The best perfume shop I've ever been too. They have such great customer service. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

This has been our best experience so far visiting a niche perfume store. I normally get very overwhelmed testing new fragrances and this is not an activity I do well with but over the last few years, I've been avidly trying to discover a new fragrance. Perfume shopping and sampling has changed for the worse since COVID, so we would purchase hauls of samples online only to like very little out of so many. We went here to check out a few new ones and discovered a discontinued scent I was able to purchase a full bottle of. As always, I buy the samples first before making the commitment and we purchased a couple we liked. The owner and Maurice were so nice. I had some great conversations with them and I wish the other stores we went to were as friendly in LA. I would definitely come back in the future. A pretty good selection of niche perfumes and even some designers. They have a cool section in the back that's "perfume through the ages" where you can smell things that were popular in different eras. It's a really unique and cool idea. I do wish there was a better selection of indie or artisanal houses. Scent bar is miles above in that regard. It's Beverly Hills, where are the bortnikoffs, the L'artisan parfumeur's, the zoologist, jovoy, profumum Roma? One thing I love is that you can buy samples of everything whereas scent bar only gives you 1 and they're stingy about which brands/concentrations you pick. All in all it's a good store. This is a review of their mail order side of their business for samples and perfumes. A-MAZ-ING!! If you have a ballpark of scents that you want to try but don't feel like going to the mall, check out their website. You don't have to explain yourself, you don't have to deal with high pressure mall sales people, you just order what you want to try. Yes, you do pay for samples, but you are paying for someone's time to decant authentic product and send it to your home. No sitting in traffic, no trying to find a parking space, etc. Worth it! The best part is you can really wear the samples (there is enough in each sample to wear for at least a couple of days) and get a feel for the scent. That way you can get something that you really, really love instead of making an impulse buy. The samples are little sprays so no trying to wrestle open one of those tiny tubes and to smear it on you. You get a true sense of what you will be wearing. Shipping was pretty quick but I'm not that far. I just didn't want to make the drive in. I ended up with a purchase, got some more samples and I'm sure I'll be making another purchase soon. First, the positive. The shop has an incredible selection of niche perfumes. One of the best in Southern California. However, that's where the positives end. Upon entering, I was told they're open by appointment only (???) but they'd grant me an appointment. Then, I was asked to set my bags down because they've had issues with shoplifting. The "you don't look like a shoplifter, but..." is not welcoming. Maybe have all your perfumes behind the counter with only samples up front like most boutiques? I had a list of perfumes I was looking for and unlike Scent Bar, who made a point in understanding my scent profile, the assistants made random (albeit expensive) recommendations. I just felt...uncomfortable and watched. Especially as everyone kept re-aligning the bottles once I settled them down. I was interested in purchasing Thameen's Pelegrina, but the atmosphere was less than desired. I prefer Scent Bar, Saks, Neiman's. Or, I'll just get samples online. read more

I've purchased many times online in the past and the shipping is fast and reliable. I was lucky enough to visit recently and met Alan who was so knowledgeable and easy. I'm so glad to have found BH Perfumery. I've never seen a fragrance collection like this before. They carry exquisite niche fragrances you can't find anywhere else. The lady working here is amazing and spent a really long time showing me different perfumes based on what I asked for. Selection of the store is unreal and the staff has an extremely relaxed approach when customers are browsing different fragrances. Alan the owner is an absolutely wonderful human being who provides great customer service, terrific communication, and a welcoming vibe that's great for business. AHHHH!!!! I work with fragrances. I am training to be a perfumer. Over the years, fragrances have been reformulated as more and more restrictions have been placed on ingredients. As such, the modern versions of fragrances released years ago are often shadows of their former selves. I knew this, but haven't found anywhere to smell the vintage fragrances. I could always order off of ebay, but that is dodgy. I never knew a store like this existed. It looks unassuming from the outside, but I came in, spotted a tiny bottle of Guerlain Chamade parfum from the 60's, and was SO EXCITED!!! I loved smelling all the vintage versions of fragrances. Perfumery is very different today than it was years ago, and it's so useful to have some context. And it was very exciting to buy vintage Chamade, Miss Dior, Ungaro Diva, Shalimar, Mitsouko, and Champs Elysees. I will definitely order from here in the future. read more

What a great place! A bit expensive, but at least I got the real things. So many of the colognes and perfumes that I wore are no longer sold in dept. stores. I had the bad experience of buying from a perfume store in the Westside Pavillion. When I opened them at home, they did not smell right. Money down the drain. When I went to the BHP I was able to find 3 of the scents that I loved in the 70's and 80's. The lady working there told me that some places water down the cologne and then have it vacuum packed again and sell it as if it were authentic. She told me that she went to France every year to buy her stock. I never liked any of the 'popular' perfumes such as Giorgio or Red. She said that was because they were no longer based on natural substances but on chemicals. They just stopped making or importing the good stuff. You have to go to a special place like this to find it. You can order some parfums via the internet, but I prefer shopping in person. I used to buy my mother the best French cologne for $9.95 plus tax. Now, it's over $100. More Nixon and Reagan inflationonomics. read more

I've been a customer for a couple of years when they were located on Wilshire and keep coming back. They have always been extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their merchandise. They have good prices and do what they can to make me feel even better about it. Parking is questionable and the store's not the prettiest, but this is the only place I buy my cologne. read more

This is the place I go to for all my beauty product needs. I was first directed here by my hair stylist a block away, probably around 15 years ago. They had a specialty gel that she told me to go try and since then I have come back for everything! At some point in the last few years they went to strictly carrying perfumes and colognes which was for the best since now they specialize in scents. I have been coming here for over a decade now. They actually just moved to 264 N. Beverly Dr. a few doors north of the Montage Hotel. They have a great selection of fragrances, especially older, classic ones. What can I say? I'm an old-fashioned guy! I tend to stay with the colognes that I like and keep buying them. The salesperson, Alan, is very helpful and what's even better is that he'll give you great deals the more you buy, which is simply a bonus since the prices are already low. They even have some fragrances in tester boxes so you can get them even lower. Definitely have to check out this place before you go to the department stores. Tell Alan I sent you and I personally promise that he'll take care of you! I even had a friend trying to track down a hard-to-find fragrance for his girlfriend and he got it for him. I found Beverly Hills Perfumery and Souvenirs on its eBay store. I was looking for an old version of my EDT before it got reformulated. I had an idea of how the old version' back of the box looks like and I needed a picture of it from the listed auction. So I decided to contact the seller to ask him if he could send me that picture. In less than 1/2h later, someone named Alan replied to me with a friendly email and the picture attached to it. The first contact said it all: first a speedy reply, second the picture I did request, third a polite response. When going thru the auction page I was happy to read that the street address of the perfumery was actually 2 miles away from my work! I contacted the seller again asking him if I could just stop by to grab my EDT since I was so close to the store (and also impatient to get it lol). Alan responded it was not a problem and provided me the hours he was in the store; he was even willing to come before or after the store hours if a different time was working better for me! It is a family run business with an obvious strong customer service. Beverly Hills Perfumery and Souvenirs is very well located, in the beautiful heart of Beverly Hills. There is even a parking structure near it that offers the first 2 hours for free if you drive there. As I entered the store, I was friendly welcomed by Alan. The store is beautiful and has a huge choice of fragrances, newest, vintage, hard to find and discontinued. There is also a nice selection of souvenirs. I was surprised by the prices which are really reasonable and discounted. I had a little chat with Alan about the reformulation, he immediately showed me his fragrances knowledge. If you don't know what to wear and are looking for a perfume, I am certain he will be of a great help and good advice. The EDT I came for looked brand new and in perfect shape, like the store just got it; I want to mention that this is the old formula which has been produced many years ago. Based on the pristine condition of the box and bottle, I immediately could tell the store is keeping and storing its fragrances with care. Thanks to Beverly Hills Perfumery and Souvenirs, I am now enjoying my favorite EDT like the old times, before it got reformulated.
