I have found the staff very friendly in my experiences here! When I ask questions they are quick to help, and they always say something nice when you leave the dressing rooms in a new outfit. There are finches in the store like other reviews have said, but I think to say that that is unethical is a misconception. The birds have a cage large enough for them to move and fly about in, it is stocked with toys and food. I have seen staff (maybe the owner) interact with the birds while I am shopping, so they are given attention. I have seen no signs of aggression in my many, MANY moments watching the birds while friends browse the store, meaning they are likely well socialized. There was a nice selection of purses (the Jessica Simpson bags were cheaper here, but there was a wider selection of styles across the street at stein Mart). There was an overkill with "sales. Certain brands had "buy one get two free" promotions. If you sign up for Belk's credit card, you get 20% off of your total purchase and a 20% off coupon that doesn't expire. The dress regularly priced at $106, could have just been priced at 19.99 without any promotions (I didn't buy it). The dressing room was overwhelmed with discarded "Don't want this" items. The sales people were polite and able to have on-going conversations while ringing up my items. If you want to save money on cute outfits and you don't need actual help on the floor, this is a great place to shop. I observed her assisting another customer and it was refreshing to hear her give honest feedback rather than focusing on a sale. The customer had on a top that was just a smidgen tight and the clerk said "that might not be too comfy sitting down, but I can order you the next size up at the counter and have it mailed to you!" It's an adorable shop run by an amazing group of incredible, caring people who put a great deal of time and effort into curating a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life. They are very selective about the items that they agree to consign, so shoppers have a ton of high-quality, in-style options to choose from. It's honestly dangerous to go in there because there is always something cute that I MUST have; however, if you have a clothing problem like I do, when you're not buying new, you can at least shop with a clean conscience! On the other end, the consignment process is simple, clear, and quick, and you are reasonably compensated when your items sell, especially if you opt for store credit payout. The dressing rooms are honestly my favorite part. When you walk in, you're greeted by hundreds of sticky notes with positive affirmations posted by other shoppers. Stepping in to this cute boutique shop, one feels as though they have just entered a set for Sex and the City or Confessions of a Shopaholic. It's beautiful inside, with comfy sofas, fancy chandeliers, and pretty flowers to complement the spectacular selection of fashionable clothing from designers such as Tory Burch, Donna Morgan, and Kate Spade. In addition, customer service is fantastic. The ladies working at Monkee's are all very friendly and helpful, and they made me feel so comfortable while I was browsing the store.
