Jalapeño Tree has 15 locations. I've been to 14 of them. Me n my mom decided to make it a challenge to eat at every one of them. She passed away when we had hit about 9. I've made it my mission to eat at the rest of them. I've got one more left- north of Dallas ina little town called Denison. My waitress had a t-shirt with all the locations listed. I asked if I could purchase one. They gave me a T for free and when I looked at it, it was the wrong one. Dang it. Maybe I can get one at the Denison location. Saturday 11:30 - party of 2. There was no wait. Chips and salsa and drinks hit the table at 11:37. We were eating by 11:56. Jessica, our server was fantastic. Lunch consisted of the Queso shrimp and double enchiladas with double rice. I order the queso shrimp lunch special every single time- so I can compare the execution of the meal at each location. It was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the taco shell was toasty and crisp. We were ready to cash out at 12:15- but I needed another 20 minutes to finish my margarita. I have been to this place twice in 30 years. Once just after moving to this area and again just the other day. Still underwhelming. I love this place. The food is good, the prices are right and the chips & salsa is awesome. Mandy served me the other day and she went above and beyond to take care of me and my friend. We stayed a while to visit and Mandy never let it bother her that her table was being occupied so long. We will definitely go back and hopefully not stay as long. :). I went in with my wife like I always do. Brought my yeti cup full of ice water. I asked for more ice water. Neither of us ordered any alcohol. I was asked to take my yeti cup back to my truck. She (the manager) forced me to either leave or take the yeti outside. I even showed her the ice water and she blamed it on TABC. That's not now TABC works. 1 star because I can't post without a star rating Horrible.. loud drunk women at the bar, and a bartender with no intention on stopping serving, or stopping them from leaving. Took 20 minutes to get to go boxes, and then another 15 minutes for him to run the check. The Jacksonville location has recently had a sorely needed remodel with new tiled flooring in a checkerboard pattern. New tables and chairs were also added to the decor. Previous flooring was bare concrete with obvious cracks, stains and other noticeable damage which made it very unsafe for customers and servers alike especially when it became wet. Along with the updated decor, was an updated staff. The last few times I had been there, I did not see the manager I had normally seen previously. I also didn't see one of the regular servers I had seen in previous visits. I am unsure if these individuals were just off on the days I went or if they were terminated entirely. This location began as a favorite place to eat upon moving to the area a couple of years ago. As time wore on, the food had become mediocre at best. Order mistakes had been corrected by disguising the error and serving the cold correction to the customer. Since I haven't had a food error since "giving them another chance", I can't say if this practice is still in effect. I would assume with the building remodel, other areas have been improved as well. Customer service from the waitstaff had never really been too bad. A customer's impression of service is nearly always based upon the most recent level of service received. This is especially true in food service. This location has become my "go to" place for nachos and margaritas. The last review for this restaurant is a couple of years old so I wanted to give an update and let everyone know that this place is still around, serving up some great Tex-mex, if you can call fresh spinach enchiladas Tex-mex! Call them what you want, I call them muy yum! Husband had fajitas which were also good. The flour tortillas seemed a little chewy, but that's what I get for snagging a sample that came with his order, not mine. The complimentary chips come with a tasty avacado sauce which disappeared quicker than you can say "andale!" The one thing I found a little confusing was the name of the various combo plates on the menu. They had names like the "James Dean" and the "Arnold Schwarzenegger." There are 18 of these restaurants around Texas and they've been voted "best of the best" by locals that vote on that type of thing. read more

Nothing too fancy, and sometimes that's exactly what you want. My creen chili enchiladas were great, prices were cheap, and service was great. I had the Cancun! It was to die for! I have never had anything like this and was a little scared to order it. The chicken was so moist and the shrimp....OMG! Very disappointed in their customer service. My dad and I have both tried to call to place a to go order for 30 minutes now. They finally answered the phone but no one was there. Good place to catch some good Mexican food. I will say I have not branched out on the menu. I found the fajitas and have take the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. So let me explain. The absolute worst!! Empty restaurant. Host/Hostess stand with three waitresses and manager that were unwilling to help because "no tables to accommodate." Once again disappointing service! The bar area was filthy when we arrived to eat drink and watch sports channel. Dirty plates and food from previous patrons were never picked up while we sat and ate our meal. The "stand in" bartender wasn't familiar with the area but covering for bartender until he returned from lunch break? When he did clock back in, he NEVER greeted nor offered his services. He kept his back to us while surfing he mobile phone.... totally poor customer service! His excuse? He wasn't our server! EVERYONE IN THAT RESTAURANT IS OUR SERVER!! The salsa was pretty good. It was not chunky and had a lot of spice to it. The atmosphere was typical of a medium-sized Mexican style restaurant. Hated it. Ordered a plate for $11.99 and the portion of chicken was like a kids meal. Small chicken strip. Will not go back. It seems that it is only this location.
