Honestly I have never been into BevMo before, but I came in with my mom the other night because we have an event coming up and needed lots of wine. We are not wine drinkers so we had no idea what to buy. Tyler and Ryan were the two associates working there that night, and they were AMAZING! I've never had a problem with Bevmo, but I felt obliged to write this review after using their order on line - pick up at the store service. I decided to pick up at the HB branch since it's usually the zen center of Bevmos (especially compared to the West Hollywood cluster fuck). I ordered 10 bottles from their buy one get one for 5 cents sale and received an email confirmation that my order was ready. I went to pick up my order (already paid for) and they couldn't find it. I started helping them go through all their orders and the boxes to locate mine. After 15 minutes I got fed up. The reason why I ordered on line was to save time and be efficient. And I told the guy helping me this. No more misses nice Anna A., but don't worry I didn't make him cry. Since they couldn't find my order they decided to fill it then and there. I was like, well you better hurry because I don't have time for this. Grrrrrr!!! To my dismay they were out of the french champagne, malbec and shiraz I ordered so I was like whatever just refund me that ish and do it fast. I was a little annoyed with this whole strain of events and only getting half the wine I ordered. BevMo.....it's been about six weeks. For those six weeks I've been frequenting Total Wine and More (in the shopping center rightnextdoor as I pointed out before). Know what? 5% discount doesn't mean shit to me anymore....5 cent sales don't mean shit to me anymore.... KNOW WHY??? -TWM's prices are right on track with yours, or slightly less -I don't have to wait in a line of 8 people because there are only one or two check stands open -I don't "sometimes" have to give up my CDL to you so you can implant a chip in my brain via osmosis or whatever the hell it is that you do with it when you "sometimes" tell me you can't sell to me if I don't give it up. -I don't have to have an anxiety attack over whether I'm going to be hassled about being able to use my 5% off coupon on my phone and/or be given disapproving looks along with an exasperated request to your manager to see if the "rules" can be "broken" for me. Scary fact #1: Way back when, before I knew anything about anything, I used to drink blackberry brandy. And I LIKED it, dagnabit! Scary fact #2: My best friend just had a terrible break-up after nine years. OMG, 9 years? SO OLD. So I wanted to put together a care package that included blackberry brandy since she still lives in the wild outback that is Wisconsin, and to A) make her smile with the memories of the good ol' days before evil exes and B) get her drunk so she'd forget the bad ol' days with the evil ex. I had no idea where to find blackberry brandy, it's not exactly a high-falutin' or mainstream choice in libations. BevMo seemed a good bet. Well, folks, they had blackberry brandy. They had at least *two* different blackberry brandies. AND they had a blackberry liqueur, which is what I finally decided on for its versatility whilst maintaining the whiff of nostalgia. Wandering around, I thought their hard liquor selection was pretty decent, though not definitive. What I *was* impressed by was their beers. They carried a lot of the smaller labels, and actually had *GASP* hard cider! They didn't have an especially large section for cider, but they had the different Woodchuck ones, which is my favorite bottled cider. The price was slightly higher than I've found elsewhere, but usually you can only find the granny smith cider if you can find it at all. That one is my favorite of my favorite, but it's nice to be able to choose a dark and dry or an amber if I want to change it up. If I needed something very specific (like a fancy Spanish brandy we gave as a Christmas gift) I'd probably go to Hi-Times, but for general booze, I'd come here. I had entirely too much fun on my first time at a BevMo. My inner wino had me succumb to purchasing a Classico Reserva (reserva meant hand-picked) Chianti and one from 2004 as well which I rarely see in stores anymore (waving angry fist in disappointment to self control). I had also purchased a BevMo special buy one, get one for $0.05 and 2 bottles of Kriek (raspberry and black cherry flavored) beer (more waving fist). All (4 bottles/wine 2 bottles/Kriek beer) at the expense of $103.52 . But... But she said I saved $17.34 (still *palmface* at compulsions). I'm in alcohol heaven and bank account hell... I made some reconnaisance to see trivial and potential might (and must) try(s). Nakhon (Thai), Czech hops meets Jasmine rice. Heineken Dark, never seen it but I might try it. Spaten (Germany), Red Pig (Mexico), Xingu and Palma Louca (Brazil) and Ephemere (Canada). Definitely, "Jons" has my vote for variety in Czech/Belgian beers but for wine (swoons), BevMo is leading the race to my heart. I found a breathalyzer and mouthpieces sold separately close to the front of the counter and I found it trivially humorous. I was checked on 3 times. Mr Yoshi, Ms. Boxcutter in your backloop and hair covering your badge, Ms. Going to lunch and Mrs. Cashier who compulsively requests (more like, commands) prompt and adequate service, thank you so much for making my first experience in BevMo a pleasurable one! Bevmo. A 4 star beer store and a 2 star wine store - thus 3 stars. I drink a lot more wine than beer so I've pretty much stopped shopping here. Why? 1. Selection sucks. Better than a supermarket but really bad in comparison to places like Wine Exchange and Hi Times. For a wine shop, I find thier selections boring and limited . .and that's just for California. For other countries, like Italy, it is truly pathetic. 2. Wilfred Wong. For one I think he is way to generous with the points and I also don't think they make it obvious enough to the consumer that he is an employee of BevMo vs an independant critic. I automatically subtract at least 2 points from any Wilfred Wong score I see at Bevmo. 3. Prices are too high. I buy a lot of wine so take it from me - Bevmo is not the cheapest place to buy wine. Wine Exchange usually is. At Bevmo the prices are more akin to smaller shops like, for example, The Wine Pavillion in Lake Forest - but you won't find any of the interesting small production wines that you will find at Wine Pavillion and you can just forget about asking a bevmo employee *anything* about wine . .you're just as likely to get misinformation as an "I don't know" and a shoulder shrug. In conclusion - if you're buying wine here do yourself a favor and visit Hi Times, Wine Exchange, Wine Pavillion, Wine Club, Wine Room, Amazing Grapes, Rolph's . .or any of the other local shops that specialize in wine and you will find better selection, more knowledgeable employees and usually better pricing. read more

I'd always been a loyal customer of their store, and their 5 cents sales... until tonight. Came to the stores at 8pm, almost empty. Browsed around and selected some good collections and excited to check out... I was about to spend more than $200 in wines, as I usually spent every time they had the 5 cents sales. Everything was fine, until we met the cashier guy. Not only he was unfriendly, he was extremely rude. When we asked for wine suggestions, he said "I never drink" with a big attitude. No smile, no thank you, not a single word. His ill attitude was trying to tell us that we're stupid to drink wine. I was just shocked and couldn't believe it. As a company like Bev and more, dont they supposed to hire staffs with knowledge about wines instead of those morons? I'm a big wine consumers and sad but determined to stay away from company like Beverage and More. There are plenty of other companies (i.e. Total Wine next door or Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa) that I'm sure providing a decent service, or at least not as rude as at Bev and More. read more

BevMo always makes me smile when I walk in. It's a candy store for adults and has a great selection of alcohol, although a bit lacking in the foreign beers. Still, great selection of wine and domestic beers at reasonable prices. This location hasn't really won me over, being neither cold nor warm with the customer service that I've noticed. Perhaps it'll get better after a glass of wine or two in the tasting section. :) read more

It's like a Smart & Final, but featuring alcohol & tobacco. The cigar selection is a bit sparse, but the real reason to visit is the booze. Killer selection of pretty much every type of alcoholic beverage. The mainstream brands are of course available, but you can also find the harder to locate items... lots of weird whiskeys and vodkas, strange microbrew beers, and tons of wine labels from around the world. They have a good selection of off the wall soda pop as well... the sweeter Mexican version of Coca Cola... Bubble-Up... Definitely sign up for the rewards card... those 5% off coupons add up. Nice store, great selection, decent prices. I've come here several times recently and have been able to find everything on my list except for the ever-elusive Smirnoff Pomegranate Martini Cocktail which I'm told is to die for, but cannot manage to find ANYwhere except online. Everything is well organized so it's not too tough to find what it is you're looking for (single-serving beverages, wine, beer, liquor, liquers, margarita mix, paper goods, etc). I was offered sample tasting of beer, but since I don't drink beer, I declined. I had a couple of BevMo gift cards burning holes in my wallet so I haven't spent any of my own money here yet, but I will come in for refills when my liquor cabinet starts to run low. The fact that I came here looking for Paso Robles wines and came out with sets of Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet from three different Paso wineries after sifting through dozens of choices really speaks volumes of the selection. However. It took us about an hour and a half to make our selections and not once were we offered help. Not that I wanted it -- I would have turned it down, because we were on a scavenger hunt of sorts. But how can you completely neglect two shoppers who spend 90 minutes in your store on a relatively slow night? Still, the cashier was friendly and we got what we needed. He proceeded to look us in the eyes and grumble: "If you knew how my week was going." Enough said. Their stock is kind of up and down but they do carry a nice selection for decent prices, nothing to write home about though. My go to place. I always go to the Lakewood or Huntington Beach locations. They both have friendly service and it's never too packed. If you need ay help or have any questions there is always someone around. Since COVID I have been placing my order ahead of time through the App or Website and I never realized how quick and easy it is. By the time I get there my order is ready. I have tried the delivery option as well and it's amazing. They let you chose a time frame and the times I've used it my order gets here on time. Definitely my place to go to buy beer or liquor and they have so many options. They also have a reward program and you can gain points to get a certain amount off your orders. read more

Whether it might be a deal on a 6pack or a handle or even wines with the 2nd bottle being 5cents. I normally buy wines by the ratings but am also open to other ratings as well. As someone who would rather spend 10 bucks on a six pack of Micro Brews than 13 bucks on a 30 can case of Tacate (although the cheep stuff has its place and time), BevMo is my go to place to get my IPA or indie brew fix. This particular location is not too far from my place of employment, meaning I can be there at 9 AM to get the goods needed...all while doing it in an empty store (something not possible in Long Beach's location). Also not possible to replicate in the LB BevMo location is the size of the facility. HB's BevMo is HUGE and well laid out...leaving me free of having to worry I'll bump a case of wine onto the floor. I do love the fact that this store has more than just liquor. Granted I don't usually need crackers and cheese...or a replacement pint glass, but knowing this place has all three items is a good thing. Service here is always, and I mean always friendly. Selection is usually fully stocked...meaning when I come here to find Hanger One Vodka...they will have it. Cheers! read more

What a great specialty store! This is the one and only bevmo that I've ever been to, and I specifically came here for Bethenny Frankel's skinnygirl margarita, which is pretty much only sold here. The store is huge! It's so crazy to think that there's that much alcohol to fill an extra grocery store sized store. but to be fair, they also sell premium cheeses, chocolates, and other bar type food. The alcohol here is always priced really well. I've bought a huge bottle of Absolut Vodka for $20 or something a while back. Be sure to sign up for Club Bev! It's free, painless, and you'd be an idiot to not take off a couple dollars for each different type of alcohol you buy. The selection is really good, the service is fast, and all that. However, they often market terrible wines. How do you know a wine is bad? If WILFRED WONG has rated it. How does WILFRED WONG rate wines? By randomly looking at the temperature of a city in Arizona and assigning it to the wine. Getting 92 points from WILFRED WONG is about as hard as getting a C in PE Class. So, try to have some wine spectator ratings with you, because Wilfred Wong is to Wine Spectator what the National Enquirer is to the New York Times. read more

This BevMo is conveniently located next to a Fresh and Easy. That means I can grab food and alcohol in one trip! Like all BevMo's, the selection is pretty damn good in all aspects. Pricing is hit and miss. When stuff is on the BevMo Club discount, it's usually worth grabbing. Otherwise their pricing is run of the mill. However, they have tons of stuff you can't pickup at your local Albertson's. A great selection of beers from all over the world and pretty much every type of liquor and mixer available make this a one stop shop for all your alcohol needs. As for the wine selection, it's good, but I have seen better. But they do have their sale pricing to make this worth your trip. Especially when the 5 cent wine sale is in effect. Buy one bottle, get the second for 5 cents. (Wino's rejoice!) All in all, I usually make BevMo my sole stop to grab any liquid needs. This Bev Mo is pretty big (like most Bev Mo's), clean, and looks organized. Everything seems to be in place and appropriately grouped together so it's easier for customers to go in and find what they were looking for. There were staff members readily available to assist customers. I had asked where they kept their Soho Vodka, and one of the staff immediately showed me where it was located. I love quick and efficient help! BTW yelpers, Soho is the best lychee flavored vodka you can fine! It has a 23% alcohol content, but is so smooth it tastes like it has only 15%. Wow! So many stars for these folks! Ordered a super rare beer keg for a non profit fundraiser. From start to finish, great service! The beer specialist Tyler was super helpful and kind on the phone while ordering! When I went to pick it up, I dealt with Eric, Steve, and the guy that loves fresh squeezed, Robert! They went the extra mile to ensure this special beer was cared for and delivered properly. Sounds crazy, but they really know their stuff and have customer service skills that slay!
