I suppose a restaurant almost has a disadvantage when one has heard endlessly about how fantastic it is, thus setting one's expectations quite high when making one's reservation. A friend and I came by for a quiet supper to catch up and hopefully have an enjoyable dining experience. To start off, the Caesar salad and focaccia were indeed quite tasty. After being talked into trying the tasting menu, I was disheartened upon taking my first bite of the chicken Parmigiana and accompanying pasta. Both seemed as if they had been sitting for a while and then were unevenly reheated. The pasta, in particular, was lackluster and worse than anything I might have hurriedly boiled at eleven at night upon arriving home after a long trip and finding only packaged pasta and canned tomato sauce in the cupboard. But I could have lived with all of this had it not been for the service. Clearly my friend and I were the afterthought of all afterthoughts to our disinterested waitress. After hounding us to order before we had properly reviewed the menu, she promptly put us on the pay-no-mind list, as dirty dish after dirty dish accumulated at the table from the tasting menu she had so strongly urged me to try. I also abhor cheapness on the part of restaurants. Would it have killed Rosemary to offer us a second piece of focaccia, given that there were two of us and the portion was a better fit for just one? Lest anyone accuse me of having expected the waitstaff to read my mind, I indeed asked. It's not like we weren't spending a pretty penny there. The business could have well afforded to allow each of us a reasonable portion of its much-touted starter. After we finally managed to flag down our waitress amid the plethora of dirty dishes still sporting some of the mediocre food, I paid in cash on account of the restaurant informing me on the bill that a surcharge would be applied to a credit card transaction. Another joy! When the waitress took the note, she said, "Thank you," and that was that. I decided against calling after her to request change since it was one of those borderline instances where the note was close enough to twenty percent that it is a bit awkward to request someone return with change. So she walked off with a 26% or so tip after having left us on the dining equivalent of "read" the entire night. And then there's the issue of price: While not outrageous, everything is 15-20% more expensive than it should be, and after one pauses to think about it, the tasting menu offers barely any deal at all. If one orders the chicken like I did, it is no cheaper than ordering the starter, entrée, and dessert à la carte. If Rosemary had also offered, say, a soup, then it would be a deal. But clearly generosity is not in its owner's purview. The tiramisu, I will say, was excellent, and my friend and I enjoyed every morsel, and for that reason, along with the Caesar salad, I can muster three stars. Had I not walked through the door having heard so many people rave about Rosemary, perhaps I would have found it to be a restaurant with a pleasant ambiance, a good appetizer, and fine dessert despite a thoroughly middling entrée. But a Delco gem it is not. read more

I, like other reviewers, received a solid block of inedible meat instead of the short rib I ordered. Fortunately, I was served a different dish after I demonstrated I couldn't cut into the short rib with the knife I was given. As for the rest of the experience, the service was nice if a little difficult to grab, it's quite noisy inside, and the drinks were meh. Rosemary is a pleasant addition to Delco. I no longer live in the area, so when a friend told me about the menu I was happy to hear about something modern opening up. We ordered the Mediterranean pizza with hot honey, wings, cocktails, and a few oysters. Oysters were shucked well. The pizza was delicious. I look forward to dining again. Time to get your Happy on at one of *the* best places for Happy Hour! Great drink selections--the signature named "Rosemary" is a wonderful concoction made with tequila and garnished with a blood orange slice. The espresso martinis are wonderful too. Our light dinner included Smash burgers w/pickled onion one sans the bun so it's gluten friendly, an ample portion of very shareable truffled and dusted with Parmesan fries. The fries are the best in these parts--crispy outside and moist airy inside. The wild card was the roasted beet salad with cashew and whipped ricotta. The beet salad was delicious and paired well with all the other flavors including the tequila drinks. Such a cool welcoming vibe and the staff is always courteous and very professional too. We experienced a few unacceptable issues here. Overall, the restaurant is far below what it was when first opened. -Made a reservation for main dining room. When we arrived we were seated at a high top in the bar area because the main dining room was full with a paint and drink class. Literally, full of people with easels on tables painting still life's. Not the atmosphere we were expecting. -Shrimp cocktail...love a chilled shrimp cocktail. Our's arrived partly frozen. -Short rib...literally a solid block of inedible meat. -Pasta- it's nice they get pasta from Talluto's but the chef needs to learn how to cook it. Pasta came with 2 of our entrees. Overcooked blobs of pasta in a sauce that was below par. I would request they remove my name from the menu if I were Tallutos'. We left good portions of our meals uneaten. No one asked why. We should have complained then but clearly no one cared. And...it's not an inexpensive place. Pricey! Outstanding food and service. If you're in Ridley Park area, definitely check out this restaurant. It's a good place for a date or just to spend a nice meal with friends or family. It's intimate, clean, well lit, and not too cramped. While waiting for our friends to arrive, my husband and I were sitting at the bar and ordered some cocktails. I had "the Gracie" and I enjoyed it. It's vodka with orange liqueur , lime juice, and pomegranate. Not overly sweet. Burrata is fresh served with homemade thin pita chips . It has a spicy kick, very addicting. Focaccia: it's warm, light and airy served with butter with a hint of garlic. Crab cakes: two thin patties of fresh crab with remoulade and arugula. No fliings and well seasoned without being over salted. Marinated beets: served with ricotta, radish, and pistachios is another delightful small plates. Sweet potatoes: it's my first time encountering sweet potatoes served with tahini, chili jam, and cilantro. However all of these works well with the sweet potatoes. Definitely worth to try. Fingerlings: potatoes are so crispy served with roasted red peppers and some herbed cream. It's another winner. Mussels: big serving size, fresh with light yet flavorful broth served with a nicely toasted bread. Pork chops: perfectly cooked and juicy. Beautifully plated on top of smooth polenta, topped with pancetta, with vibrant salsa verde framing the dish. It looks so elegant. Spaghetti and rigatoni are al dente and have good serving size. Chef George Sabatino with his experience at Safran Turney Hospitality under his belt definitely shows his culinary skills in all the dishes that he serves. Ou waitress is knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. The owner and chef are awesome, approachable, and down to earth. Twenty minutes after we were seated, the bartender brought us menus and took our drink and app. order. 45 minutes after we were seated the bar back was walking to our table with ONE of our drinks. By that time we were standing and putting on our coats to leave. Service was ridiculous. My biggest complaint is that there was no mention on their website that there would be a special menu for Valentine's Day weekend. There were way fewer options for this menu and the tasting menu was $20 more expensive than what was advertised on their website (for the same food). I have dined at this restaurant several times since reading about it opening in Philadelphia magazine. The space has always been almost unbearably loud but being impressed by the food during our first visit we went again with a noticeable change int he food, selections and portion size. The third and last time we went was the worst. We had terrible service, again very loud especially for not being very busy an placed next to the kitchen when I had specified a particular table ( not the one we were seated at for my elderly mother). Our food came out in cardboard boats which got very messy and soaked through. Overall a very steady decline in both food selection and quality and overall service. read more

No words to describe the food except one AMAZING. It's a I want to kiss the chef type of restaurant. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was Joanne (she was just shadowing) and she was fabulous again 5 stars. Joanne provided her delicious recommendations which we ordered. Every time we go we will request Joanne. There is so many bursts of flavors it's unexplainable. It's 4th of July fireworks in your mouth. I am in heaven that Rosemary is down the street from me. I no longer have to go to center city for 5 star food and service. Burratta Toast sweet and delicious. Pesto herb earthy fresh flavor with sweet savory strawberry purée. Brussel Caesar Salad with fresh Parmesan and pancetta - this was good maybe a little too much Caesar but still delicious. Could of had more pancetta but I am also one of those bacon everything people. Charred Octopus - the best I have ever had in my life. There was 8 different delicious flavors. Dinner: Peruvian Chicken - my husband actually dumped the sauces that were on the charred octopus plate added to the chicken. Very good Salmon - Joanne our waitress raved about this dish she was so passionate explaining this recommendation it was a must to try. And we were extremely happy with the choice. Such a cute spot for a nice dinner date or just catching up with friends. Food was OK but the service was great and drinks were delicious. I would definitely say that I prefer the small plates /appetizers over the pastas and dinner platters. I felt the platters were a bit bland and needed some salt or more depth to it. Ordered take out from Rosemary's restaurant, it was the worst hamburger we have ever had. First of all we ordered cheeseburgers, but we received hamburgers with no cheese. They were so over cooked you could hardly chew the meat. Have eaten at Rosemary's a few times and each time it has gotten worse. We thought we would just try takeout burgers, thinking how can you mess that up, but they did! Last time we will ever eat there, and will tell our friends about it too. read more

Had to try the new happening spot in Ridley Park (Delco). Heard a lot of great things about chef Elijah Mitchell so I HAD to come try his menu. Believe the hype because our table left satisfied. Rosemary has a variety of flavor profiles to choose from the menu so basically there's fun for everyone. Started with some cocktails (spicy margs) and apps. Burrata Toast is a must have. Mains include different pasta dishes. If you like lamb please do yourself a favor and get the Smoked Lamb Mafaldine. Flavorful, comforting, and something you'll probably come back for. The ambience felt similar to something you'd find in center. High bar, great lighting with patrons hustling and bustling. Came during the first few weeks of opening so chef Mitchell was on the floor checking on guests. Nice treat to an overall great experience. read more

Caesar salad was insanely salty so I sent it back and they gave me a new one - it was still so salty it literally just tasted like salty lettuce. No apology or change....then I ordered the "Vodka-Roni" pizza and it was regular marinara sauce that tasted like it was from a can (not vodka sauce) and pepperoni with hot honey drenched on it. Not good. Service was horrible. We had to call our waitress from across the room multiple times because she wasn't coming to our table. Disappointed because it seems like they are giving cheap food and cutting corners for high prices. Wow. Only been open 2 weeks and it's amazing. Parking can be a challenge (street parking) - but one of the owners showed us which spots were 3 hour spots and the greeter gave us the coins to pay the meter - problem solved. Started with a cocktail - we tried 2 different ones - and they were very good. Started with an amazing broiled oyster app and an over the top delicious shrimp appetizer. We then tried the Peruvian chicken (phenomenal - moist, complex flavors with way it was cooked and the sauces) and the cowboy pork chop (so tender and had a berry sauce - delicious). They do like to minimize substitutions (and we both have dietary restrictions) but they made it happen. We also tried the best broccolini we've ever had (along with the best oysters and pork). Just from reading and seeing the few pictures I saw, I knew this place would be a winner for me. I wondered if other people would notice and attend as many of the parking meters are only 30 - 60 min and no credit cards taken at meter either. Ridley Park needs to update their meters to allow more accessibility to stay in downtown longer to have more variety of establishments like this one. A classy foodie's dream. Come here for small portions but really super well done food. Great place for dining or a classy date. Maybe not for a typical first date unless you and your date happen to be big time foodies or you are into the restaurant business. Don't come here for cheaper eats - many other places for that kind of style. Everything was flavorful, juicy, and/or fresh from the slightly crunchy focaccia with flavored butter spread to the blackened fish w potato seasoned sauce to the pistachio Neapolitan like layered cake. My friend has a duck pasta and it was made great for his palate and disposition. He helped me realize how smart it was to use the duck skin and fry it into crumb bits to put on the pasta. I would've personally preferred the greasier crispy duck skin and duck meat with the pasta but that is personal preference. I also prefer Far East Descendant's coffee martini over the one here but the one here is well done too. I am not sure what they do there that is different than here. A beautiful dining area- nothing outrageous or anything of that nature and all focused on class, elegance, and decor. A complete makeover from the Burgundy Lounge and a great makeover it is! There was barely enough room to have two seats at the bar and this place was reserved up the wazoo otherwise on only the 3rd day for its soft opening. I was also surprised to be asked if I had been here before as it was only its third day open. It probably would have been true if I was able to find out when they opened as I did try to inquire online beforehand. The person who I believe is the owner told me that he expected me back and that did go without saying. This place is here to stay and has become one of my favorite dinner spots. read more

YO! This place is no joke - get all the perks of style, execution, and flavor of a center city restaurant, but without the the hassle of actually having to be in the city. Blown away by their brunch, but it started with the service. When we pulled up to this the main drag in Ridley Park, we were able to get parking right outside the restaurant. My wife went inside to get our table and I was walking across the street to the 7-11 to get quarters for metered parking. I was stopped by a gentleman who chased me down, noticing my wife and I split ways, and he let me know that the host/hostess has quarters to pay for your meter. INCREDIBLE! (It is a quarter for 20 mins, for what it's worth.) Our server inside was attentive and friendly, and you could just see the team there really is clicking on all cylinders. We ordered their biscuits with smoked honey butter as an appetizer...dang! Let me tell you, these jawns were warm, flaky, and salty. The butter was fire and was soaked up nicely by the dense biscuit layers. I ordered the steak and eggs, and felt like it challenged any great breakfast dish I have ever ordered. The steak was cooked medium, and was just down right delicious. Topped with a chimichurri sauce, it paired so wel with the creamy eggs and crispy potatoes. On top of that, you get bone marrow with it, and that tied it all together with an umami finish. The decor in here was tasteful as well - very relaxing. Their main color palette centered around sage/evergreen finish that circled the restaurant and complimented the hardwood flooring. Rosemary has the look and ambience of a restaurant in the city with lots of wood and up lighting yet none of the parking costs. We parked across the street from the restaurant and put a few quarters in the meter. Our table was in a quiet corner amidst throw pillows, and we were promptly greeted by our server. We started with the Old Pal and Rosemary cocktails which were good with the latter tasting like a refreshing margarita. I chose the octopus as an appetizer which was delicious with the sun dried tomato jam and trout roe. The flavors melded together beautifully especially with the accompaniment of fresh cilantro. My husband liked his Mountain Apple Rose Salad. For his entree, he went with the Smoked Lamb Mafaldine which he said could have been warmer while I had the scallops with lobster risotto which was good. We came for brunch on a Sunday. No wait, but there were plenty of other people. The menu was one page but varied and interesting. We ordered a Dutch baby and a steak with eggs and bone marrow. Instead of medium rare, our steak came out well done, but they fixed it by making a second full dish that was definitely fairly rare. Came here with a large party recently and found myself pleasantly enjoying the cozy atmosphere and "fancy basement" vibes of the place. Perfect for intimacy with friends or a date. The main waitress was wonderful and attentive and I would've said the service was 10/10 if her colleague hadn't confused the orders and gave me a plate not meant for me. Without reviews of the selections or menu pictures, some of these dishes were unfamiliar to my table as to whose was whose (the mixup was pasta type). The food itself was delicious, from appetizers to end. However my friends mentioned the drinks were just sub par and the best was the gin and tonic. Highlight foods were the Brussels sprout salad (consider making it a main because it was delicious!), the chicken (huge portions!), and the lamb pasta. Would return again because one little mishap will not keep me from great food! Warning to those who may order the steak: not worth the price. Tried Rosemary for Brunch this Sunday morning, was very happy with the food, and also the service. I had the Breakfast burger, burger was a touch on the salty side, but it was very good overall, loved the pickled onions, it came with potatoes on the side, they were very good. I also had a side of maple bacon, that was delicious. Wife had Avocado Toast, and a Side Gem Salad, both were very good she said. In-laws had a breakfast burger and the breakfast platter, all the food was good tasting and of high quality. Paige was our server, and she did a great job of taking care of us, checking in on us here and there, great job. Avoid the cacio e pepe. It was by far the worst version we've ever had. The sauce was soupy and didn't stick to the pasta. They also served the wrong pasta. We met friends at this new place in quaint Ridley Park. Delco doesn't have too many dinner spots with elevated menus and good cocktails. The outside is fresh and welcoming. Easy to make reservations using the Resy app. We were promptly seated at 7:00 our table was ready. The restaurant has three seating options the main dining room is on the louder side and very lively. The Sun room was more quaint and quiet and enjoyable for us to talk. The third option is sidewalk dining. The menu has all palates from beef , fish , shellfish, pork and vegetarian pasta options. We started with drinks we had the vogue which is similar to a cosmopolitan boozy and delicious. We also opted for 2 gin and Tonic drinks made with aviation. We also opted for rye Manhattan all boozy and delicious start to our dinner. Served in beautiful glassware and garnished well. We started with three apps to sample the menu we had the stone fruit salad which was well seasoned and fresh . We had the beef skewers which was so good definitely a Mediterranean vibe app served on a seasoned flatbread. We also shared the burrata toast. This has fresh strawberries and pesto all in all great flavors and looked very appealing . For entrees two of us had the burger which was very tasty two thin Patty's with cheese and a tomato jam served with French fries. All in all we loved this pick. One person had the scallop risotto with shrimp which was also very good hard to see the lobster in the risotto the dish came with 3 seared and seasoned scallops over the risotto. The last opted for the pork rib eye. This was cooked to perfection and salted perfectly. We added on the marbled potatoes for a side share. We finished off with a second round of drinks . Michaela was a great waitress checking in on us and making sure we were good. Ambiance good , drinks good , food good a trifecta of goodness. Don't sleep on this place. Very good ! Wow great first meal at Rose it was was FANTASTIC! Highly recommended if you like good food lol. Service was very impressive, our waitress was very attentive and the owner came over to check on us multiple times throughout the night. We ordered the octopus to start and got the crab ravioli, scallops, mushroom bucatini, and fish as entrees. All were delicious and unique! Mixed drinks were great as well, highly recommend the Rosemary. For dessert we had the pistachio ricotta cake that was from the bakery down the street. It was amazing! Bad in so many ways. The first minor annoyance was they called & left a message to confirm the reservation, so I had to call back. No simple text to confirm. They have a very limited house-only wine menu, and they were out of some of that. They were out of bread. Strange at 7:30. The food was between mediocre and bad, and the chocolate cake dessert would be considered good only if an 8 year old made it. 1 layer sheet cake with goopy salty icing. The rigatoni was alright - what you would make on a Tuesday with limited time. The pork chop was strangely terrible. How do you mess up a pork chop? It turns out one way is to serve it with some sort of ice cold weird sauce. Oyster tasted like citrus not a hint of that delicious salty liquor that you eat oyster for came through...guess that's why there a buck! Must be hiding something... Located in the heart of the quaint village of Ridley Park, Rosemary styles itself as an upscale inner city restaurant conveniently located for folks who folks who love nearby. The rook itself is stylish and comfortable with light wood furniture and a lively atmosphere. The Brussel's salad was light without too much greasing; the scallops well seared accompanied with hazelnuts and celery purée that provided a welcome crunch, although I would have expected more than three for a main, and the steal special was about 5 oz of marinated flank steak that was quite tasty. For dessert, the chocolate mousse with meringue definitely high the spot. We did have some issues: the wines by the glass turned out to be a 50 oz pour of a nondescript wine for $16 that seemed to be a price more typical of 5th Avenue or Rodeo Drive rather than Ridley Park; after some haggling we revived a pour of a superior wine gratis and in Trey end they did the right thing by comping it completely. I'm not sure what the US is not like most of the rest of the world and provides the volume of the pour, reasonable prices, and proper storage of open bottles to avoid marring the dining experience. The service was also spotty with a bit too much attitude from the manager for my taste, although the server was trying hard. For those who want to eat locally, Rosemary iOS an excellent choice, and if you liver in the city and are looking for a nice suburban experience, give it a try but I would avoid ordering wine unless you know exactly what to order. read more

Ambiance: A Food: A+ Service: B+ Value: A Not what I expected from Ridley Park at all. Everything was amazing. We were a group of 4 for dinner. All appetizer and focaccia was great. Main course for me was mushroom rigatoni and it was great. BYOB was a good call however bartenders make some great drinks. Only complaints I have (and I am nitpicking here) are seats weren't that comfy. We could not wait to stand at the bar. The other point was the server was just a little off on timing. All the staff knew what to do and were attentive. Our server was just TOO available. With some polish, he will be amazing. AJ server is the best !! albeit pork chops were tender but SALTY. Blackened broccoli appetizer should have been florets but were tough stalks. Daquiri was nice but too much ice which translates to less alcohol. read more
