I feel really conflicted writing this review. On one hand, I like a lot of their items and the building is just a neat space to be in however the 2 stars are for the woman that was working today. As nice and well intentioned as she was, she kept questioning weather I could fit in a dress I was purchasing (I do fit) and was saying she wants to get larger sized clothing in the store for people like me.... I'm busty, but definitely not big. It was really offensive and turned me off. Also, I easily fit in all the clothes I tried on and bought 2 dresses so, it was confusing for me. She tried to say that I was on the larger side and could probably fit in some vintage clothes she got that were very large... I'm confused, I'm a size 8 and a dress size M -L... as mentioned, I have a large chest but nothing too note worthy. I'm concerned for the lady that may come in who is on the heavier side or maybe isn't feeling confident in her skin and gets confronted by this lady. Never a good idea to put your ideas of a persons body onto them. VERY disappointing read more

I wanted to buy everything to paint a vanity with chalk paint and specifically went here to support a local business during the pandemic. But when I asked the owner to wear a mask she refused to do so. I could understand if we were outside and far apart but being in a tiny corner of the store and close together to learn about products is just too risky. She obviously does not care about the health and safety of her customers even though I politely asked her. read more

This shop sells Annie Sloan Chalk Paint which can be tough to find. Love that stuff! They have some cute vintage "shabby chic" furniture in the store, but it was all too expensive for my taste. I think they even offer classes on how to use chalk paint (totally not necessary in my opinion). Hours are VERY limited unfortunately. Check to be sure they're open before you go. read more

I went into the store wearing shorts and a tank top on a hot day to look around. Apparently, I didn't look the part because the lady working didn't even acknowledge me. I thought maybe she was just busy with a customer. I walked outside to check out the patio and upon my exit she couldn't even look at me then either. Highly DISAPPOINTING, to say the least!! Cute store with friendly service. A lot of unique finds in a wide price range. The clerk even wrapped my items cute since it was a gift. Really cute shop with reasonable prices, but after an experience there the other day I won't be back, despite having a need for lots of chalk paint. When I arrived at the store the woman working at Loot was chatting with a customer/acquaintance. I stood a few feet away not to invade their space but I'm sure it was clear I was waiting to be helped as I wasn't browsing, just standing there. She continued to talk and talk about how she recently got the job and all the details, never once acknowledging me even after making eye contact. When the customer finally left the woman then helped another customer that had arrived at least 5 minutes after me, I said "excuse me" to get her attention to let her know I had been waiting- and she still didn't acknowledge me. It was ridiculous so I just decided to leave. read more

I think the shop is well named because they sure 'looted' me. They did a lovely job refinishing my mum's beloved small drop-fronted writing desk in a beautiful French blue, taken in on consignment. Unfortunately since it has sold they have not returned my multiple phone calls for the consignment payment. Since I now live in another state, this is very frustrating. If zero stars was a choice I would pick that. I've driven by loot several times and finally decided to check it out today! I saw the front door open and a woman carrying things to her car, as I approached, a woman outside said in a harsh rude tone, "we're not open yet". Surprised, I said "oh ok I'm sorry" and started walking back to my car. The woman didn't say anything else to me (like maybe what time the store actually opens in case I want to come back and spend money....) I guess they don't want any customers. I just took a Chalk Paint workshop from Amanda..and it was FANTASTIC. She was so organized and had all the supplies ready for us to use. In two hours I learned so very much. After purchasing some Annie Sloan paint , wax, brushes....I raced home to start my first chalk paint project. I am SO excited. Tomorrow I will put the finishing touches on a cabinet. It is already looking just gorgeous. LOOT is also a great little store filled with precious gifts for Christmas...and much more. So happy to have this store in the community. Seems to be more of a show and tell for the paint vs a true vintage flea space. Lovely intent with a cramped feel. It's always a toss up when one discovers a sweet place to shop, but the painted over vintage wanna be does not make a vintage space..it makes a painted furniture shop. Nice to know the difference in case you made a special trip like i did..thought I'd keep others from being in a similar situ. read more

First time coming here and my last. Customer Service is definitely lacking. Way overpriced. We stood there waiting to pay and the younger girl working was standing by the front door and obviously knew we were standing there and just acted like we weren't. My mom had to go and tell her we're ready. When she got to the counter, she didn't even greet me or ask if I found everything ok. And not even a "Have a nice day" after paying. I'll stick going to the cute shops in Scotts Valley. Waste of a drive here! read more

I love this shop!!! And their painting services. Amanda painted a cheap used buffet for me that I wanted to use as my TV stand. It turned out beautifully! Looks like something you'd pay $$$$$ for in a high priced shabby chic shop. I always stop at Loot when I'm in the neighborhood and pretty much always find something cool to buy (dangerous!). Plus they let you just wander around with no pressure and just get inspired by all their ideas. They must be doing pretty well because every time I go, they have a lot of new merchandise. Whenever I go to Loot, I buy something. This says a lot considering I frequent a lot of antique stores, and usually end up seeing the same inventory over and over. Not true at Loot. They keep the inventory fresh, and always have an imaginative showroom at the front of the store. While some may call it shabby sheik, I think the style is a tad more sophisticated. They carry some larger pieces, but I usually swoop up their smaller objects. I have an antique Rit dye display case, beautiful painted planter pot, and hanging pot rack I've gotten from Loot, and the prices can't be beat. They also sell chalk paint, and we even had a custom dresser made by the owner using said chalk paint. Whenever guests come over and stay in our guest room they comment on the gorgeous purple dresser, and want to know where they can get one. The owner is friendly, and always has the time to chat a little, which we definitely appreciate. If you're looking for a unique gift, or a little something special for your own home, Loot should be your first stop. read more

I have long loved this little gem of a store, stopping in for one of a kind jewelry etc. I recently had Karen come to my house to chalk paint a desk/printer cabinet and a vanity/cabinet in the guest bath. What an absolutely amazing experience and all turned out beautiful! Karen was really easy to work with and extremely creative , turning some ho hum furniture/cabinetry into beautiful pieces. I was quoted a certain price and that is what I paid I was told the projects would take 4 days and Karen was able to finish 1 day ahead of schedule. She brought her own tarps and always made sure that everything was left clean after each day. I would recommend LOOT and Karen to anyone wishing to transform or update furniture or cabinetry!! read more
