. It should be noted that Bevan's is CASH OR CHECK ONLY, which I don't think others have mentioned, and is kind of a stand-out these days, so arrive prepared. Well worth the money! I stepped into the Bevan's store and was instantly sent back in time. Each spring my parents bought my brother and I large coconut cream eggs with our names written in them. They were always the highlight of our Easter baskets and savored for weeks following. This year, I went back in time and visited Bevan's. I bought my dad an egg with his name on it and sent it to him. We live in different states now but I thought it would be fun to send him a memory from the past. When we moved to Media a couple years ago I was so excited to see there was a homemade chocolate shop! My husband and I stopped in to try a couple things and were so impressed. The inside of the shop is adorable and smells amazing. The owner was so sweet and welcoming. You can really tell she loves what she does! The white chocolate is so smooth and well rounded. My favorite ended up being the dark chocolate creams! They have a very nice variety. We brought a box of assorted to my family Christmas dinner and since then they've been requested at every holiday! The selection in the store is good especially considering the small size of the showroom. I have tried only a few of my purchases, and found them to be better than average. The dark chocolate is a bit bitter and not as smooth as some of the higher end chocolates that I have had, but you can certainly do worse. I purchased a number of interesting items for my children for easter, chocolate dipped pretzel bunnies, chocolate covered coffee beans etc. They have yet to try them so the jury is still out on those. What one should be aware of the the extremely rude service that you will encounter. The store has been at its current location for more than 50 years, so I suspect that most of their customers are well known to them. If you are a new customer it seems that they do not really want your business. I was purchasing over 10 items, and they do not provide any carrying baskets etc. I initially tried to hold all of them, and despite looking right at me none of the three employees offered to help me. I eventually placed the items on the counter to better allow me to shop and was given a dirty look. When I had finished shopping I stood in front of my items for almost a minute without any service. The employee was not occupied at the time and even once stared right at me without saying anything. Only when I asked to check out did she start ringing my items up. She promptly dropped one of my items on the floor, and broke it. Rather than saying she was sorry she just continued ringing up the other items, When I went to pick up the broken item and put it aside she curtly said "just give it to me". When everything was finally tallied, I pulled out my credit card and was informed that they did not take credit cards. Rather than waiting for me to get some cash she literally walked away from me. I am not sure if she thought that someone like me did not carry that much cash or what, but her actions were completely dumbfounding. So if you are looking for homemade chocolates in Media, they are your only real option. The samples and the selection are pretty good, just be prepared for rude service. read more

Having grown up in Springfield, I can credit Bevan's for introducing me to and subsequently addicting me to chocolate covered pretzels - of which theirs are the my absolute favorite. Mediocre Candy, RUDE sales ladies. The candy is just okay. Some appears to not be made there, but it's unclear. The worst part about this place is that the sales ladies act inconvenienced when you show up to buy something. There is limited parking, the shop is as big as a large bathroom, the candy is just okay (Trader Joe's is right up the street and has much better candy, and better prices!!!!!!!), but the arrogance and condescending attitude, especially from the one lady who is always coiffed and made-up, is not worth the trip. read more
