I walked up to the associate his name was Jamie turns out he's the store manager, and he was very knowledgeable and he gave me several different options at different prices. I went in for a Birthday gift and was greeted by Jamie. He asked if he could help me find something. I told Jamie that I needed a bottle for a birthday gift and he was a Burboun drinker. Out of all the bevmo's in this area the Elk Grove store has one of the better selections of beer and bourbon. The selection of allocated bourbons has way more than most other bevmo locations. The workers are pleasant and very helpful. I had a pickup order, walked right up to the front counter, was helped immediately, and was in and out of the store in a matter of minutes. They have the dumbest store policy on ID's. I drove with my mother here to purchase some spirits for Christmas. I went inside with her and when we checked out the cashier asked for ID, my mother showed her her ID and she asked for mine too! I didn't bring mine because I'm not driving nor buying anything and I'm 40 years old and look every bit of it but she refused to sell the alcohol to my mother because I didn't have mine. I'm not purchasing the alcohol why do you need my ID? Not to mention my 17 year old daughter was with us too and she needed her ID. So apparently this is a 21+ store now because if you have children with you they need ID and if you have anyone with you, even though over 21 and not buying anything, they also need ID. My husband loves the Wild Turkey Honey. The staff is nice and helpful. They have a very wide selection to choose from. How can you pass up a store filled with beers, liquors, and wine from all around the world?!? I sure couldn't! I've been to many BevMo stores and love that I can find almost anything here. The wine deals are great when they are on sale. It gets me to try new countries and flavors and I'm usually hesitant to buy. They buy one at regular price and $0.05 for the second is amazing! If you're not a fan of the one you bought, you can always gift it or cook it with something. If you live it, you got another bottle for only a nickel! I'm glad they also sell local beers here so I don't have to drive all the way to the brewery to pick up a six pack. Customer service is great! Everyone was extremely helpful and when they were unsure, they grabbed another expert to help out. I haven't been in here in awhile, but looks like with the GoPuff acquisition, the shopping experience in-store has declined significantly. I understand the focus with quick delivery of food + alcohol, but in-store was a complete let down. BevMo used to be the store you'd want to spend time at, ask questions and browse because of their focus on the variety of beverages they carried. Now, it's the complete opposite with the experience feeling cold and unwelcoming. It feels like you're shopping at a wholesale warehouse, where customer experience is the least important. Plus they are way overpriced than the other main competitor down the street which I won't name. The fact that you have to show ID to buy non-alcoholic items is not only an annoyance, but inefficient for both parties (what a silly thing to show ID for a bag of chips or olive brine!). I don't ever come to BevMo but I did come here today because I had a gift card. The place is very clean and organized. I came to buy stuff for a White Russian and the prices seemed average compared to other places. I liked the many options of alcohol not to mention they've got a little section for deli, cheese and meats, ice cream, appetizers, I even saw toothpaste! At first I thought I'd have to drive to a different store to buy half and half for my white russian but turns out they have the organic one for $3.49 (same price as Safeway or Bel Air.) Definitely saved me another trip. That was a plus in my books. Service was meh when I first walked in but when I checked out, Nick was really friendly and helpful. He even gave me the deets on why the store had a little section for the food and other non alcoholic items, and helped me save a few bucks by using a membership (once signed up). Grubhub and BevMo partnered up so they do deliveries up to 3 am. Unsure if alcohol is until 3am but I'm sure the food and toiletries are. The price is cheaper to deliver than Uber and Doordash, is what I was told. Def worth checking out. read more

I was trying to inquire about some Belgian beer called Grimbergen from Bevmo and I asked a worker there about it and the first response was never seen it in my life ever and that doesn't make any sense since he literally saw it on my phone since I had a photo of it. All he had to say was " that's the first time I've seen this I don't carry it in my store" because apparently he was the manager, and he had long black hair and glasses and wore a black mask. So I decided to walk up to the register and try to inquire about it again ,but found out later he was the manager, and then he finally decided to help me once since I was trying to inquire if they carried it at all , and I did apologize if I upset him in anyway and he replied " no problem" but he wasn't even looking at my direction when talking to me , he was just walking away while talking so the manager there in my humble opinion doesn't seem to want to deal with people at all, even though I was not rude. Keep in mind this was after the fact I bought from his store two cases of French beer, so it's not as if I was some guy who didn't even bother to give his store honest and polite business . I will see if their competitors carry the beer that I bought. If not then I'll try to stay clear of him since my first experience with this manager shows he is just angry with me for whatever reason , even though I never used profanity at him or raised my voice once , and if you are the manager who I dealt with and you are reading this , please don't be upset all the time , to a degree I can identify with your anger, especially when you're going through stuff maybe something personal or perhaps business related but if I'm not the bane of your anger, don't take it out on me or anyone else please . My adorable wife often likes to tease me about my obsession with nostalgia-inducing products. If a retro pair of shoes releases from the 90's, sign me up for a pair! When Best Buy began accepting preorders for the Super NES game console, I had multiple devices logged-in so that I could secure one (I'm sure by now you get the point). Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I take pride in supporting Diddy's (Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy) line of vodka (Ciroc). On a scorching hot Labor Day weekend, a friend of mine texted me that the BevMo in Elk Grove just opened a case of Ciroc's newest flavor: "French Vanilla." In case you're not familiar with the popularity of Ciroc, new flavors sell out almost instantly. After receiving the text, I immediately called the store and requested to have a bottle reserved (at the time I wasn't aware that you could do this). The employee I spoke to kindly took my name, phone number, and informed me that it would be on hold until closing. Four hours later, I arrived at the store, observed that only one "French Vanilla" remained on the shelf, and walked to the front to pick up my reserved bottle. The employee gracefully retrieved my bottle from the backroom and shortly returned. I entered my phone number (which is attached to my BevMo member rewards account), received the BevMo member rewards price, and the rest is history! Overall, I have never received anything short of outstanding customer service from BevMo (all locations). Aside from not having to deal with the questionable activity that usually surrounds liquor stores, the chain does a great job of stocking newly released alcohol (currently Ciroc French Vanilla is not available at all liquor retailers). read more

I've been consistent customer at this location, in fact so much so i have a rewards account with BevMo. The way my friends and I were treated last night was absolutely absurd and unnecessary. While heading to check out to get behind another family we (and only us) were disrespectfully yelled at by an employee (Kyle) to form a single file line. We cooperated and did as he asked all the while expressing to him that he can ask in a nicer way. When it's our turn in line he then proceeds to demand for all of us to present our IDs (which I am well aware that it's protocol) but he could've gone about it at a different approach and demeanor. I get we were the youngest looking group of individuals in the store, but i don't appreciate being treated as if i was in a damn boot camp. I now know to take my $133+ worth of business to the corner liquor store or gas station where there's better customer service and a good laugh from a loitering homeless person with a good heart and sense of humor. read more

Shopping at BevMo is like being a kid in a candy store! Anything you enjoy of the liquid variety can be found here. This place is well organized and fully stocked with almost every brand, and version of drinks imaginable from pop, wine, beer, alcohol and liqueurs. There is a huge selection of wines from all over the state and even other parts of the world. All described by vintage, color, location of the winery and even what awards they may have won. I had fun one Christmas by choosing odd and less common wines that were from places like Australia, France, Germany and New Zealand, as gifts. Come to think of it , no one ever commented on whether they were any good or not! I found soft drinks I enjoyed as a child, but forgot about later in life that were actually on the shelves, bringing back fun memories of the olden days. But even better, are all the fine liquors they carry priced within budget up to the extremely rare and expensive! Sometimes I just like looking at all the fun gift items, bar ware, unique snacks and gourmet cheeses. While, BevMo is no longer the "Liquor Barn" of the 70's where you could get bargains singly or in bulk, sometimes their sales are worth a look see. I enjoy shopping here for items I can't find elsewhere. The staff, for the most part, is friendly and helpful. Prices are unfortunately just ok and seem to be lagging with each trip. They do price matches but even that's become a hassle. One time I even had them tell me the wouldn't make any money on the sale. So how does your competitor do it? Perhaps a question worthy of more consideration. Places like Total Wine and Costco are going to really take a bite out of BevMo stores if they don't sharpen the pencils and get more savvy on promotions and lower prices. No complaints here. I've been going to Bevmo since I was a kid (not for myself obviously, just tagging a lot for errands when I was little) and have always liked the atmosphere here. They're all very similar so if you've been to one you know what they are like. I went here to get beer for a little beer tasting my boyfriend and I were hosting a few months back. They have a large selection of beer, both domestic and international, along with specials like Game of Thrones beer and plenty of cider. I went here recently to grab wine for dinner, and I love their 5 cent sales aka buy one bottle get another (of the same) for five cents. Got two bottles of a great Tempranillo for ten bucks! Of course, they also have lots of types of liquor. Parking is plentiful as it's in a shopping area. Service is okay, mostly friendly. read more

Rows and rows of wine and various wine deals. Over the years they have implemented the BevMo 5 cent wine sale, purpose one bottle get the 2nd for 5 cents; no complaints from me at all! This deal has become very popular, and now appears to be almost available daily. I would note that at times I have noticed an increase in the individual price but still a Major deal with the additional bottle only priced at 5 cents. I actually attended a wine tasting party, we had to bring a bottle under $20 for the competition. So of course I ran over the BevMo, grabbed two bottles of UnRuly Red at $11.99 and 5 cents so two bottles under the price point. And Yes everyone, I won!! The look on the host's face (wine snob) when he heard the price was priceless! Back to BevMo. . .not only do they carry wine but an unbelievable amount of hard alcohol's, various beers, cider's, mixers, you name it, they carry it. Worst experience ever from any business!! I just bought a kegerator Thought I was going to the professionals about drink as they tote. Called to see if they had a 5 gallon keg. I've never owned my own tap. I researched my kegerator would only hold a Corny or a Sixth of a kegs 9 to 9 1/4" in diameter. A 5 gallon or so keg. After a 15 minute wait on hold they came back and said they had one. They would hold it for me. I asked a 5 gallon. Yes a 5 gallon. So I went down there. Told them I called ahead and they said they had it. One associate said no. One said I don't know and one said oh yeah we got it. I inquired again, a 5 gallon? Yes a five gallon. We will get it. I walked down an isle or two. Came back up front because I had to get home soon. Paid for everything while taking about how this 5 gallon keg is going to be the first time owning and tapping a keg. I get home it doesn't fit in my kegerator because they sold me a 7 gallon quarter keg instead. The manager told me he can't refund because of health regulations. He asked where the keg was. I said halfway in and out of my kegerator. I thought I went to a company that knew what they were doing. Wrong. Manager wanted me to drop my keg off at the store so he could keep cold for me until my party in 2 days. I'm like "What?" I requested his District Managers phone number. There's nothing remotely appealing anymore about this Bevmo ever since Total Wine came to town. Total Wine has 3 or 4 times the selection almost all at a lower price. Bevmo is expensive! I hadn't been in here in a while and my kids were down the way at Claire's so I decided to come in here & browse. Found a bottle of rum I wanted. Bevmo was 37.99 and Total Wine 31.99. I asked for a price match and they said they'd do it, if it wasn't below their cost. They also had to go look it up in the back even though I had the price on my phone so I had to step away from the register and wait. It just reminded me why I don't like to shop here.
