This store always seems to be busy, but even while helping endless lines of customers, they stay cheerful and ready for the next question or request! Okay, so I am giving three stars because in one day, I had a terrible experience and then a good experience. I decided to take up sewing, and I needed some supplies for this new hobby. Having never purchased fabrics before, I talked to the woman behind the help desk/fabric area. She was not friendly, nor helpful. I won't describe her appearance on this platform, as it seems wrong to "out" someone on the web, even though she probably deserves it...! Anyway, I was so overwhelmed with the fabrics, and with no help, I took the items from my cart and left. Well...by the time I got home and did other things around the house, I realized it was too late to go to Hart's Fabric and back at Beverley's Fabric I went. I had a sewing class the next day, and I needed materials. I figured the unfriendly and unhelpful woman's shift must be over by then (it was hours later). Thank goodness it was! I received splendid help from two ladies behind the counter, and they totally made my experience great. I hope this unfriendly woman was either having a bad day or readjusts her attitude. If not, she should not work in customer service. read more

Came in 25 minutes before closing. Aisles were already starting to be blocked by the carts of Items that usually are outside. I was (rudely) reminded that the store was going to be closing in 20 minutes. I promised to hurry. Shortly after the entire row of fabric I was looking at was blocked. I love Beverly's! I wish we had this craft store chain in southern California because they carry a different variety of items than they do in the craft stores here. Last time I was in town it was for a clearance sale with 90% off and I came up on some real goodies! If you've never been Christmas is the perfect time to come because they always decorate beautiful trees to shop from and select your favorite ornaments. I like the mermaid tree best! read more

I have been shopping at Beverly's for 30+ years. I have noticed more & more over the past few years how rude and arrogant their staff of women are. Tonight was the last time I will shop there. The cashier Sequoia was so rude and annoyed that she had to check me out. I like to buy local keep things in our town, but I'd be crazy to keep paying higher prices & be treated like crap for no reason. Rather then buying from Beverly's & keeping it local, I can get much better prices and often much better quality buying on line. Sadly saying NO MORE BEVERLY'S!!! read more

I like the selection in this store a lot!! Every time I walk into the store, I end up buying more than I intended to. They have something for every project you could ever work on!! The staff are usually really awesome too! I like how they will pre-cut fabrics using their straight-edge table. The prices are pretty high, but there really isn't any other place in town to go. We've only been living in Santa Cruz for about a year and have taken awhile to visit all the types of stores that my family typically shop. We're a family full of crafters and had heard of Beverly's and so I took my kids. There is quite a variety in this shop, I'll give them that. But what is here is dismal. Everything here is low quality and from China. From the jewelry making supplies, to the fake flowers to the scrapbooking. Everything is just the lowest rung of quality and is not cute or original. Michael's is way better and so that's saying a lot. The fabric selection is awful. So much of it is dreary or tacky. It seems like a lot of it is picked over and stale stock. Customer service is really lacking. One employee had no idea how to answer my questions about their batting choices. Actually, another customer answered my question! Also, if you come in the evening, you're on your own. Everyone's too busy gossiping in a huddle. Also, it's a big giant mess in here. All in all, several negative experiences here have turned me off to going back to Beverly's. read more

I love this store but almost every time I go in there an employee is always rude. Today my friends and I were buying some beads to make jewelry, we were in the same isle as an employee and she was constantly starring at us while we were browsing. We didn't think much of it until we asked her where we could find stretchy string, she rolled her eyes and said the end of isle 3. It was not in the isle at all so I had to find a different employee who told me it was on the back wall behind 4. The entire rest of our time shopping there she wouldn't stop starring at us and giggling from across the store, she even called over a another employee to her to laugh and point at us. The young woman with the reddish brown hair who likes to make out with her boyfriend at the front of the store while working was being unnecessary rude and a little weird... read more

Yummy yummy pretty stuff for sewing and gluing and all kinds of good stuff. They have a HUGE selection of silk flowers here which have endless uses. There is pretty yarn and fabric. You can great sale deals and if you buy stuff for a class they will give you 15% off. Lots of great stuff and you don't have to spend a fortune. Check the outside sales and the coupon books too. read more

I found out about these guys from the weekly junk mail. Gratefully there was a coupon for 40% of any one item and a bunch of other items I wanted were also on sale, including an embroidery pattern book for 30% off (Sublime Stitching!). They also have a number of Sublime Stitching patterns and a ton of thread for .39/each and I think they were on sale when I was there. Having moved from the other side of the hill I have been so spoiled with 3 or 4 Michael's close by. It wasn't until a few months I needed a new knitting needle that I discovered Beverly's. Let me tell you, this place rival's any of the box stores every day. i love that I can find almost anything I need without a long drive to San Jo. They also have great sales, and cute little things that I have had all kinds of crafty fun with. The only down side is how much stuff they have in this small space. it is very hard to seek things out without getting distracted by other piles. I am also not super impressed by the staff. They aren't rude, but they aren't super friendly either. It would seem a little more fun if these ladies were excited about crafts. Overall a great little spot that I will keep shopping at. read more

I only go here if I have to, when possible I go else where. The people that work here are very rude and never insperational. To me a craft store is about talking to the people that work there to get tips and help and this place has never given me that. I've never had a pleasant experience here. There's a place in Scotts Valley (used to be Judy's) is awesome! I go there as often as I can. I just wish Beverlys was better saffed. read more

I love Beverly's Fabrics. The people who work there are knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. They really seem to enjoy their jobs and many times have helped me to figure out a workable solution for an unusual problem. I love knitting and they have a nice selection of reasonably priced yarns. They also put out a monthly newsletter/flyer with coupons. Each month there are 3 coupons for 40% off one item and a coupon for 25% off one fabric cut. Christmas season is fun with the variety of decorated trees they have in the stor and they always have a nice and interesting selection of ornaments, usually at 50% off making them very affordable. Beverly's is by far the best place to shop for whatever your creation needs are, and it's the most fun and friendliest store to spend time in to find whatever it is I'm looking for. Their staff is cheerful, helpful, and professional, and I've noticed a positive upgrade since Todd has been there. He has gone out of his way to help me find just the right thing I'm looking for to complete my project, and it's always a pleasure to have Todd help me. They decorate for all the holidays, and sometimes I can spend hours there looking at all the displays and just browsing around. Right now the store is decorated for Christmas and with all the beautiful ornaments and Christmas trees, it's a spectacular Winter Wonderland. I always leave happy with my purchases and for the camaraderie and good vibes in the store of the staff and other shoppers in Beverly's. Go there, you'll be glad you did. read more

I came in to purchase some fabric. The sales ad was not very clear. I asked a girl for help and she said that the fabric I needed was indeed on sale. I went home to measure the amount I needed. When i came back, she was no longer there. Instead, another lady helped me. After cutting the fabric she told me that it was NOT on sale. I asked her to double check with the manager, she was not friendly and seemed annoyed. I spent several hundreds of dollars there but no longer. They just lost a customer. read more

I've been here several times shopping for my aunt who loves to crochet. Yarn selection is ok. They seem to have a large variety of other crafty items (I'm the crafty novice myself). There never seems to be enough cashiers though. Every time I go I have to stand in a long line and pretend to know something about crafts so I can be a part of the crafty banter:) read more

Todd is the best!!! Not only does Beverly's have the best selection of craft essentials but the customer service is outstanding. I waited until the last minute to put my Halloween costume together and Todd helped me find everything I needed and made sure I was fully taken care of! I absolutely love this place! I'm a crocheter and basic knitter. Over the last 5 years they have added more and more yarn and accessories to the store. When I first started going there they only carried mainly Lion Brand Wool-Ease and Red Heart Supersaver. Now they pretty much have all the LB and RH yarns plus many other brands. I can only focus on needle craft because that's mainly all I do. But I also occasionally purchase pillow forms and stuffing as well as some beads now and then. You can sign up for monthly flyers that have the sales and coupons. BTW, a little known fact is that they give a 10% discount for seniors, but only if you ask for it. They have a lot of merchandise which is great for us crafters who do a variety of things. The drawback is that it can be hard to find things, so you have to be dedicated. Sometimes there are enough staff to help you and sometimes they are too busy, but I don't mind. If you are a high maintenance customer, this may not be the place for you. If, though, you are like me and need reasonably priced arts and crafts materials, then this is a great place. For the fancier lace and buttons, go to Hart's, though. Beverly's is more run-of-the-mill and has more commercialized products. I buy their yarn, beads, beading supplies, and random hardware like suspender clips, belt rings, purse snaps, etc. read more

I love this place simply for the great customer service. Every time I go in I'm greeted and always helped with what I'm looking for. I have never gone in without getting the help I need, wether I find what I'm looking for or not. If they don't have what I need they recommend where I might find it. The selection of fabric can't be beat, in fact the selection has inspired me to learn how to sew! I have found almost everything I need for my projects. read more

Needed a small container of wood stain. While they sell a lot of unfinished wood projects, no stain...absurd. I also find the staff and management pompous and arrogant...basically if you ask a question they treat you like you're dumb and if they don't carry something (which is a lot items) they flippantly tell you to go somewhere else basically with the attitude of "we don't have it too bad, we know we are the only craft store in town so whatever". I'd rather drive 40 min out of my way to Michaels than deal with this way overpriced store with arrogant & rude Customer Service. read more

When one of my student bought a pattern and came to summer camp I realized that there where only instructions in the envelope. I called Beverly's and the staff said that there were no more of the style of pattern so they ordered one from another store and I was able to pick it up the next morning. Been there 6 times. I've always been helped each time I went in. They have a wide variety of cloths in different pattern and texture. Only wish they had more high end fabric. I got pillow stuffings, sequence, beads, colored threads etc from there. Sometimes it could be a bit messy in there. read more

5 stars for Todd, the new manager of the Soquel store, and his hand selected staff. The shelves are well-stocked and the floral and furniture displays are beautifully arranged. I was inspired to write this review after my recent purchase; there were several customers waiting in line when 3 additional staffers instantly materialized to open all 4 of the check out lines. Update on my previous review where my 40% off coupon was not honored for batting. I got an immediate response from Don, the owner. He apologized and said that the 40% coupon should have been honored. Don contacted the store manager and I received a refund. I also got my 25% off coupon back so I could by more fabric - something every quilter needs. read more

Beverly's is not a fabric store - it does sell fabric, but the selection is just average in my opinion. I do like that they have coupons though. What really hurts Beverly's is their staff. If you go in the evening, watch out for the staff. They will either ignore you or be totally grouchy. There are a couple people there who would rather die than answer a simple question. The evening manager is wicked beeotchy. I try to go during the day because of this. There really is no creativity here... just selling a lot of low end supplies... read more

I've always been happy with Beverly's in Soquel. This passed week was over the top. I was in the middle of a craft for my daughters baby shower and I ran out of the paper for it. I called the store and Todd and Caitlyn were able to located it in Monterey. They had it brought to the Soquel store for me. I had been in the store that Saturday it was so busy. I was really happy Todd took the time to locate it and call me back. read more

For beaders: The bead and jewelry section here is a clutter of stuff, but you'll find everything you need here to put together a trendy piece of jewelry. They carry some stone beads sold little packets. Mostly I go to Beverly's if I need to get a bunch of crystal beads, separators, or closures. They sell sterling findings as well as 18 karat gold, I think, in little boxes (e.g., earwires, lobster claws, etc). You can buy a roll of chain here for cheap; the chains are made of base metal and the link designs are generic. Key word here is: Cheap. read more

Along with a large selection of just about anything you need for crafting, they also have a plethora of customer service. They take our needs seriously. When the line gets over three another cashier jumps on. When you ask for help the Associates are knowledgeable and you don't feel like you are interrupting them from their other duties. They had offered free Christmas trees (2ft artificial self lit) awhile back and there was a man out there handing out numbers and really communicating with customers about how the process would work. He was so nice, I didn't know who he was until I called the other day before store hours looking for a particular item. I explained it was for a sick relative and I needed to get it quick and in the mail...well, he found the item for me and was very warm. Hr had it waiting for me when I got to the store. It turns out his name is Todd and I think he is the manager there. Well, I can tell you that many, many managers might have pawned me off onto a sales associate and he did not. He won me as a Beverlys' customer for life..now if only a few other stores were like that. The cashiers are great too. Charisse is so charming and friendly, gosh, it's like they want your business..what a concept. Kudos to Todd and his staff. read more
