Over camping at Texas State Railroad in Rusk, and the craving for a good local greasy spoon came on us. Not much to have in town, so a short drive over to Jackson for Beverly The restaurant's tucked into a strip mall- cinema to one side and Stage clothing store to the other. Seat yourself, the waitress will be right over with a double sided laminated menu. Breakfast burrito for me, chicken fried steak and eggs for the hubby. Burrito was tasty- but don't be surprised if the salsa on the side tastes like Pace Picante Sauce. (Cause I'm pretty sure it IS Pace.) Hubby likes the steak, said he'd come back for it again. (His plate is completely clean... toast makes for an awesome sopper-upper). Overall, a good easy meal on a Saturday morning, supporting the local place!

Good breakfast, eggs cooked right, crisp bacon, crispy hash browns, nice big doughy biscuits. Will try the pancakes next time. $30, with tip, for breakfast for 2. Updated menu attached.

    Texas waffle--cute and good, too!

Classic locals cafe where the servers know their repeat customers and what they order! We've only been here for breakfast a handful of times and while it's not brunch at the ritz, the food is pretty good (not the sausage, it's hockey pucks)--but the Texas shape waffle is awesome!! Would be a 5-star rating but they don't keep hubby's coffee cup filled and that's a BIG mistake!

    Veggie omelette w/biscuit

Great service, popular pricing, clean. We had omelettes--veggie and ham & cheese. There's a passageway to a boutique, not sure if owned by same person.

Great cinnamon pancakes, coffee. Everyone loved their breakfasts. Chicken sourdough sandwich was great. Sharon was our sweet waitress. Would definitely come back. Hangover cure right here

Chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns

I ordered a. Chicken Fried steak, eggs and Hash browns with coffee. The chicken fried steak was like home made none of this frozen patties like some other restaurant. The service was great as well with constantly filling my coffee cup. I would for sure return.

CFS and eggs were good, as we're pancakes. Service was excellent. We will definitely return when back in town.

The food, however, was hit-or-miss. The Brisket Nachos looked nothing like the promo photos--plainer with less brisket, though still tasty. Entrées like the Country Fried Chicken Strips, Brisket Quesadilla, Grilled Salmon, and the Wagyu Flat Iron Steak special were good, not great. Sides were average (the wedge salad stood out, but the green beans were forgettable), and they were out of the fried Brussels sprouts I wanted to try. Dessert--the chocolate cream pie--was fine but unremarkable. For what we got, the $140 bill with tip felt overpriced. Sadler's is a pleasant restaurant with good service, but the food quality doesn't quite justify the cost. Worth a stop if you're already in Jacksonville, but I wouldn't make the special trip again. Chicken fried chicken was juicy and properly seasoned and the best we'd ever had. Ditto for the green beans and the okra. She wouldn't tell us what she puts in the green beans, but it's some combination of bacon grease and magic, I swear. The okra was fresh cut, fresh battered, fresh fried, unlike every other place I get it where you can tell it's out of a bag. Hot water cornbread was ah-mazing. I only wish I had honey to slather on it along with the butter. White gravy was fantastic, with just a hint of sweetness we couldn't quite put our finger on. Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes were delicious, but also the only things I can say were on par with some of our other favorites. Prices are extremely reasonable. And the service is as down home and personal as you would expect at a place like Sylvia Mae's. But don't expect quick delivery of your food.
